12 courses for $55...in THIS economy?? Be so serious. For crazy fresh, buttery, melt-in-your-mouth, omakase in the city, Mojo East is really that girl. Every single piece actually blew me away. Everything was insanely fresh and complex in flavors, and the order they presented each bite just made sense. They mastered the art of not just a meal, but an experience. I genuinely couldn't even tell you my favorite because they all did not miss. The service was top-notch, which is crazy given their "no tipping allowed" policy. Our sake glasses and water cups were never empty, and the chefs made sure we had plenty of ginger to cleanse our palates for the next piece. I will say, for the price point this place is amazing, but be prepared to have a late night snack if you're chronically hungry as I am LOL. Also, not sure what the walk-in policy looks like, but would highly suggest making a res beforehand (and making it on-time for a smooth experience). I will for sure be returning next time I'm in NYC!!

Great value and quality for an omakase meal in NYC. The servers and sushi chefs are friendly, and the dining experience cheekily calls upon the diners' participation at some points. The pacing is more rushed than other omakase experiences I've had, though serving more patrons is likely how they're able to keep their prices so low. I enjoyed my time here and will definitely be back!

An amazingly intimate setting, this $55 omakase in a steal in this economy. It is also a creative expression of sushi. I would never have paired sea bream with chilli or ebi with Uni. They also use heat liberally and their rice is always appropriately heated such that the fish and rice melds together in a yin-yang like embrace. And so be good kids and eat the nigiris as soon as pBe warned though that the portion sizes are small - maybe big to ants :)

Great experience! I came by myself for a lunch in December and reservations weren't hard to make. Seating was tight but the meal was tasty. Happy I tried a new spot, but with so many omakase restaurants popping up, I'd respectfully like to try another place before coming back. Thanks for the nice meal and lovely experience!

We wanted to check out this place because of their no-tipping policy, along with the $55, 13-course omakase. Needless to say, we were blown away. The ingredients were high quality, and every course was excellent. My personal favorites were the Ebi-Uni (shrimp with sea urchin) and the Orata (sea bream). The shrimp was sweet and succulent, and the sea urchin was the perfect complement. The Orata was another standout--I'd never had chili oil with nigiri before, and it was simply delicious. I loved the subtle kick from the oil when paired with the sea bream. Definitely a great experience for the price. Highly recommend this place.

Ambiance - casual, spot only offers omakase & no regular dining options Service - exceptional, staff and chef made sure my party was taken care of Food - don't sleep on this $55 no tipping omakase (overall fish quality was really good except for the uni)

At $55, this is a 5 star omakase. Every piece was done well but kept it safe in terms of uniqueness. Toppings included caviar, truffle, yuzu, etc. Not anything too out of the ordinary, but everything was very delicious. The best pieces in my opinion were the seabass, the salmon foie gras, the scallop, and the unagi. The ginger was plentiful and delicious as well. The inside is a little tight because people are coming and going and waiting along the back wall, so waiting for your table can be a squeeze. But when you're seated, the environment is nice, the service is great and I didn't feel rushed at all. Overall for the price point and how good the food and service was, this is probably the best budget omakase I've ever had.

My friends and I all had a great omakase experience at Mojo East! Thanks to the wonderful energy and enthusiasm from Tim! His energy was what our hungry group needed after shopping throughout Soho, and he made the experience memorable. Tim explained the different nigiri prepared as most of us don't really eat omakase often and aren't familiar with it. Also, catered to my allergy preferences and asked that beforehand. Reservations were made in advance, and they try their best to start on time, so be prepared to do the same. The experience was great and I would highly suggest it if you're looking for a omakase experience with variety and doesn't hurt the wallet! My favorite nigiri was the chu toro piece with fresh wasabi that he placed on our hand and the other one where he spritzed glitter on. I loved and savored every bite and was very glad to have booked with Mojo East.

Obsessed with omakase & Mojo East delivered. Casual and clean spot, offering a 13-course omakase dinner for $55 with a no tipping policy. Such an affordable price. My friend and I ordered the sakari yuzu sake, so refreshing and sweet. Highly recommend this sake. My personal sushi favorites were the salmon-foie gras, A5 Wagyu, ikura, and the shrimp-sea urchin. Thank you so much to the staff, the service was beyond and the sushi was fresh and delicious. I'll absolutely be back.

Probably the best value Omakase you can get in the city. Note that you definitely need a res. Also it is quite crowded inside -- you're thigh to thigh with your neighbor. 13 courses for $55 is such a steal and the pieces got better and better as the meal went on. My favorites were definitely the A5 wagyu and the sea bream with chili oil on top. I'll be coming back!!

This was my first Omakase and I am so glad I got to experience Mojo East! The service was great, the food was intentionally created, and the atmosphere was clean and minimalist. Your seat is set for you with a wet towel to clean up. All the food is prepared in from of you. Each items was clearly selected to flor with the next item. The whole Omakase set was delicious! Would definitely go again if I am ever in the area again!

My SIL gifted my husband and I this omakase experience that she won on social media. We made a rsvp and had a great quick meal! I really enjoyed the sable fish, a little more unique and not a typical fish at these omakase spots. The ikura was also delish - not too salty and well marinated. My typical favorites are uni, ebi and scallop so I was excited to get a bit of all of them! The uni was a tad fishy though. Overall a great experience for this price point - $55/ person and not tipping. Service was good, water was refilled quickly!

Such a great experience tonight at Mojo East! Definitely one of the best Omakase experiences I've had yet, and was definitely worth your buck! Here, it is a set $55/ per person for 13 amazing courses, with no tipping allowed! We found this restaurant through TikTok and am so glad we did! We also ordered a sake that paired very well with the amazing food tonight! Would definitely recommend coming back!

Is there an option just for someone who only eat cooked fish, my fiend can't eat raw and we like to try this place out? Thanks you

Omakase is not for your friend unfortunately. It's majority raw fish.

Even before the food arrives, the restaurant leaves a strong impression with its stunning Japanese-inspired interior. The space is beautifully designed, blending warmth and elegance in a way that feels both inviting and refined. From the soft lighting to the natural wood accents and thoughtfully arranged decor, everything about the atmosphere feels intentional. It captures the intimate charm of a traditional izakaya while still feeling modern and stylish, making it a wonderful setting for anything from a casual dinner to a more special night out. The food more than lived up to the beauty of the space. One of the first highlights was the salmon onigiri, a dish that proved how satisfying simplicity can be when it is done well. The rice was soft, fresh, and perfectly formed, holding together without feeling too compact, while the salmon added a savory richness that made each bite feel comforting and flavorful. It was balanced, delicate, and deeply satisfying in a way that made it memorable despite its simplicity. The seared salmon salad was another standout. The salmon itself was beautifully prepared, with a lightly seared exterior that gave it a subtle crispness, while the inside remained tender, buttery, and smooth. That contrast in texture made the dish especially enjoyable. Paired with the freshness of the salad, it felt light and refreshing, yet still substantial enough to feel like more than just a side dish. It was a dish that managed to feel both clean and indulgent at the same time. The grilled squid was particularly impressive and easily one of the most memorable items of the meal. Squid can often be difficult to get right, as it can become rubbery or overly chewy if even slightly overcooked, but that was absolutely not the case here. The texture was spectacular--tender, delicate, and pleasantly springy without any toughness. Each bite had a light smokiness from the grill that added depth, while the squid itself retained its natural sweetness. It was expertly prepared and showcased a level of precision that really stood out. For the main courses, both the Tonkatsu Ramen and the Black Pepper Ramen delivered distinct experiences, each with its own appeal. The Tonkatsu Ramen was deeply comforting and satisfying, with a broth that had a rich, velvety texture and a full-bodied depth that coated the palate beautifully. It felt smooth, hearty, and luxurious without being too heavy. The noodles had an ideal texture as well--firm enough to provide a satisfying bite, yet soft enough to soak up the broth and integrate perfectly into the dish. Altogether, it was a bowl that felt warming, balanced, and incredibly comforting. The Black Pepper Ramen, on the other hand, brought a bolder and more assertive flavor profile. The broth had a smooth, glossy texture, and the noodles again had a pleasing chew that gave the dish structure and substance. The black pepper added an unmistakable warmth and aromatic intensity that made the ramen stand out immediately. It was flavorful and memorable, though the pepper was slightly overwhelming at times. A bit less black pepper would have allowed the other flavors in the broth to come through more clearly and created a more balanced bowl. Even so, the ramen was still enjoyable, especially for those who appreciate strong, pepper-forward flavors. Overall, Izakaya Fuku is a restaurant that succeeds on every level. The stunning Japanese interior creates an atmosphere that feels both immersive and elegant, while the food reflects a real attention to detail in both flavor and texture. From the comforting salmon onigiri, to the fresh and beautifully prepared seared salmon salad, to the expertly grilled squid with its exceptional texture, and finally the rich and satisfying ramen dishes, every part of the meal felt carefully executed. It is a place that offers not just excellent food, but a complete dining experience, and it is well worth visiting for anyone looking for standout Japanese cuisine in New York.

I've had them before so I knew what to expect but it was way too salty, less flavorful. Had a very nice flavor, the salt overpowered it though. I tasted mushroom. Couldn't decipher distinctly from other top notch ramen so it wasn't knock your socks off. From now on I'll order the base dish when I go places so I can judge better. The gyoza was cooked very nicely, came sizzling and the bun with meat was a little ugly, it looked boiled and unappetizing. The taste was just okay. The topping on it was notable. The waitress didn't help us at all when ordering. We weren't bowled over with the food, although it was noted the meat in the ramen was high level. I'd have to say...the tonkatsu was quite good....not quite as sublime as my favorite tonkatsu place in Tokyo...but still, very, very good. Their location is a little hidden, it's on the second floor above Soba Noodle Azuma on 55th Street between 7th and 8th Avenues, closer to 8th. You have to go up a stairwell on the side. Getting to the food, their focus is on meat, seafood and vegetable skewers though they also have a variety of appetizers, rice bowls and noodles, and dessert. The meats and veggies are grilled over charcoal while basted with "tare", a house-made sauce that adds a level of umami to the caramelized grill flavors. Recently I got a handful of skewers for takeout, including: - Ebi (shrimp) $8 x 2: the shrimp were cooked just right, tender and juicy, yum! - Hotate Eringi (scallop and oyster mushrooms) $8 x 2: the textures of the oyster mushrooms and scallop pieces complemented each other, and were kinda similar. Another tasty offering. - Negi pon (pork belly with scallions) $7: I'm not a huge fan of pork belly in general, though they grilled it well here and chopped scallions added a little spicy tickle. While not the cheapest for skewers that you can find, (and inflation hasn't helped,) their flavors are authentic and their quality and consistency is key here. I'm glad it's still here since there seems to be fewer and fewer good yakitori spots in Manhattan these days. They used to have another location in the city though I believe this closed pre-pandemic, however from their website they now have another location in Boston. This was also the sister restaurant to Ramen Totto which had four locations at one point though all have shuttered as well. Hope this location stays around for a long time!
