I love makeup! I love skin products. Sephora is my spot for it all. Its hard not to lose track of time in that store...I could spend hours without getting bored. Staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable, which is wonderful. One girl recommended a liquid foundation called Korres and ladies I swear I live by it. As a person of color, the market is very cruel to the products they try to provide for our skin. I am dark skinned, but there are different shades of dark and different undertones. One foundation called "DARK" is not going to apply to all dark skinned black girls. Because I have yellow undertones, which she pointed out immediately, she was able to lead me to this product right away. It has a high potency of vitamin C that helps correct my uneven skin tone and leaves my skin soft after washing it off. Overall, I am impressed and ironically convinced myself to change my four star rating to a five star because honestly they deserve it! read more

Right now, this Sephora is in a temporary space in the Prudential Center, so I won't talk about the physical location. Service at this Sephora is inconsistent. I've gone to this Sephora a couple times in the past two weeks because I'm going on a trip soon and want to get new products for the trip. The other afternoon, I went in to buy some new foundation and I needed to find a good match for my skin. I was one of about five customers in the store and none of the employees asked me if I needed help. I felt weird approaching the employees because they were standing together in groups talking. I saw one other employee helping another lady, so I wasn't about to interrupt her time with that customer. I stayed in the store for fifteen minutes, looking at some foundations and standing near the employees, looking at them to see if any were free. Yes, I could have gone over and asked them for help, but truthfully I didn't want to go over and interrupt their conversation because I had been standing next to them trying to make eye contact and it felt awkward. I ended up leaving the store and walking over to Saks and got some foundation from the very helpful woman at the Giorgio Armani makeup stall. But this lack of attention isn't necessarily characteristic of the store. I went to this same Sephora again a few days later to look at lipsticks. This time, the store was packed with customers, but an employee immediately greeted me and asked if I needed help. Another employee asked to help as I was looking at This time, I didn't need help since it was only lipstick, but I preferred being asked to being ignored. Other issues with this store is that products are often sold out and testers are sometimes missing, but that probably is because this is a popular location. My biggest issue with Sephora in general is that they carry a boring selection of perfumes, lacking in both classic and niche fragrances, but that's probably because the store is meant to appeal to young women who tend to prefer popular clean or sweet scents to more exciting options. Long story short, I would go to this Sephora if I already knew which product I needed or if I wanted to test products that I knew the store carried. However, if I wanted a more personal consultation or I wanted to get something from a high end line, even one carried at Sephora, I would go to the Saks makeup counter instead, both for their personal touch and for great samples. read more

This is a great store! I love the atmosphere here and how people care about you. The customer service is terrific and everyone is so friendly and helpful. Not to mention they have free makeup class on weekend morning. read more

I'm more of a organic, natural person, but I really like Sephora because its really fun to just be there. The people are nice but don't really like 13 year olds. Go and have a ball !!!!! read more

Their staff are not required to have a cosmo liscense and their "color artists" generally lack knowledge/experience. They use the same brushes on multiple people without cleaning them (I have seen it) and the place is outrageously unsanitary. There is no way to monitor how people use the testers and customers will put eyeliner directly on their eyelid and lipstick right on their lips only for another customer to pick up and use immediately after. All of their makeup that is tester or whatever is left out uncovered to collect dust and animal hair (yes, animals do go in and theyre usually right at the height of your precious cosmetics). Their products are great, but buy them online. That place is an over-perfumed germ sesspool with rude, inexperienced employees (which is no wonder, I've heard they're awful to their staff). If you want a makeover or consultation with someone who knows what they're talking about- go to Mac. read more

I usually LOVE Sephora and it is absolutely my go-to when I want to splurge on something for myself. However, I had such a disappointing experience yesterday at this location that I have to share. Dear Sephora, you are OVERSTAFFED!!!! You do not need 20 sales people on the floor on a Sunday afternoon. I went in to grab a quick gift for a friend and was accosted 8 times(!!!!) in less than 5 minutes by sales associates. I couldn't even turn down an aisle without one of them asking me if I needed help. It was so bad that I couldn't even stop and browse where I wanted to because there were too many sales people hovering over me. I am all for excellent customer service but this was the exact opposite of that, it was desperate and smothering. If I wasn't there for a friend I would have just walked out. read more

I signed up for Yelp just to write about the positive experience I had at this Sephora yesterday. I've been shopping here on and off for years and have always had good experiences, but I bought a Clarisonic brush that had some issues. I was putting off bringing it in because I assumed it would be a hassle, but I called the store, and spoke with two different people who were very helpful and pleasant. I took the brush in the same day and it was a quick, hassle-free process. I don't think I'll ever buy an expensive tool like that from any other store. read more

Stopped by this Sephora for the first time today. I wanted to purchase a particular lipstick brand and shade, but sadly it ran out. A guy who works a the store offered to help me find the same shade but a different brand lipstick. He was able to match the shade that I was looking for and introduced to a new organic brand lipstick that I never heard before. He also gave me a few tips. I had been to the Sephora in NY and I believe that the staff at this Sephora is much nicer and helpful. read more

Plenty of selection, stations for trying product and cleaning up. They have some really helpful staff who'll gladly help you pick out products, and even help apply them. They have a machine that'll analyze your skin tone for matching colors. They have well-stocked cosmetics as well as bath/body sections. My only real complaints are that /some/ of their staff have little to no interest in listening to the customers' intentions (and are sometimes outright rude, particularly when they're trying to get past people in the tight quarters of this store) and that their security makes me feel pretty unwelcome. read more

The service is ok. They aren't like in other Sephora stores, where the minute you come in they great you and ask if you need help. They just walk by and smile. If you need something you have to ask or interrupt their chatting groups. Many people like it cuz they find it annoying but I feel weird approaching them. It's probably because I'm shy so I like when they do "the first step" and are chatty and recommend you things. But if you decide to you ask they are nice and helpful. read more

The product selections are very nice. Customer service varies based on how lucky I am. One thing be careful is the lighting in store, which might impact your decision when you buy makeup. I would suggestion go during day time, try the makeup, and go into day light to test. read more

This is the most racist sephora I've ever visited. I came in today with a list of items worth over 200 dollars. I needed help finding a setting power that matched my complexion. The girl who was helping me left me to assist a Caucasian woman. The next girl I asked, who by the was not doing anything at all points me to the Laura mercier section. Which is fine had I asked her to find a brand and not helping matching my color. It's sad that in this day & age no matter how well I'm dressed or well spoken I am. I get treated like I'm less than a human being, not to mention the amount of stuff that were in my cart. I'm sorry but if my skin color bothers you that much that you can't do your job than maybe you shouldn't have a job. Especially not one that requires you to work with all races. I'm still in utter disbelief that two different employees walked away from to help two different white women. Thank you for the experience Sephora. Never agin. read more

Was just here yesterday around 3pm. Stopped in to check out the new Fenty Beauty line and test some foundations from other lines however was a disappointing experience as usual for this store. As others have noted, over crowded, lots of missing testers (the ones I needed were missing, of course), applicator stations are difficult to find, sparse and overflowing with used applicators spilling onto floor from trash (I feel like Sephora used to have a lot more of these stations when they first opened?) and an abundance of employees standing around aka poor customer service. There were what appeared to be well over 15 employees on the floor and while some were definitely hustlin' with customers, the majority of them were standing in clusters of 2-3 chatting with each other. Perplexing since testers could be replenished, testing stations could be cleaned up, or customers like me who need help (it was clear I was wandering around aimlessly) could be approached. If you know exactly what you need and don't need any help, come here anytime. But if you need some help or don't like crowds, go when they first open or towards closing. read more

Sephora is the place for makeup in Boston. They carry everything, many of which you won't be able to find anywhere else. They also carry all major make-up and frangrance lines, such as Chanel, Christian Dior, etc. I recommend the Philosophy line of bath and body products and the Stila line for make-up. It is also one of the only places in Boston to find the Dessert line from Jessica Simpson. Umm, yummy. If you really want to experience Sephora, check out the store in Times Square in NYC. read more

The Copley Plaza Sephora has been renovated and is a "concept" store. The only concept they seem to have gotten correct is the dismissive, unfriendly, entitled young people who work there. I have done my last shop ever at Sephora. I walked into the store dressed well, I had to flag down and interrupt several staff members personal conversation to ask where a product was. I was told by a very annoyed, dismissive young lady who didn't even look up that they had never carried the product (not true I had discovered the product at their store and feel in love with it.) I described the color of the package I was looking for and was told just take one of the products on the shelf above where I was looking. Its the same color package your looking for is what I was told. hum.....I then went right to the register with only a 1/3 of the products I was looking for and only bought those because of a time constraint. While waiting for an open register, I noticed the high ratio of staff to customer (the store was moderately busy) the majority of staff where standing around together talking, the gentleman in charge of the floor was flitting around more interested in making sure that staff members where taking there breaks than breaking up the social time. Then he had a pretty lengthy conversation talking to the young man who was training new employee's that day about the discrepancy in the number on his list versus the number of people that had shown up for work. At no point did the gentleman look up or notice anything amiss. The cashier when I answered her question did you find everything you needed? I responded no quite the opposite. Her deer in head lights look at this point was priceless. What do you mean? At least she asked.......I know its hard to find great people who want to work but if you have horrible customer service you won't have anymore customers and you won't have a job. Simple business concept. I have found the products I need on line as there are soo many options that we have as consumers. I chose to not be dismissed, I have choices, wake up already we aren't even at the prime holiday season. Brick and mortar merchants have been complaining about the online shopping but when you continue to promote bad behavior why would I want to pay for parking in your center, then be ignored in your store and then lose a few minutes writing a bad review? I am shopping on line with free shipping this season. read more

What do u do when a boy broke ur heart? I shop....so i enter Sephora hoping to get some products even though i have enough products @ home that will last me for over 1+ yr....usually when i go they're helpful always asking if i needed help....but this time when i went instead of them asking me i ended up asking them for help....i was looking for foundation that will match my skin tone the sale associates seem rush....i told her the brand i wanted and asked her to find the shade for me...she quickly look @ my face & picked out a shade....then, she quickly put on my neck to show me & asked me how it was....ok good i can't see where she put it....then i was hand it the shade that she put on for me...i felt like she was rushing the whole time....the store itself wasn't even busy @ the time...i was expecting more time with her so she can explain me more about the product....she never once asked me my skin type etc....i wanted them to put on my face to see how everything come out @ the end....was i supposed to asked them? i never had to ask @ Macy...c'mon i expected more from Sephora.....there i was standing alone...she did find the right shade the whole thing felt like she was rushing...finally i asked another associate since i can't seem to figure out which 2 products i should buy...the 2nd sale associate was slightly better...she told me the foundation 1st sale associate picked out for me was for oily skin...if i don't have oily skin probably shouldn't use it...much better!(1 extra star for that reason) the product itself is ok....for the price i'm paying for products i was expecting much better customer service..... read more

I had a negative experience here today because of a particular SA--a tall, thin man with glasses working the register. I was there to exchange an item and ended up charging about $4 on my credit card. He asked to see my credit card and claimed that my electronic signature didn't match the one on my card. I observed that sometimes it's hard to get a good signature with the plastic stylus and he replied "SOMEtimes." In an extremely patronizing tone, he then said he would allow the charge "THIS time," but that I should know "Sephora is very strict about fraud and we work hard to hunt you down." Trying to psychologically intimidate me was totally unnecessary and extremely unprofessional, and it doesn't help to stop actual fraud. I would have been happy to take practical steps like showing additional forms of ID or to write my signature multiple times, but this interaction was just offensive. He could also have considered the likelihood of someone fraudulently trying to exchange something and then trying to make $4 dollars. read more
