This Company has no Customer Service. I had a remote video session scheduled and the kiosk in the jail was not working. We had friends and family gathered. The inmate could see and hear us, but we could not see or hear him. When we spoke later on the phone he said others had the same issue and someone came in to fix the kiosk. I was still charged for the session (which consisted of 90 seconds of closing and reopening windows) trying to get audio/video on our end. Their customer service number has no option for a live person or to claim a refund. The "contact us" messaging system, no one answers. They do not respond to emails. They do not read their messages sent to social media accounts. I went so far as to call their corporate office and surprise, it is automated and there isn't an operator. I literally went on LinkedIn and found someone who worked there just so I could search their name in the directory. I finally found and got transferred to an administrative assistant who answered the phone. When I told her I was trying to get a refund for a session that failed, she hung up on me! They know they have a captive audience and they don't care about their customers. This is not the first bad experience I have had either. The same kiosk failed at an onsite visit roughly 3 weeks ago and no one told me. I sat at a terminal for 30 minutes waiting on the inmate to come on the screen. I later learned the kiosk in the jail area was not working. It's just a way for Securus to rake in people's money. They literally charge you $.50 per picture to send one in an email. Which I sent 2 days ago and to my knowledge the inmate still hasn't received. My 20 minute failed video session cost me $14.10. Now I get to decide if I want to roll the dice and try again, possibly losing more money. If I could give them a zero rating I would. read more

Securus should be considered a synonym for the word incompetent. If you sign up for video visitation and you use a computer, Securus doesn't tell you that you need IE11+ for the off-site visitation. Got a Mac - too bad. Using a Linux system - Oops! Without Internet Explorer 11+, no access. Of course they don't tell you this until you have submitted lots of personal information they get to keep (and maybe share/sell). Want to add funds for Inmate Debit? They don't explain how it works but they're glad to take your money. They took our $33 and maintained a position that we hadn't paid them. You know - fingers in their ears and hands over their eyes. They wouldn't review or acknowledge the credit card receipts showing the payment was made. I call that theft. We had to dispute the charge to get our money back. How about scheduling an on-site visit? The web site says "Oops! Something went wrong". This means you have actually made an appointment despite what their web site says. Their customer service doesn't even understand this problem. And talking about customer service - You can't talk to a person in custom service (except Video Visitation Information). Emails say they will respond between 24 - 48 hours, but that's not necessarily true. When we try to accept collect calls from the detention center, their recording says "System Error" and hangs up. Previously they charged us for a call that didn't connect. Despite our emails describing the problem and submitting their "Dropped Call Investigation Form", they failed to refund that charge, so again we disputed the charge. We can receive calls on any phone except the line we disputed the charge. Just another act of Securus theft and their unethical form of business. The first collect call we accepted, we denied Securus the option of keeping the credit card number. Didn't matter - they kept the credit card number anyway. They misrepresent their services - for example, they charge for phone services, but neglect to mention that it only works if you pick up the call when it comes in, if the inmate leaves you a message, you have to pay for that because "that's a separate service" according the representative. It is impossible to comprehend any of their services, and they don't answer their help line. And the fee is $4 for a 15 second message. I finally cancelled the payments through PayPal. My son never received a tablet after I had made two payments. I understand that a company could be backed up because of the pandemic. I do not understand why my numerous emails never received even one answer. I do not understand why I was holding on a call for 44 minutes only to be told the tablet department was separate and I would be transferred. I was also told there was a back up and tablet delay was around 60 days. If I could give this business of zero I would! I gave them $25 back in 2018. I have never received a call from the inmate using their service but yet today May 2021 received a phone call stating I owed them $2.03. this is after never using their service! I have never received any bill from them I have never been billed through my phone company either house phone or cell phone for their service either. The inmate has made more than $25 worth of collect calls to me that I was charged for. I wrote off the $25 from securus a couple years ago. But apparently they charge you a fee every month that ate up by $25 and then put me into the red. Since you cannot talk to a real person at all! It is easier to give them the $2.03 then to have them keep charging me money that they can put on to a credit score. I gave them $2.03, of course they wanted a $3 service charge to make the total $5.03. it's a racket do not use I do not think it's a good deal I strongly suggest find another way!!!! Secures always has technical issues and when you add money for the calls if you don't pay attention they will take more off your card than what you wish to spend. Been having problems pressing one to accept calls. Won't acknowledge me pressing one. I tried calling to talk to a live person about this problem and was on hold for over an hour and spoke to no one. Did a live chat with an agent and that got me no where. Even emailed them and never got a reply back. So when you have issues how are you suppose to get any kind of help when you can't contact an actual person about the problem?? So horrible service in my opinion! There are no visitations at the moment because of the virus pandemic going on. Don't be scammed! These people are awful and deserve to be incarcerated themselves. If you ever know anyone that is incarcerated, please read on and know some facts so you won't be ripped off like me. I just dropped off someone to start their prison sentence.. I was waiting by the phone for the next 2 days for a phone call from them. Once I got a call it was an automated recording telling me that I need to set up an account in order to receive calls from an inmate. The recordings trick you into thinking that the only way you can communicate to someone is through opening a collect call account. The fees are ridiculous! $10 set up free... calling to a cell phone is another $2...reloading your prepaid amount is $7 by web or telephone. I spent 2 hours frantically trying to open an account so I can start to receive calls. I tried setting it up online.. and also via telephone (the customer services reps are ghetto as fuck.. it was like talking to someone like Chingy or something). These idiots kept telling me my cards/check accounts weren't being processed and after numerous attempts, my account was now frozen. I'd have a 24 hour hold and if I'd like to over ride that hold, I'd have to Western Union money to them in order to set up the account. I ran out and did just that. Spent another $12 through Western Union. After opening my account, I was waiting for my call. I finally got it but it was a FREE PHONE call. He told me that he could buy calling cards inside the facility for $30 for 300 minutes. I find out that Securus (Correctional BIlling S is only for people who only wanna do collect calls.. the recording was a freaking LIE and it was automated!!!!! First experience with the video visitation system with someone in jail. I set up account, submitted government ID, & ran systems check from Securus. All was ready per Securus. I logged into the system to find Securus gave me WRONG time because they were "unaware" AZ changed time zones after daylight savings! I called 6 days after daylight savings changed AZ time zone from MST to PST & they had no idea. It took 2.5 HOURS to get through to a live person. The automated message always says, "4 minute wait time." Even, if two hours. I asked for refund for their incompetent error and was told I had to submit a paper request and it will take 12+ days. If Securus can debit money in seconds, they can rectify their mistake with a credit in seconds, in my opinion. Then had to be my favorite part (note sarcasm). The customer service rep wanted to argue that my Macbook pro lap top is a cell phone tablet (her words), therefore not compatible with video visitation. Got to root of it and Apple products are not compatible that run OSX. Huh? I asked where that statement was/is as I looked on Maricopa County Sheriff's website and Securus website. It was listed in Terms and Conditions at the very bottom of the page, with a size 5 font, slight statement about OSX. If 25% population uses Apple products, should Secures not have already provided capability via a Mac? Just a thought. I am the ultimate consumer Securus should be targeting- someone with the ability to afford frequent video visitation. Oh well. Back to 1987 and post cards it is. read more

We tried to set up an online account to video visit for free by going to the physical jail. They couldn't set up the account. We called their number and after about 45 minutes with mostly recordings, the live person we got didn't have a clue. Finally we accepted a call from the family member in jail. The talk time was four to five minutes. Was supposed to be $5 for the first minute, $5 fee, and 1.11 a minute after that. They charged us almost $29. Did they charge us for all the time inputting credit card info? Don't know. This company has hundreds of complaints at the BBB, and obviously almost zero happy customers at Yelp. They get rich by exploiting inmate's families. If you ask me, Securus should be in jail, and the inmates should be running their company. The inmates would be more trustworthy. Is there no way to give Securus zero stars? Edit: The charge for the call was reduced to about $17.50 the next day. Maybe it's like paying for gas at the pump, where they charge more, then reimburse the overcharge. Still outrageous. read more

This company is absolute garbage I had a brother who was incarcerated in jail and was not able to call me for a whole month they still charge you the fee even if you're not able to make the calls of $4 and then when you ask for a refund it takes up to 30 days to get your money back I put $20 on the phone and they only refunded me $16 and told me it would be 30 days or more before I could get it back and then they will block your number from ever being able to use their service again very rude and everything takes 3 to 5 days but it's really 5 days and then when you call back they tell you it's going to be another 3 to 5 days before they can resolve the problem this is horrible for somebody who is incarcerated it is insanely overpriced for a company that has no effort whatsoever to help you or any sympathy for the situation it should immediately be shut down... I've never in my mind experience this kind of carelessness even if you talk to a supervisor they are still going to take your money and tell you that the problem is fixed leaving you waiting 3 to 5 more days when you call back they act like they have to start all the way over they will take your money from you do not use this service I had a friend who had $200 taken off of his card without approval and called back and had to wait 30 days to get his money back this is ridiculous this company gets away with doing this to people who are in there with no response or help for immediate action I will be writing a letter to the governor's office explaining how all this happened whether they are innocent or guilty they should be able to call their loved ones or at least get immediate action taken to resolve the problem what they do not care. read more

This app has too many glitches. On each video visitation, I get disconnected multiple times. Then have to rejoin the call and wait for my son to get back on. So, you don't actually get the full 30 minutes. Also, I have been trying for 2 days to fund my son's account for him to make calls, but the app keeps having me put in the correct numbers on my card, card number, expiration date etcetera. Good luck to whoever reads this, I hope you have a better experience than I have had. read more

I am very pissed with Securus. I have been trying to get this issue resolved and no one seems to be able to help me. So one of the reps was laughing the other day saying that i put enough on my account in a week to be a car payment (which i do) so they really get a lot of money from me, and then they are going to fuck me over. So they tried to take $63 dollars out of my account that i never authorized. I had did a payment on 6/5 for $63 and they took it out of my account, and then ended up releasing it back into my account for some strange reason. Then 17 days later went and tried to collect the payment again. Well my bank stopped this transaction because it was way past the amount of days that they are legally allowed to take the funds. Well securus had debited my account $63 dollars and made me negative with them. Not only that, but i can no longer make credit card payments on my account so now i have to go pay 3xs the fee. I got a call at 1 in the morning. it said it was my mother as i heard her voice saying her name. she recently went to jail and has not called yet. so her to be calling, Especially at one in the morning is strange. I have never heard of an inmate being able to make phone calls at 1am... so.. I enter my card numbers to accept this collect all and it says " your payment has been received/processed/approved" then it hung up. I didn't get to talk to anyone I did use even a second it did not connect me at all it hung up just as it was finishing saying they took my money. so I check my card and sure enough I was charged for the call. now I have no way of contacting them except via email because everyttime I cull the support number on the website it is an automated system to check my balance on my online account I previously made for a friend who is in jail. I have tried all diff ways to get this support number to take me to live human support and there's no way around it. the transaction is currently pending and I don't want it to process but I have no way of getting ahold of them quickly enough to stop it, and judging by the other reviews I will not be getting my money back. read more

I have been helping a couple of inmates by funding their debit accounts and phone service. Aug 22nd 22 I saw 2 charges for the same thing on the same day. I asked my bank to stop one of them. They created a dispute, which Securus claims violates their policy and now refuses to accept my debit or credit cards, claiming to only allow me to pay by Money Gram or Western Union, which both charges a fee. The so called "Customer Service" is lacking and you cannot get anyone to reason with you. I tried to explain that this was a duplicate payment and even sent them a message on their website, since it is impossible to email them and difficult to get someone on the phone. Even if you are able to reach them, they are block headed and don't listen to reason. We need to find another way to help these poor prisoners, who are being punished because of Securus controlling their charitable contributions. Securus is greedy and has no concern for others. They are also a monopoly when it comes to sending funds to inmates. One of my friends that I met through the prison who is a prison minister has had a worse fate than mine and has been blocked from using Securus becaus of fraudulent charges placed on his credit card, which they took against one of the inmates. Should be negative stars available. My online banking apparently paid them "late" and they have now made my account prepaid. Went thru the backdoor and finally reached Felicia. OMG so unprofessional reading from a script. I was told submit via fax a copy of my bank statement and then in 2 or 3 business days if they approve it to be returned to normal. Asked for supervisor/manager and was told none available and tried twice and was put on old and none available. She said she needed to disconnect the call. Total racket...The inmate is paying for the call thru a prepaid card so why is this an issue? One time he had to call collect as he was out of minutes.
