I needed a foundation to "tie me over " until I could find my old foundation. I like the algorithm they use to try and find you something similar to what you had. I went in there I thin a couple weekends ago... I've noticed as I'm getting older sometimes I get ignored by staff in retail stores , especially when I'm not all dolled up when I go to makeup stores, if I'm wearing just regular clothes, no makeup, being older, sometimes I get kind of ignored. Not so the last time I went. I looked not cute at all just running errands for the day, dorky clothes no makeup, the young girl working there was very sweet and friendly and greeted me, she even helped me find some shampoo for colored hair. I really really appreciated her friendliness cuz I had gone here a couple times a few months ago and no greeting or initiated help from staff I was a bit turned off, but I really liked this girl, dark hair I don't know her name very sweet and kind. she gave me a positive experience. I just had a disappointing visit to our local Sephora. I bought myself a Tinted Moisturizer back in November because I thought mine was almost out. I didn't need to open it until this week and it smells awful (like a stale smell). I went to exchange it for a new one and I was told there is only a 30 day return policy. The product I took to exchange doesn't have an expiration date until 02/27 but it smells "old". I'm surprised that they wouldn't honor my exchange for a product that obviously went bad. I generally love this Sephora, and most of the employees are amazing. However, I had an awful experience trying to return a powder compact that was barely used once (and clearly too light for me) at the 42 day mark. The Manager, Cheyenne (I'm sure I didn't get the spelling right - I had to get her name out of her coworker once I was at the register) refused to exchange the product as a one time courtesy. She then gave me the run around and told me to contact Sephora customer service using their listed number online. Sephora customer service said that since it was an in-store purchase they could not help. As I had stepped outside to call customer service, I came back in and told Cheyenne about the conversation. I asked if she would reconsider the return, particularly because of the age of my Beauty Insider account and my VIB Rouge status. She refused again. . . . Thai location is my favorite. Although it isn't as big as the one at the Irvine Spectrum, at least it's not a madhouse and still has an array of choices to choose from. If you don't find what you're looking for they can place the order for you online, and and the shipping is free. It's always very clean and the employees are helpful and friendly. I dont shop in-store for many reasons (sometimes the products I want are online only, I cant take advantage of the online promo codes in store, and sometimes there is only one cashier and I don't like to wait a long time in line to checkout) but I do spend thousands at Sephora online. HOWEVER... its because of the in-person stores and associates that I am able to do so much online shopping. When a new product is released that I'm interested in but I dont know if it will work well with my hair type or skin type, I head to my local store (foothill ranch) for a sample. The employees are great about helping with this. Once being able to try the product, I know if its a good fit for me or not, which really helps. I would be much less likely to order a product without trying it first. This is where Sephora has the big advantage over Ulta, because Ulta never gives you samples of anything. Also when a new makeup product comes out and Im not sure of the colors from the online pictures, I head to the store to try out the testers and color match myself and sometimes ask the advice of the staff. I probably could not buy makeup without being able to find the right color in-person first. Im writing this review because the store and its staff is valuable and should get due credit, even though I'm an online shopper. Recently I was in to test out colors for a new makeup and looking for a good primer that actually works without clogging pores and causing breakouts, and it had to be something cruelty free too. I was assisted by Alora and she was great. She made me samples and gave me recommendations. Good customer service like this is the reason I spend a fortune with their company year after year. They don't give you a guilt trip just for coming in to test colors or to get a sample, like commissioned makeup counter sales girls do. Keep up the good work Sephora. read more

I just had a good and bad experience at this Sephora. A nice girl helped me originally. Then another nice girl. I discussed the one lady about the supergroup set that was priced for $30. I decided to buy and then it rang up as $44. When I inquired I showed the sales clerk that there were about 10 of this product line up behind the price $30. She called a manager who was rude and abrupt saying that it was clearly not the same name and that price was marked in the right hand corner. I had no idea the price was in the corner as the price is small compared to the writing in front of the product. I would give this manager a 1 for meanness and not taking ANY accountability for the product having the wrong price in front of it even though there was NO other price nearby and she claimed that it was the price somewhere over on the right of the product display despite having 2 rows of the product in front of the $30. I'm disappointed in general and not sure I will keep it after that display of callousness. Ugh I would give the store a 4 since it's small but has lots of product choice and a 1 for the manager that morning. read more

I came in today with my boyfriend looking to buy a perfume that i recently sampled, i've had bad experiences at sephoras in the past as far as feeling profiled and being followed throughout the store. Jessyca came up to us and started asking a ton of questions and asked me for my beauty insider info. i am normally asked this when i'm at the register not while i am browsing around. it felt like she was trying to get my name to be able to identify me. i didn't think much of it until she asked my boyfriend for his info as well. he obviously does not have a beauty insider account but she kept pushing for him to give her his details and make an account of his own after he had said no. it was a strange interaction for sure. not sure if i'm overreacting but it made me sad. she also told us to come to her before we go to get my birthday gift from sephora but it felt more like she wanted us to check in with her before we go to ensure we know that she's watching us. read more

Don't get me wrong I love Sephora.I went in looking for a product for my mom and I was being helped by this very nice lady and I asked for a sample so she got it and this guy Patrick approaches me asking if I need help I said no and he proceeded to sell me things.he said "ok period" every other word and he showed me a product and put it on his hands and said look do you see the redness it's gone I said no because I didn't see it and then he put it on MY hand I was a little violated and he said do you see the redness versus your other hand with the serum and he asked me if I needed glasses.I was at a loss for words at the moment.Patrick disturbed me and my shopping experience so I took my buissness elsewhere.All the employees Ive ever met at Sephora are helpful and kind Patrick was not. Alright, sit down because this is about to be a long one. Let me preface by saying I loved all things make up and beauty but as a mom who has lost touch with reality and at this point the beauty industry I have no idea what the heck I am doing. I feel like my self care with beauty flew out the window, but on this particular day (yesterday) I really wanted to treat myself and get it together! As someone who would typically never ask for help in a beauty store I lost all shame after having a kid as she is super social and forces me to talk to strangers since she waves to nearly all of them. I came in alone and decided to do what my daughter does and flagged a stranger. In this case an employee asking for their expertise in the perfume section. That's when my new bestie Alani ( forgive me If I am wrong on spelling) humored me and gave me different scents to smell until we found the right one for me. The perfume smelled insanely good. Sorry besties but I am keeping that secret for me. Anyway she should be promoted because she was patient and kind and didn't look at me crazy for coming in with crocs and disheveled hair. I placed an order for in store pick up and am unable to pick up the item within their 5 day time frame. The item is now sold out everywhere and when I called and asked if I could pick it up the following morning they said "no, our system doesn't allow us to make extensions" umm hello?
