My rep Scott Howard was incredibly knowledgeable about all aspects of buying and financing a used car. They gave me an appraisal for my car on trade in that was a few hundred less than I needed. However the inventory is staggering! They offer a 30 day money back guarantee on every deal. Who else does this? I was specifically looking for my son who resides in Saint Louis. Scott honed in on two area CarMaxx in the Saint Louis area to find the best cars that suited my specifications. There was never any pressure. The fact they are nationwide is a major draw to me as cars can be reserved and shipped to other locations at no cost or minimal fees of a few hundred. I look forward to doing business with CarMaxx the first time.

For me, every time I have come here has been an amazing, gracious experience. I was sold my car by the dapper C.J. Morris, who is a man that keeps things real. Each time I came in afterward he recognizes me and shakes my hand. Drivers World has a good policy of "price as marked" with no haggling, since their prices are already low. I don't know about that across the board, but my 2010 Hyundai Accent was a great deal. I have had two issue happen with my car since its purchase. The first was when my spare key came in from the Hyundai Mother Ship. We tried it out and it got stuck in the ignition! Samantha, in their service dept., immediately got me a rental and called a locksmith to look at it the next day. My car was fixed up that next day too, the locksmith had to re-cut part of the key. My second issue was when my car suddenly didn't start one day after work. I took a panicked trip in the tow truck to Drivers World where they got me a loaner car that night. They called me in the morning and told me it was the starter. I returned my loaner and they got me a rental; a few days later I picked up my car from Checkered Flag Hyundai. So far, everything has been covered and I always get treated nice there. I had a great buying experience and their awesome service has continued. Hopefully all my visits will be this good.

I waited all day and got a call that they were not going to be able to get to the vehicle. This pretty much wasted my entire day. This morning I got up at 5 AM to be first in line for their 730 opening to get my oil change and filter which I have been doing for the last 13 years. The representative said, "Do you have an 'appointment'?" I said, I've never had an appointment in 13 years for oil change, and filter." She said, "Well, now you need an appointment, but we'll 'try' to fit you in." She said, "I can't guarantee we'll get you in." She also said, "Since you have a recall, we can't do your service unless you have the recall done first." I went to talk to the guy that I have been dealing with for years complaining about this and reminding him that I had an appointment last week that wasn't honored. Even though everyone else I talked to used the term "appointment", he dutifully held the new management line and said, It's not an appointment. It's a "check in time." This is total BS. Everyone on earth knows what an appointment means. It does not mean come on over and maybe we'll get to you and maybe we won't. After 13 years, they have gotten my last dollar.

I took my car in to get its scheduled maintenance that I purchased via my dealership. Nicole pleasantly educates me on some sort of warranty coupons & I was only entitled to four throughout the duration of my warranty? Odd, never heard that before but ok, it should be covered, I did it all via the Hyundai website all through the warranty so I was confused as to why she was charging me for services included in my service package. IE the vehicle alignment. I have an extended warranty that covers the features on my vehicle. Here's where maybe miscommunication may have come into play? She calls to let me know that I have to pay for the dealership to "inspect" the issue, according to her, the company providing my warranty is requiring them to do a diagnostics (almost $200) BUT if the issue is covered I do not have to pay it. Welllllll....Surprise, surprise...it's not covered. I do not know what type of "diagnostics" they did but when I called my extended warranty place I was told my issue was covered, however, it is insurance & I don't think the dealership would NOT want to make money so I don't think they did anything with any erroneous or malicious intent but I am definitely taking it to another dealership for a 2nd opinion. Not only is my steering wheel warmer still broken but I am out well over $200 and then some. From reading the reviews it seems this dealership will take super care of you BEFORE you buy a vehicle but they're not too super caring AFTER you buy a vehicle. I am here to validate that! I will be taking my car to be serviced elsewhere from now on. Everyone is kind & friendly but if these service folks are working off of commission they will DEFINITELY nickel & dime you to make their extra nickel & dimes.

I never felt pressure to buy a vehicle, which was refreshing as car shopping can be exhausting. Stay Away, Stay Away, Stay Away, Stay Away…read more I walked onto their lot in February. I noticed what appeared to be a nice looking Rav4. On the windshield of that vehicle was a brand new inspection sticker. That sticker was seen by me as a Checkered Flag guarantee of the quality of the vehicle and helped induce me to eventually buy the car. I thought I could trust that inspection. Now they do offer a three day trial in which they claim you can return the car. The car I bought needed some touch-up work which they agreed to do. The car was with them for almost two of those three trial days.  The day I did have the car and was driving in a quieter area with the radio off I noticed a grinding noise when the brakes were applied while coming to a stop. It was a repetitive, persistent and irritating noise. You wouldn't realize how many times you use your brakes until you have an issue like this. I contacted the salesman immediately and mentioned this grinding noise. As things were already scheduled for the touch-up work he said we could get the car in on the following Tuesday at the Toyota Checkered Flag Service Center. I didn't think it would be any kind of a major issue so I agreed. I went to the service center as scheduled. Explained the noise issue and proceeded to sit in the appropriately named "waiting room." After two and a half hours the service advisor comes out with a dour look on his face. He ushers me into his office and hesitantly tells me in a roundabout way that they took off the wheels and found that there were rings of rust that went around the front brake rotors. Even showed me pictures. The service advisor assured me that the brakes were still "legal" as the pad and rotor thicknesses were within tolerances. Legal is one thing, working properly without unnecessary noise is another. It's the latter I expected after having spent so much money. We went back and forth on this point. He told me it was a minor issue and should resolve itself after driving for a while. He also told me his hands were tied as he showed me a repair estimate citing "customer satisfaction" for $703 dollars which was declined by the sales manager Lucas Giles at the Outlet. As mentioned, the car had a new sticker on it. So what happened? Why does a car with a brand new inspection sticker have brakes that grind every time the car rolls to a stop? During their pre-sale inspection they must've known the brake rotors were rusty. So they saw the rust, ignored it, and put a pass sticker on the car. If the rotors were not making any strange noises at the time I can understand why they might ignore the rust and try to "get away with it," but if the new buyer has a problem I believe it should be fixed as it was an already known issue to them. I shudder to think what else was conveniently ignored? It is now the beginning of June, over three months and 2000 miles later, the irritating, repetitive noise still persists. It did not go away as promised. I have noticed that there are a lot of "5 star" ratings for this place. I do admit they are polished. They know their jobs well. The salespeople have a professional demeanor. They smile at the  right times and say the right things. They are experts at moving cars off the lot. When everything goes right and you happen to get a vehicle with no apparent problems I have no doubt it feels like a great car buying experience. However, if you do have an issue with a vehicle they just sold you, you can expect a different experience. I thought to myself instead of using their "Where winners buy" motto it should be changed to "Checkered Flag, where the customer comes in second, so we treat you like number two." "Buyer Beware" has never been a more appropriate phrase than when used to describe the Checkered Flag Auto Outlet car buying experience I had. Do not underestimate their ability to ignore that thing called customer satisfaction.  No problems with a nickname for my  Checkered Flag auto. I named it "Rusty," so thanks for that Checkered Flag. And thanks for listening. I hope this has been useful to you. Mike W.
