Last 5 digits of my receipt #: 16856
I am not one that writes Yelp reviews on retail chains. However, this one is my first and hopefully, my last. I worked retail throughout high school and college. I understand how frustrating it can be when working the fitting rooms and having people throw clothes around as if workers are maids to clean up after them. I understand that working retail, especially during the holidays, can be draining and of course, we all have our bad days. With that being said, I try my hardest to treat those that work retail with respect. I try to put back my clothes neatly after trying things on. I try not to throw things around or mess up store displays knowing that someone worked very hard on it. Lastly, I try my hardest to be patient and kind to the workers knowing that people can have bad days.
I went here briefly during my lunch break in between client meetings. I decided to stop in and pick up a last minute white elephant present that I needed by Friday. I specifically chose this store because I had a $20 rewards card that I received in the mail. I grabbed something that cost $28 and went to the register. A girl with long blonde hair (I forgot her name but I attached my receipt number) rang me up, took my gift card, scanned it, and then tore it into tiny pieces and dumped it. I slide my credit card and as the receipt came out, I noticed the total. The total came out to $20 something dollars. I told her that I should have gotten $20 off and she RUDELY said that I was wrong and the card i handed her stated that I only get 10% off. I asked her if I can have the card back (or a replacement card since it was obviously tore) because I wanted to see it again. I could have sworn it said $20 off. She said that it was too late and that I was wrong and the card was gone and there was nothing that I can do about that. Her tone and her demeanor was extremely condescending. She repeated herself again, this time slower, "You do not get $20 off, you get 10% off!" Due to the time crunch because I had a meeting to attend to, I left without even bothering to ask for the manager for some type of help.
I just checked my email right now (Sephora sent me an electronic version of the same exact gift card). Turns out, it was $20 off but the disclaimer was if I spent $50 or more. Granted, I was in a hurry and I didn't have time to observe the disclaimer, she should have at-least told me. With that, I didn't appreciate the fact that she talked to me like I was an idiot. Most cashiers would encourage people to spend additional money in order to receive the $20 off.
Oh yes, I am obviously annoyed. I've already did my survey that was attached to the receipt. Hopefully someone can train that specific person on how to talk to customers. Better yet, maybe she's better off working the stockroom.
