Every time we come to Savannah we go here at least once a day. We love the coffee but the vegan options are really what we are after. They have different vegan baked goods and my favorite breakfast item includes a tofu scramble burrito or tacos. I put extra salt on them, don't judge! Across the street on weekends there usually is some kind of market. Booths include local meats, rice, vegetables, coffee, ice creams, fruits, cheeses, breads, plants, baked goods, chocolate, etc. On this particular trip we bought some apple ginger muffins. I tasted it immediately and went back to buy another. I'm so glad I did! Did I mention it was vegan? Back to the Sentient Bean... The service is okay. I think they realize people are there to either drink coffee by themselves, do work, read the paper. or pay attention to their own company. So while the service is not always the overly friendly type that you get at some places, they respect your space. Some people may think it is rude, some people like it... To each their own. One thing I did not mention was that it is CASH ONLY. But.... Don't worry because they have an ATM right in front of the door! If you are staying for a while or want to do some pre-planning, they do special orders for cakes and cupcakes. So, if you are like me and want a specific kind of cake or cupcake and don't want the typical giant, over saturated fatty cupcakes, call ahead and place an order! I ordered some chocolate cupcakes a few years ago and they were the best in Savannah! (Without all those fats and extra calories.) Did I mention there is a health foods store next door? If you are looking for an overpriced cup of terrible coffee, you've found it! I ordered a latte. You know, the drink that's supposed to be espresso and steamed milk? Well what I received was a lukewarm "steamed" cup of weak coffee. It was not foamy at all and just tasted like a blend of milk and water. The employees were nice enough but the overall appearance of the kitchen (which you can see from where you order) looked disgusting. There were dirty towels on the counter and 4 milk jugs (that were being used for drinks) sitting on the counter unrefrigerated. Save your time and money and go somewhere else. read more

Fantastic bbq tofu tacos, and the bowl of p-nut soup (I think this was the soup du jour) was really tasty and only got better when I tore up pieces of the bread that came with it and added that into to the soup. I really enjoyed this little cafe in Savanah, they had plenty of vegan options and non vegan options at a pretty reasonable price. The food was very good but be aware, sometimes it gets very busy and seating is limited. They have outdoor seating though which is a plus. The vegan bowl was flavorful but lacked texture... just adding pepitas could help. Great bread. Cleanliness of bathroom, silverware, and glassware was a little disappointing. Great spot for vegans looking for a place with good food, great atmosphere and relaxation. You order your food from the very helpful and friendly cashier, you get a trophy and you pick your place to sit and chill until your food comes. The menu isn't gourmet, but had some great, basic vegan food options: breakfast wraps, lunch wraps, soup... You get the drift. I had a wrap, chefs choice. I asked no questions about the ingredients, add long as they were vegan, I was cool. What I got was a wrap of delectable goodness. You can see from the picture there were some black beans and red peppers present. I'm not sure what else was in there. My partner in crime got the breakfast tofu scramble wrap, however it wasn't impressive, it lacked depth in flavor. It was filling nonetheless. I almost forgot, I also had the tomato basil soup. It was obviously fresh and homemade. It too lacked depth in flavor. For it to be a tomato soup, it wasn't savory, just fresh. Parking was OK. I find parking on the streets in Savannah to be a headache, but I live in Atlanta where everything is a headache...lol. Overall, I would recommend those place. Just go with the chefs choice wrap and get one of the sweeter treats in the display case... I hear they are too die for. The grime on the plates ? Napkins? Silverware? ( which is on the opposite side of the cafe and you can go get it yourself, by the way ) Would it be able to feel the chalky consistently of the "homefries" ? Would it be able to hear the faint cry of the low talking barista when they call out your drink? Would it be able to discern how lukewarm it is when you finally discover it? Or how melted your smoothie has become when you realize it has been sitting on the counter for about seven minutes? Would it be able to feel how bone dry self-serve coffee containers? I just moved to Savannah and have tried this place a couple of times because it's walking distance from me. I've gotten the same thing each time- an iced vanilla latte with almond milk. They both tasted extremely watered down and had little to no espresso flavor. I saw the baristas consistently pour espresso shots over a drink with ice already in it, so the ice melts very quickly and waters the drink down. I'm not sure if this is the problem, or if the beans/machine just aren't right. Next time I will try their iced coffee or just drip coffee to see if it's any better. I will definitely come back for the pastries though! I've tried their chocolate croissant and breakfast sandwich and both were delicious. I also really like the vibe and the outdoor patio is awesome! Hopefully the drip coffee is better, or else I may have to stop coming. read more

Stopped here on a cold early February day for a hot coffee. Definitely a hipster vibe. Easy parking nearby and the coffee was pretty good. It definitely tasted like a proper chocolate was used but it did start to taste a bit bitter after a few sips so maybe it was a dark chocolate. We loved this place! We had the mix and match breakfasts with eggs topped with farmer's market veggies and cheese, home fries, and scones. The sweet scone was to die for. Moist and flavorful and not too sweet. Great coffee too. In Portland, Maine we have a cafe called Local Sprouts Cooperative, and this reminded us so much of it! It felt homey, and healthy, and the food was so, so good. Also, the next day when I saw an incorrect charge on my statement for the cost of our meal I called the restaurant before calling the bank. They found the error (a decimal point had been transposed) and fixed it right away. They were very apologetic and professional about it. Can't wait to go back! read more

I've been here a few times and it's okay! Fun when you stop in and they're having the little kid's guitar recitals. Their chais leave something to be desired and the beer on tap for some reason doesn't taste right. But they have so much character, and the location is awesome. read more

This coffee shop is located off Lafayette square. It is just a few steps away from the park. Its on the Southern side where there's a little less to do than on the northern side. The place is a hipster coffee shop. The coffee and smoothies were a bit grainy and not the best. The staff was friendly though and it seems like a local gathering spot. Its big open and airy and is a cool building though. The robots on the walls are awesome! read more

This was a good place of you're looking for vegan and vegetarian selections. The line was VERY long when we got there at around d 10am on a Saturday. Nothing we didnt expect. We were on vacation and in no rush. So we people watched from the line. There was a large selection of food written up high so we could see. They offer a plethora of vegan choices to suit any palate. I'm not vegan nor is my wife but she got the breakfast sandwich with a vegan sausage patty and I got a breakfast wrap with beans. It was ok. Overpriced for what it was but as I said we were on vacation. The coffee was ok. The portion sizes are very small. It is a local place so the prices are higher than a chain or long standing coffee place. Its targeted to the local art students. Location is awesome by the park, and the cortado was pretty good. The barista who served me was so rude, it had me wondering if that's the gimmick at this place. He had a spiked necklace on and a too-small t-shirt, so maybe he was just trying to channel Sid Vicious? This is one of the dopest coffee shops I've been to in Savannah thus far! I went on a Saturday around 8:00 am to beat the Farmers Market traffic and get a decent parking spot. It also wasn't too crowded when I got there, so if you're going there to study get there early (if you can) to grab a table by the wall with outlet access. I had a full day of studying ahead of me so I needed something to kickstart my day off right. I opted for a caramel latte and banana nut bread. The latte was just right, it wasn't too sweet and paired well with the banana nut bread. Next time I think I'll get the bread warmed if possible, but it was still delicious as is! For lunch I ordered the black bean quesadillas and a Colombian French roast drip coffee. They give you an old recycled trophy instead of a number, like most restaurants, to keep of track of who ordered what. I thought that was a nice touch! The quesadillas were decent but nothing to write home about. The coffee on the other hand... was simply amazing. I'm not really a French roast fan but I think the "Colombian" part grabbed my attention. Though this was just a drip coffee I enjoyed it more than the latte... and it was cheaper! There's only one bathroom available so a line tends to form quickly, especially in the morning when they're at their busiest. For the students out there, this is an awesome place to get some delicious, affordable coffee, get some studying done with great music and plenty of people watching, and you can take study breaks to walk around Forsyth park which is just across the street! Walked here from my hotel for a plant based lunch. I ordered the tacos with tofu scramble and black beans. I had them add Daiya cheese. The tacos had shredded spinach on them. Everything tasted great but I've giving 4 stars because it just felt too dark and not very clean. The baked good were not well labeled and everything was wrapped in plastic wrap. Little restaurant across the street from Forsyth Park in quaint Savannah. The food was vegetarian with a good selection. I just ordered the baked potatoes with greens, butter and sour cream. It also has a selection of vegan goods also. The do serve wine and craft beers along with specialty sodas. Atmosphere was very hip and nouveau setting. Staff were cool and friendly. Seating ranged from couches to tables with s patio in the rear and some tables on the sidewalk near the park. I recommend it all vegan and vegetarians. read more
