After the klutz that is myself somehow rolled over my glasses while in bed lounging around like a beached whale on a pleasant Sunday afternoon, I saw to my dismay that I had unintentionally bent the metal part of my frames and thus made it unwearable. I attempted, to no avail, to self-repair my glasses with a mini screwdriver I owned. As it became increasingly clear that I couldn't salvage my beautiful glasses on my own, I proceeded to feverishly Yelp eyewear stores in the vicinity that could bring my glasses back to life. Lo and behold, I stumbled on SEE, and immediately called to ask if they offered eyeglass repair services. Next thing I knew, I found myself in their Water Tower branch, and the ever so kind Sheila tended to my glasses and repaired them for free. While she did her best, my glasses were only salvageable to an extent -- the metal part is still bent (she failed to align it back to normal) -- and one of the temples hangs loose, making my frames sit rather lopsidedly on my face. Nevertheless, without Sheila's help, I would have been blind for an indefinite time as my eyeglasses completely came apart during my self-repair session -- in unscrewing the temple, one of the tiny screws managed to roll down my sink, down to the deep abyss that is the sinkhole. The staff is very professional and polite, however the eye glasses themselves tend to fall apart very quickly. This is the second pair of glasses we have purchased from SEE eyewear and both have broken within 6-7 months. When you spend more than $500 on a pair of glasses, you expect the glasses to last more than six months. With the first set, the arm kept falling off but the staff downtown was awesome--they even found a replacement frame for us. With this current set, the glasses rest higher on one side and look crooked, but their store in the suburbs straightened it a little bit and then said there was nothing they could do to help us further. I typically prefer to visit a private practice for my family's eye health but decided to visit SEE after going into one of their Brooklyn stores and finding a great pair of glasses for my DD a year or two ago. Visiting this location, we also found great customer service that has been consistent from both the staff and the "super cool doc" (in the words of my DD). And, we weren't the easiest of customers--changing appointments, running late, multiple contact lens safety sessions for a new lens wearer, etc...No matter who we worked with everyone was pleasant, personable, engaging and very helpful. The frame selections- although a bit limited- allowed both my DD and me to come away with frames that we both love and that also grant us lots of compliments wherever we are. We will continue to purchase our frames and our contacts here and will happily recommend to friends that they check this location out. And for all you parents that have tweens/teens that are ready to convert to contact lenses, I love the doc's strong and clear stance on lens safety. It was a bit of a pain in the butt for our schedule but so worth it when it comes to creating great habits for a new lens wearer. See does it right. The staff at see is top notch. From the sales people to the optomitrist See can't be beat. I went to the Michigan Ave location for the first time and couldn't be happier with my experiance. The frame selection here is great. They have lots of interesting styles you will not find at other stores.The staff here is also extremly helpful. I must have spent at least a hour in the store checking out frames and they were very helpful when I needed a second opnion. When I finally picked out my frames they were nice enough to ship them to my house so i didn't have to make another trip into the city to pick them up. Unfortantally mine were shipped with a broken screw. This is were the customer service at See really stand out. Go talk to Bridgit. She's the absolute best! I came into SEE last Friday afternoon by myself to look at the frames since I had purchased the Groupon. Keep in mind that I was wearing my glasses when I stopped in. I asked the girl that was working if she had any recommendations for me. She asked if I wanted a frame like the one I already had and I said no. Then she proceeded to tell me that it was basically up to me to find one that I liked and that I should try a bunch on to see what I liked. She didn't pull any frames or even stick around to see what the frames would look like on me. I have pretty bad eyesight and it didn't make much sense for me to try on frames on my own since I can't really see what I look like with them on. I found a frame that looked good sitting on the shelf and then told the girl to write down the info off of it so that I could come back to try it on with my contacts on. She didn't seem to understand how that made sense and didn't even bother to give her own opinion. I definitely regretted purchasing the Groupon. The next day, I convinced one of my friends to go with me to SEE so that I would have a second opinion. I also made sure to wear my contacts. Fortunately, the girl from the day before wasn't there. Instead, Bridgit asked if she could help us. She immediately began pulling frames for me to try on and gave her opinion on what she thought looked good. Once the three of us had narrowed it down to two pairs, she even asked some other customers to give their opinion. It was soooo helpful! She was really friendly and made me feel comfortable in giving my real opinion. I purchased the frames and am now just waiting to pick them up. I will update my review when I do pick them up. After I purchased my glasses, my friend wanted to look at some sunglasses, so we started to do that. Bridgit opened the case to the more expensive sunglasses and left us to look at them. At that point, that was way more helpful than her only taking out one frame at a time since my friend didn't have any intention to buy but was just looking. Turns out that we found the perfect pair of sunglasses and Bridgit agreed without being pushy. My friend purchased her sunglasses and is super happy with them. Overall, absolutely do not go to SEE unless Bridgit is the one that is helping you! She makes the experience fun and she is appropriately helpful. read more

I was in the store and looking for a particular type of glasses. They promised me they could order them and ship them to me. I knew that these frames were next to impossible to find so I called three times to make sure they were what I was looking for. After several promises, I agreed to purchase and have them shipped to me. Of course, they were the wrong frames when delivered. While Mike did agree to accept my return, which is against their policy, I was the one who ended up apologizing when he lied to me over the phone about the frames. Additionally, I had to pay shipping both ways for their mistake. I would not recommend purchasing from this store. read more

I am so happy that I came across See! I love the two tone purple frames that I got here. They have a great selection of frames. I am more so into the plastic frames and they have a large selection of them here. They also have metal and rimless. Even though I have vision insurance (which seemed to only be accepted at expensive boutique places), I feel like it ended up being a little bit cheaper to get my frames here. I like how the prices on the frames include your basic lenses. The sales staff was very helpful. The only problem I had was when I picked up my frames, the case they gave me was too small for my glasses (which I figured out after I left, of course). I had the best experience at this SEE location recently. While I've always been a Lens Crafters girl, I decided to try something new when I lost my glasses on Halloween (whoops - I do not recommend doing that!). I was with my mother because as everyone knows, nobody should go glasses shopping alone and I knew she'd give it to me straight. The staff was awesome, offering us mimosas, chocolates AND popcorn when we came in (I know, right?!). Also, always a good idea to get the mom a little liquored up when shopping. I really liked that they had a selection of both designer frames and their own styles, which were perfectly on-trend. The styles spanned from conservative to funky to those hipster Buddy Holly-esque glasses I keep trying to make work for me but really never will. In other words, there's definitely something for everyone. The customer service was perfect for me - helpful and informative, but not over bearing and breath-down-your-neckish. Phew! There's nothing like feeling pressured when you're buying something that will be on your face everyday. Prices are about in-line with what you'd pay at independent shops around Chicago - a bit higher than a national chain but it reflects the selection and quality. I ended up purchasing TWO pairs of snazzy glasses since they had an amazing deal going on and they were both ready within a few biz days. I don't intend on losing either pair *knock on wood* but if I do, I'll be heading back to SEE! read more

I was out of my contact lenses and happened to walk in to the Watertower location. Scheduled my exam for a Saturday, got in, got out, even had my prescription in hand without even asking for it. I love the eclectic choice of frames available and will probably add one of their sunglass frames to my wardrobe. I am forever hooked! I read great reviews on how friendly the folks were at the Lincoln Park store, and the folks at Water Tower are just as so! Though all of the employees are very accomdating,I mostly dealt with manager Mike, Jeff,and Matt. They were great and very kind toward me, esp when I couldn't pay for my lenses all at once on account of a layoff. I finally got my cool, new frames and I'm getting alot of compliments! Went to this location after a hiatus of several years from SEE to get my annual checkup for contacts and glasses. The Dr. I saw was super fast and seemed very knowledgable. She continuously made sure to use alcohol wipes and disinfect all surfaces which made me feel at ease since I figure this is more of a high traffic store being in the Water Tower. After my exam, Leo my friendly optician gave me several choices to examine for glasses. Since I had several pairs at home I knew exactly what style I wanted but also sought his opinion on what new styles I might want to incorporate for this new pair. After searching through the entire line/store, I was able to decide on a pair with help and encouragement from Leo. When it came time to review the pricing, he was extremely efficient and explained each section thoroughly. I felt I had a good understanding of what I was paying for and also had a wonderful experience selecting my frames and even reviewing insurance coverage (if you can believe it). I highly recommend anyone who wants honest and friendly service to go see Leo!! I give him 5 stars (manager: *bonus*) haha But in all seriousness, this was perhaps the most pleasant experience I've had selecting glasses and not feeling as if I've just paid an arm and a leg for them. I first went to sunglass hut where I bought my sunglasses to fix the pin keeping the lens to the temples - pretty generic but sunglass guy said I would have to find and call the Gucci manufacturer to fix and when I get the piece, then maybe they can fix it. Wow. Without looking I stumbled upon See asking without expectation if they could help. NOT ONLY did they fix my sunglasses on the spot, they did it for free with a polish and a notice that they will always provide free repair even when the glasses aren't theirs. Here is my See Eyewear experience. One week ago, I was so frustrated that I didn't get the sunglasses I expect. 1) Eye reflection on the glasses; 2) too dark; 3) there are spots that made me very dizzy. After I talked with the customer service, he asked me to pay $75 more to fix the lenses. I was so upset and wrote a very negative review at yelp. This weekend, I got the chance to talk with the store manager, his attitude was totally different from the customer service that I talked earlier. My first experience with See was in January 2010. Four prescription frames later, I'm pretty sure I won't be going anywhere else anytime soon. Why? 1) Great selection: I've never been disappointed by the options on offer. Not only am I a huge fan of my frames, judging from the compliments, so is everyone else. 2) Excellent service: As other reviewers have mentioned, Leo is pretty great. I can't say enough good things about this SEE Eyewear location. The customer service has been excellent and the staff (Mike in particular) has been very patient and helpful as I have been indecisive about my eyeglass purchases. After 7 years i finally got a new pair of glasses. Had it not been for the super nice staff member, Matt, i would still be wearing my old glasses. I looked at many other places, did not feel comfortable to make any decisions. One day i just wondered in this shop. Matt was knowledgeable, helpful and put me to ease so that I could make a decision. I still get compliments on my glasses. A few weeks after my purchase i got a nice handwritten note from Matt wishing me well with my new glasses. This is NICE service. If you have a hard time making decisions, not sure what you want, this is the place to go. They accepted my insurance (HMO) and I paid $250 for single prescription lenses. Prices for frames and lances are comparable to the other places I visited. I am planning to get a pair of sun glasses from this place. I worked in an upscale (average frame probably median frame price probably $450) eyewear boutique. See in water tower is pretty upscale but has a FAR superior atmosphere and attitude towards sales. The manager helped me find TWO (and did not pressure me to buy TWO) pairs of fabulous frames--one See brand and the other Oliver Peoples. I just could not decide. She called my insurance, gave me a two pair discount, and told me about the credit system they have which meant another 10% off. I paid less for two pairs than my last pair of designer glasses. AWESOME DEAL! The way she approached the sale was without any pressure and she asked WHAT I wanted and then found pairs I might like and discreetly set them down next to me as I tried on frame after frame. When I mentioned that I liked a certain frame, she was right there to tell me there were more colors. But she didn't hover. I have no idea how she did that actually. I live out of town but plan to make multi-year pilgrimages to See in Water Tower. read more

I ended up making them switch my lenses two times between frames, one being a special order, but they were most patient and accommodating. They have both their own (SEE) frames and a range of brand names. Good place to look for that "hard-to-find" frame. I walked into SEE on a busy Saturday. They were staffed properly for the amount of clients. I said hello to the salesgirl that falls under a cheaper version of Adale. Completely ignores me. They had my $340 Chanel glasses that I had been looking for and was never assisted. I informed her that I did not appreciate being ignored, she looked as lost as a puppy in a shelter; poor thing. After reading most reviews I agree that they have a great selection of frames, unfortunately the memo of customer service has not been circulated. I purchased my eyeglasses at SEE 14 months ago. I have astigmatism so my prescription is strong and expensive. This morning, I noticed a crack in the frames which means they will likely break in the very near future. I called the store to learn about their guarantee and Monica informed me that damage that occurs within a year includes a 50% discount on a new pair of frames. Unfortunately for me, I am two months too late. Monica didn't think it was odd that my frames broke after 1 year of wear. I have never ever had this happen before and I have been wearing glasses for 33 years. While the glasses are very attractive, I don't think I would use them again due to this policy. read more

I made an appointment at SEE Eyewear for an eye exam for contact lenses. At the beginning of the exam the Dr. mentioned that I had eye infections in both eyes and would not be able to wear contacts. She then said that she wouldn't allow me walk out of the exam with the pair of contacts that I wore into the exam. After some prodding she did let me leave with my contacts however she refused to give me an eye exam because of the infections. I showed no visible signs of eye infection and no irritation at all. I went for a second opinion at a proper doctor's office where I was given an eye exam and prescriptions for contact lenses without an issue. I mentioned the initial Dr's findings to the second Dr and he said there is nothing that leads him to believe that I had any type of eye infection. He mentioned however that allergies can sometimes be confused for an eye infection, I do have allergies. At SEE I feel like I was given an inexperienced doctor that misdiagnosed me and I was charged $40 for this misdiagnosis. I'm not sure what the issue was, as I said there were no signs at all of eye infection. I am writing this one month after my initial exam and still no signs at all of any issues or irritation with my eyes. SEE might have a great selection of eyewear however if you are going to have an eye exam I recommend you go to a more professional establishment with more experienced doctors. read more

Great service and a lot of really fun and trendy frames. And it was great that the sales people gave real opinions on how the frames looked and spent time finding just the perfect pair - Jeff and Mike were wonderful, as was the Doctor who also helped and was super friendly! They used my insurance to the fullest benefit and I'm so happy! So easy, nice location and great staff. Highly recommended!
