They sent Travis out promptly, who is their electrician where he found that the issue was resolved by replacing a faulty 40-amp breaker that was intermittently providing the necessary voltage, even though measurements initially appear correct. While the breaker issue caused real inconvenience and unexpected costs on my end, the owner was responsive and showed willingness to smooth things over to work toward a resolution. I also want to highlight that the panel upgrade and solar/battery installation itself was clean and well done. The workmanship that Eddie, Manny, Christian and Jamie performed had overall met my expectations, and once the issue was identified, Sunline did step in to correct it. No project is perfect, but how a company responds when problems arise matters a lot. In this case, Sunline's owner and Eric was engaged, responsive, and made a sincere effort to make things right. As an engineer, and after witnessing the symptoms and corrective actions firsthand, I believe the breaker issue was likely a manufacturing defect, and it was unfortunate that it occurred during the holidays. That said, based on how Sunline handled the situation, the overall quality of their work, and the value they offer, I would recommend them and plan to continue using them for future needs.

Going into the process, our biggest concerns were making sure the system was properly sized for our actual needs, that the equipment would be reliable, and that we were working with a company we could trust long-term. Stellar did a good job addressing all of those concerns. Communication throughout the process was consistent overall, and the various (many!) teams that came out to the house were professional and clearly experienced. We especially appreciated that they were knowledgeable not just about the equipment itself, but also SDG&E rates, battery strategy, and available rebates/programs. What really surprised us was the speed of the installation. From the first day of roofing to battery installation, panels, inspection, and formal permission to operate, the entire process took only 3.5 weeks. Stellar coordinated multiple internal teams, a roofing subcontractor, and the city seamlessly. The install itself looks clean and the system has been working very well so far (about 3 weeks in). The equipment feels solid and thoughtfully selected rather than oversold. If I had one critique, it would be that communication between some of the internal teams could occasionally have been smoother, but it was never a major issue and things ultimately got handled well. The phone operator told us we would get a call back from one of the techs later on that day. FIVE days went by before we even got a response back, and it was in the form of a text message asking us what problems we were having. If a customer is calling you for help, the last thing you should do is make them wait almost a week to get a response, and then have them explain to you what is wrong over text. Very poor professionalism. STRIKE 1. 2) The tech told us the next available appointment was 1 full week away, so not only did we wait FIVE full days for a text response, but we had to wait another full week for any resolution of service. STRIKE 2 3) The day of our appointment, thankfully, we had the first appointment of the day scheduled as we had a very busy day with other obligations so we were hoping to have everything completed by mid morning. After about 4 hours of the company no-show/no-call/no-text, we decided to call the company to find out the status of our appointment. We got a voicemail instead of someone live, so we left a message. A few hours later we finally got a call back saying someone will show up later that day. And they did finally show up at the very end of the workday. STRIKE 3 This was a very VERY disappointing experience. From poor follow up, poor customer service, and just a poor company all around. For someone like me, my sales/service business relies heavy on customer service. I've provided 1000s of recommendations and referrals of vendors for roofing, plumbing, solar, electrical work and more over the last 20 years, and i can say that I will never recommend this company as their lack of customer service would reflect very poorly on me and my business.
