After two years of looking at vendors, I found SHS - a solar / battery storage installer I really like and trust. Look in the photos for the 1st electric bill after the installation. I had to underline May - there's no bar above that month because the house hasn't used any electricity from the grid since the day SHS switched on the system. Today, it was 90 degrees here in Escondido, CA. The AC was free all day and night, and I can set that thermostat anywhere I want! SHS was the 4th company to come out to the house and the only one that had the equipment brands I had heard about and that could move things along at a decent pace. They are a full-service energy company, not just solar and batteries. The company is veteran owned. When Blake first came to the house, I thanked him for his service. Blake, Nate, and Ralphy are incredible! They installed one 14kwh battery (See photo). Glad I didn't have to lift it! The whole system can go outside too. It was going to be too close to my trash cans so I asked for it to be inside. My home was built in 1993, and you wouldn't believe what a mess Ralphy had to sort out in the Challenger service panel (circuit breaker box). What a rat's nest. Now it's clean and tidy with all new breakers. They helped me avoid installing those "Solar Ready" panels for $4100. I had my heart set on EG4 electronics inverters and batteries. SHS knows that product like the back of their hands. The equipment is hardened against EMPs. I hope never to test that! But it feels good to have. And during power outages, my family will be comfortable with lights, intranet, and AC (until it "load sheds" at 50% battery remaining). Very positive experience with this solar and battery project vendor. One tip for homeowners considering solar: there are many "brokers" who act as intermediaries between you and the actual provider. This is not one of them -- they handle both project planning and execution. My recommendation is to avoid brokers - they tend to know less and have less control over the outcome (and generally quote higher prices). Great crew, clean install. It's been about eight months since the work was completed, and I'm very happy with the results. Power was recently cut from 9 PM to 9 AM, and my battery backup handled it beautifully. I worked with Blake on getting a new roof and solar. He spent a lot of time with me over the phone talking about the process and cost/benefit of different things. Blake was prompt in responding to my questions. The cost of the solar was one of the lowest quotes I got for purchase . They did all the permits and paper work for me without issue. One big perk with working with Blake is he is able to get you the federal tax credit up front. You don't need to front the money and get it back as a tax credit (you need to owe taxes). The reroof and solar installation started on a Monday and finished the next Monday. They get things done fast. The system was up and running that Monday. We got approval to export to the grid on Thursday. This was a lot faster than I expected and a lot smoother than the stories I've read about solar installations online. Speaking with someone else in SD that recently got solar. It seems my system has more value and has less hiccups. I would recommend Blake and his team. First of all, Blake didn't try to oversell and his price was about 20% less than the other veteran-owned company, even though the other company was going to use my old inverter. I wanted to add about 50% more capacity plus a battery to my existing solar system without jeopardizing my NEW 1.0 status, and they did more than that! I'm getting about 60% more power than before and the battery is amazing. I had decided to replace my shingle roof and SHS removed my old solar panels in one day just before the roofers came. The week after the roofers were done, they showed up and in two days they reinstalled the old panels, installed new panels, new inverter and battery. They completed everything in two days before the sun had set! My neighbor waited months for his solar installation. They also did an amazing job squeezing the six new panels on a corner of the roof where there is no shading. I used SHS a few years back to hang some TV'S and run some wiring. They did a great job so I called them to add some extra solar panels to my existing installation. The reason was that my bill was slowly creeping up again and we recently traded our gas-powered car for a Tesla. Not only did they add a few panels at a reasonable cost, they suggested a battery backup which would allow me to reduce my power bill to almost zero. All I did was send shs power to my electric bill and they figured out it will take 4 years for me to recover my investment in full. The best was when they had a shipping delay and it took a few extra weeks to get the batteries delivered, they apologized and threw in a car charger install for free. Rainer and his team continue to remain at the top of their game. First used their services over three years ago when I initially relocated San Diego. They installed my DIRECTV. This was done very carefully and neatly. There is no difference in cost between using them versus DIRECTV own installers. ( really foolish not to use them). This is one of the best decisions I've made. Since the original install, they regularly check in to make sure everything is working well and in order. They are easily reachable and quickly responsive. For the third year in a row I used their services to advocate getting my monthly bill lowered. They continue to be successful with this. This year they saved me over $1400. This is significant money that I would've just either had to cancel service and have the inconvenience of getting a new Provider or just deal with paying extra money. After spending another hour on the phone with TW and not getting anything accomplished I finally decided to switch to Satellite. After reading some of the posts on this board I decided to look for a local dealer near me on the Directv website. I found a company in Poway, Synchronized Home Solutions and gave them a call. They came to my home went over everything, gave me some options on where the satellite could be mounted and I decided to go with them. I was worried about the satellite being visible from the street or by backyard but the SHS guys tucked it away in a corner behind some bushes where it cant be seen. They kept in touch and helped us over the phone a few time with and equipment issue and some billing questions. Recently went to Costco to buy a new 4k TV and started chatting with the Directv guy there about the service. He informed me that Directv was the only cable provider currently that offered 4k channels and after doing the math he gave me a quote for tv and Internet that saved me about $100 over my current cox bundle. The first tech that showed up had literally no clue, he seemed he just got out of high school and after about an hour another tech showed up. I did not want the mount o the side of our house so the only place they said it could be mounted was the chimney. I reluctantly agreed and went inside for conference call that took about 90 minutes. When I went back out to check on the install they had place the dish on the outside of my chimney at the most visible place hanging over my patio. Not only did it looked like they tried another spot first and changed their minds but left the base for that mount stuck in the side of my chimney, see before picture. At this point I was so frustrated they had been here for almost 5 hours now that I gave up. They said that they were not able to hide the dish on the back of my chimney and could not run the lines on the inside of my attic but had to run them on the outside of my house. White lines wrapped around my house horrible dish installation maximum visibility. I called customer service but they said they would not come out and fix it.So I went online and found Synchronized home solutions on here with great reviews. They came out switched me to wireless receivers so no wires needed moved the dish from the front of the chimney out of sight to the back and removed the extra foot the Directv installers had left. Rainer, the owner, gave me his personal cell phone number in case I had any issues or questions in the future. If I had only known that there is a local Directv dealer like this I would have gotten my service through them and avoided the stress and the extra money I paid them to fix what Directv had messed up originally. After extremely high winds in Ramona, I was losing signal on several HD channels. Since I don't have the DirecTV Protection Plan, I did not want to deal with DirecTV tech support and have to go through many diagnostic steps before a service call was initiated for which I would have to pay $49.95. The problem was obviously that the dish got out of alignment. I contacted my original installer who said that he is usually not in Ramona. I then called Synchronized Home Solutions on Monday 3/13/2017, but Rainer Zach (the owner) said that his minimum charge was $95 because of sending a tech all the way to Ramona. I then told him that it would only be $49.95 through DirecTV and we left it that if he had a service call in my area, he would only charge me $50; he would call me the next day with his service schedule. I thought I would never hear from him again as I knew this was not a money maker for Rainer. To my surprise Rainer called me a couple of days later after he said he would and right away apologized for not getting back to me sooner. Who apologizes for not getting back to a customer nowadays? I was floored. Rainer said that Pete would come over and re-align my dish on Saturday 3/18/2017 morning. To my surprise it was Dominic, Rainer's business partner, who showed up. Dominic was extremely pleasant, friendly and made sure all my HD channels were working with a strong signal before he left. He even showed me the very strong signal numbers through the DirecTV on-screen diagnostics on my TV. It was so much easier dealing with Rainer and Dominic than DirecTV. Direct tv apparently doesn't pick up their dishes after you cancel the service, so I found this highly rayed local direct tv dealer Rainer Zach Synchronized Home Solutions on yelp who took down the dish , deposed of it, eliminated all cables in and out and closed the hole that was drilled to get the cable i side. I ordered Directv through their 800 number and was sorely disappointed. The installer seemed like he was right out of tech school and seemed like he wasn't comfortable doing the install because we had the older type wiring and I wanted the Dish put on the back of the house instead of right by the front door. He flat out declined to do the job and recommended to look for a local retailer. We found one close by in Poway, Synchronized Home Solutions and talk about accommodating! They came out for a consultation, we discussed the wiring and they said it was not an issue and they would run new lines free of charge. We also agreed on a inconspicuous placed in the back of the garage for the dish to be placed which is not visible from the street or our backyard. Their customer service is some of the best I've ever experienced and they came out free of charge after the installation to bring us a new remote after our dog got a hold it and chewed it up. As for DirecTV itself, it's the best TV service I've experienced. The guide is user-friendly, it has all my channels, and the quality is amazing. On top of that I am saving $40 a month over TWC. They also recommended us to stay with TWC for the internet and phone and said any issues we have would be resolved after the TV was removed and would free up bandwidth. Been with Time Warner for about 4 years but finally fed up of old clunky malfunctioning equipment. When Zach came to my house he looked at the wiring, gave me 3 options where the dish could be mounted and went over Directvs capabilities and gave me the pricing for year on and 2. I travel a lot for work so the fact that I can watch Ditectv and even my recorded shows from the DVR on the road when I am sitting at an airport terminal is the icing on the cake. He did not charge me a penny and said that Directv was paying him , how neat. I was a bit worried about how the dish would look on my roof, mu neighbors directv sticks out a few fee and is pretty visible. The way the SHS tech installed it the dish is as low to the roof as possible and not visible at all from the front of my house. They also accommodated my request that no cable would be visible and ran the wire through a vent into my attic.
