Oh do I love it here. It's a simple place that's kept nice and clean. Why do I like it here? I can sit here for hours and do my work and actually focus!!! I enjoy the cafe americano here which is the perfect high caffeine jolt I need to kick start my work mode. You can request to have this in a mug instead of the paper cup; somehow coffee always tastes better in a real cup. I had a sip of my friends blueberry coffee. I normally would never even go near something as tainted as a blueberry coffee but I was pleasantly surprised by the subtle flavor. I'm not sure I would forgo my americano, but it was good. Came here twice on our vacation! This little coffee shop is so cute, very open atmosphere! Their coffee is delicious, and their salmon on toast is AMAZING. We also tried a couple of their breakfast sandwiches, everything was on point. Will definitely be back again if we are ever in town! read more

Second state is one of my top go-to coffee shops in Charleston. I love their brown sugar latte and am pretty sure their syrups are made in house. The string lights at the Mt. Collective has rebranded to Second State. First, the coffee is excellent. Second, the service is excellent. However, the coffee and service were never at issue. The menu is pricey and that has not changed. The acoustics are harsh which has worsened with the addition of hard, uncomfortable seating. I wanted to linger but could not hear my friend across our own table so grabbed a to go cup. Worse, the line is awkward and is designed to move you through a small retail space (where the couch-- the best seat at Collective-- used to be) with shelves full of branded merchandise. If I wanted to be herded through the upsell section I would go to Starbucks. read more

Went to this yuppie coffee shop this morning. Should have stuck to dunkin donuts. The orange juice was almost a week out of code. Tested horrible. You should know better that you're customers don't need to look at the expiration dates in items in your cooler. Cold brew tasted gross. Here's to hoping the muffin isn't 5 days off and actually edible. I will be calling later for a full refund. Update : the muffin was only 3-4 days old tops. Still not good. Visited this little coffee shop on my way home from the beach with a friend. Heard excellent reviews from some locals so I decided to stop in. I was not disappointed! The general location of the shop gave me the feeling that this spot would be more generic, but the atmosphere proved to be quite eclectic. Simple, clean furniture with edgy, yet well-known music playing. I ordered a latte with oat milk and it was delicious! The barista was helpful and nice. Good coffee, absolutely... cute interior, check... I just can't with this place. It's too much everything cool, hip and current. I popped in on a Tuesday morning in an attempt to shake up my normal work from home routine and it didn't fit for me. The coffee and service were excellent - however, it was just a little too bustling to focus or relax. What's that you say? I sound like a cranky old hag? Oh please, I'm giving them four stars and saying it's just not my style. I guess I'm just more of a "diner gal" whatever that means. Great coffee shop! Nice and open vibe and plenty of seating. I really like this place for grabbing a latte and doing some work out of the office. They are pretty friendly and my coffee order is always spot on. They latte is always frothed so well and you can tell they don't rush your drink out. They have killer breakfast sandwiches to! The bread is so fluffy and fresh, cheese is yummy and gooey, and the egg is light and fluffy. Not your run of the mill coffee shop breakfast sandwich here. My wife LOVES this Chai tea Latte. She and I agree it's definitely one of the best chai teas you can get in Charleston. They have another location in downtown off king, just as good. Never would have found this coffee shop without the Yelp app- it's tucked away in a grocery plaza, not visible from the road. Even so, I had some difficulty finding it. CCC is a modern-style shop with working space, patio seating, and professional service. Barista was knowledgeable about drinks and helpful about suggesting a particular pour-over, and it was pretty good. Other reviews reference the great food, but no menu was offered and there was little on display at 10AM, so come early if you're hoping for the pimento cheese biscuit or avocado toast. read more

Great coffee shop in Mount Pleasant. They carry Second State's coffee (formerly black tap) and the baristas are very well trained. But I think the thing that makes them stand out from any other coffee shop in Charleston or many of the coffee shops I've been to around the country for that matter, is the quality of the food they have. Used to be Collective Coffee Co but is now under new ownership with Second State and rebranded with an owl logo. Regardless, the menu has not changed from what i can tell. Coffee is still as delicious as always but expensive as others have mentioned. They have only one size for latte, around 12oz, and that's $4.50. Flavors include lavender, vanilla, mocha and honey. Honey has always been by go to because it is just so good, but lavender is also great. Haven't tried any of the food but it always looks delicious. Cafe has been packed every time I've been so definitely a popular spot in Mt Pleasant. read more

Absolutely love their coffee and food but unfortunately no one is wearing masks. I gave them 3 tries during COVID and every time the same thing happened. No seated customers were wearing masks despite not eating anything, kitchen staff in the back were not wearing masks (there's a window to see back), and counter staff only pulled their masks up when they saw me walk in with a mask on. The counter staff also proceeded to remove their masks again after I placed my order. It also seems silly that they're now selling masks but not actually wearing them?? It's such a shame because I really LOVE their products, just wish I felt safer going there!! read more

Collective Coffee is totally my jam. It has an inviting atmosphere and great coffee. I just enjoy coming here to work in the afternoon. Mornings tend to have a lot of mothers with crying babies around so not quiet the atmosphere I'm looking for when I want to crank out some work. Best time would be after 1:30 if you wanna have a decent conversation or just chill with a coffee. All the coffees that they make here are amazing. The regular coffee really gives me a boost to start my day and stay focused over the course of my work day. For lunch you have a wide variety of sandwiches (love the avocado spread with evoo!), salad and sandwiches. The menu is simple which makes alle the food extra fresh. Service isn't always as friendly but I feel that comes with the theme of the place and can sometimes be slow. When it comes to work enviroment, They have superfast internet that doesn't seem to slow down, even when there's a ton of people in. read more

After spending six dollars on a latte, I tried to open my computer to start doing the work I had to come to do. Unfortunately all three of their WiFs were not working and the staff simply said sorry about that you can try and fix it yourself by googling a bunch of things. I did not have time for this as I have a lot of work to do which is why I came to the coffee shop in the first place. Would never recommend to anyone who is trying to accomplish anything. This is the type of place that makes me wish I drank more coffee. I met someone for a meeting here mainly because I hadn't been yet. Tucked away in a supermarket plaza is this relaxing oasis of a coffee shop perfect for self reflection or a group meeting at the communal table. I chose a grey tea over ice and sipped on that throughout my meeting. Although I'm no coffee connoisseur, I have had my fair share of teas and this was one I would definitely be back for. Ethan had a cappuccino that was smooth and captured all of the elements of the espresso. I had a Kalita pour over of the Kenya Kamavindi. Tasting notes were blackberry, currant, and citrus. I recently got to go back to Collective to try a pour over coffee. I wasn't disappointed! I even drank it black with just a little sugar which for me is unheard of! The coffee, a Columbian blend, was fruity and smooth. I sat and stayed awhile, working on some projects for work. Their wifi is significantly faster than another mainstream coffee establishments that shall not be named. My only real beef with this place is their lighting...or lack there of. It is very dark in there, to the point of annoyance and the fact that they aren't open past 5 so 9-5ers like me can't really enjoy Collective other than the weekend which is a huge bummer. The staff here are very nice and helpful. Coffee is very good and the breakfast sandwiches are full of wonderful surprises. I ordered a coffee and honey bacon, egg(2) on a Pamento cheese biscuit. The folks from the recently closed Hope & Union are at it again with their newest venture, Collective Coffee. We java loving kids in Mt. Pleasant need this place and I really hope it's hear to stay. The very open and rustic spot sits in a shopping area off of Shelmore. Oddly placed, yes, but hopefully Collective will bring the business out there. They've got that hipster vibe and many of the employees seem to be in their young 20s, if that. They're all really friendly and love helping you decide on what to order. After having been open for just a week, my friend Danielle and I went in pretty much exclaiming how excited we were for them to open. The two of us have enough energy as it is, so we opted for sandwiches instead of espresso. I had the veggie wrap that was dressed with a brown butter viniagrette - ohhh my goodness, yum. Danielle had the turkey croissant which was equally delicious. As we were eating, one of the baristas brought us two espressos on the house.
