Disappointed with this company. We wanted to get an alarm system for our new home, and after only a little over a week moved in, a sales person from SecuriMax came to our home (walking the neighborhood soliciting). Spoke with him (nice gentleman) and overall seemed happy with what this company had to offer. We decided to move forward with them a few days later.
My issue came when we found out that in order to obtain a Williamson county alarm permit, the permit states that you MUST (in bold) have 2 representatives (other than applicants) that have keys to your house, know your alarm code, and live within 30 minutes of your house. We were not informed of this by the sales rep. Knowing this, we would have passed up his offer as we just moved from another state (and only have 1 relative that is over 2 hours away that we trust). Being that I was busy trying to get my job up and running, and with the whole moving process, I did not get a chance to look into the permit details soon enough. My 3 day guarantee expired, and now I cannot get out of the contract.
Spoke with the owner (who when I asked who I was speaking with, said "why does it matter"), who stated to ignore the permit requirements because he's never had any issues within the last 18 years or so. I stated that since I could not meet Williamson county requirements at this time, I wanted to cancel my contract because I was not comfortable ignoring their requirements and just listing representatives that were over 2 hours away as he recommended. He then got upset about our discussion (no yelling, cussing, etc between either of us), and hung up on me.
So now I'm stuck with this contract for 3 years. In hindsight, the only other company I had a chance to speak with before was Fontpoint Security, who offers a 30 day money back guarantee. Even if Fontpoint was also not knowledgeable about the local permits here in Williamson county, I would have still had a LOT more time and been able to cancel my contract. They were $5/month cheaper and that included a free doorbell camera (Securimax cost $150 extra). The only reason I did not go with them, is because they were $50 more upfront out of pocket, and I was happy with our service to date with the sales representative. Sure wish I would have spent that extra $50 upfront...
I think it's pretty weak Securimax only gives you 3 days to figure everything out. Would not and will not recommend. You should have more than 3 days to decide if you like an alarm system. Feel free to contact me with any questions. read more
