TLDR: authentic, filling, tasty. Small place that's dimly lit. L-shaped dining area. If you dine in a group at the long and tall table, there is a cut out in the center with live plants and it's a bit awkward to talk over the plants across the table. Menu is short and simple. Descriptions are pretty straight forward. Service: wait to be seated, order and pay at the table, water bottle provided to water yourself, your table will be bused. Guay Jub: almost like an adobo flavor with sweet vinegar. The pork was very tender. Not spicy at all but they do put in a scoop of chili sauce on the top of your bowl that can be mixed in. That stuff is pretty spicy. I'm a fan of the rolled rice noodles. Tofu was pretty good as well--it was like a sponge that soaked all the flavor. FYI: you only get half of a boiled egg. read more

Came here for dinner recently, sit wherever you want style, friendly greetings and such. Nice little Thai/SE Asia look to the place, comfy setting and pretty cool looking in my book. Menu looked good, didn't know what to choose, do I want soup or do I want stir fry? We decided that each one of us would get one or the other so we don't double up here. We ordered the Guay Tiow Khaek, it's a coconut curry noodle soup with seafood such as shrimp, fish, scallops, some veg, and delicious wheat noodles. It was very flavorful, coconut curry hit the spot on a cold evening, few drops of chili oil for a little spice was perfect. Damn it was good! Also, we ordered the stir fry noodle dish Guay Tiow Kuar w/ Kai(chicken). Oh my.....this was oh so good!!!! Wide rice noodles are my fave! Stir fried up, with some egg and light soy, simple but so delish! They throw in some bean sprouts and green leaf lettuce at the last few seconds so the veg is still crisp but warmed up just enough where it's cooked. It was so perfect and I really enjoyed this. You can have the option of tofu or chicken, I believe any meat you choose, it's going to be minced style in your dish, I think it says it on the menu. Oh, the Thai Iced Tea was delicious, comes in a little mason jar if you into that kind of stuff. The staff was nice, friendly and helpful, came by to check on you, ask you how the food is etc. Quick on clearing dishes and getting your bill when you ready. Prices seem to be a little high but I was satisfied with my meal. Timing of the dishes came out separately, a good 5 mins apart, so that was a little off. I believe they may be related to Pestle Rock next door. Anyways, I really enjoyed our dinner and everything tasted delightfully wonderful. Liked this place - my husband tried a noodle soup that he'd never tried before and loved the unique flavors. I tried pad see ew and really liked it. I got the seafood pad see ew - wouldn't recommend as it had a single scallop, a single shrimp and some cod (although the fish was really good in it). The ambiance wasn't quite what we expected. We were going out for a nice date night and this is more casual date night/lunch with friends type place. That being said, they do serve beer and the food was good. Just an FYI if you're looking for somethign a bit fancier. read more

I was torn to write a review but I decided to do it anyway. First off I need to start by saying the staff was lovely and nothing to complain about. The place it self is small and cute inside. We had plans to go to another restaurant but the line was out the door. We really wanted ramen/soup so we ended up here. I didn't look up the reviews before we stepped inside and after we left I couldn't believe how many great reviews they had. We ordered two soups and one was on their specialty menu so I thought it has to be good. I got the BA MEE GIOW MUU DANG It was a disappointment and the soup had zero flavor and it was so bland. I kept eating it thinking it would change. I don't waste food so I ate it all anyway. My husband built his own and it was so overloaded with peanuts and the broth was strange. It was supposed to be spicy was it was overly sweet. I could t pinpoint what was wrong with it. I don't like giving bad reviews but we kept talking about it hours later and how it wasn't up to our expectations. They have to be doing something right cause the to go orders were slammed. Came here late last Thursday with a friend after a tea workshop at Miro on a rainy evening. We knew we wanted something comforting to warm is up. We started with the SPICY CORN PATTIES Deep-fried sweet white corn, chili paste , and lime leaf blended with a tempura batter. Whenever corn fritters are on a menu my friend has to order them. Served with sweet chili dipping sauce. They came out nice and crispy and temperature hot with a spicy sauce. My friend had BA MEE GIOW MUU DANG Carlton Farms ground pork dumplings, egg noodles, bean sprouts, onion, cilantro, house-made barbecue pork in a clear broth, and I had GUAY JUB Rolled rice noodles, pork spare ribs, tofu, boiled egg, bean sprouts, onion, and cilantro in five-spice broth. I really enjoyed my dish it had a nice kick to eat and the rolled noodles and five spice were a nice change from the usual. The pork was soft and the bean sprouts added great texture. Came here on a Saturday evening with a group of friends. The host and server are not the most friendliest people in Seattle for sure. While the quality of food is great, the quantity not so much. I ordered the Pad See Ew and the quantity was half of what you would get in other Thai restaurants all over Seattle. If I am paying 16$+ for an entree, I would expect a whole plate of food. Came here on a Friday night after a workout for a date night. This is a Thai restaurant where you wouldn't really expect much but this place was SO GOOD! For dinner, we ordered the phad kee mao (5/5) (wide rice noodles, tofu, egg, bell peppers, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes), Lamb fried rice (5/5) which came with the soup - it was so delicious! It was the best tasting minced lamb fried rice I've ever had! For dessert, we got the black rice pudding with coconut ice cream served with cream. OMG this was Amazeballs. It was soo good! After a Swanson's nursery gardening pick up, we decided to patronize a local Ballard restaurant. Since we're in this COVID-19 take out only situation, we walked up and down Market street to check out our options. Sen Noodle has excellent Yelp reviews and a friendly storefront so we decided to give it a try. Owner donned a friendly pink mask and took our order for taro spring rolls, a chicken stir fry noodle dish and a tofu curry stir fry noodle. I love taro but these spring rolls didn't show that flavor or texture off. The noodles dishes were tasty even after a half hour drive to get home. We were seated right away on a Friday night. We ordered the bbq pork soup noodle (ba mee giow muu dang) and the monk's noodle. Both were so flavorful with fresh ingredients! I really liked the variety on the menu and the vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options! It is impressive how they can make vegetarian food so tasty!! We also ordered the roti appetizer. The Suki Hang stir fried bean noodles are so good!! Guay Tiow Khaek is good too with dry wheat noodle in sauce that "cooks" the noodle. I'm not Thai but I eat a lot of Thai food and this place was by far had the most unique and authentic flavors. When I saw this new restaurant I bookmarked it. Made it up to Ballard during the gorgeous weekend we recently had and enjoyed the experience! It's a cute little place with charm, friendly staff, and good noodles. Lunch started off with thai iced coffee and plantain chips. The plantains were delicious, oh so good. The sweet and salty glaze made these chips extra special, a little sticky too. My entrée was roasted duck soup with wide rice noodles. The slices of duck were tender and melted in my mouth. Just read yesterday that Bangkok plans a major revamp of the 'street food scene'. Oh well, in the meantime, I finally had the chance to checkout Sen Noodle Bar this evening. Seattle's Ballard neighborhood was hopping on this particular Friday after a glorious sunny day. Lots of pedestrian activity and outdoor seating walking along Market. Entering Sen Noodle Bar, this site had a pleasant interior, lots of seating options, and fairly busy at 9pm. Some of my favorite Thai Street Eats include next door's Pestle Rock, Portland's Pok Pok, North Seattle's Pop Pop, and Lynnwood's Isarn. A good sign was how friendly the restaurant staff was and how fragrant the place was. The bag handed to me was hot and emitting a tantalizing smell as I walked back to my car and drove back home to Shoreline. My takeout order included two orders of Ayam Mekayu ($8 each) which were deep fried marinated chicken wings. Crisp and flavorful atop sliced cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, and julienned carrots. I also ordered some Spicy Giow ($8) which were generous wontons filled with ground pork, fresh ginger and garlic, topped with a spicy chili sauce and chopped peanuts. The third item was one of their noodle soups, Ba Mee Giow Muu Dang ($12) which had Carlton Farms ground pork dumplings, barbeque pork slices, egg noodles, bean sprouts, onion, cilantro, carrots, and baby bok choy with a clear broth (kind of flavored like corn). Very generous that I was able to split this order at home. All items easily fed three people. Delicious and worth the drive for a late Friday takeout dinner! read more

Good quality ingredients. Vegetables were fresh. We appreciated the locally sourced ingredients. However, we were woefully disappointed by the lack of spice and heat. There was no option for the spice level for online order. Spice is one of the best things about Thai food! We have learned that many PNW folks don't like spice, but the population has changed. We decided to try this restaurant when walking by randomly today and...wow!!! Super impressive!! Both the food and service were great and food were served fast. I was looking for hainanese chicken (saw it on Yelp) but couldn't find it on the menu so I asked the waiter directly and it turned out it was a special written on the board. The chicken was tender and went well with their sauce. We also ordered the curry noodle (Guay Tiow Kheak) and was also amazed by it. A combination of nice portion shrimp, fish and scallop, coconut milk based soup that tasted like laksa and was rich with a hint of sourness, plus thick noodles well-cooked all together composed this dish that I would order again next time coming in. read more

This place was amazing! I want even that hungry but ended up eating my entire dish! I got the noodle soup with clear broth and pork because I saw some other people post about it online and it looked really good.. and it ended up tasting really good! We were kinda excited una rush, we only had about 30-40 minutes to order and eat and the waiter was super fast and very friendly! It was so good, everyone that I was with had previously lived in Seattle and was shocked that they had never gone there so they were thankful that my tourist eye caught it! It feels like noodles and sauce cooked separately and combined in a plate. The pratha was not pratha. It was pita bread cut in triangles with a side of curry paste. That was confusing. Prata is flaky, thin layered, fried Indian flatbread that is served with chicken curry with potatoes. This was pita and hummus. I literally don't know why it's rated higher than Thai Thani or Secret Savory - both are superior Thai food in Ballard. read more

After attempting to go to "Sushi I" across the street and seeing it was closed we ran across the street to the closest open place. The ambience is nice. Yellow Christmas lights strewn overhead. We were looking for pho... but with Big Bowl gone we were lost. So I starting looking for soup generally and I can't across the reviews for this restaurant. So I looked to see, are people reviewing Asian? Seemed like there were Asians giving a good reference. So we decided to try it. And wow! I'm so glad we did. Everything we got was amazing. And my daughter who is super picky even said the soup is better than pho. Low and behold, I tasted her soup and she was right, the vegetarian soup was very tasty. I wanted to like this little restaurant, but I really couldn't. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere small and pleasant ... but the food came up short. We got noodles in broth with duck - and while the duck was good, and the noodles fine, the broth was way too salty. We also got the spicy noodles with tofu - that was a really terrible dish - the medium-wide noodles were just slathered in a spicy-sweet sauce - the spice part was good, but the incredible amount of sugar in the sauce was not - it was like old-fashioned cheap pink sweet and sour pork sauce from poor quality Chinese restaurants of the 1960s - but substitute spicy for the sour -- in short, a cloyingly sweet sauce that completely drowned the noodles. I'm sure some of their dishes are good - but I won't be back to find out which - at $30 for lunch for two, I've got better things to spend my time and money on. read more

3.75 stars in my book. The ambiance is super cute! I love the little details in the mismatched chopsticks and seating. It's pulled together nicely. What could be improved: The portions were pretty small and while the presentation was great, I felt the wonton noodle soup base was too sweet of an undertone. The noodles were amazing though. They definitely tasted fresh. The wontons themselves were just okay. No punch of flavor as you bite into it. It's not good nor bad. The other dish we got was the one everyone gets with seafood and coconut milk base. I was trying to find a dupe for my favorite noodle dish in a restaurant in sf. Sadly, this didn't fit the bill. The seafood was okay in my opinion, I would've preferred ground meat of some sort. Some of the seafood tasted a little fishy. All in all, they source clean meats and the service was pretty good. So if you're okay with sweet base of soup and you don't eat much, then this is a good option for you. I'm a savory type of person so if you are too, this should inform you. read more
