Ralph and Serena are great! They're very professional and do a wonderful job. They got rid of the rats in my attic and vacuumed the rat poop

The agent for this service struck ne as compassionate while also sensible. Excellent service.

Summary: if you're looking for someone to keep the rats and other pests out of your home and attic, look no farther. Sentient is your go to place! Initial Inspection: From the moment I met Ralph when he came to perform the initial inspection, I was impressed with Ralph and Sentient's professionalism and knowledge. During Ralph's initial inspection, he was very respectful of my home and left it as clean as he came, which is difficult to do when handling all sorts of dust and dirt in an attic. Afterwards, Ralph broke down the costs point by point and explained the need for each recommended upgrade. Installation: Ralph's installation team was also great. They were prompt, again, respectful of my home, and handled the job in a timely manner. Ralph and his team are also very humane in the way they handle pests. Conclusion: I was truly impressed by the way Sentient handled business. They are a really professional group of folks and I highly recommend at least getting a bid from them for your home pest exclusion needs. read more

Let me begin with that I am terrified of rats so it was overwhelming when heard rats in our attic and a pest control company confirmed that we had them. Although the pest control company was wonderful about trapping and disposing the rats, we knew we had to stop them from entering the attic. Sentient was the second company I called and I cannot say enough great things about our experience with this rodent exclusion company. From start to finish, Ralph and Serena provided exceptional customer service, making what was a stressful situation easy and manageable to handle. Ralph conducted a thorough inspection, and took photos to show us exactly where the rodents were getting in. He explained the process clearly and gave us confidence that they could resolve the issue. Unlike another company that quoted us almost four times the price, this team offered fair pricing without any upselling. Nick and Brad did the work and were also very professional and hard working. The follow-up service was just as impressive. They ensured that all entry points were sealed, and when I called with a worry, Ralph came out again to inspect. Two weeks later, the attic is completely silent with no more scratching, no more anxiety! Serena was also fantastic in checking in and making sure we were satisfied. If you're dealing with a rodent issue, don't waste your time and money like we did (all companies charge a $125 fee for the initial inspection). This company is professional, effective, and truly cares about their customers. Highly recommend! read more

Great company. They provided pest exclusion at my place in Davis. The squirrels in our attic were vacated and unharmed. They didn't return. Reasonably priced and friendly. Highly recommend! read more

Ralph and his crew are fantastic. I called them when I had bats nesting underneath my roof tiles. I highly recommend Sentient to anyone who is in need of their services. In my experience they are an honest and reliable company. read more

Sentient pest A large population of sparrows decided to take up residence underneath my spanish tile roof. Drives me crazy to hear them screeching all day as they live rent free up there crapping all over. I put a call into Sentient to set up a consultation and estimate which come at no charge. Ralph performed a thorough inspection and devised a plan of action tailored to my specific situation. Without going into great detail, I will tell you it was no easy task. Very intricate time consuming work to block off all the access points. Two solid days of work and 2 garbage bags full of sparrow nests, the job was complete. I know there are no guarantees when dealing with nature and I fully expect to need a follow up in the coming months to see if these pests found a way to take up residence again. But for now we're good. I like supporting local small businesses whenever I can. The owners are good people with a solid work ethic and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone in need of pest control--especially birds. read more

OMG! I can't even tell you how amazing these guys are! I have been in total freak out mode-our attic had been invaded! Again! We had something living in the attic a few years ago, determined it to be squirrels and they ultimately moved out on their own. Someone told me at that time that this happens and that I should probably figure out where they're coming in. But I kinda forgot about it. Then 2020 came. And of course I'm home all day. And we are hearing the sounds all over the house and it's getting louder. We needed a professional.. I read about Sentient Exclusion on Yelp after calling a traditional exterminator and being under impressed with what they wanted to do. Plain and simple, if you have rats, bats, squirrels, raccoons, birds... Hire a specialist. That's what these guys are. You don't want an exterminator that is going to simply poison them. They aren't insects. You need someone that understands animals and their habits. My call was answered by Serena. She was very helpful and professional, and scheduled me right away. Ralph came and did a very very thorough assessment of my house. He looked all around the foundation, the garage, the attic, the roof, the chimney, grounds, everywhere. He then gave me an assessment and plan. My husband first thought we could handle it ourselves and try putting a bunch of traps in the attic. It didn't matter what kind of trap or what kind of food, nothing was biting. One of the things Ralph told us was that if they have an easy entry and exit from your attic, they won't eat your food and wont get trapped. They will go out and come back in. He said that once they seal up the whole house, they will get hungry and they will go for the traps. Chris came a couple of days ago and did the work. He spent a long time and was very thorough. And once again he told me the same thing that Ralph said. They would start being interested in our traps when they couldn't get out. BINGO! Omg! Last night in the middle of the night... there arose such a clatter and it wasn't Saint Nicholas! It was our traps! The Beast went to his grave this morning along with his partner in crime. Hopefully, that's it. Probably not...We will keep checking the traps, but I am pretty confident that within a couple of days anything that was alive up there no longer will be. If your having a problem with something I live in your attic, walls or wherever... Don't waste time. Call these guys. I wish I had done it couple of years ago! You won't find a more professional company and they get the job done! read more

Ralph answered my frantic call after our HVAC installers found rat droppings in our attic. He came out within the hour and did an entire assessment of the exterior of our home and interior of the attic to determine where those little pests were coming in. He showed us photos of the areas and explained what he could do to solve the issue from happening again. He also told us to buy rat traps and set them out with a variety of bait options for a week to ensure that we trapped any remaining rats before he started to seal up the compromised areas. His pricing was fair, communication and timeliness was excellent. He did the exclusion in Spring 2020 and haven't had any issues since! read more

Ralph and team are reliable, honest and committed to resolution. I've used a few companies in an effort to resolve rodent problems. With recent new construction underway, I've had to call Sentient for reinspection. Ralph and team are amazing to work with. He's thorough beyond mention and really wants to help. Ralph arrived on time and prepared for the job. Because of his years of experience you'll get someone who really knows what to look for and can personalize the solution to your specific needs. You owe it to yourself to give Sentient a call so that you can reclaim your home. read more

I've had Sentient perform exclusion on two homes I've lived in and have always been so impressed by their attention to detail and craftsmanship. They've noticed entry points that rodents were entering I would have never noticed. I've also had them pigeon proof our solar panels and the the netting looks really nice and blends in with the roof and panels. The best thing I can say was during the pigeon proofing they found some glued/cracked roof tiles our home builder tried to cover up. We had a couple spares that Sentient cut and installed for us. Not a lot of tradesman have that kind of integrity to pause the job and show the homeowner problems on the roof unrelated to the job. Can't sing their praises enough. Definitely will hire them again in the future if we ever move! read more

Without a doubt, exceeded my expectations. I live in Suisun City, I was experiencing a severe rat issue throughout 2020/2021. I called multiple places hoping to eradicate this pest, all quotes provided said they would solve the problem with a bill 2x what Ralph quoted. The kicker, none of these quotes identified the actual problem: the rats were crawling in from under the house! Every other inspector, but Sentient, said they were getting in through spaces in the attic. In addition, these other businesses were adamant on up selling me to replace all of my insulation, stating, "the insulation poses as a severe health hazard due to rodent droppings". Ralph, however, gave me multiple DETAILED quotes pricing the job based on how much I actually wanted to have done, while still ensuring the rats would stay out. It has been one year since Sentient Pest Exclusion did their work and we have not seen a single sign of any rats. Ralph's team went above and beyond. They are honest, reasonably priced, and efficient. We are genuinely grateful for them. Thank you, Sentient Pest Exclusion!!! #killeveryrat ;) read more

This was the only company that took care of my bat problem. If you live in Suisun, you have bats. I called 4 companies prior to Sentient. Company 1- didn't do bat exclusion, just " regular" pest control. Company 2- gave me a crazy high quote to put up a one way vent. No other exclusion work. Company 3- wanted to seal off entry points without getting rid of the bats first. Company 4- phone tag galore. I called Sentient and was able to speak to Sirena right away. Ralph came out and gave me an estimate and completed the work as promised. He even went above and beyond and honored additional requests that I sprung on him last minute. This is a stand up company that I would recommend to anyone with pest issues, specifically bats and rodents. read more

Ralph was very rude to me when I asked him questions regarding the work that was done on my roof he continued to go back in fourth with me and he didn't fix the problem regarding the bat entering into my condo. I wouldn't recommend him to fix any that's having this type of issue like mines. Because he never fixed my issue and he was very confrontational unprofessional with having a simple conversation with me. read more

We called Ralph and he came out the same day to take a look and confirm that we had rats in our attic. He spent a few hours checking everything then took me around and showed me all the points where they could be getting in. Once he had a plan in place he came back a few days later and made all the repairs. He was on time every time he came and very friendly. The overall price of 600 was standard for the industry and it also came with a 2 year warranty. He was very thorough and I was impressed with the amount of work he put it. He not only covered all the points where they were currently coming in at, but also covered any points where they might come in in the future. read more

We highly recommend Sentient Pest Exclusion Services. Sirena is so helpful, competent and organized. She answered all our questions & scheduled an appointment with Ralph to check our roof and under house for rodent entry. Ralph did an exceptional job locating the areas needing attention. Nick finished the work in a day and came back twice to make sure we were still rodent free. We are glad we used this company. read more

Pest keeping you up at night? You have to call Serena and Ralph. Every detail will be handled with the utmost of care (completing the inspection like it was their home) and leaving nothing unturned. Where you lay your head should be your safe haven. When vermin invade your space it is anything but safe. I have written several reviews for other companies. The fact that I'm still at it says a lot. It's been two long years and I've just about given up a losing battle. I only wish I would have done my homework and started with "Sentient". Ralph, the owner was extremely compassionate and understanding with my level of frustration and exhaustion. What most impressed me was the care and attention to detail they gave me throughout the entire process. I'm talking from the first phone call to the actual appointment. Serena, returned my call within minutes. She listened with such an open heart and genuine concern for my situation. These are really good people! Serena drove out to loan me a game camera that she walked me through setting up so that we could better identify the potential problem. She even put freshbatteries in it. As if not enough... Ralph showed up a few weeks later (they were fully booked) on time and ready to work. He walked the entire exterior of my home with a mirror and flashlight. He climbed the roof and checked every inch. He suited up and very thoroughly inspected both the attic and crawl space. Here's where it gets awesome. Ralph was so considerate of my home and space that he made sure he covered up clothing and shoes before and after inspection. I smiled when I noticed that he wrapped everything up in a clean drop cloth before exiting the space as to not drop anything? Nice touch. Critters can be sneaky and you need someone who knows what they're doing. Someone who really cares for their reputation and frankly can get the job done! Invaluable, Experienced and Honest beyond words. Who else would you trust with one of your most valuable possessions (your home and peace of mind). Don't chance it like I did early on, call Sentient today!!! read more

I've had a number of pest control services come to my house in Davis. Ralph and his employees are the best in the business. Some rats are so smart they know what traps are and won't go to them. The best solution is to block all attic access points. Once that is done, the problem is solved, once and for all. read more

These guys are just the best. I wasted money on a different company first. This slovenly guy showed up and told me there was no real solution other than poisoning the pests and letting them rot in my attic..."but that's a smell you'll never forget" he told me. uuuummmmm. what??? Then he told me he was too old to be crawling around in attics checking bait traps and so he wasn't going to do that, but he still took $60 for this "inspection." For this reason it took me a really long time to finally contact Ralph. I did SO MUCH research. We were ready to spend all the money or burn the house down. I actually found an amazing company but they wouldn't service my area. They told me the only guy who does it right in my neck of the woods (Yolo) is Ralph. I called him, told him all my problems. I think he was at my house the next day. He gave me a quote to seal up the house to keep pests out for good and a plan for how to get rid of the existing pests, which meant him and his partner Jay coming to my house several times a week to check the traps because I had a newborn baby and they didn't want to risk there being any smell. They were also amazingly silent while the baby was sleeping and just soooo thoughtful and hardworking. Just one little example, I had had workers come out earlier to do some work on my house and they broke the cap on my attic access. There was a chip in the corner and I expressed to Ralph my irrational but insanely gripping fear that the pests would come down through that hole. He said I didn't have to worry about it. At some point, and I have literally no idea when because they were this discreet and this good, they replaced the attic cap! They built me a new one out of wood and installed it. They didn't ask for any recompense for it!!!! Amazing. I could go on and on. They custom built some pieces that were needed to really secure my house. They were so careful to sweep up any dirt they brought in. They knew how scared I was and so they made sure I never had to see any of the remains. They were always here when they said they would be and they quoted me a price for the whole job and kept coming back and coming back until I was 1000% sure the job was done. You just cannot ask for a better company. I recommend them to everyone and anyone. Best money we spent on the house so far. XD read more

This is one of the most responsive and thorough companies I have worked with in a very long time. Ralph and Serena and their staff are on top of things and will answer questions willingly, professionally, and pleasantly. It is clear they take their work seriously which is, of course, important to their customers. Their work ethic and values are top notch. You can't go wrong using their services. read more

This company is absolutely outstanding. We were dealing with multiple pest problems and had received several consultations from other groups who just couldn't fix our issue. As soon as we called Ralph, Jade and Sirena they came out, did an extremely thorough evaluation, and were able to start and finish all the work (two pages of to-do items to keep out the critters!) within a couple weeks, all in time to be done by the holidays (and by squirrel breeding season which is apparently December - yuck). We are finally done listening to rodents scurrying around in our attic - hooray! I cannot say enough good things about Sentient. Very easy to work with, so courteous and professional, just all around great service and more effective and knowledgeable than anyone else we tried. read more

I have killed about 70 rats in the attic of our house over the past 10 years. During that time, I have engaged several rodent control companies. By far, the best was Sentient. Before I found Sentient, I found a super-expert on rodent control, Niamh Quinn, Ph.D., at the University of California Cooperative Extension in Orange County California. She trains employees of rodent control businesses. I spoke with her at length about my rat problem and she gave me details of the approach she recommends. I interviewed several representatives from local rodent control companies--but only Sentient was familiar with her approach--and they applied it for my house. In addition, Ralph of Sentient (the owner of a family owned business) performed much of the work and he and his employees (including his office staff) were spectacular with their manner and courtesy. I can recommend Sentient without qualification or reservation! Robert Panush, Fairfield CA read more

The guys came out to my house this morning for an inspection both of them very profesional! They came in and performed their inspection and told us that we had already solved the problem because my husband had fixed the dent in the garage door prior to them coming which is apparently where they were coming in through. What impressed me the most is how friendly and honest these guys are. They could have easily insisted that there was an issue and took our money! As it was we were not charged and they made it so I can sleep better at night with their reassurance. I'm a very happy camper today! Thank u Ralph and Jade! read more

First I must say before I found Sentient I felt helpless and exhausted trying to find anyone that provides bat exclusion services that were as knowledgeable as they were. Without a doubt they provide a unique niche service with outstanding quality of care. They were very honest, caring and empathetic to our situation with bats that were lingering around our home for a few months. Ralph, Sirena and the rest of their team were great to work with and communicate with through the whole process. They helped answer all questions and were very patient with the many questions we had promptly answering our emails and giving us feedback. I couldn't have asked for anyone better to help us as I was quite worried about the health of my family and the fungus that can arise from the guano droppings. I would recommend Sentient to all my family and friends regarding their services. I am very happy to say our problem has been fully resolved with no bat sightings for a few weeks now. Thank you so much for your help you guys are amazing! read more

Ralph gave a thorough inspection of my house and property for rodent control issues. He was honest about what he would and would not be able to do, based on the age of my house and its multiple additions over the years. I had the same reservations myself about anyone's ability to completely seal my house from rodents, so his honesty confirmed my own apprehension. I was very impressed with his integrity. He even gave me a free lesson on how to seal small holes in my wood siding, plus an extra sheet of patching mesh with which to do it. What a guy. read more

Yes, Sentient Pest Exclusion Services is as good as it gets. We called Ralph to help us with our mice problem. Ralph was prompt, conscientious, and his knowledge and experience put our minds at ease. He inspected around the house and in the attic (and while doing so he took extra care when in the house- using both boot covers and a canvas drop cloth under the ladder to catch debris that might have fallen from the attic.) When he was done, he showed me all the potential points of entry and gave me options on how to remedy both in the short term and future. I opted to do the work myself and Ralph was totally ok with that as well. In fact, when I told Ralph that I wanted to do the work myself, he proceeded to give me tips and advice on where to find the materials. In the end, I was more than happy with to compensate Sentient Pest Exclusion for their expert advice and the peace of mind it gave me. read more

Ralph did a wonderful job of ridding our garage of rats. I had just about given up hope, since I did not want to call the "glue and poison" type services. Ralph's approach is humane and effective -- find where the rats are coming in, block their entry, and keep them outside! It has been over a year since our intractable problem was solved. I would give him ten stars if I could. read more

We have a rental house in Davis, CA. Our tenant complained of the dreaded scratching noise in the attic at night. Ralph came out and inspected our house and found how they were getting in. There was clear proof in my mind that he found the location of how they got in. He then gave us an estimate/proposal for what it would take to pest proof this entire house [and not just the one location]. We accepted his proposal and met him at the house. Ralph explains what he is doing and why. He was careful and thoughtful through this entire process. Ralph is a pleasure to work with and we would recommend his company to anyone with a pest problem because unless you can keep out these critters, you will just have an on-going problem. read more

I normally don't write reviews, but this was by far an exception! I have waited to find the time to create a true and helpful review for other homeowners/business owners looking for exceptional pest management services. I have recently hired on Sentient to help manage a recent pest issue in my parents home. Ralph and Jay provide the best customer service by far! I have contacted and worked with other local companies such as Terminix, Advanced IPM, and Clark...and Sentient has truly gone above and beyond! I am a mother of a toddler and also terrified of little critters/bugs. To keep it simple, I had a ton of questions and concerns. It got to the point where I'd call in almost every hour and Ralph (owner) literally memorized my number by heart. Instead of expressing how annoyed he was by my excessive calls, I felt that he knew my concerns and always put me at ease with all of his answers. Both Ralph and Jay have walked us through every step of the way and ensured that the work is completed 110%. After the work had been done, we noticed less activity in our home and garage area. Jay showed us all the hot spots that our "little friends" liked to go into and sealed of every area. Parts were installed for preventative maintenance and Jay would always throw out suggestions along the way! We are so grateful and I am still thinking about what ways I can thank them by helping my family feel comfortable in our home again! Gift cards or thank you notes just will not do! I absolutely recommend Sentient if you want the best service! And might I add...THE BEST PRICING AROUND! read more

We live next to open space which, unfortunately, sends a steady stream of rodents our way. Our tile roof is no match for them. We were getting more than a little fed up with our regular exterminator, who would just shrug each time we called him out. He recommended Sentient Pest Exclusion Services. Ralph gave us a reasonable estimate for the very extensive work that needed to be done to seal up our roof and attic. While up on the roof, he took lots of pictures and showed us how they were getting in. He spent the entire day sealing up the holes and entry ways. He found ways rats were getting into the attic that would have been impossible for us to find. In short, he did an outstanding job. My husband says, "he is really good at thinking like a rat. It's really hard to figure out how they are getting in. But somehow he was able to do it." Ralph is also very punctual, responsible, great at returning calls, super reliable and just an all around great guy. I would highly recommend him to anyone who has a persistent attic rodent problem. read more
