Well, the haggle has been taken out of car buying. Most prices folks post are their set number, minimal wiggle room. So I upgraded from a 2012 VW with 138k miles to a 2015 Forester with 35k miles & it was relatively painless. The process took longer than hoped, but I'm paying a number monthly that I can live with while having a good deal of security with the coverage they offered. Their Lifetime benefits are best for those planning to stay local, I'm hitting the road soon, but it's an upgrade with a nice lifetime, nationwide, Powertrain Warranty. I'm probably only going to use an oil change or 2, lifetime state inspections I won't even see the next one. I hope to never need the warranty services that they offer, but it's nice to know it's there. Russ & Marcie did a good job of communicating throughout the process, I was happy when it was finished, but it wasn't too arduous. Very clean lounge, lot, waiting area, offices, bathrooms...yup, everything. Marcie offered to "buy" me a free coffee or tea next time I come in for any services. It would've been nice if a beverage had been offered to me while I waited instead of having to wander past a free coffee & tea dispenser on my own. If they can get me in & out when I come in for the first oil change in a timely manner they may just earn that fifth star!

    - [ ] I recently bought a 2008 Honda Accord EX-L V6 coupe from the first team Subaru dealership in Suffolk. Everything seemed to go pretty smooth, car didn't look bad, felt nice during the very short test drive and it was only 6k. The sales lady told me the car was taken care of, and the previous owner was just looking to upgrade. After some consideration, I decided to finance it. The process was pretty smooth, then my loan came out to be 8,100$ on a 6,200$ car. I was upset about that, but me being a first time dealership buyer i just went with it. Literally a week later, on the dot, my back left brake caliper fell off mid drive, almost causing me to crash into the stopped vehicle in front of me, luckily I got it to stop right before. I had to have the car towed back to the dealership to be fixed. This I did NOT pay for but was just a huge inconvenience considering I just bought it. So I go pickup my car the next day and the front lobby people told me that they must have not tightened it down all the way. Well I got back on the road with the car after that. About 2 weeks later I have a very strong burning oil smell, I see where oil is burning off the cat converter, but I couldn't tell where it was leaking. So I took it back to them, the master technician took my car back, ran it through the dye for about 2 hours. He comes back up to the front and tells me he cannot pinpoint the leak right now and that I'd have to drive around a few days and come back, that way the dye has time to be pushed through the engine system. Oh, and I also mentioned the brake caliper to him and asked how that happened, his response was "I think you have enimies out there, I checked it before it left the shop and it was tight". Well I came back in a week. My car sat there for a while before it was even looked at. After about 2 hours again, a tech lady came out and told me that I have "multiple oil leaks" and that it would cost me an estimated "2,600-2,700$" and she said that they could not guarantee that would fix my problem. I never even got to speak with the master tech again. So she immediately sent me up to finance to see what we could do about getting me into another vehicle. Turns out they wanted to buy the car back for 4k$ and leave me with the other 4k$. Whether I had it tacked onto the next car, or I sold and took the $. Either way, 4k$ was left for me to deal with. That's not fair at all, considering the sales team told me that they weren't going to resell the car if I decided to sell it back to them, instead they said it would go straight to auction. Well I told them I couldn't afford anything else right now and that my credit score took a 43 point hit after this car, so I wasn't in the position to be approved for another loan. I am screwed, no choice but to keep the car. A few weeks later I decided to find the oil leak(s) myself. I got down to the valve cover, and it is obliterated. Needs immediate replacing, along with my camshaft seal, crankshaft seal, and valve cover gaskets. I'm extremely upset and will absolutely never shop here again, I will recommend everyone to shop anywhere else but here. I'm stuck with a broken car on a 8k$ loan because of them. Thank you Subaru for screwing me. I don't have a lot of time to be constantly taking my car back to the dealership/shop. This costed me a lot of money, a lot of time and headaches. Please just don't get in the same situation this dealership has put me through. They also did a "battery terminal service cleaning kit" that wasn't clean until I complained that I don't feel safe driving this car because they couldn't do the simple things.

So I ended up calling and they said that they did not even check with the other Kia yet about my warranty, which is ridiculous because it's been there for two weeks. It should've been done. Then they called me a whole other week later and told me that my warranty is good but my car still won't be ready for another two weeks . My service rep was Megean and she was very dismissive and didn't confirm the service request, just said "yep got it". Had an AirPod in her ear the entire time I was at the desk. Waited for nearly 4 hours before my truck was "ready" and I read on the invoice all that had been done was the oil change and tire rotation with an alignment (that I didn't ask for?). Balance service and fluids were not addressed as I specifically requested. Already frustrated, I start driving home and ended up calling back to the service department because I noticed new vibration and shaking from my steering wheel. Megean said I could bring it in the next morning. Next morning I get there, drop it off and explain what services I'm requesting. Megean was there again and seemed to be more receptive. Fast forward 2 hours, I open the link I was sent to check for an update on my vehicle's service and it had incorrect vehicle information. Wrong model, wrong VIN. I decided to go in and when I got there, saw my truck hadn't moved from where I parked it in the 2 hours it had been there. Seriously a huge waste of time that could have been avoided if Megean actually listened to me the first time. I expected more from the "better" rated Chevy dealer in the area, which was the only reason I brought my truck here to begin with.

I dropped it off at 8am and didn't hear anything until almost 3pm, when I received a text with over $1,400 in "recommended" repairs--brakes, rotors, a gear shifter dust cover, and a brake flush. I tried calling my service advisor, Miranda, with no answer, so I went to the dealership myself. When I arrived, she told me my inspection had passed. The moment I declined the recommended work, the story changed and suddenly the truck "failed" because the shifter was "a little stiff." The timing felt extremely suspicious. The part in question is two small plastic trim pieces that cost under $35 total, require no tools, and take about 10 minutes to replace. They wanted $362 for that alone. When I asked where the law listed this as a failure, she told me to look it up myself. I asked her to call the state police for clarification; she said she would, printed something out, then later told me I should call them instead. Throughout the interaction she was dismissive and rude, even making an unprofessional comment about my job in the Navy based on my jacket. She also admitted the $1,400 in recommendations were simply part of her job to "upsell." After all this, my truck still sat another 30 minutes before being returned. When I got home, I discovered the TPMS sensors I provided--complete assemblies with valve stems attached--had been installed without the valve stems. That raised serious concerns about whether the sensors were even installed correctly, or at all. I called service manager Nick the next morning. When I explained my concerns and said the work felt shady, he focused more on being offended by my frustration than addressing the issues. I told him I would be speaking with general management. Later that morning, a Virginia State Police officer returned my call about the inspection. I explained why I believed the failure was improper and showed him photos and the law the dealership cited. He reviewed everything, contacted the dealership, and spoke directly with Nick. About 20 minutes later, the officer called me back and said the dealership had been instructed to pass my vehicle and correct the paperwork. He even gave me his personal number in case I had further issues. It should never take a state police officer to get a correct inspection result. On Feb 26, I had to take additional time off work--losing over $800 in wages--to get the sticker properly applied. When they finally put it on, they left adhesive residue and simply placed the new sticker over it. I also wasn't given the inspection paperwork. They returned my old TPMS sensors and valve stems, but the caps had been removed. Based on everything--the questionable inspection failure, the extreme markup on a simple trim piece, the rude and unprofessional behavior from the service advisor, the defensive service manager, concerns about whether paid work was actually completed, and the fact that state police had to intervene--I strongly caution anyone from bringing their vehicle here. This experience was unacceptable from start to finish.
