My sister gifted me a massage and day at the baths so I went with her and our other sister for a special sisters outing. We each booked the orange massage which was 45 minutes or an hour including a face mask and facial massage. This is how the day went. Walked in at 2:30 and the lobby area was absolutely stunning, mood lighting, water with fruit on the side, comfy lounge seating, it was a total vibe. The women at the front desk were looking us up and down, judging hardcore I felt like an absolute outsider. We were in sweats, dressed comfy, it's a spa for goodness sake we were going to strip down anyways. I guess we didn't have the high class Tribeca vibe they were expecting. That was an immediate turn off for me and when they had asked if we had been there before, they weren't welcoming I'll say that.
They gave us bracelets that they told us would light up when it was time for our massage and shortly after they escorted us to the women's locker room. We each got a locker for our things along with a bath robe and these water shoe slippers that I understand for hygiene purposes but they were gross and uncomfortable. The lockers were also difficult to figure out how to use and not functional whatsoever. After we changed we walked towards the door and entered the baths. There was a woman there, very very kind unlike the people at the front desk and she gave us a quick tour of the baths and told us again that our bracelets would light up when it was time for our massage. The baths are beautiful, the lighting is dark, there are fake candles everywhere, it was moody and romantic and very very cool. They had a salt water pool, a jacuzzi, bath temperature pool, hot pool and a steam room, allegedly. I'll get to that. No sauna, which was honestly insane to me at a high end place like this. And quite frankly a huge disappointment. There was an area to sit outside the steam room and they served delicious mint tea and water. We started in the bath water pool which was recommended. It was long and they had little alcoves. I think they had an appropriate amount of people down there, no pool was overcrowded, we had room to roam without feeling cramped. Next we went into the hot pool and that was the spot for me. It was very relaxing and the place smelled amazing. About 15 minutes into our relaxation they buzzed us for our massages. We couldn't all go in the same room so I went into my own room and my sisters went into a room together.
The massage was bizarre and uncomfortable and not relaxing. The room was freezing. I was so cold throughout the entire massage. I took my wet bathing suit and slippers off and they gave you disposable underwear. I couldn't fit this underwear over my thigh. And I'm a size 6. Not only was it humiliating it made me feel like absolute shit about my body. It's absolutely insane to give a size small underwear to people getting a massage and thinking one size fits all. If this place is aiming to serve a specific clientele they made it abundantly clear with the underwear they gave me. Needless to say I went completely naked. The massage was nothing special, I couldn't breathe at all while on my stomach, was completely stuffed up when I turned onto my back, the face mask was freezing, the scalp massage lasted 30 seconds I had goosebumps from being so cold. After the massage they gave my bathing suit back to me and it was clear they had put it in a heater to get warm while I was in the massage and I appreciated that. Afterwards we got a juice that was included and it was delicious.
Afterwards we went back to the baths and we had plenty of time to enjoy. I guess they come get you when your time is up and we ended up leaving before being asked to leave, so we definitely had plenty of time. The salt water pool, I didn't float, so that was a miss for me. We spent the rest of the afternoon doing the hot pool, jacuzzi and cold water plunge pool, which was so cold but so cool. I went into the steam room and was asked to leave because there was no steam, so it must have been broken. It was the closest thing I could get to a sauna so it was a bummer that the steam room was broken and that they didn't have a sauna to begin with. Afterwards we went into the womens locker room, took showers and sat at their bathroom vanity to blow dry our hair. The brushes they gave you were laughable, could hardly call it a comb. They had hair products that we appreciated. Face products would have been really cool but they didn't have. They had dyson blow dryers and the women attendant in the locker room was a sweet angel. She kept making sure we had everything we needed, just a doll. When we went to check out they asked us if we wanted to tip our masseuse, which of course we did and then we left.
I had an amazing day with my sisters, but I could get a better massage for $100 on LI and not drop $400.
