We came on a Friday for lunch around 12:30p (party of 2) and only had to wait 15 minutes to be seated. However, we overheard that there was an hour wait for the following people in line! I'd budget a longer wait at dinner time (or a weekend lunch), unless you can make it right when they open. As mentioned by others, this is a tiny place, introduced by an unassuming door and a ramp of stairs. There are just 10 bar stools set around a sushi bar, but the day we went only 7 were being served during lunch... probably because it was just a 1-man show). We opted for their Kyoto set and a few more hand-rolls with à la carte (the king salmon and the eel were our favorite). This is a solid omakase, affordable and of really good quality. We will return.

Came for dinner on a Thursday at 5:42 and got seated after about a 10-minute wait. My boyfriend and I both did the Tokyo set which was a great value/price. Highlights were the trout, king salmon, chopped toro, and Hokkaido scallop. Service was good.

Friendly staff, intimate space, and most importantly, delicious sushi! Everything was so fresh and expertly (and efficiently) prepared by the chef. The space only seats 10 at the counter and there's no waiting list, but the meal is well-paced and moves along quickly. My friend and I did the Hokkaido set for $48/person, which comes with 10 pieces of nigiri, 2 handrolls, and 1 kaisendon. Fantastic value -- compared to the Tokyo and Kyoto sets, the Hokkaido set comes with a king salmon and fatty tuna handroll (instead of white fish and salmon), sweet shrimp nigiri, and salmon roe on the kaisendon. Loved the thoughtfulness and elevated experience at this price point. Would definitely come again to get my omakase fix!

Tucked away in the second floor of a building near Herald Square, this 10-bar seating sushi spot is a true hidden gem. I've had this spot bookmarked for a while because of how popular it was on social media and it truly did not disappoint. I went with a group of three at 1pm on a Sunday and got lucky that there was seating right away. My friends and I all ordered the Hokkaido Sendo set which offers 10 nigiri, 2 handrolls, and a mini kaisendon for $48. While I can't remember the name of every nigiri, the three highlights were: the botanebi prawn (shrimp) nigiri, bluefin tuna nigiri, and the toro taku handroll. It was mesmerizing to watch the chef prepare the sushi and the hostess was friendly. There weren't any crazy toppings on the nigiri's like you would typically see at some other omakase spots, but with reasonably priced sets, and fresh, high-quality fish, you really can't go wrong. Would love to come back soon!

We stopped in for a quick weekday lunch. The space was small, but clean and elegant. We both ordered the Tokyo lunch set. While the fish was undeniably fresh, the meal overall didn't leave much of an impression. The nigiri was solid, but nothing particularly stood out, and I've definitely had better sushi rice elsewhere. That said, the mackerel nigiri was a highlight, easily the best I've had. There wasn't anything wrong with the meal, just nothing especially memorable beyond that one standout bite. If you're looking for a quick, tasty, and healthy lunch, it's a good option. But if you're expecting something exceptional, you might come away a bit disappointed.

Ordered for delivery and the packaging was so impressive! Apparently, the packaging is usually even better but they ran out due to high demand! Food wise, this was incredible. The fish was so fresh and one of the best sushi takeouts! My only disappointment was the wait time for my order however, this was also due to high demand. This speaks to the high quality of the food and popularity! I spoke to the restaurant on the wait time and they were very kind for future visits.

This was my first omakase experience, and it was amazing! Sendo is a bit hard to find, the sign is tiny and the door is very unassuming, I walked past it like 3 times (it's right in between a corner store and pizza shop). It's a tiny place with only 10 seats, luckily I only had to wait about 10 minutes on a Monday night. The interior was beautiful, and they had a fire playlist (oldies rap music). The staff was extremely attentive and polite. I got the hokkaido set, and for $48 it comes with 10 nigiri, 2 hand rolls, and a mini kaisendon. The price is a huge steal for both quantity and quality. I was fuller than I expected at the end. My favorite was the tuna hand roll with radish!

This spot has the best sushi boxes and they consistently hit everytime I've gotten them. The sushi is fresh and is the perfect amount of sushi in a box for a reasonable price. The favorite sashimi were the tuna, and salmon but everything in the box is soild. I've had alot of sushi and the ingredients here are top-notch. This is my go to spot and with so many options in NY, this spot is exceptional, so check it out!

Sendo has one of the best quality sushi I've had in New York so far. The service was fantastic. Inside, it's quiet and very intimate, only about 10 bar seats available with the sushi chef right in front of you hand rolling your pieces. No reservations so plan to wait a bit. They're a bit hard to find - second story from a small walkway up.

I ordered the takeout omakase from Sendo, and it's a really solid option if you're craving omakase but didn't manage to snag a reservation. Everything was fresh, nicely prepared, and packed well for takeout. The sushi was pretty good overall, though nothing particularly memorable or standout, which is why it lands at four stars for me. Still, for the convenience and quality you get without sitting in the restaurant, it's a great backup plan (or even a main plan) when the omakase craving hits.

I have eaten at sendo twice, once for lunch and once for dinner. It's located up a narrow staircase next to a pizza shop, only marked by its door. They are a walk in only restaurant which worked out great for me both times as a party of one as I was sat within 15 minutes. Each time I've ordered kaisendon sets and the quality was incredible with each visit. Sendo isn't some over the top place that is going to do crazy toppings, it's just consistently great fish for a fantastic price. I feel so lucky each time I get a seat here!

We arrived early so we could be seated right when they opened. I'm not sure if it's because it was really cold, or a weekday, but the restaurant was not busy until a bit later. They don't take reservations, and don't have a lot of seats so you might have to wait depending on what time you arrive. The service was very friendly and attentive while we were there, but this is definitely a fast casual omakase spot, so don't expect to stay for long. The seats are close together and the space is cramped, and restaurant was cold on the day we were there. The pieces are simple and the quality is good. The Hokkaido set, 10 nigiri, 2 handrolls, 1 mini kaisen don, is a good portion and reasonably priced. Overall a consistently good fast affordable omakase spot.

I got takeout- the box is really nice and presentation is strong. The sushi is fresh. I got the Akita set and you get to pick the 2 types of rolls - I enjoyed the salmon avocado rolls and not so much the hamachi yellowtail. I also got the toro roll... it was okay. I think the salmon avocado roll was the winner. Total was about $61. The entrance is really hard to find....I spent like 20min trying to find it. It's pretty small inside as well - intimate.

The atmosphere here was a bit more lively and crowded compared to the more relaxed vibe of the UWS spot. I enjoyed my meal even more this time around. I started with the beet salad, which was delicious and offered great value given the generous portion size. it featured sliced beets, arugula, goat cheese, and walnuts. I also had my eye on the hijiki soybean salad--which is a bit smaller and reportedly homemade--so I may try that next time, along with the warm mushroom salad which looked very tasty. The edamame was standard but served as a nice starter. For my main rolls, I chose the salmon avocado and the yellowtail scallion. Both were very fresh and definitely worth ordering again. The salmon avocado roll had a nice touch of sesame seeds on the rice, while the yellowtail scallion was prepared with the seaweed on the outside. My boyfriend's sushi entree looked excellent, so I am considering that or the sushi-sashimi combo for my next visit. The entrees provide a substantial amount of food, and I especially appreciate that they allow you to choose which roll comes with your meal.
