I have visited AIRE a few times, but this was my first visit to the Upper East Side location, and the experience was exceptional. I brought my aunt, who was visiting from out of town, to enjoy a relaxing day at the baths. She recently underwent major surgery, which has limited her mobility, and the entire team went above and beyond to make everything effortless for us. They accommodated her needs with such kindness and grace that we never once felt like we were inconveniencing anyone by asking for a little extra assistance. Gabriella welcomed us at check-in and was genuinely warm, friendly, and attentive from the moment we arrived until we left. She immediately set the tone for an incredible visit. We had massages with Gabriel and Anna, and both treatments were outstanding. We each left feeling completely relaxed and well cared for. Gabriel was also very accommodating outside of the treatment room, which made an already wonderful experience even better. Vanessa in the locker rooms and Alex in the bath area also stood out for their kindness and attentiveness. Every interaction felt sincere, and every member of the team contributed to making the day feel special. AIRE is always a beautiful, one-of-a-kind experience, but what truly sets this location apart is the warmth and genuine hospitality of the team. This was my first time visiting the Upstate West Side Aire facility, and overall I had a very positive experience. Every staff member I encountered was professional and kind, the facilities were beautiful, and the massage was honestly one of the best I've had. The only caveat for me was the experience at the front desk. While the staff member wasn't rude, I did feel that the welcome lacked warmth and attentiveness. I had prepaid for several add-ons, including a hot oil enhancement for the massage, a juice and wellness shot intended to be enjoyed during the bath experience, and an additional pressed juice. While I did receive the oil enhancement during the massage, the other add-ons were never explained or reminded to me throughout my visit. When I went to check out and return my bracelets, I was initially told that I was "all set," and I had to remind the front desk that I had prepaid for additional services. Only then was I given one juice. I appreciated that it was acknowledged, but I was still short the juice shot that was intended to be enjoyed during the bath portion of the experience, which unfortunately never happened. Because everything was prepaid in advance, I also wasn't really sure what I was supposed to do at that point -- ask for a refund for the missed add-on? I didn't want to make a fuss or create an uncomfortable situation, so I just left it alone. But that lack of attentiveness at the end did take away from what was otherwise a very positive experience. I think the front desk role is especially important because that person is both the first and last impression of the experience. They are helping set the tone when guests arrive, but they are also the one wrapping up the final moments before guests leave. As wonderful as the massage, facilities, and atmosphere were, the ending unfortunately became the part that lingered in my mind afterward. We came here for the Valentine's Day experience and were pretty satisfied, although there were a few points of a feedback I think that could make the experience even better. First, I think the location is gorgeous and vibey with ambient lighting and candles everywhere. The music is calming and serene. I really enjoyed the bathhouse and thought that it was extremely spacious with 4 hot tubs of varying temperatures, a saltwater flotarium (my personal fav) and a steam room. Also, our massages were great--maybe we got lucky but Diana and Sean were great massage therapists and did an excellent job! I also loved the amenities in the locker room-- from the Dyson hair options to the other things like combs, moisturizer, mouth wash, etc., they truly had anything you could need to get ready after your experience. A few points of feedback: 1) A sauna would be nice! 2) The massage table face hole was extremely small for my husband (and I've noticed a few others stating the same. I personally didn't notice.) 3) It would make the experience soooo much better to be able to pick the order of when you experience the baths/massage. I visited AIRE Ancient Baths in Chicago back in 2019, and while that location was much larger, the UES location does a wonderful job maximizing the space available in NYC. From the moment we arrived, everyone from the front desk to locker room attendants to the spa staff was kind, attentive, and professional. I love that they offer hot mint tea and flavored waters throughout the experience. We were provided a locker with our own robe, water shoes, and bath mat upon arrival, which made everything feel extra comfortable and seamless. The baths were well-maintained and clean, and the overall atmosphere felt incredibly peaceful. We did the 90-minute Ultimate Couples Experience, and it was truly relaxing. The only small thing I'd change is that I wish the shower temperatures were a bit warmer, but that didn't take away from the overall experience. My favorite was the saltwater bath - I managed to fall asleep and take a nap to the music they play under water while I floated! I loved how tranquil the entire experience was. Very disappointing experience over Memorial Day weekend -- definitely read the critical reviews before you book a trip here. First off there was NO hot water in the showers whatsoever, despite being told upon check in that "the water may not be hot enough." Very misleading and totally inaccurate. In fact a previous Yelp review had already pointed out the hot water problem right before my visit, but AIRE chose to stay open despite knowing what was going on. Not an honest business practice. Then I discovered that something in the bathwater was abrasive enough to ruin my quality, expensive swimsuit (see image), which also happened to another Yelper as indicated in their review. I have been to many other spas and bathhouses before with no issues concerning the water whatsoever, but after AIRE my skin and hair were dried out and irritated for several days, in addition to the ruined suit. Upon communicating with the Front Desk Manager I was offered a complimentary session but I explained to her that I was newly pregnant and would not be able to visit the baths for a very long time. I asked for the cost of the complimentary session to be refunded but was denied, and at this point given the high chemical content in the water I am not even comfortable returning. Absolutely amazing experience. Extremely relaxing and full of tranquility. Lots of staff (who know you by name) to guide you and point you in the right direction. Very dark, with candles and the illuminated baths being the light sources. Quiet, and has a whisper- only policy to preserve tranquility. The float pool was really neat. I also appreciated the different temperature baths, including the cold plunge, hot tub area, and steam room. The steam room had peppermint/ eucalyptus aromatherapy. Water and mint tea was readily available, along with cold pressed juices if you pre purchased them. The 60 minute massage was nice. It could've been deeper and more thorough. It was a very standard massage, but relaxing, nonetheless. My spa experience was pretty good, the highlight for me was the baths and the mint sauna room. They have a no phone policy so I couldn't get any pictures or videos inside. The massage was fair I've had better massages that cost way less but my masseuse Zeel was very gentle. Customer service was pretty good, Claudia was amazing helping the ladies in the bathroom. I was only able to grab pics of the entrance because they have a strict no phone policy beyond the changing room. The baths were so soothing and relaxing. I absolutely loved it. After our bath experience was over, the next stop was our 60-min massages. While the massage was almost perfect, my gripe is the order of events. I expected the massage first and then finishing off my morning in the baths. Imagine, you're soaking wet -- yes, you dry off before you lie on the table -- but it's still an icky feeling that I didn't like. When I politely asked for the music to be changed or lowered, I was told it wasn't possible and the masseuse put a towel over my ears, which was a very strange and insensitive reaction. Religious music, especially when not understood or curated with cultural sensitivity, has no place in a spa. I've never encountered this at high-end spas like Mandarin Oriental or Bathhouse in NYC. The baths themselves we're not super busy, which I like because it gives this aura of exclusivity. The steam room was my favorite! Love the no cell phone policy. I also ordered a juice and would prefer if it was fresh pressed instead of store-bought. The staff were friendly and excellent and I also appreciated the woman with the blonde hair with a braid (sorry, don't know her name) because I asked her how many minutes are left and she politely told me that my time is up, but she wouldn't ask me to leave, which was a nice way to say that my time was up. We had a 10:00am massage appointment and received a message instructing us to arrive at least 30 minutes early. Wanting to be respectful and ensure everything was in order, we arrived at 9:00am. When we got there, the doors were locked and we were actually let in by an Amazon delivery driver after calling and being told staff would be notified and would let us in. Once inside, it was clear the spa wasn't prepared to open. No one was ready for the day, and we later found out they don't even open until 10:00am (and were told by the manager they sometimes open even later). This was confusing, especially since we had previously seen hours listed as opening at 8:00am and were explicitly told to arrive early. When someone finally came to check us in, there was no greeting or acknowledgment of the confusion. The manager in particular was dismissive and made it seem like the situation was entirely our fault. An older woman with glasses was especially rude and visibly irritated, despite this being an honest misunderstanding caused by unclear communication. This situation could have been handled so differently with simple professionalism. Something as easy as, "Hi, I'm so sorry for the confusion. We open at 10:00am, and the doors will be open at 9:30am," would have gone a long way. Instead, we were left sitting uncomfortably in the lobby for 30 minutes, barely acknowledged, while overhearing staff making comments and snickering nearby, which felt completely unprofessional. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, especially compared to the excellent service we've received at the Tribeca location. Better communication and more considerate customer service would make a huge difference here. Spending $600 for a massage and experience started on an upsetting note. We also were not the only people to show up early. At 9:30am a couple girls came, checked in and even asked to use the restroom, and were denied saying they can't because they're in the locker room and they don't have access yet. Came as a walk in for my birthday and they were able to accommodate an amazing massage and use of the baths which were phenomenal. The space is very nice, but again downtown is just way more impressive. The temp in the overall space was a little chilly, which isn't great for popping in and out of baths and cold plunges. Also the jacuzzi room water was not warm, nevertheless hot. Lastly, all do the mirrors in the locker room steam up and are unusable. I never received my booking confirmation via email. For such an expensive service, that is absolutely unacceptable. Without it, I was left wondering if I needed to contact my bank. I spent over 40 minutes on the phone, waiting for someone -- anyone -- to answer. No one ever did. At the same time, I tried using their online chat service. I watched my place in line go from two to one... and then the agent went offline. I tried again, reached number one in line, waited another 10 minutes -- and again, the agent went offline. I took screenshots. Out of options, I called their Tribeca location -- the phone situation there was exactly the same. No one picked up. For a business that only opened three months ago, with just a handful of global locations and a large staff-to-client ratio, they are already demonstrating an extremely lazy approach to communication. I've also noticed that across several of their locations, they do not reply to negative reviews -- a red flag that they are not managing customer feedback or protecting their reputation. To be clear, I've visited their London and Chicago locations. I had a similar issue at the Chicago location, where the online agent was also unreachable -- though after several tries, I was at least able to get someone on the phone. I did not experience this problem at all in London. Perhaps this is an issue with the U.S.-based staff -- I can't say for certain. At this point, I strongly suspect the staff here have a "not my job, not my problem" mindset -- which is incredibly disappointing for a brand trying to position itself as a premium service. Based on how my interaction with them tomorrow goes IF I do have the appointment I booked I will leave a separate review on the facilities and service however, this one will remain as a fair warning to those who like to plan ahead and like communication options in the event you have issues of any kind. read more

Extremely disappointed with our visit to AIRE Ancient Baths. For the $800 price tag on a couples massage, we expected a true luxury spa experience -- but the reality was far from it. We originally booked the Tribeca location a week and a half in advance, and were emailed just a few days before our appointment that it was closed for renovations. We were moved to the UES location instead. After rebooking, we immediately emailed to request a female massage therapist, which we did for personal reasons -- something that should be a reasonable and standard accommodation, especially at this price point. When we arrived, we were told no requests could be honored, despite female therapists clearly being available and waiting. For a spa that claims to offer a premium, personalized experience, this was incredibly disappointing and felt dismissive. The atmosphere was also far from relaxing. The space is extremely dark, to the point where it's hard to see where you're walking - would not recommend for safety reasons and the bath area has a strong chemical smell that made us both feel lightheaded. It felt more awkward than luxurious. We waited awhile before our massage with no communication or updates. I had to ask the staff for information, which broke any sense of calm or relaxation the space was meant to provide. Finally, when we reached out afterward to request a refund due to a number of issues, we were told they could not accommodate us. They told us we would be able to rebook at the desk downstairs but no one approached us or talked to us for 15 minutes as we waited on the couch, we just ordered our car and left. Overall, the experience did not live up to expectations or the price tag. AIRE may look beautiful online, but the service, atmosphere, and responsiveness were not at all reflective of a luxury spa. This Upper East Side spa is in a beautiful brick building offering pools, sauna, massage and amenities. The staff was amazing and gave me a thorough tour of the facility. Very unique space (UES NYC). Ample facility, it never felt like there were more than a couple people around. We did the Monet experience so we were there for a few hours. Scrub treatments and massages were excellent. Loved the salt pool float experience. Also hot bath, jacuzzi, and steam room were excellent. Other baths were great too but those others stood out. Locker room attendant (men's) was outstanding. Locker dressing area was a little tight but all amenities were great. Quick dry and bagging of the bathing suit a nice touch. Never felt rushed. Avoid. Weirdest spa/massage experience I've ever had. The time you book for your massage may not actually be the time at which they massage you. They may send you to the baths first which means you actually can't plan your day around this. No idea why they wouldn't do it like a normal place and your appointment time is your appointment time, and you can either come early or stay after to enjoy the baths. They make you arrive 15 minutes early but then just leave you in the lobby until a few mins before your start time so then you're rushed trying to get ready even though you've been there for over 10 minutes already in purgatory. There is no explanation about the lockers and how to lock them unless you ask. The person who showed me to mine opened someone else's by mistake and their stuff was completely on display, and then I was given the locker next to it knowing that this person's locker was unlocked next to mine. So many design flaws. The stairs are all open on the bottom meaning if you're nude after a massage and wearing a robe and someone is walking under the stairs while you're walking up them, then they can get a full view. Also the walls in the massage rooms are paper thin, I could hear every word and noise coming from the next room. The massage table itself was the strangest. There is a tiny hole for your face, nowhere near what normal massage tables look like. The masseuse asked multiple times "if I could breathe" because it seems many people are unable to actually breathe comfortably through the hole, which seems like a pretty big issue? Lastly my massage was bad. There is a big difference between rubbing someone's body and actually massaging them, and since I've seen other reviews complain about the actual massage as well, I suspect they need to retrain many of these masseuses. I also asked mainly for one area to be concentrated on and the person only spent about 5 minutes lightly touching that area before moving onto all the secondary areas I'd asked for and did each of those areas twice rather than ever going back to where I needed the most help.
