After calling numerous tree services in town and getting no response, a friend gave us the name of Graham Charles and Second Nature. He not only answered when I called, but came out the next day to give and estimate. He was scheduling work one month out, and he and his crew showed up right at 8AM, ready to work. In the course of 6.5 hours, they trimmed 5 huge liquid ambers (40 feet), a mimosa, and did minor "clean up" on 3 other trees. They were fast, efficient, and for the amount if foliage removed, incredibly clean. When they left, the place looked great! Reasonable prices, good, friendly crew, great results! read more

We recently had them remove 15 trees on our private lane and when they removed the stumps they cut (multiple times) our electricity line. The meter/breaker box were 2 feet from the cut--never received a call asking if they should proceed. Then we got the repair bill from the electrician for $1,000. They said they would sue us if we didn't pay the entire bill immediately. I thought we might split the repair bill but they once again gave us 24 hours to pay our invoice in full or they would sue us. We will never use Second Nature again. read more

Owner is completely rude and unprofessional. Feel bad for workers and customers that he treats like trash. Do not deal with this company unless you want to deal with several add on charges, sloppy work, and complete disrespect for customers. We had work done at property in Sonoma and there left huge mess and wanted almost double what the initial estimate was. After dealing with this it left a sour taste in my mouth. I wasn't going to leave review because the owner (Grahm) seems horribly unstable and I never wanted to deal with him again. Graham at second Nature tree service stood out among the competitors. I had a large tree that needed removal, and after about Six estimates, Graham not only had the best price, but I felt the best about him. I wasn't even there when he and his crew did the work, but by the time I got back, the gigantic tree was just gone and the only evidence I could find was a small amount of saw dust, and this tree was growing over my house, solar panels, and inside a rock wall inside the pool deck, so there were many things to break. DO NOT contact this company, they will NOT honor agreement!! I booked with Graham over one month out and the day of the work (7/2) he does not show. I call his cell and no answer. Five minutes later a woman calls me from the "office" (Cici, I believe his wife) and says Graham will not be coming. I am not normally a review-leaver, but this company impressed me so much. They were very efficient and affordable, given how large my tree is. Both of my neighbors had used them and gave them the thumbs-up. I have a massive oak tree that was really bushy and overgrown. My main concern was that they wouldn't cut enough off, but the two guys up in the tree had great judgement about what to cut and leave. Now I just love looking out into my backyard and seeing my big happy oak, and the sky through it! (See after photo; wished I would have taken a "before"). Four guys did the whole job and were done by lunch, and did a very thorough clean-up as well (I was especially impressed with this; I thought there might be debris around afterwards). Getting the quote from Graham was easy and pleasant, he is very friendly and outgoing, and upfront about price. They were also able to get me on the calendar fairly quickly. After one informative and encouraging talk with Graham, I've gotten no response to around 5 messages on text and voicemail. The two last ones asked that he just let me know if he was too busy...nothing back. Friends think he's terrific; he seemed like a wise, practical, efficient guy who did great work; but this no-response has delayed my yard progress for a good two weeks as I kept thinking he'd respond any day now. Well, after reading the reviews and also getting a referral from a mutual client, I decided to give Graham and Second Nature a try to remove our blighted ornamental pear tree. My husband and I met with him for a price. He quoted $250 to remove the tree and another $100 to remove the stump. Graham and his crew proceeded to remove the tree, said they couldn't get the stump out and then asked for $350. When my husband told him we had agreed to $250 for the tree removal alone, Graham told him "No, the price is $350." Then he and his crew proceeded to leave the biggest mess on our patio for my husband to clean up. If hubby had not cleaned up immediately our huge concrete patio would have had massive pear fruit stains on it forever. Graham and his crew left our entire side concrete walkway with permanent stains that will not come out. I will never hire his company again. Not only was he dishonest about the pricing, but he seemed to think that clean up was our responsibility. Never again..... read more

Graham and his team have worked on my trees several times over the years and in the past I found them responsible and professional. However, I just experienced the worst, unprofessional service ever. I am dumbfounded. After giving me a quote and having me wait 3.5 months to do some tree trimming (light work 1/2 day) I was called the day prior (not by Graham whom I know) but by a person in his office that the guys were NOT coming as his guys did not want to work for me as they did not like working for me. She mentioned that they had dinner with the team the night prior and the guys said they didn't want to work at my house and I would need to find someone else. How unprofessional.. 1. Graham should have called me personally to discuss; 2. In what other organizations do staff tell their boss they won't work somewhere? 3. I waited 3.5 months for his available date and I am cancelled the night prior and now as trees have budded I need to delay trimming for a year. I was not told anything other than I was difficult and the guys wouldn't work for me. That is a first!! Oddly, I actually helped his team last time they were at my home. I carried the cuttings to the chipper and helped them clean and fed them and gave them drinks. Apparently, my problem was actually working along side them as that made them uncomfortable. I did mention to Graham that they stopped and took cigarette breaks whenever he left the site. So if you are going to have them work on your trees, do not help them, do not pay attention to how lazy they are when Graham is not around and definitely don't tell Graham that they stop working when he leaves.... most importantly do not rely on them to follow through and be professional. This is the first (and hopefully last) review I ever write on yelp. I felt compelled to write as I am frankly so very disappointed in Graham and his lack of professionalism. Don't want others to wait 3.5 months and then have him cancel the day prior because of staff whining. so very unprofessional. follow up... I called Graham to ask him about the issues his team had with me and he confirmed that his team was refusing to work for me because I had told Graham that they quit working when he left the premises... I recently hired Second Nature Tree Service which included very knowledgeable and informative Graham, the owner, and his very experienced crew to take down a number of trees and prune my back patio area, another 9 trees. They did an amazing job. They arrived each day exactly at 8am and Graham discussed each tree, offering valuable information, upon which we were able to make educated decisions. The entire crew was organized and worked diligently as a team. And, if more direction was needed, Graham was always there to instruct and/or supervise. Graham kept his appointment for our free estimate (which was very reasonable) got back to us when promised, showed up on time and our trees look professionally pruned. And, our place was continuously being raked and blown as they worked... very little for us to do when they finished. Today I had three sick White Birch trees removed. I hate losing trees but these really needed to go. Graham, Arborist and owner, took time to brief me on these trees, why it would be better to take them out as well as gave a very fair removal price. I also have several trees along the fence line that needed some trimming. Graham and his crew were outstanding. They cleaned up debris as they worked, the teamwork was like a dance. I have not dealt directly with Second Nature tree service, but they were doing some "common area" work in my neighborhood, taking down a massive tree across the street. I found Mr. Charles and his entire crew to be professional and polite. The tree work was impeccably done and Graham even expressed sadness over the loss of a fledgling in a nest that was too high up for anyone to see. I recently hired Graham Charles of Second Nature Tree Service to chip up a pile of tree branches and leaves that I had assembled in my front yard in the Diamond A home development in Sonoma, California. I had previously taken advantage of a free county service that chipped up two large piles of tree limbs and leaves. When I compared the free service with that provided by Mr. Graham for the sum of $300.00, I was greatly disappointed in the job that Mr. Graham did for me. The chips and leaves were coarser and Graham and his crew did a poor job of cleanup and placement of the pile compared to the previous free service. I was particularly unhappy with the lack of professionalism displayed by Mr. Graham and his crew since he charged $300.00 for a little over 30 minutes on site time.
