I'm not a make-up girl and never wear scent; in fact, I can barely stand to walk by this place, precisely because it reeks/stinks of perfume and the like. But I went in once, mistakenly thinking they sold MAC lipstick, which they do not. That said, I figured that once I was there, maybe they could help me with concealer--and boy did they ever! I ended up buying a Lorac stick concealer, which they did a fantastic job of helping me match my skin tone exactly, which is something I could never have done myself--I don't have the knowledge or patience. It's confusing to walk in and have dozens and dozens of concealers and the like, but they did a terrific job of steering me toward something that works well, and also of getting me out of there! read more

Been here a few times to shop for makeup I needed a new concealer and a cover up. Asked for some help and the lady said she would be right with me. So I continued to look around 10 minutes past and still didn't get any help I believe her name was Lauren. After the 10 minutes had past i look around and she's gone I asked one of her employers where she went and she said she went on her lunch break. Ok. I asked for some help with a different employer. Most of the time I've gone here, it's been okay, but this recent visit just showed unprofessionalism. I asked one of the associates what she had on her face and she mentioned it was color correcting cream to display the store promo. Next thing, she walks pasts me and gossips to another associate about my question? I turned around to them and they just smile at me...kind of a dumb move when your customer is right there. If I could give ZERO stars I would. When I first found this sephora I was so excited because it's a lot easier to commute to this one (not to mention parking!) than to the one in downtown SF. However, that was EXTREMELY short-lived. 1) The sales reps there? Are they really trying to make a sale if they're rolling their eyes at me? Or if they're ignoring me? 2) The esthetician there acts like she's the queen of the world. I told her that a certain product makes my skin oily and she SHOOK HER HEAD AT ME slowly and said "no...no...no, you got it wrong" EXCUSE ME? I think I know whether or not this makes my skin oily since I'm experiencing it! And the vibe she gives me whenever she sees me is like she doesn't want to talk to me but she has to because it's her job to be courteous. All I have to say is -- I'm not an idiot, I can tell what attitude they have towards the customers. I hate this sephora so much that I no longer come here unless it's an emergency. my first experience at this location left much to be desired! Never have I felt more invisible than when I came here. I was interested in a tinted moisturizer. As I walked in there were two techs, salesperson or whatever they are called gabbing to one another. I came into Sephora looking for some help to cover up a nasty black eye that I got from a mugging :( It was the night of my birthday party and I was feeling pretty self conscious about my face as it was all black and blue. The girls at the store came to my rescue and magically transformed my horrible black eye back to normal. The make-up application was flawless(you could hardly see the bruising)! This Sephora is very small. I've been here a couple times and it's always just sorta dirty. It's cramped and every where you turn someone is using a tester in the most unhygienic way possible. Every time I visit this store I pretty much turn around a leave within a minute. It's not a nice place to browse. read more

what's not to love about sephora? ok for guys, technically...everything. it reeks of 2 billion types of perfume, there are girls there with 500 layers of makeup on, you're shopping, you're shopping, did i mention shopping? when will girls learn: we only go shopping for the sex. we know one leads to the other. that's right, we're stupid, we're easy, and since we're being honest with one another, we're actually too lazy to care if you know we're stupid and easy so we don't even bother to pretend we like sephora. now...all that aside... ok so there are some hot girls at sephora. but they're planted to make you want to buy stuff to look like them. and for some of them, they apparently want you to buy one of EVERYTHING in the store cuz that's what's on their face. that's right- i figured it out: the sephora managers pay girls by the layer of makeup. secret's out. they apparently do that so that when asked "do you know anything about [this clairol blush], [this maybelline eye makeup]...?" they can honestly answer "i'm wearing it right now". just don't expect them to tell you which layer it is cuz that gets mad confusin' now that's not to say that women at sephora aren't blindingly attractive without all that makeup - they are or they get fired. it's just masked (lit. and fig.) by the makeup. +4 stars becuz they make girls feel beautiful -1 star because the only place i can breathe in there is the coffee grinds cup (my salvation) read more

Not helpful. Had to wait awhile to get some help meanwhile the manager is just walking around doing nothing. I asked her for help and all she said was it will just be a minute. When I finally got someone to help me, they made it seem like I was a bother since I was asking for a color match. Yes it was a tough color match and had to match but as a customer I was frustrated enough that we couldn't find one to match. Last thing I needed was a sales person making me feel like a burden and a pain for asking for help. I will not go to this sephora anymore. Poorly managed stuffs and their treatments on each customer differently base on who you are and how your dress.. Be aware of that in your mind if you want to buy make up or try out something. They will ignore you and never even want to say hi or being serious about your question if they think you are not potential buyer. This location needs serious management make over. read more

I went in earlier today. I was not greeted by any of the people working their. But instead was given a stank eye and was being followed by members without even saying a hi. When it came time for needing help, I had to look for a member when there were others around that saw me looking but moved along. Anyways, I tried to get help on picking something different in my lipstick color and all she did was do the same thing I did (pick and put on hand). She never offered to put it on me or offer any other assistance. Definitely not coming back to this location. I was not impressed with this location. The staff made me feel like a red-headed step child as I was passed from one staff member to another. I think I met the entire staff by the end of my 20 minute visit. I was recommend from the staff to try Bare Essentials which for me was a skin complexion nightmare. I have to say I love the store Sephora. But the Burl Ave location is lacking service. When I walk in and want to ask about a product, no one is ever available. Sometimes the employees are busy and sometimes not. But no one ever says "Can I help you?" Yesterday when I walked in the store , 2 employees saw me walk in and blatantly ignored me. They were discussing how they are eliminating sugar from their diets. I was starring at them, waiting for them to finish their conversation and help me. I had always Love visiting Sephora. Today I just had my worst experience. I was trying to return some gifts I got over the holiday (Obviously I dont' have the receipt) I had NEVER had a problem with returning without a receipt at Sephora. Plus all the items I'm returning are Brand New in Boxes... A short hair associate with glasses jumped in while another associate was helping me, to question if mine was a return and I would need a receipt. After I explain it was a gift, she insist "You better find your receipt or get a receipt" What kind of attitude is that? I'm not returning boxless, opened, broken items. I love Sephora and since my bf lives in downtown Burlingame, it's a convenient 10 minute-walk. They have the basics here -- from Stila to Nars to Lorac in make-up and from Perricone to Cosmedicine in skin care. The Sephora brand is of course also available. Limited men's selection and also make-up tools, which is expected for a smaller Sephora. One thing that I don't like about this place is the staff. They're not the usual happy, perky, glad-to-be-of-help salesgirls at other Sephoras. Rather, they seem easily annoyed and they look almost disdainfully on you if you try something out. With the limited selection of brands, don't come here if you're looking into comparing dozens of mascaras before you get that perfect black one. However, if you know exactly what you want, and are not easily intimidated by the unfriendliness of the staff, then this store would be more than adequate for your make-up needs. EDIT: They seem to have had a change in staff recently since I went yesterday and they were really nice and friendly. I must've been greeted by 5 employees the moment I walked in. read more

out of sephora in JCP tanforan, burlingame, and palo alto, this location is by far the best in service. i swear ive never come in here (and i work in burlingame, so where does my paycheck go normally on my lunch breaks?) and not had at least 3 people ask me how i'm doing or if i need any help, and i need a lot of help! they also give generous samples :) went into the stanford mall last week, NO ONE SPOKE TO ME ONCE. i had to wait next to an employee for about 90 seconds before she stopped what she was doing (stocking shelveS) and acknowledged me. she then provided me help & advice, but the fact that no one even said hi, was just weird compared to my experiences with burlingame the staff here is always on point, fast, friendly, even the dudes. they can also sense whether or not you dont wanna be bothered - as sometimes i come in with ear buds in, which i think is kind of cool cus sometimes when i go to a store with ear buds in the staff will continue to talk to me and ill have to pause my phone and be like sorry what? anyhoo every time i get one of those surveys from the register, i always always fill them out and i always name the people who help me great job bgame sephora i love u read more

I wanted to get a really nice gift for my girlfriend on veterans day,but i then realized veterans day passed 3 moths prior and i didnt have a girlfirend. so i went inside sephora hoping to find one. I wish I could give zero stars. On November 28 of 2017, I visited this store because I had just quite smoking and my skin looked so BEAUTIFUL. I needed new products that worked with my new BEAUTIFUL smoke free skin. I allowed the people at this store to touch my face. Since that day I developed a bacterial infection of the soft tissue of my face. I was on a topical medicine at first that made it worse, another antibiotic that that I had a horrible allergic reaction to and finally another antibiotic that I could tolerate. I was on a 6 week course of antibiotics. I had 3 Dr visits. I alerted the manager of this store and I was repeatedly blown off. No one has offered any compensation for any of my Drs appointments, any of my time wasted, nothing for the side effects I had to deal with for 6 weeks of antibiotics. They didn't even offer a gift card. I have never been so disappointed in customer service in my life. Avoid this store. read more

Which is highly frustrating as its so hard to find parking in this neighborhood! I've asked for advice, and every single salesgirl there said the same thing.
