AWESOME frames...average lenses. The frames at SEE are amazing, unique, and totally worth the visit. The eye exams are easily available and totally worth the visit. But, surprisingly, SEE does not offer high tech scratch resistant lenses, even with an upcharge. When I asked if the clerk assisting us ever had customers come back in the first few months after purchase complaining about scratched lenses, she said "oh yes", rolled her eyes, laughed, and said the customer must not have been careful enough in taking care of their glasses. At that point, the store manager walked up to interrupt, stating forcefully that SEE does NOT offer a scratch resistant lense or lense coating product. I assured him that I had gotten that message loud and clear. I bought the gorgeous frames, and am getting lenses for them elsewhere. read more

Newer to area and needed a new eye doc. I had tried a couple but never returned. I tried See in Water Tower Place on 2nd floor. So welcoming, so kind, really helpful. Mike set up my appt by phone and it was a pleasure to work with him when I got there. Clearly, he likes what he does. I met Dr. Jeannie Xie (pronounced SHAY). She greeted me, got to work and was super awesome during the exam. Took my old optometrist years to get me into contacts and they still kinda sucked, honestly. Dr. Xie asked if I was open to trying a new contact brand, which I was. Glad I said yes, because the Dailies Total 1 were a million times better than my other contacts I had worn for years... when I don't want to wear glasses. I wear a multifocal lens and those can be a pain to fit and the visual field can leave distortions. I tried them for a few days and then returned a 2nd time trying to find that perfect cocktail mix. Dr. Xie was extremely accommodating, once again, listened and worked with me. I left with more samples to mix and match to see which combination will offer the best option. I'm so grateful to her, and their low-pressure sales is amazing too!! Great service, talented optometrist, wonderful staff, clean shop. Color me impressed! read more

Wow! Impressive, professional, kind, knowledgeable, and fantastic customer service by Brittany recently! The hinge and temple of my eyeglasses had detached from the left lense of my glasses and I was in desperate need of getting them fixed. I was running an errand in Water Tower Place on Michigan Avenue and on my way down in the elevator I stopped off at SEE...it was pretty busy-but the staff was very warm and receptive to all customers. I gave Brittany my glasses and she fixed them and they are "as good as NEW" once again! Yay! Thank you also for taking the time after fixing them to spray them down and wipe the lenses as well. I really appreciate the personalized customer service that you provided. I will be back in December to purchase a pair of eyeglasses that I saw there as I love, love, LOVE the variety and selection. Based off my initial review, I was contacted right away by the District Manager for the Chicagoland area. She was concerned about how my past visit was and very open to listening to me and wanting to make things right. She asked if I would be willing to give them a second chance. As I have mentioned in other Yelp reviews, I definitely believe in second chances so I gave her that opportunity. The District Manager was very caring and strongly wanted to make me have a happy experience. I really enjoyed speaking with her. She gave me a great offer that I couldn't refuse so on Friday, 4/6/18, I went back to the Water Tower store I visited and met the manager Michael. The store experience was totally different than before. Quiet and serene atmosphere and Michael was very welcoming, attentive and charming. I couldn't of asked for a better experience. I was able to order the glasses I wanted. The District Manager had to actually get my glasses shipped from another store because it's not online anymore nor in the store I previously visited. Michael Gatsby - is my favorite! From his style, personality, and energy! Michael was attentive to my style taste and picked a few frames that I may be interested in or just to simply "try on for fun". I had a great time picking frames with him, he listened and understood what I was looking for! Not once did I feel pressured or rushed. When my first pair came in there was a small scratch on the lens he ordered a new lens which took about a week or less for my lens to be replaced. Onto my second pair now that he knew more or less what I was looking for it was a total breeze making my final selection. Crisp vision again - the revelation I had back in 4th grade with my first glasses and could see the blackboard again. And *sigh* I can read again with out contorting my eye over my frame and holding the book two inches from my face. Getting older is inevitable, but there is no reason to give up on style, baby. This is the place to get those frames, 'cos everyone needs glasses eventually. I had an eye examination today and had a wonderful experience at the SEE Water Tower location in Chicago. I'm not a new customer and returned because the staff is friendly, provides follow-ups, and in general good service. Today was exceptional for me, because Joshua Withrow, the Assistant Store Manager, had discovered insurance that would cover my exam and partial payment for my glasses. I have been self-employed for nearly thirty years and typically pay for my glasses and dental work, as previous insurance has not always worked out for me. Nonetheless, I was surprised and grateful to have a SEE staff member be so proactive, and in a way, advocate for a customer. That is exceptional service and will keep me a loyal customer. read more

I purchased a $783 pair of glasses at SEE Water Tower Place and the lenses scratched within. 6 months. So scratched I cannot see out of them at all. I contacted a representative and was advised because my glasses are under warranty I would need to pay an additional $328 for new lenses. I've been wearing glasses for over 30 years and purchased glasses from the lowest of the low end stores to now a high end store. This is unacceptable! Did they even use scratch resistant lenses? Be very careful when purchasing glasses from this place. Highly disappointed to pay $1,111 for a pair of glasses that are not even named brand. read more

Lured into the store by unique and style forward frame designs featured in online ads, I was instantly greeted by a friendly staff. I picked out one or two frames I was attracted to from the well-stocked and neatly arranged shelves. While I shopped, Morgan filled a few boxes of options for me to try on based on my fave shape and style preference. She has an incredible eye, and before I knew it, I had a pair to show my Style Guru BFF, who instantly approved. Morgan helped me get a great deal, and walked me through the ordering process smoothly. After trying on many pairs of glasses in both boutiques and my doctor's office, I am so glad I stopped by SEE. FYI - this store offers no returns, unlike most all other eyeglass retailers. This is my second time coming to this store and I am a long time wearer of progressive lenses. Bought a new pair of frames with new progressive lenses and the lenses are screwed up and I cannot see close or far. I have had this issue a couple of times over the last 15 years and I can tell you that the process to fix the problem requires an immense amount of my time, back and forth trips to the store, as well as weeks of waiting in between for a new lens - that may or may not be correct. I simply do not have the patience or time to be ubering back and forth to this store while they experiment with progressive lenses. I just donated a pair of $1000 frames and lenses to them because this pair of glasses is worthless to me and my time is more valuable than the cost of these glasses. Ordered a new pair of glasses and picked them up at this location. I could not see through them so I returned to get them checked and was told that everything looked correct. I ended up returning twice more because I still could not see through them and felt there was something wrong about the glasses, only to be told each time that everything still looked correct. So I took the glasses to my optometrist and she confirmed that the lenses for the glasses were cut incorrectly and the focal point was no where near the center of the lens. I spoke with the manager about this and he still insisted that my glasses were correct (without even looking at them!!!). He then refused to refund me for the incorrect glasses and continued to rudely insist I was wrong. Will never get glasses at SEE again. Save your money and go somewhere that actually has quality glasses and cares about the customer. read more

Good selection of frames. Both, in-house, hand made as well as some designer frames like Chanel or Oliver Peoples. The design of their house brand is state of the art. Overall the prices are moderate, however if you pick the high end glasses the package gets expensive. The staff is very nice, not too pushy and not too "I don't care". They leave you the space you need to decide. I like that a lot. Their optometrist is young and/but he does an awesome good job. I love my glasses, the frames are from their "main" collection (around $170 without glasses). They came with a loose temple hence we did send them back. That can happen and absolutely not issue getting a new pair. My experience was very positive and I would shop there again. Thanks. read more

I have had prescription sun glasses in a Ray Ban frame for 20 plus years. This summer I broke the stem which sent me on a mission to find a replacement stem. Several opticians sent me to See as my last hope. Joshua and Michael were up to the task. They directed me to several sites where i might track down my "vintage" frame. Zero stars! This is the bitchiest optical place I've ever walked in. I was shopping at Water Tower Thursday night in search of a weekend bag and thought, hey! Why don't I stop in the optical spot to see if they carry my both beloved and coveted Bellinger frames? I walk in and I don't get so much as a hello from the attendant. Sure she was chatting with another person but I looked around for a good 7 minutes and not once did I get a "I'll be with you in a moment" or "Hi, was there something you had in mind?" I have been hunting down a particular pair of Ray Bans for awhile now. And... was ecstatic to find them today at See. This location is a bit larger than the other two in Chicago and doesn't solely carry the proprietary frames. (Enter Water Tower on Michicgan, take the escalator up, look at cool water fountain as you pass, walk back and hang a right at the top) The sales guy was nice and efficient. He cleaned my frames, put them in a case, and had me outta there in no time... where I proceeded to stroll Michigan Ave on a bright, sunny, winter day. read more

The latest (and last) experience that I have had with See Eyewear has been very frustrating. First, I want to be very clear that the service in the stores has been fine. At both the Water Tower and St. Louis stores, the staff has been helpful and friendly while also attentive to details and customer service. Regardless of the customer service, the quality of the lenses and frames are far below acceptable. I have had my lenses remade 4 times. The first three times had the same identical problem. The polarization was completely off all three times on the left lens. Because of the difference between the lenses, they were not wearable and gave me severe headaches. I was finally able to demonstrate with my phone the issue while in the store. The staff discussed it with the lab and the manager there said that he knew what to look for and could resolve it. Yet, they sent them back to me with the exact same problem. In the end, I told the staff at the Water Tower to leave off the polarization and be done with it. That was the fourth time and I just recently picked them up. When I arrived at the store, the fit was horrible. I was really shocked to find out that the frames were the same that had been in the store when I picked them out. I assumed See had new (unworn) frames that were sent from the warehouse but it appears that was a bad assumption on my part. Regardless, they fit ok now after about an hour of adjustments, but they are still very uncomfortable to wear. I didn't send them back or ask for anything further because, to be honest, I am tired of dealing with this situation. While the lenses are now without the original issue, they are truly not much darker than my regular glasses. It is very light with the tinting but so be it. As I have said, the staff has been helpful, empathetic, and understanding. However, each time has taken 1-2 weeks to remake the lenses and get the glasses back to the store. This had dragged on for so long that I can't even remember the time when I ordered the glasses. Perhaps my prescription is too difficult for sunglasses but I was never once told that it could be an issue. At this point, i will not return to your store. The frames are fun and fashionable but they are too expensive for these kinds of issues. read more

My prescription changed (hooray), so on my way home I decided to pop into SEE, since I got an email earlier about their new Core Collection, and see what's what. My previous trip wasn't so fruitful as their previous collection all ran small for some reason (no, I don't have a big head). I'm glad I decided to give them another try. I was immediately greeted and checked out their new frames. So many to chose from and my salesperson was beyond patient with me. I finally found a pair that I liked and looked good. The frames run at around $150 and my lenses were a bit more because I need progressives (I paid approximately $330 with insurance). I got them in the two week time frame promised. Best of all, they got my prescription right without a crappy computerized program, which can be difficult for progressives. The experience was a total win. Next time I need new glasses, SEE will be my first stop. read more

I've needed to buy glasses for the past 5 years and I just couldn't do it. I don't know what's wrong with me but it felt too permanent for me. Like wallpaper or a tattooed wedding ring. I just can't do it. I know I sound dramatic but it's the way I am; I've never had to buy glasses growing up so i have this idea in my head that once you buy a pair boom that's it. Doesn't match your outfit? Too bad you are going to have to look like an idiot. Well, finally after straining my eyes for half a decade I started to get headaches and my one eye was starting to look lazy. I freaked out, went to the doc and again, he said "buy glasses". I marched myself to SEE EYEWEAR went right up to the first employee I saw and said "I need glasses asap" and "I don't want them to cover my favorite feature... my eyes" HA! Before you claim me as vain let me give you a back story: every girl has her favorite feature. End of story. Okay, so with those two statements in mind John (See employee) wondered around the store grabbing the best glasses he could find. I tried on about 12 and found a pair that I love. They are chic, clean, inexpensive and they don't hide my money makers (my eyes, duh!) Since I am in a long distance relationship with almost everyone in my life: my family, my boyfriend, my bosses -- I needed some quick opinions from those who matter most. I took some Twitter photos of a few pairs and had my friends vote on the pair. & within 5 mins they choose the glasses I originally choose for myself as well. Yippie for technology! All in all, great experience, price and look. Now all I need to do is grow some balls and wear them while I walk across the street from the elementary school in my hood. I initially went to SEE last year for new glasses and had an OUTSTANDING experience! Everyone was so friendly and accommodating and they know their collection really well so they are able to make the most of your time. They also were very good at suggesting different options and were incredibly patient. I felt like the only person there yet they managed to attend to everyone around me as well. I had a problem with a lens and it was handled courteously, promptly and with no hassle. I also had some damage to a frame and went back today and that too was handled without a problem! I HIGHLY recommend them for any of your eyewear needs. They've made vision frames into great sunglasses for me, suggested stylish frames and always treated me like a valued customer. I will always remain loyal to them. They GET customer service and professionalism without being uptight or stuffy. They're highly knowledgeable about and believe in their products (the SEE frames, unique to SEE, are also really affordable and durable). The staff here is super friendly and totally nice. A++ I've come in here several times and have gotten top notch treatment from the staff. I've gotten two pairs of glasses from this location and each time they were super. They really go above and beyond. Sure they are a bit pricey (don't have insurance) but I wanted something different. I went to tons of speciality stores and regular ol' Lens Crafters and nothing compares to the selection of frames I found at SEE. Got my uber cute frames from here. Had great customer service. The employees are all so fun and very nice. I'm actually going back this month to get new frames. I've had my current pair from See for a little more than a year now and I still get tons of compliments. :) I, too, received a loely handwritten note and also two pairs of trial contacts so I could see which type I loved more. I had the pleasure of purchasing script eye glasses from Shelia Tracy. She is a wonderful person/employee who has worked with the Golden family (founders of SEE) for over 20 years and I believe, all along at this same Water Tower location. Shelia is a down to earth lady who really understands her product lines! Her low key sales approach and friendly personality along with experience with understanding a persons shape and correct fit is stunning! Instantly she knew which glasses work and which styles didn't. You see I purchased my first pair of glasses from her several years ago and I always received compliments with them. I took this for granted and figured all eye glass stores were the same. But this is simply not true. See has fashion forward frames specially designed to their specs. Essentially, whenever I go into an optics store I am overwhelmed. Talk about a fast transaction, I barely walked into their conveniently located store on the second floor at Water Tower Place then it was over! The process could not have been easier, If I only knew purchasing glasses was this painless I would have been back sooner and not waited til my last pair were lost. Today, Shelia hand picked an awesome assortment of eye wear for me then in turn I purchased them on the spot. Oh yes, the prices at SEE are not only fair but their design exhibits a little edge. I just picked up my glasses today and I LOVE them! My old glasses were in a word, busted. So busted that someone bought me a groupon to See as a gift. I was a little worried because the website highlights very trendy fancy pants glasses, and I'm typically pretty boring, especially when it comes to things that I will have to wear on my face every day. When I visited the store, I was pleasantly surprised. They had a great selection of glasses and I found the perfect pair. I did not have my eyes examined there, but the other staff members that I met were very knowledgeable. I always thought that I couldn't wear plastic frames because of the shape of my face, but they worked some sort of magic and made them fit. Best groupon ever. read more

When looking for new frames, I had popped into SEE a number of times. They always seem to have a good selection of reasonably priced, stylish frames as well as friendly and helpful employees. And even better, they have an awesome wall of clearance-priced frames. Knowing I wanted new frames, my husband happened into the store, found some awesome frames, called me, and within thirty minutes, I was there being measured for the frames. They contacted my eye doctor's office to have a release of information authorization faxed over, had me sign it, and had my prescription faxed over. Easy as pie.. Two days later, they called me to let me know my new glasses were ready to be picked up. I love this place. If I had more money, I would have 10 pairs of their glasses! I went in with my groupon, and even though that can sometimes come with medicore service...not here!! From the first phone call to the visit to pick up my glasses, everything and everyone was great. I worked with Leo, whose honest (but NOT mean) opinion helped me find frames that didn't make me look weird...and that is invaluable. He was also helpful and patient with me throughout the whole process, as I had a lot of questions, and wanted to try on a lot of frames. The staff in general seem to be helpful people that are able to maintain their sense of humor and personality throughout the process. Don't undervalue this!! SEE is a little expensive, however. But I think it's worth it. They're also transparant about their pricing, so it shouldn't come as a surprise. Also...this location is in the Water Tower. What do you expect?? read more

Customer service is wonderful. I was visiting from Boston and decided to stop in. Perfect timing because they were having a $39.00 close out sale on $300.00 frames. I found two pair I loved and brought them back to Boston to have my prescription put in them. Not even a week after wearing my glasses, I lost them. I was devastated!! Fast forwarding two months, and I decided to call the store to see if they still had the frame. Well, just so happens that the same associate that sold me the original pair answered the phone. Michael G., once again, gave me great customer service. By the end of the day he contacted me to tell me he was having the same exact frames sent to Chicago from Florida and would be sending them to me in Boston! He was so patient and helpful! I walked in and right back out. Happened to hear a girl asking for her contact RX back so she could buy somewhere else after they had canceled her appointment 3 times. They refused. They also would not give her the contacts which were in the store, because "their optometrist had to check her eyes with the contacts in, store policy." as I was walking around looking at frames and admittedly eavesdropping, i spotted the optometrist in the back of the store eating. i realize this may have been her lunch hour, but it was 5pm- soooo probably not. i will never waste my time here. read more
