how very fortunate that there is an optician like Rims + Goggles here in SF.. it's always a pleasure to go there...and what can I say about the staff..the BEST...and they know how to select frames that not only make me look great; but elicit comments wherever I go... read more

Excellent service. Incredible selection of glasses. You don't need to go anywhere else!

I have been looking for some new frames and had gone to several optical shops with no luck. The selection here is amazing; fun, eclectic, and unique! The service was great and they took the time to choose frames that suited my face. I have to say they all looked great and I would have been happy with any of them. I was really surprised considering there wasn't a single pair I liked from the 4 other places I had gone to. This will be my go-to place for frames from now on! read more

My wife and I love this place. They have a great selection of unique frames and the service level is amazing.

Customer service is unmatched! Larry helped me with an adjustment to my old frames and they fit good as new :) Will absolutely come back again! read more

My favorite glasses were broken badly in a bicycle accident I had, along with a number of various parts of my body, too. I was going to give up and throw them away, but I noticed the store and thought I'd give them a try. To my amazement, they were able to fix my glasses. But here's the real part of the story. They charged me $10. TEN Dollars. Wow. I was thrilled. They have a new customer now. read more

I stopped in here to ask for help repairing a pair of sunglasses. I received them as a gift 2 years ago and was told they were purchased at Rims and Goggles but I did not have a receipt. The man who helped me who was extremely nice. He spent 20 minutes fixing them for me. Then he noticed the glasses could use an adjustment to fit on my head better and did that as well - All at no cost. They have a large selection of beautiful frames that are expensive by my standards but clearly the customer service matches the prices. read more

Great space, very cool glasses, huge selection! Amazing customer service. Just a really pleasant experience overall!

I never have gotten my glasses anywhere else but Rims and Goggles. They have glasses for any face, any age, and look from the very hip to perfectly conservative. Perscription glasses, sunglasses, and kids glasses are all here. Yes, this is a pricy place but it's really abou the customer service. Barbara (the red-headed lady who's worked there for the better part of 20 years) knows exactly what fits your face. Usually the first pair of glasses she pulls for you is the one that works out the best. I usually go for the infinitely customizable T2 line of rimless glasses. Any color, any shape. Get bright colors for a younger look. More neutral tones for a grown-up feel. Great place for stylish glasses. read more

I bought my glasses at Rims & Goggles several years ago, after an unsuccessful search for glasses I liked in San Diego and a thorough search in San Francisco. Although people in San Diego don't say much about my glasses (some don't even like them!), everyone in NYC loved them. I lived there for 3 months and I got SO many compliments on them. People would even stop me on the street and tell me that they liked my glasses. It's been more than 2 years and I still find them fashionable and fun. When I move to NYC in a few months, I think they will still "play" there. I also got prescription sunglasses at Rims & Goggles and they are the BEST sunglasses I have ever had. They are fashionable and I can see perfectly with them, the lenses are amazingly clear. read more

This is my new spot for glasses. I have been with the same Optometrist downtown for the last several years, so I still go there for my check-ups, but their glasses selection is very limited. I have walked by Rims & Goggles so many times, since I live in the area, and their selection by far, exceeds, most available in other stores. I went in a week ago to look around, and Barbara was immediately available, offering suggestions and letting me try on different frames. Not to mention, they are pet friendly and she gave my little pup a treat :). I ordered a pair of glasses (even though I had just ordered a new pair from my other dr's office, but these were so much cuter!) and got them within the week. I will definitely come here again for another pair of glasses, they have SO many awesome styles to choose from. Yes, they are a little pricer than most, but let's be honest, glasses are worth investing it. read more

Went to go get my glasses adjusted and she was down to help then looked at me in a weird way and said "it's a $5 fee". I've neverrrrr heard that in my life. So, she fixed it for $5 and didn't even clean my glasses. Got her finger prints all over it. Da hell kinda service... read more

I love Rims & Goggles. Their store near Union Square has a bigger selection and friendly, competent staff, but I usually start at the Sacramento store because I've always found Barbara to be so friendly and helpful. A few times when I've not been sure about a certain style, Barbara's advice was balanced and convincing. Recently, I helped a friend shop for some avante-guarde frames. Though there are a number of stores with interesting selections, Rims & Goggles remains my all-time favorite. One of the big turn-offs in many stores are the high pressure, hoity-toity sales staff. Of the five different people who have helped me at the two Rims & Goggles locations, they have all been highly knowledgable, helpful and down-to-earth. read more

Amazing, best service ever. Their customer service is 5 star without a doubt. They are true gentlemen. I will only buy from Rims and Goggles. read more

Extremely helpful and kind. Larry fixed my banged up glasses with the skill only someone with years of experience has. Glasses are as good as new and all of this was free of charge. Highly recommend! read more

Barbara certainly knows her business and is a pleasure to deal with. Eyewear is such an important part of ones persona that I so appreciate her expertise. The store is modern and comfortable with an excellent selection of frames. read more

Although it's been a few months since I visited Rims and Goggles, it was important to share what a great experience it was for me. As I was overdue for new glasses, I went to the top end stores in my area, sent away for try-ons...looking for glasses that I 'wanted' to wear and that reflected my style. If I would have purchased any of those that I tried, I would have been just settling, so that I could just get some glasses. So glad that I did not settle. I asked a friend if she knew of any good eyeglass stores and she mentioned Rims and Goggles. We ended up shopping together. I wanted someone that I trusted to support my choices. But once we got there, I knew that the salesperson (Barbara? It's been a few months, sorry) was going to guide me in such a way that was in my best interest. She had great style, was very friendly, knowledgeable and patient! I bought a pair of glasses that I just love and also a pair of prescription sunglasses because I was finally loving my options! I've had transition lenses in the past and was ready for some real sunglasses again. Love my selections. And not that it really matters what other people think, but I can't tell you how many compliments I get on my glasses! At least 3 times per week. I have never gotten compliments on my glasses. Rims and Goggles is my 'go to' place for glasses from now on. Oh...and go have a nice lunch at Spruce while you're in the neighborhood. read more

I haven't purchased glasses here, but I take them in for repair. Priced well and excellent customer service. No sales pressure.

To find a fantastic shop that caters to the customers needs can't be better represented than Barbara (the sales woman) at Rims and Goggles on Sacramento St. She knows every style of glasses that is carried in the store and knows what might suit me. I have bought sunglasses, reading glasses, distance glasses from them and have always been impressed and very pleased with her suggestions. I have faxed my prescription to the store, after choosing a frame that compliments my face, and within one week they have been ready. The superb service of professionalism with a smile, the honesty of Barbara's suggestions, their fashionable and large selection of frames, along with their quick turnaround and competitive pricing keeps me returning and recommending Rims and Goggles. read more

You know how, when you're looking for something, you often find it in the very last place you look? I was looking for a very specific style of frame, and I literally visited every eyeglass store in the Bay Area except this one - some more than once - to no avail. Finally, I was in the neighborhood one day and stopped in. Barbara was so honest and courteous; even though they didn't have exactly what I wanted (cat eyes in a medium green), she knew what would look good with my features and pointed me toward a pair that, while not green, are just perfect. I'm very happy with my purchase, and with the service I received. I enjoyed our interaction; she really knows her job and made the experience fun. Highly recommended! read more

Shopping for a pair of glasses can be quite a challenge, but not when you walk into Rims and Goggles on Sacramento Street and are helped by Barbara. Her sense of taste and design is miraculous and in the many years that I have purchased glasses from her, she has never gotten it wrong with me. Usually it is the case that the first frame she selects is the perfect one. I honestly don't think I ever spend more than about 15 minutes trying on various glasses with her guidance. Other eye glasses stores just can't compete with her keen eye for what will look best! Karen H. read more

i've come here twice, once a man was here as the optician and he was pretty nice in letting me try on any frame i wanted, but i went today and the red-hair lady was there. she was not very willing to let me try on the glasses behind her counter and i think she only let me try two. i feel like she thought i was going to steal. she didnt even offer me any other glasses to try. she told me to go to their downtown store because they had a bigger chanel selection- went downtown, they have less chanel glasses. thanks lady. AND they dont take ANY kind of insurance... wtf! read more

The red-headed lady that works at Rims and Goggles on Sacramento St. is the BEST at adjusting eyeglasses! She definitely has a talent and skill for seeing what's needed. Thank you, Thank you! read more

The Sacramento Street location for Rims and Goggles is like "coming home". It is large enough to have an excellent selection of frames, and yet small enough to make one feel warm and inviting when there. I examined my frames from years past to donate them, and realized they were as good as when I first purchased them at Rims and Goggles. Quality and selection are excellent. They even have a place in the store where frames are discounted and the bargains are fantastic. But their signature is their service. Barbara, who is there full time, and Larry who helps out a couple of days a week, both come with experience, knowledge and passion in serving their clientele. It is the kind of warmth and caring about doing the right thing for their customers that shines through bright and clear. They have that way of looking at you and knowing right away what frames fit your face and your personality. The old saying, "You get what you pay for", is true. But at Rims and Goggles, Barbara and Larry take it to a higher level. You'll never come away disappointed. I wish every business was like them. read more

I visited this store recently on holiday - my glasses had broken and I needed an urgent replacement pair; I cant thank Barbara enough - she was helpful and enabled me to enjoy the rest of my holiday with a new pair of very hip glasses in next to no time! read more

The only place I go for glasses! Barbara is the ONLY person I know who always gets it right. And she has done so for years. Not only does she get the prescription right, she is also great at helping you choose the most flattering style for your face and your personality. read more

Had a very good experience with Barbara, a very attractive english woman at R&G on Sacto St. in Laurel Village - not the one downtown. She had a particular frame design I have been searching for for a decade at least. The lenses are very complex, combining corrections for near and far sightedness with astigmatism. The lenses are polycarbonate varilux by Zeiss. Excellent craftsmanship. Fit perfectly on my pupils. The vertical transition from distance to reading is imperceptible. The lenses did not stick out beyond the frame as often happens with strong prescriptions. And they fit on my face without contacting my brows. The frames are designed by Wolfgang Katzer and are so simple and distinctive that people I don't know have complemented me on them - which never happens. R&G also provided replacement nose pads at no charge when I accidentally knocked one out. The glasses were made reasonably quickly. Thank you R&G. I would recommend them highly to anyone else looking for high tech and high style. D. Bramante AIA read more

I recently came to the Sacramento St. store, and had the sheer pleasure of being served by Barbara, the manager. I found her to be very polite and courteous, and she also has a real knack for choosing the right frames to suit. The shop itself has a great selection of eyewear. I'm thrilled with my new frames and can't recommend Rims and Goggles enough! read more

Sadly it use to be one of my favorite eyewear stores. I've spent thousands of dollars at both the Sacramento and Sutter Street stores on high end glasses. The arrogance of the manager on Sacramento Street has turned me off completely. I'd rather shop where someone appreciates a loyal customer. I had one problem after years of shopping and they did not back up their product. I was amazed. If you have a problem they get mad at YOU. The Sutter Street personnel are equally not warm and friendly. I love shopping. I love eyewear. I love happy sales people, which you will not find at either store. read more

I went in today for a tweak on my ill-fitting sunglasses (purchased elsewhere). They were so uncomfortable I haven't worn them in a year, and I wasn't really optimistic that they'd get much better. Barbara worked her magic, and now they fit like a charm. Barbara is very accommodating, knowledgeable, and great to work with. We talked vision and I realize that I really should get my eyes checked, as I should have a prescription for reading glasses and not just readers. I cannot wait to see the optometrist next week, 'cause then I'm running right back to Rims and Goggles for glasses. They have a huge selection of high quality, really cool frames. I'm actually looking forward to wearing glasses. If I'm lucky, I'll need more than just readers! read more

Please go elsewhere for your eyewear needs. This is the most unprofessional establishment I have done business with in the 33 years I have lived in San Francisco. The salesgirl (Barbara) is rude and difficult to deal with. If there is a problem, it is always the customer's fault. She is less than honest about the services her business can offer. I left a pair of glasses to be repaired. It was supposed to take 1 week. It took almost 3 weeks. When I got the glasses the left lens was a milky color while the right lens was clear. She told me that was what I ordered. Really? She said they could fix it but it would cost $200-300 and take several weeks longer. Or I could just buy an entirely new pair of eyeglasses, at her store of course. She told me (inadvertently) that she never checked the glasses when they came back from the lab. She told me she could not reach me by phone yet she had 3 phone numbers to reach me at. There are many places to purchase sylish eyeglasses in San Francisco. I am begging you not to go to the Rims and Goggles on Sacramento Street in Laurel Heights. read more

I didn't realize how poor the quality of work was at this branch of Rims & Goggles (in the past, I've had great service and selection at the one in Mill Valley) until I used the optometrist service at an opthamology practice at CPMC. The contrast was astonishing! I must have been to Rims & Goggles three times because the Chanel frame I bought there kept popping a lens. I thought maybe the problem was the admittedly fragile design of the lens. But I was concerned enough about Rims' quality - I also never felt my prescription was quite right, although that could have the fault of my previous opthamologist at UCSF - I decided to just go to the optometrist at CPMC. I told him that I probably couldn't reuse the Chanel frame since it kept giving problems but he said that would not be a problem. Sure enough - no problem with the old frames. I was also concerned that I got my first pair of progressive lenses at this Rims & Goggles and could not use them because the frame was apparently too small to accomodate the prescription. They put the prescription in a larger frame at no charge but they should have been able to guide me better during the frame selection process. They also suggested no additional protections on my sunglass lens or for computer use on my reading glasses - in other words, they were not informative. read more
