I waved to get the attention of the reps and the one with the bleached blonde brows and the brown hair shook her head at me twice and waved me away. This is why I go to the Credo on 76th st. I've been to this location a few times and it's OK. Some of the other locations have staff that is more accommodating, but hey, it's SOHO. The decor is much like the other locations, muted palette filled with quality skincare products. The displays are often shifted around to suit the season. On my latest visit there were few people in the store and I was able to drop off my empties pretty quickly minus a few pieces that were accepted by the employees on my last visit. It seems that the type of empties taken are contingent upon who is checking the in. Despite the place being empty, I declined to redeem. I felt a bit rushed. A few times I felt like the person was actually interested in hearing my skincare/makeup concerns and recommended great products that would work for me. As a frequent shopper in Credo, I have found that the sales associates are rather rude, arrogant & just too busy on their cell phones to engage in a conversation. This location especially, employs associates that do not have the time nor the interest to discuss their various products. The price point here is on the higher side, which I will gladly pay, but I refuse to give my money to these associates who make you feel as if you are bothering them as they stroll though their social media accounts. This location is the worst of the worst. I was looking for a certain item in a particular line and numerous times the associated told me they didn't have it as they don't carry the full line. I wasted an hour of my time searching for something else, as she went back to her cell phone, only to find what I was originally looking for in the exact place she looked. Walking through the shops on Prince Street I stumbled upon Credo and had absolutely no idea what it was. I've been passively trying to replace my daily skincare products with cleaner, sustainable options over the years so I was pretty pumped to find this spot. To accommodate pandemic times, they have a pretty simple wait system in place so customers can feel comfortable shopping. After a short wait, I was let inside and it was completely worth it. Their team is pretty passionate about sharing their love for clean products so it's easy to go a little overboard in here. In an effort to keep things clean, they are still offering swatches you just need to ask a staff member for help first. I've been searching for an alternative tinted sunscreen and they introduced me to my new favorite makeup brand, Ilia. Part of what sets them apart from other stores is their reward program. Similar to Lush, they have a recycling program for old containers. The best part though? It's not just restricted to the brands they sell. You can essentially trade-in empty bottles for rewards points. This is starting to sound like an ad, but you get what I mean. Another plus is their shipping is really fast if you live in NYC. After a couple of years of effort and trial/error shopping for healthier skin care and makeup products on Amazon, in the personal care section of Whole Foods, via the EWG guides, under Sephora's (b.s.) "clean" standards, etc., I was really excited to discover that Credo has this brick and mortar store pretty close to my office. They carry a lot of brands I already knew and loved- Juice Beauty, W3ll People, Herbivore- and a bunch of other great ones that I was not yet aware of- like Ere Perez, Acure, and Heretic. There are testers for basically everything, and the employees are approachable, normal people, not overdone makeup divas. Will definitely be cashing in all my silly Sephora points and shopping here going forward. read more

I've been shopping at this store for as long as I can remember and have ALWAYS had an amazing experience. Every single person I've interacted with is helpful and friendly. Elyse has always been my go-to person when I need recommendations of new products. She's knowledgeable and always recommends the best things for my skin. I appreciate the return policy as sometimes I have reactions to products and they'll take them back so I can try something new. I'm also a huge fan of the points system so I get sample sized products after spending and often end up falling in love with new products and buying the full size. My friends know that if we're going to Credo, it's not going to be a quick stop in because I love the store and the staff. I was once in an airport and spotted by one of the staff - made my day! This is why when I walk in the store I know what I wanna buy (look at website ahead of time) bc most of the time staff are rude. This is the second Credo I've been to where they ignore you. I get it there are maybe 3-4 employees in there and so many clients. There's one or two just walking around and they pick who they go to. I spend big bucks when I order online, so I decided to just check out an in store experience (my first time in a real credo store), so now I know to just keep ordering online. Sometimes, no matter how nice the products are, but the people selling the products aren't friendly (at least fake it if you're not), then anyone would walk out. No different than walking to an Hermes looking like a bum and ended up buying 2 Birkins, so I don't know if you work on commission, but....... It affects sales. read more

I went here in July earlier this year, but even months later the customer service experience I received here sticks out in my memory in the most positive way! I came in with a vague idea with what I wanted ("umm...some kind of lip tint?") and came out with a lip tint, sunscreen and dry shampoo. Ha! I have been shopping at Credo for years and always had a good experience. I recommended the store to a friend. My friend went today (8/2/20) around 4:30pm. There was a sign on the (see through, glass) door that said "at capacity, please wait." My friend signaled a hello wave to the female salesperson inside - a woman he said was in her 20's with brunette hair and tan skin and a "50's updo" - who waved back at him to wait. It was 90+ degrees outside. He stood out there in the sun sweltering until 5pm when the Credo woman opened the door and said, "Oh by the way we're closing now and I have to help my existing customer in there so you need to go." He was flabbergasted. She wouldn't let him step one foot inside and was arrogant and rude in demeanor. Plus, she couldn't have told him that at 4:30? 4:45? That's freaking ridiculous. My friend is, like, the nicest human being you could ever hope to meet. He didn't deserve that and it reflects poorly on me. I contacted Credo and they immediately identified the rude woman as the MANAGER(!?), Janell Rodriguez. Janell claimed the store was closed when my friend arrived but couldn't explain why, if it was closed, there was a sign on the door saying to wait (as opposed to, well, closed) OR why she made eye contact, signaled to wait and then just didn't come over until ages later at which point she wouldn't allow entry. If the store was closed, put a closed sign up. Regardless, don't let someone just wait there in 90 degree heat; take a brief moment to say, "Hey, we're at capacity now and we'll be closed by the time you could probably enter so you may want to come back another time." Courtesy 101. But Janell not only failed to do that, she actively lied to me when I asked her about her conduct later. In fairness, a woman named Cathy, who Janell identified as the Director of Operations, did later send a polite apology, which I appreciated, although the apology should have been to my friend, not me, and I wish Janell had apologized, rather than just been rude, lied about it and passed the buck to poor Cathy. I went in to try products with a lady friend of mine. The service was terrible! All of the staff was standing around talking to eachother instead of providing customer engagement. They were putting makeup on each other and having playtime instead of attention to my friend. We ending up leaving because we felt it was unsanitary, unprofessional and there are other more reputable clean beauty stores in the area. Elyse was amazing! She helped me find a tinted moisturizer and concealer and I loved them so much I came back the next day to get mascara, eye shadow, blush and liner. This makeup is phenomenal / different natural/cruelty free options and most are vegan. My face is already so much more supple and I didn't realize my old stuff was drying me out. Going *again* today to take advantage of their recycling program and to get nail polish if they have it. Do it. Think about what you buy and what you put on your skin!! read more

This store has LITERALLY changed my life. (And I know that sounds a tiny bit dramatic, but I am SO SERIOUS.) From the first moment I walked in over a year ago, my whole concept of beauty and skin care and wellness in general has completely shifted by 180 degrees. They have an extensive collection of products from perfume to make-up remover to dry brushes that is tailored to anyone and everyone; All with an emphasis on natural ingredients and whole-hearted conscientious production and even recycling. (Kjaer Weiss being my fav for make-up specifically.) BUT ABOVE ALL, and most importantly, the STAFF is TREMENDOUS. They are so welcoming and smart, fun and fresh. Vivi was so helpful. I walked in looking for a candle and walked out with a great Marie Veronique serum. I really appreciated how they gave us space to browse, but made it easy when I did have questions. She really knew her stuff and made it easy to find the product my skin needed. The products are not cheap, but high quality. All of the samples that they shared when checking out helped too. I didn't catch the person behind the counters name but they were great - funny and offering recommendations since we had similar skin tones. Will be back! read more

You need to visit Credo You know those instagrams where people lay out their gorgeous cosmetics bottles on carrera marble, bleached wood or faux fur? Well imagine a whole store dedicated to those instagram flat lays, it's Credo. All the brands they carry have the most gorgeous packaging, so the store looks like a Pinterest board IRL. You'll find a mix of brands you've heard of, and some you've never seen before. I could have stayed all day, but this neighborhood is packed, and Matcha was next on my list. I was there on a mission, to pick up a really niche oil (Goe Oil) my boyfriend is obsessed with. It's not really sold in stores, and it's double the price on Amazon. Credo is the one place that I know carries it in store. I also left with some adorable cocofloss and some mini travel size skincare (I was flying back on with just a carry-on so I had to keep it small. It was packed inside but their employee Alex helped me find a whole new skin routine, even though the whole store was busy. I have very sensitive skin and don't know much about clean beauty, but Alex was super helpful and patient and helped me pick out some products I'm already obsessed with. Horrible customer service! It was my very first time visiting a Credo Beauty store ever. None of the ladies in that shift wanted to help I asked a question about a product and they keep ignoring me and my mom. I wanted to know more about the product. I have the vibes those ladies who do customer service in that store have an attitude of DIVAS or celebrity. It was weird to be there. Then when I went to pay no one wanted to come and proceed my purchase. The entire visit was uncomfortable they made me feel like I was less. I won't come back to this store. Went in for a few more samples today. Finally caught the name of one the regular worker bee who always recommends the BEST products for me: ASTORIA. Her skin is super inspiring! She recommended the LILY LOLO foundation and NU eye concealer/camouflage for me months ago and I swear my skin has never looked better. It's a shame the customer service here is basically non existent because it's one of the only green beauty stores with a good range of brands in the area. The staff that was here either had limited knowledge or zero desire to help. I walked the tiny store a few times trying to figure who actually works there to ask a simple question. I finally asked one of the girls for a natural mascara and she showed me ONE and when I told her it isn't for me she didn't bother showing me anything else, she just walked away. I was confused if she was representing that one brand or if she actually even worked there. You're better off shopping online and returning what doesn't work. There was one person there who was super busy and helping clients. I heard her ask for some back up and no one was interested. Credo Beauty is simply magical and came into my life at the most perfect moment! I have been transitioning from conventional makeup to clean makeup and thanks Kevin (you can find him at the soho location) my life has changed! Sounds extreme? I'm not kidding! Before switching over my skincare routine/makeup the conventional makeup I was using was literally burning my face in patches. I tried everything not realizing that the chemicals in the products I was using to clear up my skin was the reason why my skin was burning in the first place! Kevin has literally swapped my entire makeup / skincare products and has saved my skin! He is my forever go to and is pure genius! He continues to educate me and always gets it right! Selection looks great but alas they have major customer service issues like another reviewer here notes. Door was still locked few minutes after they were supposed to be open this morning. It took a couple of minutes until someone finally unlocked the door. I walked in and salesperson ignored me and acted like my presence was an inconvenience for her. The first time I walked into credo, I wanted to see what a natural brand store I hadn't heard of had to offer, and they first of all have a plethora of amazing, unique and really well rounded products. Secondly, I ended up speaking with Allie for about an hour about everything makeup, skincare and haircare related, and also everything under the sun. The staff is super warm and friendly. Every time I go in here, Allie greets me and is so genuine and lovely. I love talking skincare with someone who really knows their stuff. I recently had a horrible breakout, a hormonal change after years with great skin. She recommended some stuff I never would have thought of, and because of her, I threw away everything I was using and started using what she recommended. After only a week, it has improved immensely, she spoke to me about taking the time for myself and really giving my skin and soul what it needed, lots and lots of love. Go in here and listen to these girls, their experts and really will take the time to explain whatever you need to know, and give you samples and explain a whole skincare regimen. Overall, truly a wonderful, and honestly quite an experience, yes, when your skin looks clear, calm and smooth you feel great, but actually understanding why you deserve great skin is a whole other story. read more
