After 9 months of our solar and powerwall system working fine it suddenly failed to generate power and load up the powerwalls (pw 3). This is the beginning of summer and now we need to pay our utility extra to power our home. When we bought the system, we were impressed with the sales personnel responding to our text and email so quickly. They also had good reviews. At the time we were new to buying a solar energy system, so we were nervous about choosing the right company. We also wanted to take advantage of the federal credit, so weren't as diligent as we normally would be. Three weeks ago, our system stopped working. We called customer service and filed a request for service. I received an email saying that they would look into the problem and get back to us in 24 hours. Another red flag is that a ticket number was never offered and didn't know it existed. Later on, I learned this was needed for tracking. A day passed and all we heard were crickets. I responded to the email after 24 hours. Crickets. In fact, looking at all email conversations with customer service, not once did they respond to my requests for status. When I called two days later. They said they would submit it to the project team. We are starting over? Again, 24 hours of crickets. I called again and finally got connected with someone that looked into the problem only to be told that I needed to turn on Service Mode on the app so they could monitor the system. Ok, I probably could have known that, but seriously they could have reminded me of this almost a week earlier on the first call. Another 24 hours passed, more crickets. I then recruited my wife to help with this problem, and we made another phone call. She asked for a supervisor, and we were promised one would call us the next day, but you know what, we got crickets. After 48 hours after my wife's call the system was operating. We have no clue who or how it was fixed. An email requesting information about the cause and resolution was only answered by crickets. The system worked for 6 days then failed. Again, I tried calling customer service. Same response as the first call, an email and crickets. Standard form emails, "It was a pleasure speaking with you today..." or "I am very pleased I was able to assist you...". It's not service it's a system for delaying service. So basically, it turns out customer service is actually an answering service. I found out there was no way to directly contact the company. When we asked for a supervisor, we got an answering service supervisor. If we knew how poor customer service was and how difficult it was for Semper to honor the warranty commitments, we would have chosen another company. The latest is that they determined an onsite visit was needed, not just virtual monitoring. Via email they sent a response that they couldn't reach my wife. My wife didn't catch the call but instead got the voice message "Press 1 for this... Press 2 for this ... " . Of course, this is the second time this has happened to us. Rather than try multiple times to call us and make contact the issue resolution stops with an email from them and no response to our email, as well as, us calling customer service and continuing the run around. Again more emails and customer service interaction. Finally, the latest is we received a call from an account manager at Semper. She took down some information and said she would call back with an appointment date and time for the onsite visit. She did say she would try to make an appointment sooner. She called back within 5 minutes with a date and time. After a month we finally will get someone onsite. And who knows how much longer it is if replacement parts must be ordered and installed. To get to this point it took a lot of assertive discussions about lawsuits. Lesson about our journey with solar: 1) Before you sign the contract make sure you have all the contact information of the owner (email, phone, cell) or an actual supervisor you can escalate an issue when customer service fails you. 2) Get at least three quotes. 3) Do your homework. It's very hard to compare systems because each will offer a different product. What's most important is maximum kwH of solar power it can generate (perfect conditions) and the kwH battery capacity. 4) Fight for 1.5 capacity for panels and battery. This permission must be requested from the utility company (EV will completely drain your home battery, especially if you have more than one). Afterwards upgrades are less cost effective. 5) re-read this review and ask the company you hire how they would do things differently if you need to exercise the warranty. read more

on 7/30/2025 we signed a contract with Center for Sustainable Energy. This company's rep advised us that there were rebates available for solar and batteries. The system was installed. The agreement states that we will receive a rebate in the amount of $26,146.80. The total cost was$38,000.00. It has been months since completion and we cannot speak with anyone at Semper who can explain why the delays. Their answer is always need more time to correct mistakes on the paperwork. We have tried to reach Michelle Cuomo and Swetha, no response. Every time we call no one answers. Has anyone else had this experience with the Sustainable Energy Rebate program? This is regarding their service department. I had an issue with my solar not producing so I contacted my installer Semper Solaris. Because they understand how valuable it is to have solar on the property, I expected a quicker turnaround to get the issue resolved. Unfortunately, it took more than 2 months from the time I reported the issue to the part being replaced. When I reported the issue, I had to schedule a phone call with a representative who then saw the system wasn't producing. After that I had to wait for another call to schedule a virtual phone call where I basically just reset the system. Then I had to wait for another call to schedule an in-person visit who then diagnosed the issue in 5 minutes and ordered the part. Then I had to wait for the service team to tell me the part is in stock and then I can schedule the installation. It was also very difficult to reach out to the individual who handles the in-person and installation team. On a positive side, the tech team is great and knowledgable. They're able to diagnose the problem and install the new parts quickly and cleanly. read more

Please don't use this company. I Called and explained my issue with backup battery system including my specific model and make. I was told that they could fix this specific model. After paying a $300 solar health checkup I was informed they can't fix the equipment I own and suggested replacing my equipment. Please do not tell customers you can fix their equipment if you can't. Now several weeks later going back and forth with different customer service personnel I was told they will not refund my $300.00 Terrible way to run a company, just use someone else. read more

We have had a Semper solar system for 10 years. Of course we are just outside our 10 year warranty and our system completely stopped producing. A red fault light is lit up on the inverter. Have called customer service multiple times to get someone to help us fix it and sent the email they ask for to initiate service. No one has called us back to schedule a tech. Our solar is not producing anything and it is our normal peak month of production and peak month of electric use. Semper is worthless! I have read so many similar issues from so many others here. They sure are quick to come out for a sale though that is for sure! I will change this review if they actually contact us and come out but after reading others' experiences i don't expect anyone to call us for weeks if at all to help us fix our system. read more

We had an amazing experience with our solar system but our AC units have been a completely different experience. The techs are always on time and very courteous. However, over the 5 years we have had the new units installed, we have had the techs here so many times, I'll be adding them to our Christmas card list. Janice Lee was the Service Project Coordinator for a warranty claim issue I had for our roof. Semper Solaris installed solar panels years ago and it was determined that there was a small leak from an area where the panels were screwed into. This is going to happen from time to time I'm guessing even if the install is perfect. My claim process was very smooth. Janice was very helpful and accommodating. Bought in 2015 now 11 yrs later (after initial 10 yr warranty runs out & 25yr extended warranty kicks in) we have more than struggled to get assistance. Not generating solar this electric bill is up. Took 3 wks & numerous unanswered calls to get some to check system. Now waiting another week with no return calls to find out when it will be fixed. 1 month & still not fixed and horrible customer service for returning calls let alone even answering the phones. read more

What started as a "straightforward" solar install turned into a colossal, multi-agency obstacle course, and the only reason this project crossed the finish line is because of Jon's leadership and Semper's depth as a company. First challenge: SDG&E. We ran into delays with little to no communication, and it took real effort just to get clarity on what the issue even was. Once we finally got answers, we learned the real problem: our neighborhood already had too much solar. Highly recommended! Our system was running in less than 30 days from our first meeting! I called five companies for quotes and I was most impressed with Semper Solaris's initial contact team. They answered my call and followed through immediately. It only got better from there. Paul, our sales rep, came to our home and took the time to really understand what we wanted. He was able to thoroughly explain the system he recommended and show how it was the best fit for us. We received another quote, but it didn't feel like the right set up for our needs. Also, that company had a lot of negative reviews regarding delayed installations, etc. Paul's quote was about the same price, but seemed more fined tuned to using our existing system. The overall positive reviews for Semper Solaris helped make our decision to go with them. Paul helped us move through the steps between contracting and installation at lightning speed. We were motivated to get the system up quickly to take advantage of longer summer days and have the extra solar power for using AC. They came out quickly to do the initial inspection required to complete the project workorder, then gave me all the support documentation for HOA approval. After I returned the HOA approval, they handled city permits very efficiently. Throughout this time they sent emails updating me on each step of the process. Both teams who came to the house were courteous and focused on getting the job done to my satisfaction. They took the time to explain things to me and met our requests for how to place the equipment and run the conduits from the roof. We finally had a solar panel array installed after years of 'thinking about it'. We contacted Semper Solaris and Matt Kazan came to our house and walked us through the process. After reviewing our electric bills and our roof's layout they came back with a detailed system design and costs and all the documentation we needed to present to our HOA for approval. I had solar installed by this company a number of years ago. They had the Sun Power panels I was looking for so I decided to use them not knowing about their work ethics. A bit over priced and when they were working on my tile roof they broke a number of tiles which is to be expected. I figured they would replace them but all they tried to do is glue them together and it looked like a mosaic tile feature. I called them on it and they came back and replaced them with my spare tile I had in the yard for my own repairs down the line not even asking if they could use they. I figured they would bring their own supplies not scavenge from my supply. Also I noticed they didn't seal the roof jack properly where the electrical conduit came through also. It's like I had to continuously check their work and instruct them on how to do it properly. The most recent complaint is I have a broken panel that needs replacing and I called and emailed them about trying to figure what model panels I had and to buy a new one. And they don't even respond and get back with me. Just be careful. I guess they only respond if you're spending thousands. read more

We recently moved into a new home and were referred to Semper Solaris by my father-in-law and brother-in-law who both had great experiences with them. Upon reaching out on a Friday, Mark quickly texted back, and made himself available within the next fifteen minutes to hop on the phone and talk about adding solar to the roof. After answering all of my questions, Mark further made himself available to come by the house the next day, despite it being a Saturday. On Saturday, Mark came by the house and sat with my wife and me for about an hour and explained all of our options and his recommendations, as well as the reasoning and the pros and considerations for each of them. Before leaving, Mark put together and sent me quotes for each of the options discussed and offered to reconnect to answer any questions that we might have. For both options, Mark recommended what made sense for our circumstances (for both today and looking at the horizon), instead of trying to sell more than we wanted or needed. Very competitive pricing and excellent service when I had issues with the inverter several years after installation.

Unfortunately, this has been a very frustrating experience. Our solar system has not been producing since April, likely due to a panel or equipment malfunction. I first contacted the company about this on November 20 and have made multiple follow-up calls since then requesting service. Despite months of outreach, no representative or technician has come out to inspect or repair the system, and there has been no meaningful resolution. We are continuing to pay for a system that is not working. I would strongly caution anyone considering this company to ask detailed questions about post-installation support and service responsiveness, as that has been extremely disappointing in our case. read more
