So far all I have read are bad reviews and I did want to put a positive one to share my experience. I live 8000 miles away from my incarcerated loved one. It is impossible for me to visit regularly. So when I had the option for video visitation when he got moved temporarily to a new facility, I was so excited because I could finally see him. I read up on the company asking £30 for u limited monthly visits and had palpitations at the thought of me losing the connection and it not working or being cut, I had my first visit yesterday and it went as smoothly as I could have hoped for. I did the speed test a few times prior to my visit starting so that I k ew I was in a good place (internet wise.) The video quality was not bad. I could see and talk to him for a whole 30 minutes ! It honestly is a fantastic solution for people who cannot travel. So 5* (so far) in my opinion. read more

This is one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. Their service is horrible. I am an attorney who must use their service to conduct video visits with my clients and I don't think I've ever had a video visit go as planned. Today, I had a 20 minute video visit scheduled with a client. The website was experiencing problems and it took forever to get the video to come up. Once my end was up and running, they took another 10 minutes to connect the client. There was only 3-4 minutes left for my visit. So, in other words, I was charged for 20 minutes, but only got to speak to the client for 3.5 minutes. I think their customer help line is intentionally inept to discourage you from calling. If you are a detention facility, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Iwebvisit is 100 times better. read more

This has been the worst experience just trying to stay in touch with a loved one this company is horrible. I had a problem with my loved one's phone being blocked for no apparent reason the facility he is in doesn't even know anything about it. So I tried to speak with a supervisor because the customer service rep was just flat out rude. The supervised proceeds to take the call and is 10 times worse than the service rep very uneducated and unprofessional very sad that we don't have a choice of phone companies to carry the calls because I sure would not be dealing with these rude people. Securus is the WORST. It should be criminal for them to charge the long distance prices they do. Have local phone number for the inmate so that it does not cost an outrageous amount each phone call. But it is still too much. My big problem is with Customer Service and the Live Chat. I was on Live Chat for over an hour waiting and then got kicked of or out of the Live Chat. I called the 800 number and that took over 45 minutes to get the problem solved. I asked why Securus did not hire more people so that calls could get taken care of. Was told the suggestion would be forwarded to management. I told the Customer Service that I should not have had to wait for over an hour on Live Chat & over 45 minutes on the phone to get to talk to someone in person. I have been trying to get a hold of securus for 3 weeks now. A inmate tablet was sent back for what securus said was a security update. They will not answer phones or my emails.. in the meantime my inmate has been out of a tablet for over a month. The tablet website doesn't have a phone number where you can talk to a person and their main site will keep you on hold for over an hour. I finally got through and the representative referred me back to the tablet email address. Also their main site says you can chat with a person but it only sends you to a question and answer page. I've attempted to use Securus Tech video visitations several times & have worked with their Tech Support making many upgrades to my Laptop with different Browsers, Plugins, & received many assurances this would work but IT NEVER WORKS ! This is a waste of time & money. Their Tech Support appears to be articulate but USELESS & their Reps who first take your call are very rude, untrained (never having even done a video visitation). They advertised how easy their system is to use but IT's NOT easy as it requires many PC system updates & still does NOT WORK. For six weeks I've had routing issues where my husband calls me and the lines never connect. For six weeks I've caleld Secrus and submitted over ten tickets. I've requested to be transferred to the I.T department and was denied that and told that the representive can't even speak to them. Every representative has told me something different when the issue first started happening and now that I have numourous notes and tickets on my account everyone agrees by reading the I.T department notes that it's a routing issue and they claim it will be resolved. ITS NOT BEING RESOLVED! My phone will work for a few days after a ticket had even submitted then stop again. I used to get a call for a few days in a row before I had to call back Secrus and complain now I get a call every few days and when I call Secrus they can clearly see all the attempts and then they submit yet again another TICKET! The last representive I spoke to told me that once my husband calls me the call is routed to Secrus and then Secrus uses a carrier to route to me and there is some sort of Issue there and that I.T will see the issue that they will fix it. I remind them that the issue they are claiming will be fixed is a temporary fix since I constantly have to call back. This is unacceptable. I request a supervisor to speak to and the reps tell me none are available. I request a call back from a supervisor and they tell me I have to wait 48 hrs and NO ONE CALLS. I found a corporate number in an online forum along with the corporate head quarters adress and I will be calling it Monday since I've spent six weeks begging for this issue to be resolved. I have the names and dates of everyone I spoke to along with the ticket numbers and I will be reporting everything to corporate. I have three numbers on my prepaid account and every time I call I express the specific phone number having the issue (the other two numbers are waiting for facility approval) and the representatives have even even filed tickets under the wrong number several times now waisitng my time waiting for I.T to reject the ticket due to the inactive number. Any other company this would be considered unacceptable yet Secrus's subpar service is allowed because it's prison related! read more

I couldn't agree more with the other posts. They claim they have "live" customer service but the you can never talk to anyone live. Their automated phone system is a piece of crap and they tell you that if you don't answer something that it will bring you to a live person which I tried to do about 6 times and all that happened was that the phone system cuts you off and disconnects you because you don't respond to the question in the automated system. Then you get to the incompetent chat people that give you a circular discussion and keep giving you the 800 automated system that doesn't bring you to a live person. This company is the WORST! They suck at what they do. I asked one of my chat people to give me the name and number of the Customer Service Manager which at any legitimate company they would do. All Jennifer the chat person gave me was the 800 number to the automated system! She claims they get 10,000 calls a day...but not to a live person because they don't exist. read more

For some reason their system wasn't taking my payment even thou I verified funds available used three different cards none of which worked and obviously their fault especially since all three cards verified that no transactions were denied on their end. They proceed to block my video account for 30days with no warning! I call customer service Andes treated rude by rep and then when transfer to manager she is even ruder. Eventually hangs up on me when I plead to speak to someone else she claims she is highest upper manger there which we all know is bs that anyone of that position would not speak like an uneducated ghetto unprofessional and rude to crying customer. Not to mention my boyfriends court date is less than two weeks away and I need to be able to speak to him and get it necessary things to be prepared by not having these visitations it's completely putting his freedom in jeopardy. I am a daily 1--2 sometime 3/4 daily video visit customer that should not be treated this way and in turn a customer making them a lot of money and it's bad business to block a frequent customer like myself and if they want to stick their their claim of fraudulent activity suspension than that should be lifted the moment I call and verify its not fraud but was multiple attempts made by me. I have an account which is called a 'pre-pay account' You put money on account so as to receive phone calls from your person in prison. But...what they do is put your account 'on hold' after a certain amount of time regardless of the money you have on the account. My son has called I have picked it up and it says you have 30 seconds to talk and that you need to put more money on your account. It took quite some time and many phone calls before I found out about the 'placing your account on hold' They explain it this way: if you don't receive a phone call from your loved one within 90 days, they put a hold on the account. You have to call give them your pin number and they make the account active again. Well it is not 90 days, they hold it when ever they want. My son has tried to call several times and it is always 30 seconds and you need to put money on the account. The last time I was able to get hold of a 'live' customer service person I once again explained the problem and requested my account be switched to a direct bill with invoice account. He said well we would need to do a credit check, I said no problem he came back immediately and said my credit was denied. He then said EVEN WITH a direct bill account you need to reactivate your account every 90 days or they put any money you have on hold, so when your loved one calls they can't get thru. Well, I have good credit, so that was a lie. My son tried to call me Dec 2nd couldn't get through. They show -$67.85. I tried to call 1-800-844-6591 cannot get anything except a recording ...I see we have an account for that phone number, recording recording recording and THIS TIME when I put in my pin they said I have a 0 balance. I have attempted to get someone LIVE I cannot. When I finally cycled enough times thru there supposedly 'live chat' I was told to call the same number, that they cannot change my account in a live chat. I said I cannot get anyone at that number, they said follow the prompts. They do not give you prompt options that connect you to a live person which I explained in my live chat and they disconnected me. The only other option was a 'do you have a question box' well I typed out my problem and even that tries to cycle you around. So now I will write to the company. This is more than disgusting. You can't even get to speak with your loved one in prison because of how this company runs. There needs to be some changes made. read more

So i got an account to receive inmate calls, thanks to the reviews here i know not to even set up an account but too little to late. So here's the deal, I open an account not knowing that in order to use a google voice number or any local number calling service that you'd have to set up another account for that number. Damn so I closed the account I just made ((Mind you it didn't have money in it)) And I noticed that there is NO way to delete your account. I mean delete the entire thing. I find out that you cannot delete your account permanently. They just keep your information. Read later in the terms in service that it would take 7 mother fucking days to delete everything. Which is like....bitch I closed the account. I want it deleted altogether to start over with a different account. And you know what? Just skip it. Just give your inmate money for a calling card like some of the reviews say. No option to continue. Ridiculous! So now I'm on hold for 10 minutes so far, and "due to high call volume it will be a while". This business and its service are terrible. Do not use it. it is a rip off. 15.00 for 15 minutes. When you receive a call, there are ads and sales pitches for its service. If you call for help, there are prompts, which take 10 -15 minutes of ads and sales talk and then your subject matter is not an option. On my sixth call today, i called and asked if my request for a video visitation account was approved. I was told by a woman that the facility approves the account. I said to her that I was told the same thing by securus 2 months ago but the facility told me it was securus. ( i was disgusted 2 months ago and decided to forget that company, but i tried again today). I told this woman that the facility says it is securus. she insisted it was facility. facility sent me back to securus, and the same woman answered (after 10 minutes of prompts and sales ads.) i told her what the facility said. she said facility wrong. i asked to speak to a manager or supervisor. she said he wasn't there. i questioned that no supervisor or manger or anyone over her was there. she said no. i asked for her name. i could not understand what she had said her name was and asked her if it were [her name.] She said it again but i again told her i did not get the name. she did not respond. i asked her to spell it. she said she could not spell it. This company is a rip off and charges exorbitant fees for terrible service. the online chat is a joke. there is no online chat - only questions, which do not include your question, and then you have to use their online help, not a chat. Video visitation does not work, and to sign up for video, fails. This company needs to be reported to an office and to the district attorney in the state of Texas. the fees are 15.00 for 15 minutes and constantly as you wait for your call to be connected, there are 2-5 minutes of ads and sales talk. read more

For two weeks I have been receiving robo calls from this company. When I answer, I get a recording, implying that a prisoner is trying to reach me...obviously for money. Problem is I don't know any prisoners. I called them back and was told to go to their website if I do not have an account with Securus. But you need a username and password to access the site. So, they have made it impossible to communicate with them and to stop the annoyance. I have now filed six complaints with the Federal Trade Commission Do Not Call Registry.because my number is on the Do Not Call list. What;s even more maddening is that I changed my number just two weeks ago because of the deluge of unwanted telemarketing calls. There is no way a prisoner could have this number. I don't know what Securus wants. But I do know that they must be using an auto dialer that is not linked to the Do Not Call Registry and which does not use actual phone lists. Do they really think I would ever do business with them if I were to need their services? The FTC for this kind of violation if $10,000. I hope the FTC nails them. read more

Since then, I spent the entire day trying to find a person at Securus to speak with regarding getting my phone number approved so my cousin can call me using my account. He has applied twice. Once, the wrong number was approved (that is not supposed to happen). This time they don't know where his request is in the process and recommend he put in another request. Requests take 8-12 weeks to approve. I am recommending that everyone who has a problem with Securus call their corporate offices in Dallas at 972-277-0300. If we all do that, we may just shut down their phone system for a while and they can see how much they like it when their phone systems don't allow them to do the things they want to do. I used securus' video visitation services. I should have learned my lesson the first time, but was actually ripped off twice. The first time, I paid $5.00 for the video visit. I could view my friend, but he could not see me. I called customer service who ran out my entire visit time, attempting to "troubleshoot," to no avail. Then I'm told I have to fill out a request for a refund. The form all but says "we are not refunding you a cent." It forces you to sign that you are responsible for the charges, regardless of the results of their "investigation." The second time, I used it the telephone on the connection screen never turned green, so I could connect the call. Again, "customer service," used my entire visit time to "troubleshoot." The alleged tech tells me I should try google chrome for the best results. I advised her their website and automated system says to used either firefox or internet explorer. There was nothing wrong w/ my system or internet speed. They are responsible for creating the connection. Again, I received an extremely indifferent response and was told I could ask for a refund. I'm sure once I send this paperwork off (which is almost impossible to find on their site), I will be screwed over again. I'm simply going to call my bank and have them reverse the transaction. Velocity Violation error - when you call customer service these representatives don't have a CLUE! Now it's blocked for a month and I am still waiting for the damn supervisor to call me!!!! First, it will probably take you days to set up an e-mail account. It's beyond my comprehension how these morons stay in business. Never in my life have I had a worst website to deal with. for quite a while when I tried to use the link provided in an e-mail when I set up my account, all I got were 404 errors. Today, I finally managed to set up the account, wrote an e-mail and when I tried to send it, found out that it costs .99 cents per e-mail. So, after I was finally able to deposit $5 in my account I tried to go back to my e-mail and it's gone. when I tried to address a new e-mail, it was impossible. When you try the various links from the homepage like "contact us" there's nothing there. I don't blame them. If I ran a company the way they do I wouldn't want to hear from any customers either. If there was a way to give them no stars, they would get it. I placed some money in an inmates account, which was never used because he was released after going to court. Securus issued me a refund through a check. After cashing it, I got a call about a month later, saying that my bank had denied the check and that I NEEDED TO PAY THE MONEY BACK to them. Wait a minute.....You want me to give you MY money that was intended for an inmate, and give to you, for what reason? I called my bank, and told them about the discussion I had with the agent from India. She said, there was no records stating that the check was cancelled. So I guess these fools must think I'm stupid if I was going to give my money that was intended for my love one, and just give it to them as a tip? They are a scam! I would give them a 0, if it was an option. I signed up my brother, who was an inmate at the denton county jail. This was the only way that I could talk to him. They charge you when call dont go thru. There is no customer service. I went to close my acct. It had a balance of $21. By the end of the day it had $3. They out of the blue charged a "wire fee" service charge that had not been charged before. That same day it showed that my brother made $17 worth of calls. It was impossible. He had been in the texas dept of corrections for a month. They dont even use securus. Now i am fighting that. I am also fighting because i stupidly got him an i-pad. Securus assured me that on the day he left the computer would be de activated and no more charges. They are still charging me. I am fighting it thru pay pal. I went through the process, verified facility participation, and put money on THAT account. I've been sending messages for 4 days and she's not received even one of them. Like many others here, I would give zero stars if I could. I have been dealing with this "company" for the last two weeks and it's been an absolute nightmare. I first tried to fund my friend's inmate debit account with my credit card, but my card was denied. I tried contacting customer service using the number on the website but no one answered the phone. I then tried live chat and the person I was dealing with said they had no idea why my card was denied but unfortunately there's absolutely nothing they can do about it so I would be unable to fund my friend's account that way. They then provided directions for using Western Union (which didn't work), so as a last resort I sent money using MoneyGram. I sent the money on October 15. According to MoneyGram, the funds were sent to Securus that same day. Here's the problem: according to my friend, the funds are still not on his account, and there doesn't appear to be anything that either of us can do about it. I've used the live chat feature five times in two weeks (again, because no one answers the phone) and each time I am told that the funds were deposited into my friend's account on October 15 and there's nothing they can do to help me. I'm told to have my friend talk to someone at the facility to review his account, yet my friend says there is no one there to talk to about this. He tried his case worker who said there wasn't anything she could do about it, so who else is there? I mean, seriously...do I have to call the warden? I've tried explaining to the people on live chat that the money is not there, and if it's not there that I want a refund, but I'm told that's not possible because the money is where it's supposed to be, even though it's not. So I'm out $62 (the $50 that was supposed to go to my friend, plus the $12 MoneyGram fee) and there's no one at this sham of a company that gives a crap in any way. And most importantly, my friend and I are still left communicating via email, which while faster then letters, is still not optimal when time is of the essence, because they don't put the emails through every day. It astounds me that this company has a monopoly with the prison system and that they are allowed to do business in an illegal and unethical way. I understand that circumstances dictate that you may have no choice but to deal with this company, but please go into it with your eyes wide open and be prepared to get screwed in some way. This company is the biggest rip off for phone services. They turned me over to collection for $3.77 that was an "administration fee" I had no knowledge about. I was told by customer service that when I had used my balance on a call the admin fee which was tacked on after my balance was zero. and it had remained unpaid. Even though I was never notified. Unfortunate circumstances have caused me to need their services again. It cost me $11.95 to quick collect the $3.77 and 3 days later my phone is still blocked. I was told it would take another 2 business days. WOW. Every company rep has a different story about policy when I call. It's next to impossible to avoid the early termination fees + unused months for their GPS coverage service as the contract will just roll over to another year contract automatically up to the hour of your original start date.
