Semper Solaris was a fantastic partner to work with for my new roof and solar project. Paul was a great first impression of what Semper was all about! He was super professional and was very detailed oriented. I loved our first meeting where he presented our options and made everything very easy to understand. He was always quick to respond to any and all questions I had through out the entire process. Christian our roof lead and Cynthia our solar lead were also fantastic. Christian was great to work with when there were a few minor issues that he quickly resolved. Really felt like we received the white glove treatment end to end. Everything was so smooth from the initial consult to getting the permission to operate from SDGE. Highly recommend! read more

Adding one star because Semper Solaris did actually reach out, though there's still a lot to be desired from them in communicating with their customers. They have kept me in the dark, completely uniformed as to what is going on for WEEKS! Hoping to be able to add more stars soon. I'd like to give five stars but cannot at this point give any. Part of our project is complete, part is not, and we seem to be on permanent hold i.e. my calls are not returned. For several weeks now! What was completed was DONE WELL, but the original plan, put together by Phil Valverde, to put all three buildings on our land on solar power was revised, WITHOUT OUR BEING INFORMED, and I am still waiting to hear if the third building is going to be included. Otherwise the whole operation is pointless, as it's our main dwelling. Phil is very charming, but we didn't elect to hire Semper Solaris because they have charming sales people. Very frustrated and annoyed. Is the promotional material about Semper being VET owned and operated supposed to imply efficiency. At this point I'm not feeling that efficiency, reliability, or delivering what was promised are part of their values. read more

Semper Solaris gave me a quote for a cash‑owned solar + battery system: 14.85 kW DC solar with 40.5 kWh batteries for $90,940.01, minus a $27,282.03 prepaid discount, a $2,500 promotion, and a $10,000 SDCP rebate, bringing the total to $51,158. Everything was presented as a straight cash purchase -- no lease, no third‑party ownership. But when the contract arrived, they quietly added a 6‑year "participation lease" stating that another company would own my system for six years in order for me to receive the $27k discount. This was never disclosed during the sales process and completely contradicts the cash‑purchase quote they used to sell me. Changing the deal at the contract stage is misleading and deceptive. If you're considering Semper Solaris, read every line -- the numbers they pitch upfront may not be the deal they actually send you. read more

Thank you Semper Solaris for continuing to take care of us. We own the solar panels. We've been with Semper Solaris for about five years, and they've been great from the initial installation all the way through today. They installed our air conditioning system, and we used to have separate units before. Now, with our AC and a hybrid car, our electric costs have been way down compared to before. Recently, our HVAC system needed to be checked, and the team responded quickly, diagnosed the issue, and got everything working again. It's reassuring to know that they continue to stand behind their work years after the installation. Professional, knowledgeable, and dependable service every step of the way. Everyone I have come in contact with through this company holds the same values. As a veteran myself, I also look to support veteran-owned businesses like Semper Solaris and would definitely recommend Semper Solaris to anyone looking for a company that takes care of its customers long after the job is done. read more

We had the best experience with Paul at Semper Solaris. He was very knowledgeable with the systems and answered all our questions during our consultation. During our solar process Paul was very hands on with the details and on top of the whole process. He kept in touch very often and answered our questions immediately! Everyone that we talked to through the process was amazing! Definitely recommend Semper Solaris if you're looking into solar! read more

Semper Solaris just recently completed a total replacement of the roof on my house and once again I am a very satisfied customer. Semper had also installed a solar & battery system for us some time ago. This is the third time dealing with this company and I do not hesitate to continue using their service ( I need air conditioning). To a large degree my satisfaction centers around the personal relationship established with Paul Rapiili who was my go to POC from start to finish in both roofing and solar projects. Extremely responsive and fully on top of scheduling and status of work. The personal attention I received from Paul was the incentive for me to recommend Semper to my neighbors who are now in the process of having work done by them as well. Good company -good people - and excellent results! read more

I had an older system that was installed by Semper (no longer covered by warranty). I started having problems with the large inverter. Semper came out and checked the inverter, but it's was not functioning properly. I decided to have a Tesla inverter installed in my system. The installation went well. Unfortunately the system started acting sporadically after several weeks. Paul Rampoldi was an important contact that helped me get the system working. He is a knowledgeable source that I eventually used to purchase a Tesla power wall for that same system. He's been helpful in putting me in contact with people that can solve technical problems. I'm currently working with him to get a burned out solar panel replaced on that original system. I value Paul as a helpful asset.. read more

I've received 6 quotes and Semper was the highest. Plus they didn't seem to really have any good ideas for some of the challenges of our 125 year old house. They weren't even familiar with some of the equipment options from AC Pro (which they sell) which actually may have been a creative solution. There were no calculations of room sizes or discussion of BTUs needed. Just a quick--and very high--quote and lots of "I'm not sure how to tackle this" dialogue. I'm going with a company that specializes in mini-splits and has knowledgable and creative solutions... and better prices. read more

Going through a Powerwall 2 warranty replacement and Semper will not replace the units, they say: "we are not participating in this warranty replacement program at this time, Tesla will install the units". Like somehow their participation is optional from a customers perspective. Even though they sold me the units and installed them on my home and they represented this manufacturer and its products to me. Now I literally have to go to the company that came in second place for the install who immediately responded with a "yes Sir, we will be out there asap once we receive the equipment to replace your batteries". If Semper Solaris stands for "Always Faithful" and this is their stance on backing up customers, and representing their manufacturers, it is clear that their definition of Faithful revolves around their own financial outcomes and not their once committed customers. read more

on 7/30/2025 we signed a contract with Center for Sustainable Energy. This company's rep advised us that there were rebates available for solar and batteries. The system was installed. The agreement states that we will receive a rebate in the amount of $26,146.80. The total cost was$38,000.00. It has been months since completion and we cannot speak with anyone at Semper who can explain why the delays. Their answer is always need more time to correct mistakes on the paperwork. We have tried to reach Michelle Cuomo and Swetha, no response. Every time we call no one answers. Has anyone else had this experience with the Sustainable Energy Rebate program? This is regarding their service department. I had an issue with my solar not producing so I contacted my installer Semper Solaris. Because they understand how valuable it is to have solar on the property, I expected a quicker turnaround to get the issue resolved. Unfortunately, it took more than 2 months from the time I reported the issue to the part being replaced. When I reported the issue, I had to schedule a phone call with a representative who then saw the system wasn't producing. After that I had to wait for another call to schedule a virtual phone call where I basically just reset the system. Then I had to wait for another call to schedule an in-person visit who then diagnosed the issue in 5 minutes and ordered the part. Then I had to wait for the service team to tell me the part is in stock and then I can schedule the installation. It was also very difficult to reach out to the individual who handles the in-person and installation team. On a positive side, the tech team is great and knowledgable. They're able to diagnose the problem and install the new parts quickly and cleanly. read more

After 9 months of our solar and powerwall system working fine it suddenly failed to generate power and load up the powerwalls (pw 3). This is the beginning of summer and now we need to pay our utility extra to power our home. When we bought the system, we were impressed with the sales personnel responding to our text and email so quickly. They also had good reviews. At the time we were new to buying a solar energy system, so we were nervous about choosing the right company. We also wanted to take advantage of the federal credit, so weren't as diligent as we normally would be. Three weeks ago, our system stopped working. We called customer service and filed a request for service. I received an email saying that they would look into the problem and get back to us in 24 hours. Another red flag is that a ticket number was never offered and didn't know it existed. Later on, I learned this was needed for tracking. A day passed and all we heard were crickets. I responded to the email after 24 hours. Crickets. In fact, looking at all email conversations with customer service, not once did they respond to my requests for status. When I called two days later. They said they would submit it to the project team. We are starting over? Again, 24 hours of crickets. I called again and finally got connected with someone that looked into the problem only to be told that I needed to turn on Service Mode on the app so they could monitor the system. Ok, I probably could have known that, but seriously they could have reminded me of this almost a week earlier on the first call. Another 24 hours passed, more crickets. I then recruited my wife to help with this problem, and we made another phone call. She asked for a supervisor, and we were promised one would call us the next day, but you know what, we got crickets. After 48 hours after my wife's call the system was operating. We have no clue who or how it was fixed. An email requesting information about the cause and resolution was only answered by crickets. The system worked for 6 days then failed. Again, I tried calling customer service. Same response as the first call, an email and crickets. Standard form emails, "It was a pleasure speaking with you today..." or "I am very pleased I was able to assist you...". It's not service it's a system for delaying service. So basically, it turns out customer service is actually an answering service. I found out there was no way to directly contact the company. When we asked for a supervisor, we got an answering service supervisor. If we knew how poor customer service was and how difficult it was for Semper to honor the warranty commitments, we would have chosen another company. The latest is that they determined an onsite visit was needed, not just virtual monitoring. Via email they sent a response that they couldn't reach my wife. My wife didn't catch the call but instead got the voice message "Press 1 for this... Press 2 for this ... " . Of course, this is the second time this has happened to us. Rather than try multiple times to call us and make contact the issue resolution stops with an email from them and no response to our email, as well as, us calling customer service and continuing the run around. Again more emails and customer service interaction. Finally, the latest is we received a call from an account manager at Semper. She took down some information and said she would call back with an appointment date and time for the onsite visit. She did say she would try to make an appointment sooner. She called back within 5 minutes with a date and time. After a month we finally will get someone onsite. And who knows how much longer it is if replacement parts must be ordered and installed. To get to this point it took a lot of assertive discussions about lawsuits. Lesson about our journey with solar: 1) Before you sign the contract make sure you have all the contact information of the owner (email, phone, cell) or an actual supervisor you can escalate an issue when customer service fails you. 2) Get at least three quotes. 3) Do your homework. It's very hard to compare systems because each will offer a different product. What's most important is maximum kwH of solar power it can generate (perfect conditions) and the kwH battery capacity. 4) Fight for 1.5 capacity for panels and battery. This permission must be requested from the utility company (EV will completely drain your home battery, especially if you have more than one). Afterwards upgrades are less cost effective. 5) re-read this review and ask the company you hire how they would do things differently if you need to exercise the warranty. read more

Please don't use this company. I Called and explained my issue with backup battery system including my specific model and make. I was told that they could fix this specific model. After paying a $300 solar health checkup I was informed they can't fix the equipment I own and suggested replacing my equipment. Please do not tell customers you can fix their equipment if you can't. Semper Solaris is amazing! Rhami helped me with every single stepfrom beginning to end, and answered every single one of my phone calls and text messages within a few minutes. They made the Financial piece a total breeze. They helped me with a super low rate financing company and got me a massive rebate on my batteries. Their workmanship is top-notch too. Super clean install professionally done in a single day. They even found a couple faulty wires from a previous project and removed those for me. Just the best. We had an amazing experience with our solar system but our AC units have been a completely different experience. The techs are always on time and very courteous. We have had a Semper solar system for 10 years. Of course we are just outside our 10 year warranty and our system completely stopped producing. A red fault light is lit up on the inverter. Have called customer service multiple times to get someone to help us fix it and sent the email they ask for to initiate service. No one has called us back to schedule a tech. Our solar is not producing anything and it is our normal peak month of production and peak month of electric use. Semper is worthless! I have read so many similar issues from so many others here. They sure are quick to come out for a sale though that is for sure! I will change this review if they actually contact us and come out but after reading others' experiences i don't expect anyone to call us for weeks if at all to help us fix our system. read more

If you're even thinking about going solar in San Diego, stop scrolling and call Semper Solaris -- and specifically ask for Jonathan Kibler. What started as a "straightforward" solar install turned into a colossal, multi-agency obstacle course, and the only reason this project crossed the finish line is because of Jon's leadership and Semper's depth as a company. First challenge: SDG&E. We ran into delays with little to no communication, and it took real effort just to get clarity on what the issue even was. Once we finally got answers, we learned the real problem: our neighborhood already had too much solar. SDG&E claimed the existing transformer and service drop couldn't handle the additional load and initially wanted us to pay to replace both. For most homeowners, that would be the end of the project. Jon and the Semper team didn't accept that outcome. They pushed, escalated, coordinated, and ultimately overcame an issue that would have stopped many other installers cold. This wasn't just technical work -- it was advocacy. Second challenge: the City permitting process. The building department held our permits because our home was incorrectly flagged as a historical property (it isn't). Again, another moment where this could have easily stalled or fallen apart. Jon stayed on it, worked through the city's process, provided the necessary documentation, and kept everything moving while keeping us fully informed. Through all of this, Semper also: Helped structure financing so we weren't forced into bad decisions Coordinated a roof install alongside the solar project without missing a beat Hustled to work us into the schedule so we still had a shot at the federal tax credit Communicated clearly and consistently during what became a very stressful process What impressed me most is that Jon never treated this like "just another job." He owned it. He communicated. He stayed accountable. When this project ballooned from simple to insanely complex, he stayed steady and focused on the outcome. Solar is easy when nothing goes wrong. Semper Solaris proves their value when everything goes wrong -- and they still deliver. Five stars isn't enough. If you want a company that will stand with you when the system works against you, Semper Solaris -- and Jonathan Kibler -- are it. read more

You can tell he genuinely cares about helping people make the right decisions, not just closing a deal. His response time is incredible -- emails, calls, texts, you name it, he's right there with clear answers and helpful guidance. I never once felt lost or in the dark about anything. Mark's professionalism mixed with his friendly personality makes him one of those rare reps you actually look forward to working with. When it came time for the actual work, Semper Solaris delivered exactly what they promised. The crews arrived on time, communicated clearly throughout the process, and finished within the estimated timeline. Truly, at times it felt like they were ahead of schedule. Highly recommended! Our system was running in less than 30 days from our first meeting! I called five companies for quotes and I was most impressed with Semper Solaris's initial contact team. They answered my call and followed through immediately. It only got better from there. Paul, our sales rep, came to our home and took the time to really understand what we wanted. He was able to thoroughly explain the system he recommended and show how it was the best fit for us. We received another quote, but it didn't feel like the right set up for our needs. Also, that company had a lot of negative reviews regarding delayed installations, etc. Paul's quote was about the same price, but seemed more fined tuned to using our existing system. The overall positive reviews for Semper Solaris helped make our decision to go with them. Paul helped us move through the steps between contracting and installation at lightning speed. We were motivated to get the system up quickly to take advantage of longer summer days and have the extra solar power for using AC. They came out quickly to do the initial inspection required to complete the project workorder, then gave me all the support documentation for HOA approval. After I returned the HOA approval, they handled city permits very efficiently. Throughout this time they sent emails updating me on each step of the process. Both teams who came to the house were courteous and focused on getting the job done to my satisfaction. They took the time to explain things to me and met our requests for how to place the equipment and run the conduits from the roof. Mark, our rep during the installation phase, kept in contact and answered questions. Overall, this is a fast and efficient team with great customer service. read more

I had solar installed by this company a number of years ago. They had the Sun Power panels I was looking for so I decided to use them not knowing about their work ethics. A bit over priced and when they were working on my tile roof they broke a number of tiles which is to be expected. I figured they would replace them but all they tried to do is glue them together and it looked like a mosaic tile feature. I called them on it and they came back and replaced them with my spare tile I had in the yard for my own repairs down the line not even asking if they could use they. I figured they would bring their own supplies not scavenge from my supply. Also I noticed they didn't seal the roof jack properly where the electrical conduit came through also. It's like I had to continuously check their work and instruct them on how to do it properly. The most recent complaint is I have a broken panel that needs replacing and I called and emailed them about trying to figure what model panels I had and to buy a new one. And they don't even respond and get back with me. Just be careful. I guess they only respond if you're spending thousands. read more

We recently moved into a new home and were referred to Semper Solaris by my father-in-law and brother-in-law who both had great experiences with them. Upon reaching out on a Friday, Mark quickly texted back, and made himself available within the next fifteen minutes to hop on the phone and talk about adding solar to the roof. After answering all of my questions, Mark further made himself available to come by the house the next day, despite it being a Saturday. On Saturday, Mark came by the house and sat with my wife and me for about an hour and explained all of our options and his recommendations, as well as the reasoning and the pros and considerations for each of them. Before leaving, Mark put together and sent me quotes for each of the options discussed and offered to reconnect to answer any questions that we might have. For both options, Mark recommended what made sense for our circumstances (for both today and looking at the horizon), instead of trying to sell more than we wanted or needed. Later that day, Mark sent a nice follow-up thank you text message and offered again to answer any questions. I had a few and asked if I could call him with them, and didn't even have to, as he quickly called me instead. During that call, Mark was able to answer all of my questions, and promised to quickly turn around updated quotes. Shortly after, updated versions of both quotes were in my inbox ready for our final review and signature. We signed later that night and are super excited for our system to be scheduled and installed. Thanks again to Mark for being so great to work with! read more
