It is always a hit or miss at Sephora. I switch between this location and the one at the Santa Anita mall. Some Sephora employees know how to give productive custom recommendations and others are so robotic and want to sell and make you feel rushed and do not give options. What brought me in today? I love the Drunk Elephant line so I wanted my bestie to test it out before purchasing (very important to ask for samples and know you like it before spending a fortune). I forget name of the lady (red hair) helping us today but she was nice and helpful and explained the diff between BHA and AHA and if you are pregnant or nursing which ones to avoid. She shared alternative products like Sunday Riley and explained what she used personally while pregnant and nursing that were safe. I like that Sephora offers 'classes.' I took a contour one and nobody else showed up so I ended up getting a 1-1 with the instructor which I found helpful. As for parking, structures and street parking are all over Old Town. I mean the beauty industry is so competitive but at least you can walk in to Sephora see, feel and try what you want and use your Beauty Insider to accumulate points to get freebies. My review is a bit late but it's a day I will not forget. Mayte was helping me and was a complete jerk! I feel it's completely different teaching someone as opposed to scolding someone. Everytime I would explain my beauty regimen she would roll her eyes or talk on her walkie or even to other coworkers. Maybe my beauty regimen was boring or not exciting but I needed help. Later on I found out she's somewhat of a manager which left me in shock, after more scolding I explained I need to exchange something and she couldn't find the SKU for the products. The entire transaction she was repeating herself to me like a child and huffing and puffing about working and having to help me. Eventually I told her to forget the whole thing and had spoken with another manager about this horrific experience. Never ask for MAYTE. read more

This Sephora is very spacious, and though the layout is a little funny, there is relatively ample room to browse. The salespeople aren't very pushy, and they won't attack you with "Can I help you?" as much as some other Sephora locations. It is located in the heart of downtown, so it doesn't make a good location for a quick trip to pick up a much-needed item, but it is in a convenient place for an all-day shopping trip. read more

My first 10 minutes at the store, went in to replenish the facial products I needed, all good and done! Spent over $300 at cashier and was asked if I would like a "Free Facial"... I said, ok sure, how long will the wait be? Cashier says, another 10 mins as they're finishing up a Pearson at the moment. 25 mins later- still waiting horribly! Then I heard another lady walk in staring they have made an appt for a facial!!! Really?!?!? Here comes one of the staff telling me after 25 mins that they OVERBOOKED, and that After waiting for 25 mins in that they can reschedule me!! Again, really?!?! I didn't ask in the first place for a facial- it was offered to me! So wouldn't you have checked the schedule prior to offering?!!! So very ouch disappointed!!! Spacious and friendly staff who ate attentive and knowledgeable of all the products sold at the store!! 2014 YELP 365 CHALLENGE - 122/365 Every time I come to this store, I'm harassed by employees the entire time. From the moment I walk in, to the moment I leave I am followed and greeted and asked if I need assistance over and over and over again. It becomes so uncomfortable and embarrassing. They sell men's colognes and universal hair care so why do I notice a difference in how I'm "serviced" than the ladies? I get that Sephora is a major retail giant now, and they have a level of customer service to uphold & shrink to keep low but this is the second time I've been followed through the store. No bags with me, no purse with my friend, no zippers or pockets open.... Wtf? I've spent hundreds of dollars in there before so I expect them to have better loss prevention tactics than this. read more

Was able to stop in here and grab a bunch of Fenty Beauty items when they were sold out at other locations. The sales people hover a bit, but it's better to have too much attention than none at all. Great fragrance selection. Aisles can get a little too crowded for my liking on weekends. Stop in on a weekday morning for the best experience. read more

I could not find an available make up consultant. I fished out among cramped shelves (it felt a bit claustrophobic at this store) a customer service rep and asked her a question. She redirected me (as an FBI agent using her headphone/microphone set up) to a different rep who never showed up. The service at the check out was so slow that I felt jailed at Sephora, but...I really wanted that lip gloss...I waited and waited...and finally purchased it...The cashier was very polite though...It is fun to stop by Sephora, but they need to either rearrange their shelves or do something about the space of the store; it is very hard to find products, and customers often run into each other. read more

I was recently in town and happened to stop in this branch to pick up some fundamentals (shadow, blush, etc.). The place was buzzing with shoppers, yet within a few short minutes, I was approached by a friendly sales rep, who connected me with the make up artist, Lola. Lola rocked! She listened carefully to my needs and swiftly, but pleasantly, recommended exactly what I was looking for. She offered to do a mini makeover on my eyes (I accepted) and it turned out exactly as I had envisioned. She didn't pressure me to buy anything, or spend more money than I intended. Disclaimer: My review is just for their make overs and consultations. The store is huge and it has a very wide variety of products. At first I thought this was going to be such an amazing experience. I remember seeing a bride get her makeup done at a Sephora in Culver City and she came out looking so beautiful. So when it came to figuring out where to get my make up done for my second more Chinese wedding reception I came here. When I booked my appointment the week before I grabbed the last time slot of the day (which was perfect for me) and the girl even said they would curl my hair with their new bombshell curler. All seemed good TOO BAD IT TURNED OUT TO BE THE WORST MAKE OVER EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!! I informed the associate that I was in for a wedding reception and wanted a pretty matte eye maybe with slight shimmer. Also, I said I was okay with a slightly smokey eye (as that is what I had the day before during my ceremony and American style reception). I also let her know some of my skin problems, like I need a primer and I have a shiny t-zone, etc. I even told her the products that I use at home to stop those problems and know I don't have a reaction to. I can honestly say I looked hideous when I walked out. I was so upset I seriously almost cried. It wasn't a smokey eye, it was just a dark shimmery shadow all the way up to my eyebrow and on top of that it creased in the 30 minute car ride for me to get home. She didn't even apply a lip color. She just handed me a lip gloss and told me to do it myself. On top of that she didn't know how to use the bombshell curler and everyone she asked to do it for me was going on break. She then was about to learn how to use it on my hair and I said NO. Like I was going to let her make me her guinea pig during my wedding weekend, I seriously thought that somehow she was going to burn off my hair. I will NEVER go back to get my make up done here. The girl named Krystal(mediterenian?looking, black curly hair, not tall) is so amazing. She's knows everything about sunscreen, while other associate did not even know where it's located. She's very nice and never pushy. She always constantly goes to customers and tried to help them. She explained how each sunscreen product is different and it was helpful. No more Buxom at this location. I asked them if they went out of business they said no. I asked if they don't work with Sephora anymore they said no....ok then. Very annoying that they referred me to the Arcadia location like it was close or something. Love Sephora, hate this location. The customer service sucks! The girls are unfriendly and unhelpful. They had the "freebies" displayed on the counter (including a premium Benefit one), and I wasn't even given the opportunity to redeem my points for it, even after pointedly asking if it was a new product. The response was a blank stare and the employee turning her back on me, after leaving my purchased items sitting on the counter and slapping the receipt down next to them. This location doesn't deserve my hard-earned cash -- sticking to the website for my high end beauty needs in the future. Had to make a last minute run to this Sephora to purchase foundation for my daughter, and I was not really looking forward to going to this location since it's always crowded and parking is expensive if you don't find street parking! Well we walk in and store is not really busy so we figured we would get help since other times I have gone there no one really approaches us to ask if we need help! Well busy or not no one even bothered to ask if we needed any help finding something! They kept walking past us cleaning up or just roaming around the store, I was trying to get matched to try a new foundation but felt staff didn't want to help out. This is definitely the best Sephora I've been to, simply because customer service really trumps it all. I've been to this location several times, and I usually end up buying my favorite additions to my makeup collection here. My issue with a lot of Sephora locations is that they hire people who could care less about making it a pleasurable, inclusive experience. There have been so many situations where I'll walk into a Sephora, get ignored the whole time and actively search for help, and when I do get the attention of someone, they try to get rid of me very quickly. The store layout is well-organized. Aisles are spread out, stock is filled and displayed in a visually pleasant manner. Everything is meant to catch your eye and this is why I stumble upon a lot of my favorites: because I'm just looking around but I'll see something I'm sure has been in every other Sephora I've been to, but it's displayed well for me to see. Service is great here as well. I receive a lot of help that's not too pushy and refined to my interests. The crew looks for items that may not be stocked in the display and always double checks. Additionally, the cashiers are extremely friendly. Both my best friend and I became VIB (the second tier of their reward program that I urge you to join if you haven't already, it's free!!), but my friend did not receive the VIB card immediately, where as I did. Kathy, who was my cashier, was so friendly and helpful and wanted to assure our experience was nothing short of perfect, double checked my friends status, realized that her cashier was shorting my friend of an experience (she said she'd get her VIB card but I received mine RIGHT as I finished shopping???) and got her the card immediately. Kathy really was the bow on top of an excellent experience. I look forward to bringing my business back to this Sephora exclusively in the near future and I hope you do as well. read more

Tonight was my first time ever walking into a Sephora store upon a friend's recommendation. I have never been into makeup, but I decided that in middle age, I need a wee more maintenance and my friend suggested using an eyebrow brush with color built in. As soon as I entered the store, a lovely young woman greeted me, then proceeded to help me. In a few minutes, my eyebrows were nicely shaded, and I was in line with my new brush. I could never sort out all that makeup on my own, nor do I have any desire to, so her help was very much appreciated. Her name is Jasmine, and she is absolutely lovely. I decided to sign up and get a Sephora card as they will do a Free makeup application when you spend $50. Parking is difficult on Colorado, but if you drive on "Green st.", you'll find "schoolhouse" parking which offers the first 90 mins for free. It's a short walk to Sephora. read more

I visited this place with 3 friends and the employees were very nice and helpful. I am a makeup artist and know my stuff, I wanted to show my friends some of my favorite items from Sephora. The girls helping us had everything handy for me to apply on my friends and just let me freely play with the makeup. They were also very welcoming they offered us water because we were thirsty. They definitely made our experience one of the best, their customer service is excellent. I would definitely recommend this Sephora and that's the store where I would like to spend my money. read more

Well here in line at Montebello Sephora, what a bust we where sent cards in the mail to come on down and get a gift bag and gift card. we got here at 7:30 (store open at 10:00) I went to count how many people in line before us we where good just about 50 well as time went on people came in and cut in line so when they came out to count we where 101 and 102 WHAT THE!! Really lousy service they should have had something in place and then found out that they advertised it on Facebook! The customer service in this Sephora doesn't exist. I understand that due to its location it is very busy but which Sephora isn't. Frankly, the workers don't help you they rush through your concerns and questions and as such, come off as quite rude. Customer service makes a great difference in any work environment especially, when you go in spending $$$ on 2 items. Every time I come in here they make it so uncomfortable for me to even look around, in particular this one girl in which i think her name is Selena. I get in to the store and I'm greeted and wherever I'm at she's there, any isle I decide to go into to browse she's at the end of the isle. She makes it so obvious too, do they get paid to do those things? Aren't you suppose to be helping people pick at makeup or do their makeup?? instead of watching over them. Like I never get it. And it's so obvious that they talk about you. Like I see that same girl whisper something into another girls ear while I'm walking towards them and that other girl turns around and stares at me. I've been to so many sephoras and I have never felt so taken care of and welcome as I did when I came to the pasadena location. I recently moved from San Diego and have been going to different sephoras to see which one I like the most , I don't mind driving for great service , and I was blown away by how helpful and nice everyone was at this location not only to me but to everyone else shopping there. There was zero snobby attitudes, you didn't feel rushed out, and the girls working there didn't speed walk past you without asking if you needed anything . Liz was aaaaamazing !! She was the only one working at the little beauty island they have in the middle of the store and even though it was busy she not once looked flustered and made us all feel like she cared and was paying attention. She used the color iq that is soo cool and even have me samples without making me feel like crap about it. She gets it ! You can't tell how a product is going to work on your skin until you've worn it through the day. Pretty much the same as any other sephora. Crowded with a bunch of women scrambling to try on everything they possibly can. Why I decided to give 5 rating was because of Sylvia. She greeted me when I walked in and asked if I needed help. Said no at the time and later on I actually did need help. I was trying to match a color of lipstick on my phone and was going to every station to try and find it. She saw and insisted she help me. What an awesome employee. She knew exactly which stations to go to and she found the PERFECT match. I really didn't think she was going to find it since it was a Victoria's Secret lipstick shade but she totally did. The front desk girls were super sweet too and let my sister have a bday gift even if her bday past in Jan. Great store with great employees. read more
