This might be why it was completely empty when I went or the time? It felt a bit awkward when we went to sit like they were surprised to see us but I was ready to try the menu. Everything is really really cheap. Their physical menu has their rice dishes cut off for some reason so for those two things just refer to the online menu. I love rice rolls and so I wanted the shrimp one and they said they didn't have it but it was only 3pm... I was like okay dang I'm going to get the fried rice with shrimp. I clearly said twice what I wanted and they gave me a pork and ham rice vermicelli. I think it might have been a language or conversation barrier because there was some confusion throughout ordering. Regardless, it was actually so yummy I would definitely order that again. The meat was perfect and the noodles were thin and delicious. My friend got a lemon tea and even though she got half sugar it was extremely sweet . The scallion pancake was not burnt but it was extremely crunchy. It seems like there are quite a few kinks they need to work on but for a place that was only $20 pp I would go again because the entree dishes themself are really good and I know I will get seated when I'm in that area. $ Food 6 Atmosphere 5 Service 3 Scallion pancake Beef brisket broth with vermicelli Lemon tea Pork and ham rice vermicelli

Highly recommend the fried dough stick (油條）which typically pairs with soy milk but I was a bit disappointed with their soy milk (it was quite watery). Prices are fair and everything was yummy! The steam roll was fabulous that we ordered an extra one to go. Scallion pancake was nice and crispy. The barley lemongrass lemonade was interesting. I wasn't expecting actual barley to be in there but it was. I only drank the liquid as I'm not a fan of mushy textures. Not sure what I was expecting but had I known it would be chunks of barley I probably would've opted for another beverage. The tongue bread is a shape of a tongue, hence the name. It was a dense bread with minimal flavor. Casual ambiance with modern decor. Seating available for dining in and great food. I would definitely recommend this establishment and return when I'm in the area. Street parking only.

I was impressed by the speed with which they accommodated my take out order, and thrilled when I got home with the BEST spicy fish fillet I have had. (Also, well-packaged. The food was beyond salty. It was the kind of salty that even rice could not fix. If I knew I was going to be served that, I would rather have taken a sip out of the ocean for FREE. Despite the salt, my party did not want to waste the food, and so we ate on. I pray for their kidneys. It took me 3 cups of water to finish half of the food. Even still, my body was aching and dehydrated - Shell City might have been a better name for this place. The food left me feeling like Spongebob when he tried to bring back King Neptune's crown. We got fried milk for fun because it's not commonly available at many Cantonese restaurants especially without preordering. It was more of a fun dish to eat. It tasted a bit like coconut pudding lol. The skin was a bit thick but at least it wasn't too oily. Also it was a huge size for the price $13.85. We asked for an off menu soup. We wanted something with tofu and veggies and meat. It wasn't available on the menu but they were able to put an order for it via their ipad. It came out great, comforting and full of natural sweetness. We saw almost every table ordering their lobster deal - two for $30.85. They said how it's the smaller type and they offer larger sizes which are priced by pound. We decided to get the larger ones for the sake of having more meat to eat. When it came out, it was smaller than expected but we didn't say much. Later on, the boss came proactively came up to us telling us that they changed our bill to charge us the deal price because the "large" lobster ran small. Garlic sauteed surf clam was the table favorite. The garlic sauce (note not goopy or watery) was soooo good, full of umami with both fresh and fried garlic. It actually tasted so good we didn't want to finish it so we can take it home for another meal. Clams with black bean sauce was alright. Their black bean sauce isn't exciting, so we might not get it next time. Deep fried ribs with garlic wasn't as good. Maybe they're just better at cooking seafood. The garlic doesn't taste as good as the surf clam one either.

For the price and portion, I highly recommend coming here. Low key, their Bun Mam is probably one of the best around Dorchester. Full of every ingredients that is normally included . A lot of places tend to be missing one ingredient here and there. Service can be a little annoying sometimes depending on who is there. Our last time there, we had a young gentleman that looked like he knew what he was doing. He didn't write down our order and got everything right. But, we did only order 3 dishes. The other table ordered about 6-7 dishes and he didn't write it down and messed it all up. Lol But, this happens a lot when it gets a little too much. This changed drastically w/in 15 minutes, however. as all the tables filled up. The order for this party of 2 consisted of the following: - Szechuan Spicy Rice Noodle / 成都凉粉 - $11.99 - Secret Sauerkraut Live Fish / 秘制酸菜活鱼 - $33.99 - Szechuan Spicy Aromatic Pig Blood Hot Pot / 川西毛血旺 - $24.99 - White Rice / 白飯 x2 - $2.19 The Szechuan Spicy Rice Noodle / 成都凉粉 seemed orthodox, with chilled thick pieces of rice noodle and various sauces. Spicy, sour, and savory notes intermingled. 4* The Sauerkraut Live Fish / 秘制酸菜活鱼 impressed. An entire chopped up whole fish (bones still attached, head, and tail) went into what was essentially a large stew. The fish tasted fresh, living up to the "Live" part of the description, The broth tasted like a rich fish stock, accented by the "Sauerkraut", which is actually pickled mustard leaf. The pickling had its tang but without the acerbic nature of Western pickling. That made for a tangy yet savory soup broth that proved quite addicting. 5* The Szechuan Spicy Aromatic Pig Blood Hot Pot is essentially a giant spicy pot of broth and random pig parts thrown in, such as intestine, pork blood, lung, etc. It isn't actually a "hot pot" in that you don't get a burner and heat source. I do wish it arrived hotter. It seemed like it had sat for a few minutes, so it was hot as in heat lamp, not hot as in just off the boil. 3* Overall, the portion sizes seemed decent. I enjoyed the fish, thought that the "hot pot" should have arrived hot, and had no strong opinions about the rice noodle. That would set my rating to a 4*, but I do need to knock that down because nothing actually tasted spicy (caveat - the fish isn't supposed to).
