I had seen the negative reviews but a friend of mine wanted to go for her birthday, so I bit the…read morebullet and paid the $160 admission fee. Unfortunately, our experience did live up to the negative expectations. We were a group of 6. My partner and I were able to successfully check in, but the other 4 (including the birthday girl) were unable to due to their systems being down, resulting in them meeting us inside 45 minutes later. We had paid for a 5-hour time slot, and although they adjusted the time to accommodate their later check-in, we had dinner reservations, so their time was cut short. They received a free drink voucher for the inconvenience, though the birthday girl doesn't drink so this wasn't that helpful. A small refund would've been better but I digress.
Every chair and daybed was "taken" by towels, but the amount of chairs occupied by a body was 8. I personally don't think you should be permitted to "reserve" a seat with a towel, and I wish they'd actually enforce this because it left us with nowhere to sit.
We went to the dining hall to grab lunch and made eye contact with an employee, but he was intentionally avoiding us. I could tell he was busy and likely severely understaffed, but it left us awkwardly standing there because we weren't sure what the process was (do we get sat by someone? is it open seating?) We then went to another dining area that had a host, and the woman working said that this area was "reservation only." What threw me off was that it was a vacant restaurant, with only 3 tables occupied. She directed us to the dining area where we originally were and said it was open seating. We got a table on the patio. After 20 minutes, no one came outside, so I went back inside to ask the server if we order at a counter or with him, and he said passive-aggressively, "I saw you. When I get a second, I'll come to you." I said, "Oh okay, I am outside," and he responded, "Oh, we don't serve out there. We serve inside only." We went back and forth for some time and were left confused on the process. The birthday girl went back to the reservation only area and asked the host if there was availability, and she said she doesn't know and that you have to go to the very front (where we initially checked in), which felt so unnecessary. They made us a "reservation" for 20 minutes later, despite the restaurant being nearly empty. Devil's advocate, maybe they don't have appropriate staffing, but the host was incredibly rude during every interaction and seemed uninterested in helping us. We even asked the server if we did something wrong because the host was mean, and he said he didn't know anything and sort of brushed it off.
Their robes had no pockets, so there was nowhere to put your phone. You may be thinking, "You're at a spa, why do you have your phone on you?" I was unfortunately on-call for work, and even at the restaurant, they said the menus are only accessible by QR code and they have no physical menus. So it seems like the expectation is that you do carry your phone, despite having nowhere to put it. I asked if they could charge the card on file for lunch, and they said no, I had to pay with a physical card, which was of course in my locker because I'm at a spa and have no pockets. At lunch, only some of us had phones, so we had to pass phones around, there is little to no reception, and the WiFi wasn't very strong.
There's no organization for where to hang your robes or put your sandals (no numbered hooks or anything), so your robes and sandals constantly get taken. I stopped hanging my robe because it kept getting stolen, so I left mine on the side of the pool while I swam, but an employee said I can't leave it there. I understand why, but I told her my robe kept getting taken and I didn't want to use someone else's robe or get charged the $8 fee, and she said she gets it and wouldn't want the fee either but it has to be hung somewhere. She was very nice about it, but the policy is frustrating.
I went to shower and the hooks are all outside the shower, outside of where the door flips open, so I couldn't get fully undressed. There are no hooks or shelves inside the shower, the stalls have no locks, and the shampoo pump was broken.
The flip flops are very painful to wear, I wish I brought my own.
The locker room bench had trash on it during both check-in and check-out (plastic bikini bags, empty water bottles, etc.), and the lotion pumps on your way out had hair and plastic wrappers on them.
This was an incredibly steep price for such a stressful experience. I had paid $100 for all-day access to SoJo in Jersey and enjoyed it 10x more.
The only folks I'd like to highlight are those who worked check-in: The woman monitoring the line was sooooo nice, and the man assisting with the kiosk was also nice. Lastly, our server at the restaurant did a great job. These 3 individuals are the only reason this review isn't a 1 star.
I do not recommend. It has so much potential, but it's a no.
