Looked up Yelp reviews and was wow'ed by all the five star ratings. Therefore, I had to check it out to compare with my favorite burger in the area. Upon entering, the narrow shop provides a wide counter on the right full of board games and even a small Pac Man game machine. Guess some people come in and game a little while they eat. This shop definitely gives off the family friendly neighborhood vibe that locals may appreciate. As for the food, there were two of us, so we shared a Burger Classique and Cub's Pub. For some reason, the Burger Classique came out lukewarm and very dry. It was not enjoyable at all. Honestly, if this burger is the only one we shared, we would not come back again for sure. However, the Cub's Pub was served hot and quite delicious. The combination of Swiss cheese and caramelized onions, along with the black pepper aioli and tangy sauce, was great. Btw, our Sweet Potato Fries were good, but not as crispy as expected since we specifically requested "extra crispy." Regardless, they were satisfactory. On the other hand, the Fried Onion Rings were a fail. We didn't like the batter and the onions were barely noticeable. Wow just an amazing experience, I was visiting NYC for the weekend and just needed food and this was near by didn't think much of it but it far exceeded my expectations. The owner/employee was outside waiting and brought us in, he was super nice. We ordered and sat down and it was so cool. There were games you could play while eating like tic tac toe or chess etc and even Pac-Man! It was such a cool vibe. Great local spot on 10th Avenue with fresh delicious hamburgers and fries. Recently ordered delivery, came quickly and everything was hot. The grilled cheese and tomato soup special looks so good. If you dine in there is plenty of seating. There are weekly specials such as the Community Combo where you get a burger and fries for $11.00 with $1 from the sale going directly to supporting clubs/sports at Beacon High School around the block. It's adorable, inviting, and a true hidden gem. The owner was there, and we ordered the special-I (double patties with special sauce and fries). This is a small little restaurant me and my friends stopped and holy heck is it really good! It's very small but it has very cute art works on the wall and the food is AMAZING! My sandwich "the greaser" was basically a grilled cheese with bacon and tomato on SOURDOUGH and it was genuinely an amazing sandwich. Let me just say this place is a 9/10 for burgers ! I opted for the custom burger which had , lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles, pepper jack cheese with a black pepper aioli. Let me just say it was delicious! I loved how fresh all the ingredients were and how well made the burger was! I definitely devoured it haha. I got the Sylvester smash burger combo, and upgraded to an additional patty and seasoned (Cajun) sweet potato fries. It also came with a small cup of ice cream (S'mores) and a soda can. The food was tasty and fresh overall. The burger was a bit too salty and the seasoning on the sweet potato fries was much too light to even have a discernible taste. The ice cream wasn't anything special, it was very very sweet. Overall it is a decent combo and the service was great. I'll be back but next time I'll just offer the regular combo without upgrading the fries or adding a second patty. read more

It was pretty good here. I found Cubby's on Yelp looking for a good burger place. Reviews were solid so one night I was walking by and ran into them - gave them a shot. Small place seats about 10-ish. The girl taking the orders was very helpful and nice, she said the Cubs Pub (double patty) was the most popular. So that's what I got along with some fries. The burger comes with a nice toasted sesame seed bun. Overall the double patty with cheese and caramelized onions was very good. My burger was well seasoned too. It's very close to a 5-star experience. I would just like to give them another try just to be sure. I liked the fries too - smaller cut, and there's an option to put Old Bay Seasoning on it. I overlooked that but she said no worries and gave me a side of Old Bay - oh what a difference that made! A very clean place too, a lot of white, and if I lived close by this would be a spot I would go to get my double cheeseburger. I do highly recommend and I will definitely go back at my best convenience. I can't complain about the price - I mean here in Austin (where it's notorious for inflated pricing) our new smashburger place popped up and charges $3 more for their double (albeit Kobe beef), but still, I think Cubby's is a better burger and their quality was really good too - not to mention the friendly service! read more

Listen, you cannot go wrong with the combo meal: $15 for a smashburger, fries, soda, and ice cream. It's a good deal for a decent burger etc etc. That said, I wanted to like this place a lot, and I wasn't particularly blown away by the food. Everything was fine -- no complaints. But I think I'm more likely to go around the corner to Lovely's, whose burger I prefer -- but just slightly. Maybe it was the Sylvester Smash that I got -- i wasn't crazy about the sauce. I thought the burger could've used more crispiness. I'm willing to go again for sure, and "build my own." (For what it's worth, the husband says he prefers the onion rings at Lovely's too. And I definitely prefer their fries.) I'm still totally rooting for this place. Service is better here for sure. Dog-friendly too which is a win. Third time at Cubby's asked for xtra pickles. First time one pickle. Second time no pickles. So this time I told the guy and said, "Please make sure he gives the pickles." Guess what? got home with burger - no pickles. I called them just so the guy would know and he was quite rude and didn't say anything at all on the phone. My french fries are burned and seem old. I've had the onion rings here before and didn't like the batter, but that's just me.
