So, I've been pretty athletic all my life. I played softball for 12+ years and have been pretty active for the past few years since quitting, but definitely needed that extra push to step my game up. I've been training with Chelsea for a few months now and I absolutely love it! I had never had a personal trainer before because I always wrote out my own work outs, but since I've started training with her, I've seen more results in the past few months then I ever did working out alone. She not only listens to you and your goals, but she gets to know you on a personal level so she's extremely easy to talk with, especially if you're struggling to stay on track. this review is for coach nate and it is loooonnngggg overdue. i was in a really bad place, mentally, emotionally and physically. i was on the verge of calling it quits on life and just giving up. i had gone to all types of doctors that continued to tell me there was nothing wrong with me, all my tests read back that im healthy, yet i had no energy, no strength, no motive to be alive. i had always wanted to get into the gym but never did because of my lack of knowledge and motivation. i had contemplated getting a personal trainer because i didn't think it would make much of an impact on my life. i was absolutely 100% wrong. i reached out to coach nate and he welcomed me in right away, wanting to discuss my goals and how he can help. the first day i came in it was just a consultation- just sort of seeing my capabilities- it wasnt even a full session but i was hooked right away and i left that facility with the biggest smile on my face and this overwhelming sense that there is still hope for me. i started in-person training with nate in august 2020. due to personal restrictions, i could only resort to online classes. this was about a year into my training and we both felt i was ready to continue training at my own gym, where nate would still make my workout plan and id be able to reach out with any concerns or advice whenever i needed it. during this time, i injured myself at work, and he helped me train through my injury to help regain strength. in the beginning of 2023, i had to make one of the most difficult decisions in my life and i sadly had to discontinue training with nate because of some personal things i had to take care of. to this day i wish i could start all over again. nate is an amazing coach, who changed my life forever. he saved my life and im not sure he knows it, but there isnt a day that goes by that the knowledge he taught me doesn't help me. if you are considering training and getting a coach, he is a great option, i worked with him for about 2 1/2 years and everyday i got a little stronger, happier and healthier. thank you for everything you did. read more

Josh Cubillo (Crook Training) was reccomended to me after seeing a good friend drop some major weight - quickly. At first I was extremely nervous about the idea of working out with a personal trainer, but I was willing to do the work because of an upcoming vacation. During our intital chat Josh put me at ease and my nerves quickly turned into excitement. We talked about his background and my goals. Fast forward 6 months - my goals have been met and now we're moving onto new challenges! Josh is not only extremely knowledgeable, but super fun to be around. Mike Flores who trains out of Hulk Fit Co. at Self Made Training Facility in Orange is the best trainer I've ever had! He keeps accountable and will "lecture" me if I go off track on my weight loss/healthy journey. He truly cares about you and will tailor your workouts to get results and also help you to not get injured. He isn't the easiest trainer though and the workouts will be hard in order to achieve results. He goes above and beyond for his clients. The facility is clean, and has a variety of workout machines. The only thing I don't like is there are hardly any cardio. machines here. read more

This is a great facility with a wide variety of equipment supporting anyone in all stages of their fitness journey. I highly recommend Stefan Batto as a personal trainer! He really pushed me throughout my training with him, in ways that I didn't even know I could be pushed. I would always leave my work out with him feeling great about myself , and I would always be sore for days after. He really pushes my limits and is very helpful with having the correct posture for each exercise he has me do. I had no experience with machines at the gym before coming here, but after training with him, I'm a lot more knowledgeable about how each machine works and the correct posture to be in when using them, thanks to Stefan. The facility is very well kept and clean and I had an amazing experience with my training here. I have to give 5 stars to this place and it's staff. This gym has a TON of effective equipment for use. Even when there are a good amount of people working out, you can always find machines or equipment to stay busy with. I have been working out with my trainer, Vanessa, for 2 years now and have seen so much muscle definition come in since I started with her. She is super knowledgeable, always available to answer any questions you might have and no matter what your fitness level is, she will make you cry for your mama! I always look forward to my sessions with her because I know that afterward, I will be sore from how hard she pushes me and I'll know my workout was effective. She works with all fitness levels and also offers nutritional guidance and advice. If you're looking for a gym and trainer that has it all, head over and ask for Vanessa. This is not your typical gym, and I do want to point out the success I have had, losing weight over eight months, is a function more of my trainer (MB Fitness) than the facility itself. That being said, without the tools provided by SM Training, it would not have been possible. My first day, my family and I walked in and we were apprehensive. But if there was anyone judging us, it was circumspect and hidden. So using the space, which was clean and fresh, even on those wet days of winter, we all worked. And sweated. And started getting more fit. Over the months, the other trainers would offer smiles of encouragement and, frankly, I feel like it is a place that welcomes us all now. Even if my son is the autistic kid who makes the funny noises when he pushing the sled or lifting the kettle-bells. Train at SMTF with Josh-Crook Training. Overall gym is good. New, clean and always playing upbeat music. Only thing I would suggest is a water source. I'm a newb so was a little Confused by the concept at first but once I figured it out I went on the hunt for a trainer...contacted a few trainers at this facility and was lucky enough to come across Crook Training...so happy I reached out to Josh! He was genuine, scheduling was painless, workouts are always challenging and he keeps me pushing! I see Chelsea Braudo twice a week and it has been the best experience of working with a trainer that I've ever had. She finds a way to encourage you while also pushing you as hard as she can without intimidating you. It's like working out with a friend, and throughout she's constantly checking in to make sure you're not just doing well in fitness but in life too. I can tell that she cares. The Self Made Training Facility is exactly what I was looking for. I have been training with Paul Navarrette for 3 months. I have experienced muscle growth (GAINZ) that I have never seen before, but I knew they were hidden in my body somewhere. I came to Paul because I was very complacent and lazy in being active, so lets just say "he had a lot to work with". Paul is very knowledgable about dieting, training programs, and the proper supplements to consume. My results since training: I've lost 7% Body Fat while gaining 10% in Muscle Mass. You receive a comprehensive "In Body" composition analysis every two weeks to track your progress. Paul has shown me a lot with inconsistencies I had with improper body posture and movements while working out. This is key to insure the muscle you are working is utilized for growth. You will not regret being trained by Paul. He may flex on you strictly for intimidation proposes, but use it as motivation to strive for greatness (I'm kidding here). Look him up on IG (its_mr_paul). The Self Made Training Facility is a top tier gym "Jamil and Shane" run a great establishment at this location. I went from gym to gym, Orangetheory and UFC being my last 2 gyms I tried, trying to find a place that not only made me feel comfortable but challenged me. I have to say this place has topped them both. From the dedicated trainers to the welcoming environment. This place has great equipment and everything I need to get a good workout. Having been to many different types of training facilities over the years, from Boot Camps to CrossFits to Big Box Gyms, I can tell you Self Made Training Facility is very different and unique in its approach. You work with a personal trainer using high quality equipment that is well taken care of. This facility is in top notch condition and provides all the right tools needed for a well rounded workout. Even the music being played is perfect. I would have never known about this place if it wasn't for Vanesa, my (our) personal trainer. I've (we've) worked with Vanesa at other facilities so when she began teaching here it was a no brainer to join her. Her attention to detail in her workouts is evident by looking at her notes she has written out for each session we do with her. She's very knowledgable with how the human body reacts to workouts which is a testament to her studies and her schooling. She's supportive with those who need it but also has no problem mixing it up with myself and those who like to "S" talk. I had never heard of SMTF prior to driving by the new location in Orange. I decided to walk in and check it out as I was looking for something new to try and jump start a fitness routine for this out of shape 45 year old. I was greeted by Paul Navarette, who showed me around and talked to me about the concept, training and where the gym was heading and growing including the technology side of things. Everything is brand new and state of the art. I am blown away by my gains over the last month and half based on the techniques and work outs Paul has given me. I know from past experiences working out solo that I never built muscle in a month and half like I have working out with Paul. I have also brought in my daughter (12) who very much enjoyed working out with Paul too. We are trying make fitness a family affair and this is a great place to do it. read more

I've been training with Michael B. for almost 3 years now, and not only did he correct my form and technique but he worked with whatever injuries I was going through. I've been through small inconveniences like an inflamed IT band to major injuries like a severely ripped calf muscle from an accident. He goes at my pace while still pushing me a little more when I'm not feeling confident. Thanks to him, I'm strong enough to maintain healthy and safe form at my job when lifting and my running endurance has improved by 4 miles. Definitely always recommending him to my friends or people who ask me what my workouts are. As for the facility, I love it! It definitely fits my needs for free weights (squats, deadlifts, benches and dumbells), but the machine choices are a bit more limited compared to other gyms. But it does have a sparring ring which is awesome! Equipment is well maintained and the staff is super friendly. Mornings are busy but afternoons are good and calm. read more

Carlos, is not just a friend but when it comes to take a workout serious he will make it happen. One of the things he won't accept from you is "I can't do this". If you're looking for a great trainer, come to Self Made and go to Nathan! I came to Nathan looking to lose some weight, that I had already tried to lose on my own but wasn't being successful no matter how hard I tried. I had already been looking for trainers in my area but none really stood out to me until I came across Nathan's instagram. One of the main things that stood out to me about Nathan was that he was constantly recording his clients, the workout they were doing, & the correct way to do it, meanwhile he'd be explaining in the background. This motivated me to make a consultation & I ended up signing up without a second thought because in just that short amount of time Nathan made me feel welcome and explained to me so many things I didn't know before. As soon as we started my workouts I noticed changes in my body, that I hadn't seen before. I had much more energy and I felt better as well. Something else that was very important to me was that my back pain and back problems were starting to go away. Nathan explained to me why i had these back pains in the first place, and the reason as to why they had been going away. which again was thanks to him, he was correcting my form and the way I'd bend down to pick up weights, & i started applying those habits to my everyday lifestyle which has me here today (4 months later) with 0 back pain. I would 100% recommended going to Nathan. He invests his time into you, listens to your goals & concerns & helps you achieve them. He's by your side the whole time during your session making sure you are doing it correct and you don't break form to avoid any injuries & in case you have any questions. I would always text him questions as well at random times and he'd answer them right away or as soon as he could, which I really appreciated as well. Besides that he's really funny and caring and will have you laughing through half your workout. Brian Duong has always been my favorite trainer. 4 years ago, I weighed over 400 pounds and fitness had NEVER been something I was good at even as a child. Brian has always been extremely passionate about fitness and helping all his clients reach their goals, gives realistic expectations, and never sugar coats anything which always motivated me more. This facility and the trainers are GREAT! The facility isn't over crowded and the trainers are NOT meatheads that constantly stare at themselves in the mirrors - LOL All of the equipment is new and the overall facility is very clean and well taken care of. I'm a 49 yr old mom and have been training here with Dave and really like it. Jamil (hope I spelled that right) one of the owners is personable and friendly. You get the feeling that all the trainers there are all part of a family. They are friendly and will occasionally joke around with each other (not so much so that it's distracting or takes away from your workout though). I have been to different trainers, and hands down mike is my favorite, not only because of the amazing results but he is a great person. I've been working out with Mike for one month and I'm already down 12lbs. His energy and passion makes me want to get up at 4am to go to my sessions. I'm actually excited to go work out and seeing results gives me more motivation. Meal plans are easy and simple to follow,the best part is he still allows us to live; meaning we can still go out to have occasional dinners and occasional Starbucks. He holds us accountable for our cardio so he can focus on weight training at our sessions. The environment at the gym is welcoming and clean. The music is always going to keep you pumped and ready for your next set. Mike is very honest, flexible and understanding but you have to hold up your end of the weight and actually show up to see results. If your looking for results, Mike is your guy. I came across my trainer Glayol through Instagram: @built_byg not knowing what I was getting myself into as I stocked her feed looking at the inspiring transformations. I didn't know Glayol, but a friend recommended me to give her a try & let me tell you, it has been enlightening to come across a coach who truly cares for your well-being as she trains you. You want to loose weight/tone up etc. but have knee problems, (or other type(s) of injuries/pain/discomfort? Don't worry, Glayol knows what workouts to incorporate (depending your situation) as she helps you reach your goals!! But be patient. Results aren't overnight & you have to put in the work outside of training sessions to get the best results. BUT DONT WORRY! Glayol is there along the way to help you through the journey as she stays in contact with you, giving you tips, guidance, and recommendations every step of the way. If you're overthinking it, DON'T! Been training with ivan (Tap or Ko Training )on and off for over 3 years I was a little over weight I reached out to him I was super intimidated to walk in to a gym but he made it supper easy and comfortable easy going super personable and breaks down the technique of the work out. We switch our cardio from boring treadmill work outs to boxing and kick boxing I've trained at a local gym doing cardio classes but ivan has train with pros nothing like cardio classes I guess if you want to learn how to fight with out really fighting he is the guy to go .
