If you're looking for traditional edomae style omakase, this is the spot! They offer 17 courses for $189. Definitely not as affordable as other budget-friendly omakase spots, but the quality speaks for itself. You're basically guaranteed a Michelin star level experience. The focus here is all on the fish. Toppings and sauces are minimal: just a tiny brush of soy, a hint of yuzu, or a dab of wasabi. The texture and the flavor of the fish really shine. The chefs also marinate, lightly sear, or cure the fish to bring up the umami. That's why some pieces, like the ishigakidai (knifejaw) and akami tuna, were aged for two weeks. Their head chef previously worked at Sushi Nakazawa, a one star michelin omakase spot! My favorite courses: *kama toro with caviar - a rare cut from the cheek/neck of bluefin tuna, so buttery and fatty! *hokkaido scallop - hidden between the scallop and rice, the yuzu pepper added a bright, citrusy pop with a peppery kick. *buri - wild-caught, fatty yellowtail available only in winter, which is much richer than the usual farmed kind I usually have. *uni handroll - possibly the creamiest uni I've ever had, and they didn't skimp! Just look at how much uni they packed in. *chawanmushi - topped with ikura and firefly squid, I loved how generous they were with the ikura!

Incredible omakase spot that just opened a couple months ago. 17-course omakase for $189. It's more on the pricer side, but definitely worth it. Service was flawless. Cozy and intimate space. Sushi was fresh and tasty, love the presentation. Definitely a must visit, such a memorable experience. I look forward to coming back soon.

Guest written by my suitor: "How do I day rhis ? Clunky but solid, Price a bit steep given where they are in thier learning curve. They can grow into the price but have to step up timing, ambience and overlal vibe. Unrelalized potential but need to level-up to compete with better priced options in LES, Noho and elsewhere." Now for my review: The good - the people working there are extremely accommodating and nice. The not so good - Oof. For the price point they need to work on their presentation and polish. There was a beverage fridge right behind us, and they directed me to a second bathroom that was kind of janky. The timing was a little slow, and they were running behind. We arrived six minutes late and were told to wait outside or next door, which was fine since it wasn't too cold, but they should have a waiting area for people who arrive early or want to keep chatting after. There were a couple good bites but the rest were mediocre.

What an experience! This is a different class of Omakase !! I been to 10+ in the city but this was Top 5 , no special sauces. This was fresh fish and you can taste the quality. You can differentiate the $100 AYCE to this. This is next level and not for everyone pocket. MUST TRY IN THE CITY

This was a great experience with amazing chefs and great setting ! A well diversified tasting put together to take your tastebuds on a journey!

Niku and gyunan were divine. In the niku, they somehow managed to make the tripe and beef tendon immensely flavorful and tender without being heavy-handed. The fatty beef in the gyunan was crack with the sesame chili oil. The bonito base soup was somehow savory and full-bodied while also being sweet and light, so even though I was about to burst it didn't feel icky. Nothing to note in appetizer land besides the fact that I finally tried monkfish liver and it literally tasted like a salmon-flavored paté. Both surprised and relieved it tasted so normal. Despite the long wait time, it still felt relatively spacious inside, and even with just two people, we got our own booth!

Service was really good and they checked in on us a lot.

But at last, as I searched on DoorDash I stumbled upon this glorious restaurant they call Izakaya Fuku. I was drawn to the adorable names for their sushi roll dishes like "Strawberry Fields" and their Italian Japanese fusion pasta dishes, "Creamy Mentaiko Bacon Pasta" with creamy mayonnaise, spicy cod roe and bacon like are you kidding me? It's a bummer I wasn't more hunger or that I didn't have more bucks in my wallet because I wanted all these dishes. And the Chirashi Don, god it looks so beautiful the way that it's arranged in the photos online. I finally decided on the carbonara. And I was drawn to the fact that it was udon based. Now, I've just been living in hawaii these past years so that Japanese twist on an Italian dish that I just love oh so much really brought me back to missing the islands and the Asian spins they had on cuisines. Now my food may have not come in a jiffy but for after midnight cravings I'd say it was well worth the wait. And my oh my the portion was huge!!!! I slurped that big boy up. It was SOOO delicious and savory. I love comfort food and this had me in carbonara heaven. I loved indulging into every single last bite. By the looks of the picture the restaurant looks lovely, I'd love to stop there and try it in person. Thank you. Thank you! My belly and my heart are very much satisfied.

It would've been very easy to miss unless you're specifically looking for this place. Upon entering you're greeted by the numerous Michelin guides lol, front desk seated me pretty shortly after ensuring my seat was set, I was sat at the bar where they have a scan menu. Server immediately was attentive and filled my glass with some water. I was originally going to get the Dashi ramen but after I shared I'm allergic to shrimp the server felt it was a bit risky he was very careful so I appreciated that. I got the Tokyo ramen instead and a side of shishito peppers (he also omitted the Dashi JIC). It was happy hour so the appetizer was $7 I/o $8 and I also got an Asahi draft for $8. Ramen was $22. I was very surprised the server even asked about the oil the pork and peppers are fried in JIC of cross contamination - he shared that they use the same batch of oil as frying tempura (but I was ok with that but just watch out if you're like super super sensitive). Ramen: 7/10, decent bowl but not the best I've had. Feels a bit more Americanized and I prefer authentic Japanese ramen. Soup was rich, flavor but again it's one you can find at many other ramen shops in nyc. Noodle was a bit lackluster it was a bit soggy, not springy like freshly made ramen. The pork slices are flavorful but felt it's bit thin, I prefer a good cut...but personal preference. There's 2 thicker slices of marinated bamboo and half a jammy egg topped with scallions. Decent bowl but don't think it's worth $22. Shishito peppers: nicely fried. Well seasoned. 9/10 Overall - good spot for a decent bowl of ramen in the area. Environment: clean, nothing that caught my attention with design but just minimalist style, with black hard

Loved the more traditional izayaki vibes and I could smell/hear the grill as I walked in. The chicken meatball and the hanger steak were both very tasty, tender, and well-seasoned. I'm not a huge pork belly fan, but I was surprised at the ratio and how it wasnt overly fatty. The king oyster mushroom was kinda buttery in a delicious way and the shiitake was classic with a nice smokey-ness. The unagi don came with well-cooked eel. The accompanying tamago was very smooth and custard-y with a radiating miso flavor that I really enjoyed! Ratio of rice to ingredients was also great! The fried shishito peppers were tasty with the salt and lemon. Food came out quick and staff were polite. Haven't heard of this place until today and I look forward to going back!

There was traditionally an hour wait at least during prime meal time. People would sit in the chairs that lined the entry hallway because it was just that good. Over the years, I spent so many evenings sitting at the yakitori bar meeting other people who also had a deep love for this restaurant. When I came to NYC for a weeks visit, I'd often eat her three times even though there are so many great places to eat. Something happened over the past 5 or 6 years. Maybe it changed ownership? I should have known when I walked in to a restaurant that was half full. Some of the recipes of old favorites have changed. Most importantly, some of the skewers were tough, dry and over grilled. And everything was presented in the same way, and everything slathered in the same yakitori sauce instead of each dish arriving grilled to perfection and presenting itself as its own particular delight executed from the imagination of a chef who truly cared.
