Bibimbap with banchan
Huong L.

I came here on a whim because I was in the area and I wanted bibimbap. Service was fast and they were really nice. I didn't realize that we get banchan to come along with it which is a bonus! Bibimbap was pretty average, I wish they add a little more meat but otherwise it was good. The place seems like a good lunch spot and there was a steady flow of people when I was there. Not too loud. Overall, I would come back when I'm in the area

I have no idea of what I ordered when I came here but there are no complaints. I am told that a Mother-Son combination runs this restaurant and that they have been doing this for years. I had a Peach Soju, kimichi stew, and some type of Hot Pot combination. The food was good. The Peach Soju was better. It is only 12% and tastes like soda.

We were looking for a place to eat after leaving an appointment in Bellevue, and we found this wonderful little place. The food was truly delicious. We ordered short ribs, which were served on a hot plate and accompanied by complimentary small plates. The service was also excellent. Quiet and nice ambiance. I will continue to come back every time I'm in Bellevue.

Really good, authentic sit-down Korean food in Bellevue for good value. There are a ton of different Chinese/Taiwanese/Indian restaurants in this area, but not so much Korean, so finding a good one is important. Seoul Hot Pot is my daughter/SIL's favorite Korean restaurant in the area and it happens to be close to their apartment (close enough to walk, but took car since it was a frosty cold night). Three of us came here for dinner on a Friday. We didn't need a reservation, and were seated right away, provided menus right away. There are some tables with built in grills (for traditional KBBQ), but don't think they are used anymore (no ventilation that I could see). Warm barley tea was served along with water. It was my last night in Bellevue, so wanted comforting soup that we could all share. Seoul Hot Pot serves a large selection of traditional dishes, not specializing in just hot pot, in spite of the name. I got a bottle of Korean rice wine (makgeolli for $10), which came in the traditional tea kettle and drunk from metal rice bowls. Gave a little toast, thanking my hosts for their hospitality. Our two soup dishes came, and we felt both were well done, with good portions. Sul Long Tang (Beef bone soup $17.99) - a traditional collagen infused beef soup, it was a winter special with limited quantity. This version is served with sliced brisket, and had that milky, cloudy color of bone broth. Ham and sausage Hot Pot ($38.99 + $3 for American Cheese slices) -meant for two, the precooked ingredients are brought to the table with a burner, and you are allowed to keep it cooking/warming as you eat it. I know this dish as Army Stew (Budae Jjigae), where a variety of ingredients easily available from American army bases, were used to make a shareable stew. The stew base is similar to kimchi jjigae, and you put a lot of pork products topped off with one packet of cheap ramen instant noodle. It is the dish with the most processed food dish that you can make, but it's comforting and was fun to share it with my daughter. (It's lost its appeal with the newer generation, but it's popularity will come back someday). They use good quality sausage, and it was good enough to bring back when we couldn't finish. The trick is to try to finish the dish before the ramen noodles becomes too gummy...didn't quite make it, but it was fun trying...plus it is nice heating stew that is as temperature hot (or hotter) in the last bite than the first. The dishes came with one bowl of purple rice each, and five refillable banchans, all of which were good. I especially liked the little sausage egg appetizers (buchim), which is usually too costly to have as banchan, but here it was offered (and was generous enough to give another serving when asked). Service interaction was good throughout, and my SIL gave a generous tip (good way to split the cost between us). Payment via credit card was standard, and we were on our way into the cold, Seattle night. But the warm stew definitely helped the bite. Was heading to Dallas the next day, where it would be a lot warmer (or so I thought).

Menu for meal plan

We got the weekly meal set from the restaurant and it was worth it. Last week's meal set had Sulungtang, tofu bacon kimchi, prawn dark miso stew, oyakodon, Hot yooboo burdock kimbap, Bulgari Chilli dog, Seok back jee, braised potatoes, and cranberry cream cheese Makguli bread. My husband loved the tofu dish eventhough he doesn't like tofu. He Saud tofu was especially flavorful with kimchi cooked just right. The prawn soup was great. I put some tofu and added water to eat it for 3 meals. Kimbap was tasty with a kick. The makguli bread reminded me of childhood memories. The mom and pop restaurant takes time to prepare each dish. Most of the shops in the strip mall are closed but this restaurant is open for business everyday except Wednesday.

Kim chi beef soft tofu stew and kalbi combo

This place deserves way more customers and a much better rating on Yelp. Great service but I admit I was the only customer. I ordered the kimchi tofu stew with beef and kalbi combo. First I'll start with the rice. Purple rice at no extra cost. Amaze balls! This combo at jang soo tofu down the road is almost $50 bucks so it's a cheaper option as well. They gave me an egg to crack in my stew which is traditional. The kalbi came out sizzling hot on a bed of onions which I love to pick at. The cook reminded me of my grandma and she was so kind and friendly when she brought my food. Fresh bonchin... loved the spinach bean sprouts and cucumber kimchi. The strip mall is dying but this place deserves to live on!

Best Korean pancake in town! So crispy and goey soft center. My must have every time!

Hidden gem tucked away in between Bellevue and redmond, this is my favorite Korean spot in the area. The music is always good vibes and the food is by far the best in the area in my opinion. Classic Korean dishes and so many varieties of soups not just tofu, my favorite is the dumpling soup. Seasoned perfection every time. Their PanChan is the best I think they also have one of the best kimchi's around. Had to rave about this place cause I don't think enough people know what a hidden gem this place is. They even have Korean fried chicken. So when I can't decide between this place has the best of all the worlds.

Easily 6 stars. This place deserves a visit from ALL if you enjoy Korean food. Probably our new favorite Korean spot in the Redmond ish area. Special attention to the waiter we had. Bo was his name. He was especially attentive to informing all of us what everything was, including sharing traditional information about Korean customs like don't pour your own Soju. Just really attentive and working seamlessly solo for the front of house. Very impressed. We want to come back for more. He deserves a raise.

I think this place is fine. I wasn't hugely impressed by it nor was I severely disappointed. I would say if you're craving Korean food, eating here would scratch that itch, but I don't know that I would recommend this to anyone. This does seemed to be a decently established restaurant in that the tables tend to be full, but a line never really formed at least while I was there. Bossam (3/5): This was very okay. I found myself wishing that the pork was fattier, cut differently, and more flavorful on its own. Maybe skip this for another protein. Kimchi Stew and Short Rib Combo (3.75/5): I actually thought the short rib was fairly decent and would have been a 4 on its own. Unfortunately, the kimchi stew was a big let down and was missing the savory undertones that I would expect from the broth and pork.

I really like their food, though the banchan could use some upgrading. I had the combination soft tofu soup, with an added egg. More satisfying and filling than you might expect, it has a well seasoned broth, some zucchini, beef, clams, and one shrimp. I ordered 4 stars (I do like it spicy but not mouth searing) and it was flavorful and the perfect amount of spice for me. My friend had the seafood bibimbap, and it looked great. I'll have to try next time.

Seafood Green Onion Pancake
Andy L.

Pretty good korean food to be honest. Pleasantly surprised since I had a somewhat lowered expectation from the current 3.5 stars. It's located at the overlake plaza, so plenty of parking. We got there around 6:30 and parked at a Seoul Hot Pot reserved spot right out front. There were maybe five or so other tables already seated, but plenty of empty tables so we got seated pretty quickly. When we left at around 7:30, there was a small line waiting to get seated. We ordered the Seafood Green Onion Pancake, Assorted Soft Tofu Soup, and Bi Bim Stone Hot Pot. Everything was very good. The complimentary side dishes came out with the tofu soup and stone hot pot and was delicious as well. Definitely was a bit longer wait for the food to come out, but manageable. Music was a bit loud though. Like many of the other reviews said, there is only one server. A lot of the lower starred reviews are given due to the service. While I understand where they are coming from, I honestly though the waiter was just trying to be efficient since he had to service fifteen or so tables all by himself, and he manages that very well. If he spents too much time on one table, fourteen other tables will have to wait much longer to get what they need. I don't think the waiter is rude, I thought he was trying to be as efficient as possible, and he did a good job at it. If anything, it's the fault of the restaurant owner for not hiring enough staff. Definitely wouldn't mind coming back again when I'm craving korean.

my go to spot for a comforting meal! all their food has a very home cooked taste to it, and their banchan always hits. got the cold noodles today because of the heat wave, but my go to is their pork and potato soup. service is great too!

Although we didn't order any dishes that made use of the advanced tabletop, I still think it's so cool! Despite the tables also having a digital kiosk, I appreciated how they still handed us actual menus and manually took our order, both of which are becoming less common these days. Our group started with some hot tea and ordered three dishes which was the perfect amount to share. We loved each item and I enjoyed tasting the various banchan side dishes (included with most main menu items): broccoli, traditional kimchi, omelet, potato, salad and kimchi cucumbers. I can be picky about kimchi, but this one had an ideal balance between tartness, spice, slight sweetness and umami. Their kimchi cucumbers were also a hit as they were refreshing with a tantalizing heat. + SEAFOOD PANCAKE ($25): My first time having a seafood pancake and it won't be my last! It was hot right off the pan with a crispy golden exterior. The seafood included baby shrimp, baby octopus and calamari. It seemed like the portion of seafood was reasonable since I had some in almost every bite, however I don't recall seeing much shrimp... mostly calamari and octopus. They added a lot of green onion, which I personally liked as it gave the pancake an element of freshness. This came with a side of soy dipping sauce, but I enjoyed it as is. The portion size was generous for the three of us. + KIMCHI BEEF TOFU SOUP ($22): This soup was basically a comforting hug in a stone pot. It arrived at our table, still bubbling, with a small bowl of rice. While there wasn't a ton of beef in the soup, the pieces were lean and tender and there was enough to split between the three of us. I loved the smooth silky tofu, and the kimchi gave the soup a little tang. Adding a scoop of rice into my personal bowl and pouring the soup on top made for perfect bites as the grains absorbed the broth. We requested a medium spice level which was just right for me. + HOT POT BI-BIM-BAP w/ CHICKEN ($25): You can't go wrong with this dish! Carrots, radish, zucchini, bean sprouts, spinach and a raw egg topped the bed of rice along with our protein choice of chicken. We stirred in the egg immediately and I enjoyed all the fresh vegetables in the bowl. The chicken was delicious as well and seemed to have a slightly sweet marinade. The best part is the little bites of rice that crisped up against the side of the bowl, adding some toasty notes and texture. We forgot to drizzle on some of the red chili sauce provided with the dish, so I'll need to do that next time! The three of us had a terrific dinner here and the service is so kind. We were checked on three times, which surpassed my expectations. We came for an early dinner on Sunday, so it was relatively quiet, even shortly after 6:00P. Even if the restaurant was full, the tables are spaced comfortably apart and I noticed they even had a separate section that is walled off for a larger group. Parking is also easy, running right alongside the neighboring walking trail. Needless to say, I'll be back!

Our family took advantage of the chicken's ability to maintain their crispiness, even for carry-out. It was OK, though a little confusing. Once we settled on KFC for dinner, our hosts (daughter and son-in-law) suggested carryout from 'The Third Place', which was a little out of the way from where we were. It is the Third restaurant opened by the owner, all Seattle area locations known for her KFC (Shin Sung Korean restaurant with Underground Kitchen and the since closed Yeon's Chicken). The chicken was ordered beforehand, and because it is prepared fresh when ordered, it took a bit of time for the order to be complete. There is a limited amount of sauce choices, so we chose Honey Garlic ($23.99) and the classic Yangnyum ($23.99), both marked as Whole Chicken size. Also a side order of french fries ($7.99) completed the order. The fries were good: nice and hot, heavily battered potatoes, providing a nice amount of carbs to go with the fried chicken. The chicken came with pickled radish (chicken-mu) which for me is a must, and it was good. In terms of the chicken, they were all wings, which isn't what I expected: getting the breast and thigh pieces chopped into bite-size pieces, battered and sauced, is what makes it KFC, vs all wings which is more like a Buffalo wing restaurant. So we still got the expected 14 pieces, but they were all wings (flats and drums). I thought the sauces were fine (intentionally ordered mild), and the chicken did maintain a crunch (though not as shattering as the best we've had).
