Uriel came out and determined it was a bad sensor in the outdoor unit and to replace that would be 1/10 the cost quoted by the other company. Uriel found that the wire to the sensor had been chewed through, likely by a rat. The A/C is now functioning correctly and I'm very happy with the team at West Coast Heating Cooling and Solar.

Juan handled the skylight and related roof and flashing repairs, and I can't say enough about the quality of his work. He is a perfectionist and took the time to make sure everything was done correctly. He went above and beyond and fixed both the skylight and surrounding roof area beyond my expectations. Adding on after Sunline Energy's response: I did not mention the following yet it is important to do so, in 2024 3 roofing companies told me that the roof was past due on repair, I had mentioned what happened with Sunline Energy in 2023 and was told that your company as well as others install on roofs that are not healthy enough and even with replacement of shingles the plywood was not thick enough to support solar panels, in other words, Sunline never mentioned something that was felt just by walking on the roof, ethics should be as important as obtaining a sale because people work hard to keep there home maintained, honesty is the best policy, I understand that the company must achieve sales but situations as so are very disturbing, Sunline Energy continues to owe us $1,000 due to a deposit for a job that never took place.

After getting quotes from five popular companies (both national and local), I got frustrated with the margin that was being charged for the service. I priced-out an equivalent system as if I was going to purchase and install it myself. I then called some solar system suppliers and asked if they could advise on my project or put me in touch with an individual consultant (who I would pay to help design and install the system). I ended up getting put in touch with Erik Sattler of Sattler Solar. He's a German solar consultant who was not only able to source the solar components for *CHEAPER* than what I could have bought them myself (online), he also charged very reasonable rates for doing a full owner-builder assisted install. What this really means is that I got to do a lot of the work, but it was more like I was his assistant and he was the lead. I loved doing it this way because a) I learned so much more about my system than if someone had just installed it all for me and am confident that I could deal with pretty much any future issue that might arise (although everything is warrantied for 20+ years), b) I saved around $15k compared to quotes from the large companies, and c) we got it done in a fast-tracked way that I don't think the larger companies would've been able to do...thereby locking us into NEM 1.0. If you're thinking of going solar and have the time and skills (basic DIY skills will do), I highly recommend this approach because of the tremendous money savings and the ability to get really involved with a system that's going to be with you for decades. I'm sure most people know this, but if you're going to re-roof your home at any point in the near future, it may be cost-effective to do the solar system at the same time. I must say that I am very happy with our system. We've had it for 2.5 years now without a single issue--other than getting a little carried away running the A/C even when we don't really need. to. ;-) Cost wise, the system estimate was 0.041 $/kWh. I'm extremely disappointed with Stellar Solar and the lack of support I've received regarding the warranty on my solar system. Stellar Solar installed my system, including approximately 50 SunPower/Maxeon panels, in 2019. As the professional installer, I reasonably expected them to make sure the system and equipment were properly registered for the manufacturer's warranty--or, at the very least, clearly notify me that I was personally required to complete a separate registration within a specific time period. That apparently did not happen. The system was not registered in advance by Stellar Solar, and I was not adequately informed or assisted with completing the registration. Years later, when I actually need warranty coverage, I'm being told there is a registration problem and I am now having to fight to get the panels covered. This is incredibly frustrating. Customers spend tens of thousands of dollars on solar systems in part because of the long-term equipment warranties. An installer should have procedures in place to ensure its customers don't unknowingly lose warranty protection because of an administrative registration requirement. What has been most disappointing is the lack of meaningful assistance from Stellar Solar in resolving a problem involving a system they sold and installed. I shouldn't be left fighting this battle on my own years later. If you're considering Stellar Solar, I strongly recommend getting written confirmation that every component of your system has been properly registered with the manufacturer and obtaining copies of those registrations before considering the installation complete. Until Stellar Solar steps up and helps resolve this warranty issue, I cannot recommend them.
