I've been here so many times (since I live in the area) and this store has never changed. The displays are a mess, always out of stock, lack of selection and the employees are rude/dismissive! What irks me the most is that they ignore customers yet they get so upset when I refuse their help when they try to sell me some gimmick product in the skin care section! What really ticked me off about this location: The other day I sent my boyfriend to buy me the new Clarisonic Smart Profile while I was at work. Understandably, he had no idea what he was looking for and was frantically trying to make sure he was buying the right product. As he stood in the skincare section, obviously dumbfounded by the different Clarisonic models, he was ignored by the workers at this location. He told me he tried smiling and signally them for some help but they would look away or start talking to another associate or customer. Eventually he understood what I was looking for and since no one was willing to help him, he went ahead and tried pulling out the box from the display. I guess for security reasons, the box is slightly larger than the height clearance of the shelf. He kept looking around for help and was afraid to break something if he was too aggressive. After waiting for so long, he got fed up of being ignored and just yanked that sucker out of the display. Of course, it made a loud sound and got someone's attention. He suddenly turned around to a mob of angry Sephora employees. They took the box out of his hands and said "we'll hold it at the counter for you".. As if he was going to steal and walk out with a box larger than his head! He came home telling me how rude these women were to him. He told me he tried lightening up the mood by apologizing and joking with the cashier by letting her the Clarisonic is a gift for me.. But nope, she wasn't having it! I think these employees need more training and learn to be more pleasant.. Otherwise they shouldn't be working in retail! I understand if it's busy but it was almost 8pm and the store was nearly empty. I ended up returning the Clarisonic the next day and when I did, I made it a point to let them know how I felt about this location. They offered an empty "oh I'm sorry you feel that way ma'am".. All in all, go to another location. It's worth traveling into Manhattan and visiting one of their more reputable stores. I guess management at the Manhattan locations actually give a shit about customer service. This branch of Sephora is a continual disappointment and badly in need or a manager who knows how to supervise staff. I wasted 20 minutes there yesterday, waiting on a long line to buy one item. There was one employee staffing the register AND answering the phone, while all other employees were standing around, asking if they could help people or saying, "Hello." Except for the woman who was supervising the line, instructing people on where to stand. When she wasn't trying to sell additional items to the people on line. I wonder if this is Sephora sales policy--to try to sell additional items to "hostage" customers? read more

I live in the neighborhood and dread having to go to this Sephora, I am a VIP Beauty Member but I rather go to a Sephora near my job or online. I went to the Forest Hills Sephora this past Sunday to buy the Sephora brand eyebrow pencil. I knew the color I needed; I thought it would be easy. No one greeted me. When I went to look for the pencil they didn't have the color. I looked at an employee that worked there and she just looked at me and looked away. I opened the bottom draw to see if maybe they had more in stock, the employee looked at me and looked away. AGAIN). I didn't want to mess the draw up and finally asked her if she can help me look for the color I need she says to me "I work in the fragrance section (directly behind me) and tells me I am not supposed to go in the cabinet and walks away from me. Now I'm like is she kidding me. I try to go to the register to ask for another brand of eyebrow pencil. At the register the cashier lady who also appeared like a manager, I say excuse me can I ask you a quick question (the person she was ringing up left their money in their car and went to get there wallet in the car) the cashier/manager says I am waiting for this lady to come back with her wallet I can't help you go stand on the line. I said I have a question regarding the makeup I am not trying to have you ring me up. She says "Oh, well stand online anyway." At this point I head enough of the rude behavior from that store, keeping in mind I was walking around with a 2 year old and a stroller, it is not the most spacious place for me to be sent around. If I could give them zero stars I would! the service here is horrible! I've been here about 4 times and whenever I ask for help I am told to wait and the sales girls are gossiping amongst themselves and glance over once in a blue abut don't actually come over. I am never greeted when I walk in. I am not just looking, I am looking to make purchases but end up leaving every time. I would rather wait and go to another store rather than come here again. I usually come to this location for convenience, but it always feels a bit cramped, when I go. Today it seemed like they were hiding the $30.00 bottle of perfume that I wanted, and had the bigger and more expensive bottle of perfume, out for purchase. I had to request it from a sales associate who had a stash of them in the drawer. The sales associate looked a bit annoyed, not sure why. I wouldn't linger too long at this location. I've been to better Sephora locations, but like I mentioned earlier, I come here for convenience, plus Forest Hills is a cute neighborhood. read more

Every time I have gone into this tiny Sephora store, I was invisible. Not one salesperson even bothered to come up to me to ask if I needed help and if I happened to be near the door, a salesperson would suddenly see me and say goodbye. I felt that unless you are a teenager and looking for a free make over, then the sales help would be there for you. Today was a different story, but only because the salesperson was from a particular company showcasing a new product. Yes, this Sephora is very small and it gets very busy, but overall my experience here has been nice. Every time I come to return something I didn't have to wait too long and I have seen how crazy the lines can get. The workers here are very engaging and hardworking, this Sephora for its size, is doing great. The ones in Manhattan are huge yes, but the lines are even longer. I always have a hard time finding someone to help me in the Sephoras located in Manhattan. In this Sephora there are workers always greeting you and they're available to assist you. read more

Stephanie did my makeup and she did an amazing job!! Right away she was warm and welcoming, asked me what my visions were for my look, and gave her recommendations. She asked before choosing colors or tones which I thought was really nice instead of doing what she wanted. She really took the time to pick a look that would complement my eyes and skin tone, and she was spot on. We went with a "Valentines/Smokey/Sultry" look. She clearly took her time and did a throrough job, explained the products to me as she used them, answered any questions I had along the way, and gave me some tips as well. I really admire that they use the best quality products that they think you'll benefit from! Brands like Dior, Anastasia and NARS, urban decay etc. Additionally, I was not pressured into purchasing any products in the end, which was awesome lol. A TRUE GODSEND! These people ( Jay and Dani) saved my wedding day! (June 24, 2011)I had a makeup appointment down the block and the artist seemed to not care that he was running late. I then decided to calmly leave the salon and try Sephora. They were kind enough to do both my makeup and my mother's, without an appointment. Our makeup looked flawless and lasted through the night. I, like many others, have an issue with the staff at this location. Regina in Skin care is the only nice associate in the entire store. the women who work in the makeup section are not knowledgeable and are rude. But NO ONE is more rude than the woman who works in the fragrance section. She never smiles, never says thank you, she's just awful. I have to get away from her every time i enter the store because her negative energy infects the place! these sales associates need serious training in customer service skills!!! read more

I am incredibly disappointed with the level of service in the Forest Hills New York store. I am Sephora card member, and today (12/4/16) I left without making my purchase because the line was long to begin with, but then one of the cashiers misdirected it so that several people who were behind me ended up in front of me and then wouldn't move. There were only three cashiers working (and at least 15 people in line) and the line did't move the entire time I was standing there. Sadly, this is not the first time I have walked out. The store is chaotic, with displays that are unevenly stocked and blaring loud music. It is rare that the item I am looking for is on the shelf, I usually have to ask someone to get it from me from a back room. The people who work there always seem harried, distracted, and are constantly asking for help at the cash register. The cashiers seem very confused by the cash resister operation, which in turn holds up the always long lines. This is why folks switch to shopping online, and why I will no longer be shopping at Sephora but just find what I need on Amazon and get free shipping. read more

I am a frequent shopper at this Sephora location and never have I been welcomed as I was on this visit to Sephora. I have to say as I opened the door this pretty girl named Lauren gave me a huge welcome to Sephora greeting me with welcoming arms even calling me and the other shoppers "gorgeous". I can see she is obviously new to this store and knows where everything is. Even her knowledge on the products is outstanding. Thanks to her she helped me picked out a highlighter and foundation. Not only her but there were numerous other friendly staff that helped me but not as much as she helped me. read more

I am only giving this store a five-star review because of the lovely Danielle and her expertise and willingness to help. I do not wear foundation or any makeup on my face but I want to! and so, about once a year I come into this store looking to get matched with the right shade of foundation, only to get home and find that it's too pink, or too yellow, or too light. Today I came in with the same hope, in spite of many disappointments. Danielle took a careful look at my face (no color IQ necessary) and came back with a handful of different brands in different shades, tried them, tossed them, and PATIENTLY kept trying new ones until she found the right one. In all of my failed experiences at Sephora, the makeup expert uses the color IQ tool, fetched the first one or two brands on the top of the list and then dismisses any hesitation on my part. Not Danielle. And the best part? I came home and put on a full face and I am still sure this is the best shade for me. That woman is a GEM! read more

This sephora is the worst sephora I have ever been to!! I live 10mins away from this location despite that I rather just hop on the train and go to any sephora in the city. Customer service here is horrible starting with the manager Johana they should really get rid of her if they want their business to remain open because with a manager like her you might as well just close down the store. I have never recieved such horrible customer service in any store in my life until one day when I came in to do a return!!! She refused my return which was a eyeshadow pallet that was new and I had the receipt. She said sephora didn't do returns anymore. At this point she recognized me she remembered that I was the beautiful girl that her fiancé cheated on her with 10yrs ago. Way to hold a grudge. But anyways I went back to my house and sent my sister in to the store to do the exchange for me which worked. I got my money back on a gift card and than went back in the store with my sister by my side. She could not believe that I fooled her. Not to mention I called sephora head quarters and opened up a case against her.
