I stop by this MAC Cosmetics store a couple times a year when I'm at the mall, especially this time of the year, when they always have a sale and special discount going on. The store is a small, stand-alone store but it carries pretty much everything I need. Only issue is, many times I stood around waiting and there's no one in the front of the store. After a while, someone would come out from the back to assist. When you do get someone to acknowledge and assist, then service is good. read more

I wanted to give a shout out to Lupita! I had a great experience at your store yesterday evening. I had just gone to buy a concealer and was feeling rushed and stressed all day. Lupita provided a 5 star experience for me as she took the time and patience to apply a foundation on my skin that I was interested in. Everyone is very helpful once you start talking to someone and asking for help. Usually very busy helping other people. Sometimes I'm not taken very seriously because I look so young, but when an employee does begin helping me they're good with offering advice and though they're busy they try to be attentive. Product wise, they by far are the best I've ever used. The lipstick is AMAZING and doesn't come off easily which is good. With other brands I have to reply it throughout the day, but with MAC I hardly have to do that. I love when they have temporary colors like the spring collection, m's the celebrity ones (Ariana grande, Miley Cyrus, etc.) because you can get it and when it stops selling not many other people will be using it. Brand loyal 20 yrs. Turned away at the counter for recycling because they no longer accept travel size fix spray. The sales persons were dull and left me feeling unwelcome and embarassed. I came solely to exchange my items. The one time I wasn't there to plunk down 200 a visit. I have considered switching cosmetics for yrs now because MAC is chemical laden and tests on animals. MAC satin eye shadows have been the ONLY shadows,out of many brands, that haven't ended with an allergic reaction and Rx for steroids for much of 2015. Received postcard from MAC, who apparently started MAC Select rewards program this year, to redeem for a free eyeshadow at a MAC store, or online, with a purchase during my anniversary month of April. Easy to order online, free 2 day shipping and free returns, and a free sample. Ended up phoning MAC a few times with various questions, and also about returning an eyeliner that irritated my super sensitive eyes. I want to take a moment to thank Noelle for her fabulous service. I called this location on December 4th to schedule a Fashion in 15 service to have my eyeshadow done for a wedding on December 17th at 12:30. When I arrived at this location, the employee that initially helped me thought that they weren't supposed to schedule any services for today. I pulled up my email confirmation and found that the person I spoke with on the phone on December 4th at approximately 1:34 PM had scheduled me for an appointment on December 4th at 12:30 instead of the 17th. I was so afraid I was going to get turned away, but Noelle and the rest of the staff were so amazing. It was busy but they all made me feel like a valued customer. I came in here today and I was looking for Turquatic for my sister when I met and talked with Noel. Noel was exceedingly nice and very gracious! She helped a lot and was very knowledgeable about the foundation I was using which was Studio Fix NW25. She helped me with a color corrector, and when she applied the foundation and the color corrector it made my stubble disappear, she is a magician. Furthermore, she was very hospitable and helpful as it related to helping me apply the foundation, color corrector, and also choosing, buying some lip liners, lipsticks, and the aforementioned color corrector. I'm a long time MAC customer and was one of the first PPID customers back in the day. I've spent a ton of money in these stores over the years as you can imagine since I've had a long career as an actress and model. I hate to do this but I've never had such a bad experience at a MAC store, so I just had to say something. Horrible horrible experience! For starters, I had a busy day planned. There was a costume party I was attending that evening, so I had an appointment for hair, followed by makeup at MAC. At my first appointment, I went to pay and discovered that my wallet was missing out of my purse. After frantically making phone calls, I was able to use a friend's credit card to settle up my bill. I then phoned MAC because that was where my next appointment was and it was pretty much back to back appointments scheduled. I really didn't have time for something like this to go down but the show must go on. I explained the situation and was told that as long as I was an authorized user on the credit card, I would be able to charge it via the number and billing info. So I head on over. Got my makeup done by Kat. She was amazing! Zero complaints about her. She's one of the best people I've ever had do my makeup and I've had my makeup done by a lot of talented people. It's the manager, Carli, that was working Thursday, October 29th during my 11 am makeup appointment that was awful and a total heartless b!tch! I don't ever want to go back to this store again if she's there. I'm going to call corporate about this too. I'm that angry! Now granted, I did lose my wallet and I take full responsibility for that. I tried to put the shoe on the other foot. Maybe she thought I was some shyster trying to rip off the MAC store, or that I didn't get paid yet and was trying to have MAC front me a makeup application on a loan, or who knows what she was thinking about me but that's neither the case. Not to mention there are other things about me that signify I'm not some broke-ass, trying to pull a fast one, if one was smart, one could have picked up on. Or perhaps she could have looked up my long history of purchasing in MAC stores before judgment was passed. Instead, I was treated like I was the lowest of the low of individuals, when I was already having the day from hell! I mean kick me when I'm down, will ya? As you can imagine, losing your wallet and being from Vegas in California with zero money or credit cards, your phone dying and charge cord not working, running out of gas, etc. I was having a really bad day! She refused to accept my friend's credit card, even though he went to the trouble of calling his bank to add me as an authorized user because of what I had been told over the phone. While I racked my brain to come up with solutions so they wouldn't feel cheated, this awful manager gave me a very smug smirk and asked if I was wearing lashes, which I was and she said, "Ok, we'll have to take the lashes off then." I mean, she might as well have grabbed me and said ok we're going to forcibly wash all of this makeup off now. I was appalled! I even offered to leave the only form of identification I had left, just so that they'd know that I was serious and I would eventually square up with them at my first opportunity. I left my expired passport with them and said, "Look, I'll be back!" I felt bad enough about this embarrassing situation. The whole experience left me focusing with all my might to not cry my beautiful Halloween makeup off. It's a wonder I was able to keep it together. I phoned that evening and reached a much more sympathetic manager and apologized for the situation and promised to be there the next day since I hadn't had time to get back there yet, gave them my phone number and as much information as I could about me so that they would feel comfortable. I don't think those are the actions of someone who isn't planning on paying their bill. Whomever I spoke to was great and said she'd pass the message along. The next day, I showed up and I paid the balance and again apologized to the manager, Carli. Would you believe that she had the gall to still be rude to me and treat me like crap as I settled up my bill? I mean, who does that?! She acted like she was shocked that I came back and gave me that same smug smirk again while I apologized but didn't even acknowledge what I was saying, or anything. It's as if she had no sympathy or empathy whatsoever. She even took phone calls from other customers and made me wait to settle my bill, as if she was trying to punish me even further. I friggin never! NEVER ever again will I go back to this store again if this Carli lady works there! It's Nordstrom's MAC counter for me from now on unless this lady gets a major attitude correction. I'm very easy going and it takes a lot to piss me off but people like this should absolutely not be working in retail! read more

Yes, they are on the pricey side ($16 for a lip gloss) but I've been purchasing MAC since I was in high school. Why I am a loyal customer since the mid 90s: 1. I love the color payoff of all their products, and the cute names for their colors. 2. The packaging of their special edition lines. I've purchased Barbie, Hello Kitty, Archie, Wonder Woman, and Maleficent inspired palettes and packaging. 3. Personalized service and makeovers with no purchase necessary. 4. Back to MAC program. Save 6 empty plastic MAC containers in exchange for any lipstick (except for anything in the Viva Glam Line) in any shade, but they cannot be returned or exchanged, so make sure you like your choice. Word to the wise: AVOID this place during the weekends, it's quite chaotic with all the makeovers, especially during prom season. read more

Sooo...I've never been a big fan of mac but I do love other makeup shops and I am a lipstick lover so I decided to go into mac and check out the lipstick. When I walked in I started looking at the lipstick and right away a girl came over to help me and asked me what kind of color I was looking for. I wasn't really sure, I just told her I wanted to try something different from my dark reds and purples that I usually wear. Anyways, long story short, she put about 15 different lipsticks on me before I finally decided on the colors I wanted. She was so sweet and helpful and didn't push me to buy anything other than what I wanted. I walked out buying two new lipsticks! Thanks to that one girl (I'm sorry I don't remember her name but she has a cute short haircut), I am no longer scared to come in here! read more

Giving 3 stars because the product is top of the line, but docked 2 because my experience in this particular store was so awful I will most likely not return. I usually buy online, but because I was getting a Christmas gift, I really wanted to explore the products in person to search for something beyond my personal go-tos. I seem to have had the opposite issue from some of the other posters. My problem was that an associate was not leaving me alone! This brunette lady asked if she could help, which was cool. I said I was just going to browse the lipsticks, thanks. She asked what I was looking for? I said I wasn't sure yet, but I was just going to see what kind of lip products they had, thanks. I understand she was doing her job, but after that she was hovering and staring at me shopping. After seriously 1 minute, she said "how's everything going?" Since she was there, I asked what the price was on what looked like a 2-pack of lipsticks. She didn't even know! She didn't know the price of the liners either. She continued to hover and kept saying, what about this one? She literally was following me around the island counter interjecting and watching me even though I stated at least twice I wanted to shop, and also that I would make sure to find her if I found something I wanted to buy. I was so annoyed, I just grabbed 2 items that I had already seen online to purchase. I just wanted to get out of there. If the associate hadn't been breathing down my neck I probably would have bought a lip product for myself, more Christmas gifts, and stayed longer to explore the other counters. I get that some shoppers love the interaction and need a lot of advice when choosing a product, but the associates should be trained for the other type of customer who will buy more the longer they are in the store. read more

My favorite M.A.C. store by far! I've been to stores all over So Cal, Nor Cal, Vegas, and NY and none can compare to the service you receive at the Mission Viejo location. Whenever I come in, the make-up artists are all so warm and welcoming. They're always willing to take the time to answer my questions (and I have a lot) and find suggestions that really compliment my face. I have to give it up to 1 artist in particular, Rachelle. Whenever I have an event I need to get dolled up for, she makes me look and feel like a million dollars. She really knows how to hide my many blemishes and find the perfect colors and paint on the perfect style for the look I'm going for that night. Plus she is the most entertaining little thing so you don't notice the time. read more

I went to the MAC store because I had an appointment with Priscilla for a trail run for my wedding that was taking place two weeks later. Priscilla was recommended to me by my hair stylist, who knew Priscilla personally. All I can say is that Priscilla is not only an EXCEPTIONALLY TALENTED ARTISTIC make-up artist but she's also freakin cool and fun to talk with! Upon meeting her at the MAC store we were laughing and cracking jokes within minutes and I felt like I'd known her forever. I purchased some MAC mascara, fake lashes, lip liner, lipstick and gloss and use it daily. Their products are amazing and would recommend them to everyone. Now on to how great Priscilla is. For my wedding, she along with my hair stylist came to the hotel room my bridesmaids and I were staying at and set up shop, where the day consisted of her having a make-up station and my hair stylist having a hair station in the room and each girl (including my mom and sister-in-law) taking turns to get their hair and make-up done. Initially, it was just going to be me and one of my bridesmaids getting their make-up done but after seeing pics of how great Prsicilla did my face during the trial run, my mom and sister-in-law AND additional bridesmaid asked if she could do theirs because they were so impressed. Both my mom and one of my bridesmaids do their own make-up daily and quite well I may add and even they were so ecstatic with Priscilla's work. To sum it all up, you want a perfect face and wonderful experience? Ask for Priscilla! read more

Are these salespeople aware they are they to serve ALL customers in the store? This is the second time I have walked in the MAC store and no acknowledgement whatsoever. The cashier is talking on and on and on with a customer while I stand waiting to be assisted. Again, no acknowledgement, no "we'll be right with you" just keeps droning on, repeating herself to the customer about the most obvious tips - wash your face first, then moisturize. Wow, had no idea that was the proper order - feel so much wiser now! I suppose I shouldn't expect any amt of critical thinking from these salespeople - you know, be polite to each customer while efficiently facilitating closure of the transaction. This was you can satisfy many instead of only one, while ignoring all others. This store needs leadership or better yet - just go to Nordstrom!! Always a positive experience! read more

So I glanced through some of the reviews and it looks like Nordstrom's MAC had more positive experiences than the MAC store in the mall. They don't have a separate YELP so my review is for the MAC inside NORDSTROM. I've been coming here for the past 5 years and have had several different artist. If you want creative, ask for Chris. He recently did a Marie Antoinette inspired makeup for my post-apocalyptic photo shoot and it turned out incredible (see pictures). He is not afraid to use his imagination and try something new! I've had Ashlee do my make up for Nocturnal Wonderland and she did a real fun butterfly look (see picture). If you have something difficult you want to ask for Valerie. She created a Raven look for my Wasteland Ball which was challenging but she pulled it off (see picture)! Lastly if you need glamour ask for Tabitha, she did an amazing job on my eyes, hid my flaws and added some subtle contouring (see picture). Overall I've been extremely impressed with the range of talent employed at MAC in Nordstrom's Mission Viejo. If you are lucky enough to get any of these artists to do your makeup you won't be disappointed! read more

This is my favorite MAC store to go to in so-cal, and that's saying a lot. They don't have all of the PRO products that the store in South Coast has, but that's the only reason I would go there instead of this one in Mission Viejo. Why is this one so great? The staff. The biggest complaint I ever hear about MAC is that the people at the counter/in the store are snobby and rude. NOT the case here. These guys are fantastic. Everyone is SUPER helpful and sweet. Today I witnessed the most disparaging and embarrassing behavior by a grown, older adult woman in this store. It actually frightened my children to the point I wanted to call security. A very polite and helpful MAC artist was asked by a grey haired older woman to assist her with makeup colors. I overheard her asking about COVID restrictions and the young girl adjusted her mask and was proceeding to explain the restrictions when this older woman lost it. She started yelling and insulting the poor girl calling her "dirty" and using derogatory words in a very hostile, clearly super agitated manner and scaring the customers. To the credit of the two young girls working there, they did not lose their composure and were able to diffuse the situation quickly. This woman continued screaming in a crazed manner to the point of frightening children and customers who were present. Absolutely uncalled for. Question for this woman -- what were you doing shopping in a mall packed with shoppers and insulting innocent strangers trying to assist you? This woman is clearly disturbed and a menace and should be banned from the mall and definitely the store. I dialed security myself but did not get an answer. I later saw this older woman walking through the mall with a clearly crazed look on her face. I have ALWAYS had a great experience at this MAC location and I was compelled to leave this review because keyboard warriors are quick to point out what they think is a flaw but never anything nice about anyone. And a bit of advice to this older woman afraid of COVID -- stay home, mask up and stop verbally abusing and racially insulting hard working, polite and positive young MAC employees. I brought in 6 empty containers to get either a free eye shadow and was told that I could only chose a matte color and that I couldn't chose a glittery one. If I could give a zero rating I would. Came in during Covid wanting to understand the safety protocols so I could comfortably shop, to match colors of my newly gray hair. In the middle of the very brief conversation, the young girl repeatedly touched the front of her mask, which is a known transmission risk. I mentioned it, saying please adjust your mask by the earpieces and sanitize your hands before working with me. Instead this young girl turns her back, and walks away leaving me standing there, and says she doesn't want to serve me because I "will blame her if I get Covid". I asked to speak to the manager, again, being polite and inquisitive, and was again treated dismissively, instead of acknowledgement of my point or any accommodation to assure me of their protocol regarding my concern. I finally said the clerk's response was inappropriate and crazy and then I was told to leave the store because I was name calling an employee. Do these companies really want to regain business lost because of Covid? I think not- but of course these two girls were not owners, were not interested in being better educated about safety protocols and clearly couldn't care less about losing a long time customer. I wondered how much of it was simple disrespect for a gray-haired customer, but that's just speculation. Needless to say I won't come back, and if I have time, will call a hopefully more rational and mature person who might work at a higher level to let them know of this conduct at the store level, that was so unnecessarily unpleasant, and had turned me off to a brand I have long supported. read more

When I threw my item on the counter to walk away, only THEN did someone pay attention to me. I've been a MAC customer for a long time, and get my Halloween makeup done by MAC every year. I am always intimidated by the beautiful workers at these stores. But today I mustered up the courage to walk in because I needed desperate help to have my foundation match my neck (countless hours wandering drug stores does you no good- trust me). I walked into the store and was instantly greeted and asked why I was visiting. It took only 30 seconds for the beautician to wipe my foundation off and find the right match. I have super oily skin, and she took that into consideration. Also, she gave me tips on how to apply, mix, and use other concealers to give me a more natural look. Ladies/Men, SAMPLES. If you have a question about a product and want to try it at home instead of sitting in the store, ask for samples. The beautician gave me samples to take home, and I was THRILLED. So glad this shop is near my work. Definitely will be visiting again on my lunch breaks :) read more

So in line today for the free lipstick - I 100% understand it is a first come first serve situation. The line easily had 200 people in front of me -it is a shot in the dark if we will get one. 2.5+ in line and they are now coming out telling people they are nearly out of product. MAC should have given out tickets ahead of time to people already in line so there was an exact knowledge of who would be getting one. MAC should have a representative out here in line talking to people about their products. MAC should consider not allowing males (who clearly are not makeup fans) to get a tube for their spouse - who is also here getting one - meaning they get two. MAC should not allow people to stand in there and try on each lipstick color to decide - hand someone a mystery tube and move this along. Your employees could be nicer about this. We understand this is a lot of people to service but you clearly should have managed this event better. MAC shouldn't be allowing people to hold the line for someone wandering the mall. Free event I get it. Management should be more diligent in keeping the MAC image cleaner than this. Customer service is everything- this store hasn't really been known for that. MAC should consider giving a coupon to everyone currently in line clearly not getting a free lipstick - what's the incentive for me to return? There are other stores that sell equal if not comparable products. read more

I've been a loyal customer shopping at a M.A. C. Store ever since my kids were in strollers. Kids have since grew up and off to college and now are using M.A.C. products themselves. All I wanted to do is exchange a defective lipgloss, cap that wouldn't close. Who keeps receipts for cosmetics? I'm NOT exchanging for a different item. I'm simply exchanging the defective lipgloss for the exact item. The makeup artists informed me that I needed the receipt, to which I responded that I don't have it. If it weren't broken I wouldn't have to return/exchange it. I explained to her that the cap is broken and since the cap will not close, it will dry up and be messy to carry around in my purse. She calls the manager over and she said I have to go through customer service to have them send me the replacement. She answered without hesitation, oh it won't dry up, just a bit messy. I have spent so much at this company and this is the way they treat their customers? The next day I happened to be in Huntington Beach and happened to be a M.A.C store. I decided to give it a try and explained the situation. The makeup artist talks to the manager and they were able to exchange my defective lipgloss for the same item without hesitation. Good job Huntington Beach MAC cosmetics. A big thank you Huntington Beach M.A.C. Store. I appreciate your help and understanding unlike Mission Viejo store who just handed me a customer service phone number and shooed me away. This is not the 1st time I have had issues with M.A.C.
