Standing around waiting for about 15 minute for someone to help me, asked 5 different people for assistance and was brushed off each time.

I was in NEW York celebrating my birthday and attending my neice's wedding. While searching for the closest Sephora to my hotel, I found the location at 1500 Broadway. There was an fantastic review a bride wrote about the service she received from Gigi & Sylvia. I called Sephora and asked to speak with either makeup artist & I was able to speak with Sylvia & made an appointment for the morning after arriving in NY. The location atmosphere was great, Sylvia was FANTASTIC. She was on time & waiting for me, asked how I wanted my makeup and told me each product she was using, why and how to apply it. Sylvia was easy to talk to and I returned three days later for a facial with additional skin care tips & product recommendations . I had a unpleasant experience seeing a employee being disrespectful talking about another employees in front of other customers, which is very unprofessional and made me uncomfortable to even shop. I was enjoying myself in the fragrance department I over hear someone yelling at cashiers yelling "hurry up" I was about to form the very short line but felt uncomfortable looking at the scared faces off the cashiers.I didn't expect that kind of behavior from such an upscale store and I asked the young lady in the fragrance department if this Sephora still offers express checkout and she tried to help but the Device wouldn't except my card so she brought me over to a very sweet young lady with curly hair and she quickly helped me and gave me samples signed me up for the Sephora card and wished me a happy birthday. But the women who I over heard yelling before was watching the young girl. I couldn't help myself and said out loud to the ladies and the gentleman working you all are great keep up the good work. Rude cashier tried to hide the promotion going on even upon presenting rouge card. "Oh, you have to tell me to apply the promotion". COME ON

There isn't a Sephora where I live, so when I went to New York I was excited to go to one since I'd heard so many good things about it. I was really disappointed though. I don't know if it's like this all the time, maybe they were just having a bad day or maybe I'm used to really good service, but when I got there I had to walk all over the store trying to find someone to help me. I tried to reach out to some of the people who worked there but no one would offer their help. I then asked a lady if she could help me and she said she was already helping someone. I walked some more and asked another one, who told me in a really discourteous way that I'd have to wait about 30 minutes to be attended. She said it in a way that sounded like "are you sure you want help?" It made me feel as if she really didn't care if she lost a client or not. Then literally when she had just finished that sentence (and im not exaggerating), another employee walked past us so she asked her if she was busy and she said she wasn't and proceded to help me. read more

I came as a walk in to do my makeup. They representative upstairs was nice, welcoming and accommodating. Kenya prepped my skin. That was an amazing experience in itself. My skin feels loved, moisturizer and refreshed. She used "Fresh" products. Akeisha did my makeup. read more

This Sephora is extremely busy however it's big enough that you don't feel like you're bumping into people every step you take. I've had positive experiences with staff overall. However I can recall one time recently when they were out of disposable lipstick applicators, so there was nothing to try lipsticks with! Kind of a bummer, even the sales associate admitted it was an issue! read more

Yes, this Sephora is usually fairly crowded. Given its location, it shouldn't be a surprise. I used to live in the theater district, so this was the most convenient location for me. This store does have its upsides, though. It's open later than the other stores, it's the biggest one I've seen (thus, more brand variety), and the staff is very friendly, despite the crowds. If you can't find what you're looking for at another Sephora, and you don't want to order online, try this store! read more

Very, very crowded store. There are all these girls running around and screaming and checking out all of the products. The employees there were somewhat helpful, but very rude. My friend and I were trying out some products, and one of the employees came up to us, and seemed very annoyed that we did not know what we wanted. When my friend went to the counter to pay, the woman who was helping him was also very rude. He could not remember his account for his rewards card, and she was very annoyed that she had to do more work than she did. We finally got out, and then I felt very relieved. Every year I spend my birthday at Sephora getting my face all done up, collecting my free birthday gift and buying a bunch of makeup to last until the next year. I walked in and was immediately serviced by the manger of the Beauty Studio. I was introduced to the team that would make me up for my big day. They were very knowledgeable about different skin types and suggested great products to use. The service was excellent even though I walked out of there nearly $200 lighter. read more

This is THE jackpot of Sephoras. It's the adult girls version of the candy store. I was dragged in here with my 18 year old, however it was not long before I was equally engaged in all there was! The staff is super helpful, personable and loaded with tips. If you're a make up junkie and like Sephora, you have to stop by here. Today, October 5 , Thursday at noon-ish, the lady at the cashier was utterly useless when I came up to purchase 200usd worth of items due to her unwillingness to help out figure my card payment , was asking for PIN when I normally sign. So, she had rather watch me leave the till without purchasing instead like I was a waste of her time. NICE JOB, WOMAN ! The perfume specialist (is that what they're called...?) helped me a bunch! I wasn't really looking into anything particularly but I did look at the perfume area because I was interested in looking for a new scent and it's as if IVAN, the guy who helped me knew. He approached me first and ended up helping me for a while. From my scent preferences and what I already have for perfume, he was able to recommend me more than a couple of perfumes -- I was holding like 10 different sticks with 10 different perfume sprays to smell. My Beauty consultant was Ms. Ava Lu who was recommended to me by a friend. I really loved her service. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and made me feel comfortable with every product she used one me. We had a 90 min session together where she showed me a beauty routine step by step from washing my face to the finished look. It was an amazing experience since I'm makeup illiterate. She showed me how to use each product and explained the benefits and why she chose it for me. She is an excellent beauty advisor who's expertise / familiarity with skincare products and makeup is just insane. I absolutely love her and will be recommending this location as well as Ava to my fellow Sephora groupies. read more

My friend and I stopped in here on a rainy Tuesday and it was moderately busy, but not packed. The staff greeted us but wasn't pushy, which was nice. I stocked up quickly, and an employee asked me if I had a beauty insider card, because with $100 purchase I could get a free gift, and I was well past $100. It was really nice of her, and so I got my gift and have credit for one in the future. I really appreciated her helpfulness. The cashier was very friendly and we had a nice conversation. It took away from the sting my debit card felt as it went into her hands. read more

The staff seem polite, but they are not receptive to older women's needs. I went here with my mother, she is not very much into makeup she was looking for some anti aging products. The girl she talked to was trying to help but she couldn't get my mom anything good, she had no knowledge on this. She tried, but she couldn't find her the right product. I had such terrible service today. They girls didn't even come up to me and ask me if I needed help. Seems like they don't care about their customers, and should get familiar with the layout of the store. I checked out one section located across from the perfumes for the mandarin orange liquid lipstick (Sephora collection). After that, I asked another girl if they had more..she told me there should be more on the other side and didn't even offer to look for it for me. Then another girl told me if its not out then they are out of it. I decided to stroll around the store hoping I'd find it and sure thing I found it right in the center under all of the other liquid lipsticks stand. I told the girl I found it and she told me she didn't even know that stand was there. Derp. I didn't even need her help. So upset about their service but hey at least I found the color I was looking for!! read more

Thank you, Sephora Times Square, for being the only location in your chain that has my exact products (other than online). If I prod, you ply me with samples. Don't go in for the outré stuff. My problem with this Sephora is not that the tourists take over, or that it is crowded, or even the fact that the layout is weird. It is customer service or the lack thereof. This Sephora reminds me of high school where only the jocks and the cheerleaders (a.k.a. cool looking people) get attention. If you don't look a certain way or are not buying $500 worth of make-up like the tourists, you will not get noticed. I am glad there are other Sephora locations in the city that have better service. I will go to them and let the tourists (including poor husbands and bored looking dads) spend their money here. My hard-earned money should not go to support people who think they are better than me because they are professional MUA (make-up artists). P.S. I was not the only one being ignored. I saw at least 3-4 others who were looking for help in the 20 minutes or so that I was waiting. read more

By now, everyone knows what Sephora is, but it's been my go to makeup store for the past decade. It's just an amazing store with the best selection of higher-end makeup and supplies. The problem is is that you could easily end up spending a lot of money and time at this place because everything in this store is just so awesome. Best thing about the Sephora Times Square is that it's open until pretty late, around 12am. Times Square is a tourist attraction so it makes sense; a lot of people shop at this Sephora, but it's not so terrible. Service here is also always great. If you have a question, someone will be always standing around to help you. Although I am reviewing this store location, this review applies to all Sephora's in the NYC area. They are all nearly the same store, but some are smaller or bigger than others. Stop by if you want to shop for some quality makeup. read more

Dilan was awesome! She has an accent so you know she's not from New York but if you're listening you can definitely understand everything she says. I went in to get some lashes put on since my friends and I were on vacay and wanted to hit up a club close to the air bnb. I run across the street after eating at The Hard Rock Cafe thinking they close at 10p. I grab the Sephora collection of a name I've never tried but was recommended and proceed to the counter. I hate lines so I'm anxious! It's finally my turn and I inform the cashier that it's a mini makeover and Dilan will be installing my lashes. She rings me up, never asks for my VIB Number and proceeds to give me my change. I go back to Dilan and hand her the lashes and she asks me if I'd like my eyebrows done as a courtesy because she really doesn't mind since it is a mini makeover. I inform her of what I went through with the cashier and she asks me if I'd rather return it and have them correct the transaction as a mini makeover which it should be. I didn't mind because I am attempting to climb my way up the ladder to a top beauty insider (can't think of the name right now) by the end of the year so that I may attend private events and receive free makeovers. I complete my exchange transaction and receive my beauty insider points and proceed back to Dilan who installs my lashes (Sephora Collection - Lush) and does my eyebrows. Flawless! Dilan proceeds to tell me that this location does not close until 1am. Woooooow!!! It would be a plus for me because when I can't sleep I'd be there but if I were an employee I'd be really sick attempting to stay awake so late. Can't wait to visit again. read more

The staff at this one was particular nice and though we didn't have much time to shop around since we were on our way to see Memphis on Broadway a block away, they made sure to help me with everything I needed in a quick manner. I'm definitely enjoying the new makeover that most Sephora stores are going through now. They just completed their renovation earlier this week at this location and it looks 10x times better than what it used to be. Makeup and cosmetics are in the front while skincare and hair products are in the back near the cash register. It's still crowded as expected due to tourism but the glitz and glamour of their décor definitely left me googly-eyed. Staff is also very helpful but it could be just the beginning of a new launch when service is usually above par. read more

This Sephora location is the one I visit the most for two reasons: one, its right across the street from my office and two, the staff is much friendlier here. I have probably visited this location a dozen times. I usually buy all of my makeup from Sephora and some of my skincare from Sephora. Despite being in the middle of times square, its usually not super crowded (not as bad a the 34th street herald square location) and I can find a sales associate to help me within a few minutes. The sales associates are extremely helpful and very generous with samples. I have had a chance to try a lot of skin care through samples which has made it easier for me to figure out what suits my skin the best since my skin is very sensitive. read more

This Times Square shop happens to be my local neighborhood Sephora (not kidding). I come here when I'm low on shaving cream, moisturizer, or cologne. Their Men's department is reasonably well stocked with Clinic, Anthony Logistics, Art of Shaving, Jack Black, etc. and is perfectly located way in the back away from all the mayhem of Times Square and giggly teens trying on makeup in the front of the store. The service on the floor is helpful, though the checkout lines can be long. read more

I had a good experience at this store. Mind you I was there in the dead of winter on a Saturday so it probably wasn't as crowded as it could be. I was going someplace else and happened to see this Sephora along my route. I stepped in to replenish some items I was out of and to check out some products I'd heard a lot of buzz about lately. The most unpleasant thing about the store were some of the other patrons who are quick to point out what an inconvenience my presence presents to them. *eyeroll* I confess I didn't get dressed to the nines to go shopping at Sephora lady but I assure you the money in my account is as real as yours, you can wait till I'm done here. If you all can ignore the pseudo New Yorkers vying to be fabulous in this mostly touristy spot in New York you'll be ok. If you ARE a tourist, aside from the kinds of people who preen about in here you won't see anything at this Sephora that you haven't seen at all the others. In fact many of the items I was looking for here were all out in the colors I wanted so you're better off saving this store merely for morbid curiosity to see the kinds of people who come in here. One thing they did have that I've not seen at least where I live, their makeup artists tend to be awfully heavy handed when applying makeup. I thought that silently to myself but then one of my companions commented on it offhandedly. The makeup is displayed PROMINANTLY on their faces. The foundations are ill matched to their skin tones and not blended in very well. On occasion I saw people in the street hooked up like that so maybe it's a TV thing. It might be offputting to some out of towners or it might be fun to just try them to see what they might do to you over there. It's makeup, you're in Times Square - have fun! The staff were 'ok.' Not overly friendly but not unfriendly either. I was asked if I needed help once but was otherwise left to look about the store uninterrupted. I asked for samples of two products and was obliged without question. They were quick to offer help when asked. I was there, among other things, to buy moisturizer from Philosophy and couldn't find it on the shelves. Another sales associate did some checking but then informed me that they were out of it. Strange! My particualr favorite is not even a popular product among the Philosophy line. The associate was extremely nice otherwise and we chatted for a moment or two before I moved on. I had other things to buy in that store so I made my purchases and attempted to leave. As I was headed toward the exit one of the managers in the store motioned towards me and exclaimed, "THERE you are!" He was with the associate I was speaking with earlier. Apparently there was a mistake and they found my moisturizer. He took me back to the register and opened up a new one that was unoccupied just to save me from standing in line again. I recently went in to this location in the heart of times square. Its definitely packed as the 42nd street location, but the staff here is more helpful and friendlier which makes all the difference. This one carries most brands sephora offers and give up to 3 perfume samples at one sitting. The previous time I came here, a visiting staff member helped my friend pick out specific items his sister requested from Australia, but she managed to screw that up. I saved the day by retrieving the proper items. So I must warn you that even they get it wrong, so double check your items before purchasing. read more

I came in to get my makeup done for a photoshoot and was fortunate enough to get to sit in Ciara's chair. She listened to what I was trying to achieve and she could not have done a better job. She was so sweet and taught me a lot about applying makeup and the best products for my skin. The time flew by so fast! I came into this Sephora to buy some makeup and get my birthday gift. I went up to the register, and the girl knew I was there and proceeded to ignore me until I placed my item in plain view. She gave me a look and so I asked her if I could get a Insider card because I didn't have one. She looked at me with irritation as if I was bothering her. There was no one else in line and she basically treated me like a peasant. She didn't bother to look up my info to know I'm a VIB. She just gave me a BI card. I swear to God she might has well have thrown it in my face at that point. I will never visit this sephora location again. She was completely rude and unhelpful. read more

This location is extremely busy and so I don't expect great customer service. I decided to go during an off hour - around 11 am on a weekday to see if it was any better. I asked one associate for assistance with finding a foundation to match my newly tanned skin tone and she kind of answered my questions but didn't want to find anything for me. She finally realized I wasn't leaving without real help so she grudgingly walked me over to a section with appropriate makeup. Then, I go to checkout and the cashier gets my credit card and points card yet still for some reason needs to see more ID. I'll leave you to guess why (hint: it's exactly what you think). I also notice that no other cashier is asking for extra ID [sigh]. After checking out, I found something else I needed and went to a "darker" cashier and BEHOLD no need to see my driver's license. You would think that they would stop screwing around with customers that will actually buy cosmetics from them at their inflated prices. This insult alone will keep me away from the Times Square Sephora. Perhaps you'll have better luck. read more
