This is a favorite spot for me and my friends to hit after AnimeNYC or New York Comic Con at the Javits Center! The burgers are delicious, seasoned incredibly and cooked accurately to your preference. The menu has a great variety but we stick to the burgers since they are so satisfying. We crave it every time we're in the city! Service was nice and to-the-point. The restaurant is very small and better for takeout, but we always eat inside since we don't live in the city. Few things we didn't like that we wanted to note, luckily having nothing to do with food quality: - There is a 15% fee for dining in, which is honestly ridiculous and takes advantage of customers like us who can't bring it somewhere else to eat. - Many of the imagery used on marketing outside the store and on the digital menus are AI generated. This food is wonderful and can stand on its own, so the use of AI feels needlessly deceptive. So we got done at a trade show close to 8:00. We had stayed out to 3am the night before. So we were like we need to eat and then pass out. My only prerequisite was a quiet place with quick food. This place was completely empty. One lowly chef standing at a counter staring out. So we went in. I got the lamb burger and my cohort got the turkey. They were really good. We split the bbq cheese fries. The fries were the best part. They were super crispy and covered in cheese and barbecue sauce. The burgers are mediocre and I normally wouldn't write a bad review because I don't like hurting small businesses. I tip well because that's how ppl make their living. Ordered at this place and I was presented with the tip screen. I tipped and paid. Then I looked at my receipt. They automatically added 15% gratuity on top of my tip. No where is there a sign saying gratuities are automatically added. Why I did just pay two tips.? Why is there a tip screen if you've already 15%. They also charge 3.3% fee for credit cards, there is a sign stating that at least. Look it's not a big deal, but I won't be back. I know it's hard running a small business in NYC. Insane rents, burdensome regulations. But here's the deal. You tell the customers the real price, then they decide whether to patronize you or not. No deceptive practices. Honestly, this was one of my favorite burger spots, it use to be packed all the time, but through out the years it has been going down. It has become a "hit or miss". As of recently, I ordered two burgers, to then find the cook in the back using his bare hands, NO GLOVES! making the food. After several months of wanting to try this spot (and having once made the attempt but finding they were closed) I got to try burger world at last! I've had my eye on the poutine fries forever and considering the gravy usually has beef in it and is therefore rarely vegetarian or halal, trying it at this halal establishment was a must. I couldn't say I liked it very much though. The saltiness of the poutine fries were overpowering. I was immediately parched after just a few bites. It was definitely beefy and the gravy was thick. Poutine consists of cheese curds but this was clearly just melted mozzarella. I didn't expect authenticity so it wasn't really a big deal. The beef in the beef burgers was very generic and the sauces were boring. Just ketchup. Nothing extraordinary. The turkey bacon was put on so sparingly it was embarrassing (as you can see from the photo). Overall the burgers looked pretty good but taste wise were just average. I brought a cousin from England here and he really loved his burger (he says the beef burgers back home are the flat patties) but my brother who has tried dozens of beef burgers rated it pretty standard. I ordered the Burger World Special Burger, a single beef patty with two slices of American cheese dressed in a house sauce and two shiny toasty buns along with some golden fries. The first bite was an adrenaline punch to my taste buds, I couldn't believe it I was speechless of all the flavors it had, all the flavors my tongue was experiencing at the time how this simplicity of a burger was delivering these flavors. Burger was so amazing. They give you a big patty. I ordered it medium rare pink perfectly in the middle with onions, tomato and pickles. All ingredients were very fresh. I don't like pickles but theirs were really crunchy and so fresh. Just making a note they do not put msg in their food which makes this a great place for people who are sensitive. The fried shrimp was so fresh and crispy with fresh ingredients as well. The garlic fries are so crispy and one of the best fries I have had. These have salt but not too much. Just enough. The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is that they don't have yellow mustard, which is weird. My main complaint though was with the server/owner. first you have to understand that this place is tiny, hade two tables where we had to sit shoulder to shoulder with other guests. The server placed our food on the table with no napkins, no ketchup and no straws(we ordered smoothies too). I asked him if we could have some napkins please. he waved to the only other table where there was a box of napkins available to the other customers and walked away without saying a word! Not only I had to invade the other table and reach out over the other customers food to get the napkins, but I also had to ask two other people to get off their seats so I can maneuver my way to get to the napkins. So much hassle and disruptions to all customers that could have been avoided if he simply passed the napkin box to our table or provided napkins for each of the table which is the more practical thing to do. This place is a true hidden gem in midtown Manhattan. For burgers and fries at around $10 total... it tastes like an $18 to $20 meal at a restaurant. The burger has a great grilled charcoal taste like you made it at a back yard BBQ.... and the fries are puffy and crispy and the outside and smooth on the inside and not salty at all.
