Customer service was superb, and definitely high-end hipster. The guy who helped me out was really courteous and put together a "package" of 6 sample frames that he thought would look great on me. He also kept showing me various types of frames while handling other customers in the store - awesome! My favorite were the vast collection of bug-eyed hangover movie star chic sunglasses. So if you're in the market to look like a post-Saturday drug/booze-filled weekender edition of Lindsay Lohan "don't talk to me I'm soooo hungover and just got out of jail" I'd recommend checking this place out. Although I didn't end up purchasing frames, they have a really wonderful collection of unisex frames that are super bold, stylish and unbranded (he says they come out with limited styles every few months or so). I was scrambling to find glasses to use up my flex account allowance on its valid last day and wasn't finding any frames that were quite right. When I showed the associate helping me, April, what I liked about my current frames, she dug through back stock and found a pair of frames that were perfect. There was a small problem with the nose piece while we were doing the fitting and she called other stores to locate a new pair and promptly emailed me about the options. All the frames are specifically designed for SEE, so you're definitely gonna get a unique pair if that's what you're looking for. The styles range from professional and sophisticated, to fun and edgy, and if you want hipsta, they've got you covered. The store is clean and modern and the glasses are displayed on shelves, not locked away behind glass cabinets, which makes the trying on experience very inviting and enjoyable. You can easily bounce back and forth between frames. It really feels like a high-end boutique, without the pretentiousness or sticker shock. Flattering lighting and lots of mirrors everywhere. I was afraid I wouldn't find any frames that I liked, but I ended up finding way too many! I was able to focus on finding glasses that actually looked good on me and complemented my features. Being the indecisive creature that I am, I was in the store for almost 2 hours, but no one rushed me and I didn't feel pressured to make a purchase. Jeremy and Shelby were both very friendly and super helpful with picking out frames for me even though they were juggling other customers. After an arduous process that included countless selfie pictures to my best friend and bf, and multiple second opinions from three workers, I narrowed my top 6 frames down to 2. I ended up purchasing both, and with my Groupon, the glasses were more than worth it! I ended up with frames that I would have never picked for myself - Dark green hipster frames and rectangular tortoise shell frames. My prescription sunglasses that I've had for many years finally gave out on me and it was time to search for some new ones. I admit, i was on my way to Lenscrafters because of its convenience in location and as fate would have it I went one block too far and had to turn around and come back up Market to head to the store. I saw this SEE location and figured I'd walk in to see what it was all about... BEST DECISION BY FAR! This store is fabulous!!!! I loved the selection of frames, both regular and for the sun! The store setup is pretty basic and exactly what I was looking for... - plenty of frames in plenty of colors - great photos on the walls of people wearing terrific spectacles... who-da-thunk-it! - no annoying tags that get in the way when you are trying frames on and plenty of mirrors - no glasses in locked cases so you are forced to have to ask someone to help you - great service that was in no way pushy at all! As a wearer of spectacles for many years, I have come to dread the process of choosing new frames as most places don't have much to try on or offer onsite. SEE has the most unique eyeglasses! I brought my boyfriend here since he was looking for a pair of glasses. I had been here before, so I knew they would have exactly what he was looking for! They don't have designer glasses, instead, they have their own brand. It's easy to come here and find exactly what you are looking for. Stopped in here to get my internet-ordered prescription sunglasses adjusted, and they just went ahead and did it for free! They also gave me some cleansing clothes when I purchased a little spray bottle of eyeglass cleaner (and I love it!). Two dudes were there; Shawn (Sean?) performed my sunglasses surgery. Got my second pair of glasses from See Eyewear. I got my first pair from the LA location a couple years ago and I loved it so much I wanted to get another pair after it broke. Caroline was really helpful and a pleasure to work with. The Groupon deal was made the glasses much more affordable cause I wanted anti-glare and thinner glasses for my high prescription which was an extra $170 on top of the $289 frame cost. The styles are all limited production so if you see one you like, definitely go for it! New styles come out every month too. read more

I don't think there's any company/store I've ever worked with that has better customer service than this SEE Eyewear store on Market Street. I've gotten 3 pairs of glasses from this store over the last 4 years and have always been greeted immediately,and the girls have always been extremely useful while helping me decide which glasses look best on me. They understand my budget and don't try and up-sell, and when the process is all over I get to walk away a week later with an awesome looking pair of glasses for a very reasonable price. I do not intend on buying glasses from anywhere else as long as I live near a SEE. read more

I walked in on a busy afternoon, and one man was helping multiple customers. I wasn't in a huge rush, so I didn't mind roaming around and looking at their diverse selection. After less than 2 minutes, he greeted me and said "I think I have just the thing for you. Are you looking for prescription?" I told him no, and he grabbed a pair of sunglasses from the other side of the room and handed them to me. "I'll be back in a moment, let me know what you think." as he strode off to help another customer. There were roughly 5 of us now that he was masterfully rotating between. I looked down at the sunglasses he handed me. They weren't what I pictured when I was walking toward the store, but I tried them on and they were PERFECT. I didn't want to be a sucker that just buys the first thing a salesperson shows me though, so I held onto them as I browsed a little more and tried other pairs on. I never liked any as much as the ones he picked for me. When he came back to help me again, he asked me how I liked them and offered to show me other color options for the same frame shape when I replied with my approval. I ended up preferring the color he showed and he checked me out quickly and efficiently. I have no idea what kind of sunglasses would look good on me. I'm okay at choosing other fashion styles for myself but I specifically came to See because I wanted an expert opinion. I was looking for eyeglasses and decided to check out See. I ended up buying a pair of glasses and going back a few weeks later for a second pair. I found the selection of eyeframes amazing. They were really fashionable, stylish and reasonably priced. I was helped by Dave who did a great job In giving me feedback and making sure that the frames were the right fit for my face and prescription. I never felt rushed and he went out of his way to show me frames. I had confidence that the frames were right when I found that Dave had many years under his belt as an optician. Satisfaction not guaranteed. Purchased a slick pair of sunglasses here in early Summer. Polarized lenses and aluminum frame for under $200 sounded like a bargain at the time. Unfortunately, you get what you pay for. Within weeks the frame and lens gradually warped under light use. I brought it back, but was told they don't have warranties for their products and that I was probably at fault. SEE eyewear might appear to be sexy, but quality is a miss. Jeffrey is my fav person and helps me find just the right look for the season; he has a phenomenal sense of style via his artistic eye. I have always passed the store when I am on my way to & from the gym. One day i decided to go in & check the place out to see what the styles were like. I was amazed with the selection provided in an array I haven't seen before. The first thing I said to the man who worked with me in selecting the right eye wear "I am only looking for glasses made in 55mm and up." I was very specific because I know what fits me & what I wanted I wanted nothing else below the sizing I asked for. Jonny showed me a nice selection & I saw a few that I chose. Narrowed the search down to 3 pairs that I am now slowly attaining by getting a pair every month. The main thing I liked about the place is that Jonny actually listed to what I was looking for because I feel a lot of people in the city don't do that who work in retail; they simply just tell you in looks fabulous when in reality it looks like horrid on you because they just want to sell or make quotas. Angelique, my stylist was helpful, came up with good suggestions, helped me to take pictures of myself in various glasses, and later happily changed an order when I changed my mind. Jorge came over to help because I had a problem with an old pair of SEE glasses. The solution wasn't easy...but Jorge came up with a creative solution...found what was needed to do it...and I walked out with one pair of new glasses and one pair of old and beautifully repaired glasses. Disappointed. I absolutely love the SEE Eyewear branch in Boston, and was looking forward to purchasing my next pair of glasses at the San Francisco store. The first time I went in, I felt pressured to purchase glasses that day because they would "run out" of the frames I liked. I asked the man who helped me to just put the model number in my customer profile so when I came back I could check if they still had the glasses. He did, and he also said he would put in my prescription information so that I don't have to bring that in the next time I come in. Fast forward to today, a couple of months later, when I've decided to go ahead and get some new glasses. I brought in my current pair of glasses, which were scratched (despite having anti-scratch protection on them) and asked about replacing the lenses-- was told it would cost close to 200 dollars to change the lenses, even though the entire set of glasses had only cost me 300 to begin with. No offer of a discount since I'd bought the glasses there or since the anti-scratch didn't work despite my taking good care of my glasses. But ok, fine: my glasses were a few years old and I can see why profit-wise you wouldn't want to make it easy for people to switch out their lenses. But the lady at the store flat-out said that the glasses were scratched because I wasn't careful with them (which I am!). Bad customer service on that front. So then I am trying on new glasses since it doesn't make sense to switch out my lenses. The lady who was helping me brings out 5 pairs of glasses in the model that was in my customer profile, in different colors. That's nice I guess, but I had already spent half an hour picking the exact style and color of the glasses I liked- why are you making me do it again? I choose the same pair I had chosen before, and ask about the discount for VSP customers. In case you don't know, SEE doesn't take VSP, and they can't even check if you are a VSP member, but they give you something like 30% off to make up for the fact that you're not getting your glasses through a VSP provider. So the lady tells me I need to prove I have VSP in order to get the discount, which I can't do because I don't have a VSP card. So I waste 10 minutes of my lunch break trying to prove I have VSP using my smartphone, and in the meantime it turns out the original guy that helped me a few months ago had never put in my prescription information, so I have to go find that too! So at that point I decide I can't get my glasses ordered today and get up to leave. The guy who is now helping me (he had switched off with the lady who it appears went off to help another, more lucrative, customer) asks if I want to just get the process started and then email him my prescription later-- I will say he was much more helpful than the lady I talked to at first. I tell him no, since I also need to prove I have VSP to get the discount. And he tells me that in fact I CAN get the discount without proving I have VSP. But he also tells me that they are going to run out of stock in the glasses I want so I should really order them now. Umm, didn't I hear that a few MONTHS ago? My feelings at that moment-- why are you guys trying to trick me and take my money? Soo I felt I should write a review. Is SEE terrible? No. They have some cute frames and I really like the glasses I got at the Boston store. But the pushy customer service and the wasted time left a really bad taste in my mouth. And honestly, if they had just offered the discount I know from past and now current experience they can just give you without proof of your eye insurance, I probably would have walked out with new lenses for my current glasses and a whole new set of glasses too. Amazing service! Jorge totally took care of me. I had had my eyes examined at Lens Crafters up the street but decided against shopping for glasses there. A year previous I had popped into See and they adjusted my glasses (purchased elsewhere) for free. That is what encouraged me to return. I'm so glad I did. They have a fantastic selection of frames. Today is the first day wearing my new glasses and I received so many compliments. All the sales associates were friendly and helpful. Something has really slipped here over the past few months in terms of customer service. It's bad & noticeable. Hope it's a temporary problem, because this has always been one of my fave eyewear stores. They used to be stellar level of service. Now it feels like they could care less about whether a customer is there or not. Some staff seem completely untrained. Weird. The frames are EXPENSIVE in comp to their competition so CUSTOMER SERVICE is really SEE's only edge in the eyewear market. There are too many choices for consumers for them to slack off. read more

I really wanted to give this location a 5-star review, but after the ordeal I experienced, it really saddens me to give such a low review. PROS: First and foremost I love SEE Eyewear for their unique and quirky designs. I receive many compliments on my glasses all the time! And at this particular location, many of the workers in sales have good knowledge on the products. I believe it was the store manager helping me with a great pair of frames with an awesome color way that really went well with my skin tone. Overall, I felt very happy with the customer service I received with helping me pick out a pair of frames. CONS: What happened next, and what I found out, is a turn for the worst. I originally purchased a pair of frames about less than a year ago, and a piece of the plastic that holds the metal encasing to my lens broke. They were done, if i continued to wear them my lenses would fall out. Being less than a year, I was concerned, but willing go to a location and see what I could do to fix my frame. I originally bought the 1st frame at the San Jose location, but since my boyfriend works in SF, and the location so close to Bart, I thought I would stop in. The employee that was helping me was the store manager, and since they didn't have my original color, he gave me the same frame in another color way and it was BEAUTIFUL! He then asked me if I would allow him to set my lenses in the frame, and I gave him my consent. He wasn't too far away from me, while working on setting my lenses in, all of a sudden I hear a loud "SNAP!" He looked at me in shock, but I nonchalantly thought nothing of it at the time, and he then handed me my glasses. Not a word, didn't mention anything about the loud snap, so I assumed everything was fine, and I left the store and went on my way. IMMEDIATELY, my vision was WARPED in the right eye. I've worn glasses for 18 years, so I know its expected to feel a bit dazed when putting on new glasses, but that usually only happened with NEW LENSES. Also, the problem was only in 1 eye. When I looked over at the position on how the lenses was laying, the left looked aligned and was set correctly, the right was sort of slanted, and not even. That was my first inclination something was wrong. I wanted to be a little patient so I waited. 1 week in I was STILL seeing warped vision, and now feeling nauseated.If I turned my head to the side, or tilted my head too far up, I saw double vision. It was the worst feeling ever. I work at a hospital, which has its own skilled optical department. The selection of frames that they sell at my employer are boring, (reason why I go to places like SEE) but they offer the BEST lenses. I wanted a 2nd opinion, so I went to my employer and had someone in the optical dept. look at my glasses to find out what the problem was. I told the optical person what I was experiencing, she was shocked when she took a look at my glasses. She took some tools out and set the lenses correctly in the frame, she helped me put the glasses on my face and BOOM! NO MORE WARPED VISION! The new problem was that the lenses were TOO LOOSE, to the point of falling out! I asked her what had happened to the frame? She told me whomever set my lenses into the frame, didn't know what they were doing, at one point jammed the lense in and DAMAGED the frame. She showed me how the metal encasing for the frame was enlarged, which is why the lenses was now loose when it was set correctly. Since the lenses was set incorrectly, the thicker parts of the lenses didn't lay right in the metal encasing, so everything was warped out. If it was done CORRECTLY, it wouldn't have been a problem. Now it ALL STARTED TO MAKE SENSE WITH THE LOUD SNAP. I'm not the type to complain, but at this point I was livid. Having to deal with 2 broken frames in less than a year, and one where it may have been the SEE employee's fault made me so upset. I didn't even want to return to this location for anymore help. I decided to go to the San Jose location where I originally bought my first pair of frames, and would take my chances at that location. I will have a separate review for the San Jose location.After all of this, I feel like the manager that helped me here, really failed at being honest with me. It was obvious he knew, something happened when he installed my lenses incorrectly, and when he heard that snap sound. Why not address the problem and be honest with what happened? I would appreciate the honesty, than to hand me my frames that would give me such discomfort. Also, I've come to the conclusion SEE doesn't have the best tools when dealing with certain lenses. I noticed they use one dinky tool, while other optical places have a whole bunch of different intricate tools that get the job done. I think in order to do your job efficiently, you need all the right tools. I really had high hopes on this place, but what I went through was just.. too much. read more

It absolutely does not get any better than SEE eyewear. From the second you walk through their doors to the moment you leave, you are impeccably taken care of. I recently lost my favorite pair of glasses and was bereft when I found that my usual glasses shop had nothing exciting to offer. I'm a girl with STYLE! And NEEDS! My specs must SIZZLE!!! So- I wandered into SEE on a whim ("nothing will ever replace my supercute frames... I guess plain jane is all that's left for meee...."), I truly could NOT have made a better decision. Not only did they have countless designs that blew my previous favorites out of the water- but their customer service absolutely cannot be beat. Within literally seconds of telling Lindsey what I was looking for in my new pair of specs, she delivered a box of options, organized by color and shape to pair down my options. 40 minutes later, after trying on practically every pair in the store (annoyance from the staff at my inability to make a decision? Absolutely not.... "Try them all on! Go big or go home, girl!... Oooh, and those look good on ya!") I had my frames chosen, prescription faxed over, a promise of a fast delivery, and the warmest 40 minutes of customer service I literally have ever received. And fast delivery? Try a 48 hour turnaround, people. I had barely checked "new specs" off my to-do list when Leo (a fantastic guy to turn to when you want a male opinion) called to announce my awesome new glasses were ready for pickup. If you're in the market for new glasses, and want someone with a bit of friendly knowledge to nudge you towards theeee peeerrrrrfect pair- SEE is the *only* place for you. I really like See because they have all the best styles under one roof and are fairly affordable. I was pleasantly surprised that they offer 30% off to people who have VSP insurance. Even though their out of network, they offer the 30% off and vsp typically covers $100 ($50 for lenses + $50 for frames) but it will depend on your specific insurance. It will cost $99 for them to add non reflective coating for the entire order. Based on this, it was actually cheaper for me to get glasses from See than it would have been for me to buy glasses from an in network vsp provider. This is mainly because in network providers inflate the prices so much! read more

I just purchased a pair of glasses here on a whim. I didn't really need them, but the staff was so good about helping me find what I was looking for, helped me find a Groupon to get $200 off, and made everything so easy, I decided to buy. The good news didn't stop there. When I picked up my glasses, they were absolutely perfect, probably my best pair ever, and I have about ten pairs! One of the employees even left the store with me to help me get my rolling bag down the stairs at the Montgomery BART station entrance conveniently located a stone's throw away. Poor customer service. After walking in and not being greeted by an employee I was far from upset, I'm self sufficient and saw that the 2 employees were busy. After 2 more customers came in after me and they were greeted, I was sill far from upset, perhaps they didn't notice me and I was busy trying on different frames. But after pulling a frame from the window display (no signage asking me not to) I was scolded by the employee not to touch those. He couldn't stop helping a customer to greet me, but stopped mid sentence to scold me. Fine, my bad. As I was unaware of my fauxpas I attempted to right my wrong by putting the frames back exactly where I found them only to be scolded again. He stopped helping a customer (that came in after me) a second time to scold me. I'm not demanding being helped in order, just had I been helped, this encounter most likely would not have transpired. Customer service and tone are everything especially when there are 100s of places for frames in the city. read more

In store, the staff seem really chill, super helpful, and extremely friendly. Picking my frames and picking them up was such a pleasant experience. However, I will say the biggest reason I'm not giving them a full 5-star rating is this: my glasses were supposed to be in on the 14th, but the lady who helped me said they would likely be done a lot sooner than that. They would call me when they were ready. So, I waited patiently, excited to get my new glasses as soon as I could. Weeks passed, and I was a little antsy (well, a lot really) But, I didn't want to pester the store too early, so I waited, and waited, and waited. When the 14th rolled around, and I hadn't received a call yet, I decided to call in myself. The woman I spoke to said my glasses were still being processed and that they may arrive later that day. They'd give me a call when they did, she said. So I waited all day. No call. I waited another couple of days, kind of anxious. I'd be leaving town this weekend, and I was hoping to have my new glasses before that happened. So, I gave them a call today, concerned about the status of my glasses. They said they'd call the lab to see what the hold up was. I received a call just a little while after that, but I had gone back to work at that point so they left a message stating my glasses had been there since the 3rd and that they had called and left me a message then. This was actually pretty annoying. I had never received a call from them, and the fact that I had been told two days prior to that that my glasses hadn't arrived sort of aggravated me. When I called to confirm that my glasses were in fact at the store, I raised my concerns about these things and honestly felt a little brushed off. I had the guy on the phone tell me what number they had even called in the first place, and when it was apparently my cell phone and I stated I received no such call... Well, his answer was a little less than satisfying, to say the least. Nonetheless, I just wanted to have my new glasses, so I rushed over right after work, tried them on, and went on my merry way. I love my glasses, and I truly felt taken care of in store. I just wish they were a little more on top of communications... Excellent customer service but I am not very excited about the product. They have good styles but the eyewear is not lifestyle friendly. Lenses easily get scratched and replacements are very expensive. read more
