We attended a wedding at Secluded Garden Estates. It is a huge, multi-level property in beautiful surroundings. We parked in the dirt lot just beyond the entrance and followed the path to an upper grassy area that was set up for the wedding. There was an arch for the bride and groom to stand beneath with spectacular mountain views behind them. After the ceremony we were directed up the hill, then down a flight of concrete stairs to a lower yard. There was an in-ground swimming pool with an attached hot tub. The pool was old enough that it had a diving board. The water in the pool was blue, but the hot tub was rust colored. It looked as though that pool hadn't been used in quite some time and needed some TLC. Just beyond the pool was a lawn where the cocktail hour was held for guests as the wedding party was having photos taken. No chairs, just a few tables to stand at and set your drink down. They also provided an archway with beautiful views behind it for photo-ops. When the cocktail hour ended, we were led down yet another dirt path to a very large grassy area where the reception was held. (It was where the bathrooms were too). Plenty of room for tables and chairs. On one end was a large dancefloor. Strings of patio lights provided subtle lighting and the views were fantastic. The pathways, staircase and grass areas were, at times, a bit precarious, especially for those wearing heels. The road to the venue is a couple of miles of two-lane, winding curves off of highway 76. Cel service is sketchy - People with Verizon as their carrier seemed to have pretty good service. If you plan to Uber/Lyft out, book in advance. If you are looking for an outdoor venue for your wedding, I would reccommend that you consider Secluded Garden Estates. The inland hills and valleys between Temecula and Pala are the perfect locations for day trips to wineries, between casinos (in this case Pochanga and Pala are close by) or get married with mountains as scenic backdrop. That's where this fantastic venue shines! My partner in art for over 15 years and I were wisecracking the entire way there. He had done the engagement pictures for the young couple but I was going in blind although some pictures on Yelp were useful for the general setting. Upon arrival we found the wedding planner, Josh, to be upbeat and positive. By the end of the evening his organization skills left me full of appreciation- weddings and potentially like handling unstable explosives but as near as I could tell the only delay wasn't his fault. Two bungalows provide space for the groom and groomsmen and (larger of course) a nice dressing room for brides to be. This particular entourage was 6-7 on each side. Long story short, the rolling hill the grounds lie upon create a surprisingly fantastic palette for photographs and creativity. Some parts are forested with wonderful creeping vines or even an antique tractor as props. The wedding spot has a commanding view of the mountains, the path down leads alternately to the tent for the reception, or a slight divergence over to a dedicated cocktail and appetizer green with gamez to entertain old and young alike. The whole operation left me hoping to land more gigs here in the future. I found my usual penchant for spontaneous composition given light and landscape led to a pleasant day making a special occasion memorable for another happy couple. read more

We got married here in September. I wish I could give this review a 4.5, but here's our pros and cons. Pros: beautiful location! The guys help with parking, which is a plus. The venue is stunning. Even during the hot summer, there was a perfect breeze and our guests stayed cool. Lighting here is also beautiful. The dance floor is beautiful too, overlooking the mountain view. I just truly can't get over how beautiful this venue is - seriously, check out the venue for the views alone. Cons: Emily was taking pictures during our ceremony. But, some guests had trouble finding the venue (I suggest getting balloons or something, definitely include a map on the wedding website). You have to be out of the bridal suite early (I believe 6pm) with all of your belongings. The bridal suite was cool, but definitely not AC'd. No AC in the grooms room, but there was a large fan. Secluded Garden Estate was the perfect space for our wedding! As big outdoor adventurers, we knew we wanted our wedding to be held somewhere with lots of greenery, natural beauty, open space, and expansive views, though it was also important to us that our venue be easily accessible for our guests and that everyone felt comfortable throughout the whole day. With Secluded Garden's close proximity to Temecula, our guests had a variety of accommodations to choose from for their stay over our wedding weekend, as well as plenty of different activities to keep them busy. The grounds at Secluded Garden are magical, plus well-maintained and well lit so everyone was comfortable walking the pathways between ceremony and reception. I'm sure they do a lot to prevent mosquitos, etc. from becoming unwanted guests, because no one got bitten! Shoutout to the guests' reception bathrooms as well, they were definitely cleaner and better maintained than at other outdoorsy venues we visited. Not only is Secluded Garden a gorgeous space, but it is also a DIY venue that requires the couple to arrange for all their vendors themselves - This is exactly what we were looking for and allowed us to build our wedding day to be just as we wanted it! Talk about a magical venue!!! I had my wedding here recently and it was an absolute dream come true. The venue is gorgeous itself, especially with the incredible views, so we barely had to do any extra decorating. Emily, the owner, was such a pleasure to work with, and Josh McBride, our coordinator, was AMAZING. I wish I could give more than 5 stars. We had our wedding here a few weeks ago and it turned out ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. Josh was our coordinator and did an amazing job. He helped with ANYTHING we needed, starting many months before our wedding. So much goes into planning a wedding, and so much can go wrong. He made sure everything turned out exactly how it was supposed to. All of our guests are still commenting about how picture perfect this venue is and how well everything was put together. First off, let me say that the venue is absolutely gorgeous. We love how the ceremony site and the reception site were separate, and the views and weather were perfect. It is the perfect backdrop for beautiful pictures and ambiance and our guests loved it. On the negative side, however, there were some "behind the scenes" problems that, luckily, our guests did not experience. First of all, the groom's room smelled strongly of urine. We mentioned it to Emily when we visited a few weeks before our event and were promised that it would be taken care of. Well, it wasn't. It smelled so bad that our groomsmen had to stand outside of the room. When we mentioned it again, we were told they did what they could but we did not see any improvement. The bridal suite also had a smell of urine, but not as bad. I know there were animals on the premises, so I'm not sure if that's where it came from, but it was unbearable. Both the bridal suite and groom's room were very hot. There is no air conditioning and it's very hot in Temecula in the summer. It made the urine smell even that much with no ventilation or breeze. Secondly...they are very very inflexible with their rules and regulations and many of them seem ridiculous. There are too many to mention, but there is a charge for absolutely everything. If you are even one minute late at getting out, they will charge you. If you do decide to have an event here, read the contract very carefully...many parts are ambiguous and it is confusing. The hours that you can have access to the venue are also limited. Because the people live on the property, they do not want to be disturbed. You are unable to get on the property until 10:00 am...which is late when you have an early afternoon wedding. They will also not allow vendors to arrive early unless you use the ones they recommend. There were many wonderful things about this venue, but I would not recommend it. It caused us a lot of frustration. read more

Had our wedding here in October of 2012. This place is fantastic for great landscaping and value, but if anything goes wrong be prepared for poor customer service. We had a wedding here and unfortunately rain was predicted the last minute. Literally, the weather service increased the chance of rain from 10% to 50% the day of - horrible luck for southern california. Because of the rain, we had to setup a tent on the day of. Unfortunately, since the venue is a side business for the property owners they have a policy of not being disturbed before 10am. This meant that we couldn't organize the tenting until than. The tenting wasn't expected to be finished until 5pm and the reception was scheduled for 5pm! Nothing could be moved back under the tent until it was finished being erected. This put a huge strain on the the wedding party and all the other vendors. The tenting vendor, my crew and the bridal party came through at the zero hour of getting things ready but the stress could have been completely avoided if the property owners were more responsive; the extra 2-3 hours would have easily saved us the anxiety and stress. Wedding services is an industry that has to be customer service oriented since it is a huge event in someones life. It was disappointing to find out that sleeping in was more important than the clients for these property owners. I will give them the benefit of the doubt that their service will improve if it ever rains again since our wedding was the first tent ever pitched on their property. Lastly, email responses have taken 16 days to get back to me in some cases (for deposit refund). Also, do not go with their recommended "Day of Coordinators". Their recommended "best" was absolutely dreadful - Tamra (Tammy) Francis. All the vendors and my bridal party complained of her for her lack of work ethic, inability to prioritize and manage. This was most likely due to her inexperience. There was also a conflict of interest in that she worked for the property owners and prioritized their needs instead of ours. Stay away! Overall, if it didn't rain, the only complaint I would have would be there coordinator recommendation and email responsiveness. read more

We got married here 3 months ago and I still can't get over how beautiful and perfect it was! Emily and her husband were amazing and very accommodating. There are a few reasonable restrictions on the contract but as long as you follow them there should be no problems. I was able to have the wedding of my dreams with the man of my dreams for a very affordable price! Even now, I still have not seen any other venue where I would have picked over Secluded Garden Estate. Cons: Owner can be hard to get ahold of Pros: EVERYTHING ELSE. This is a delight, secret gem in the San Diego county area. Not only is it beautiful (garden on a mountain top!) but they allow you to bring your own vendors. We really wanted to incorporate the food from my culture and were able to do so because of this wonderful, flexible venue. We were able to customize our wedding to reflect our personalities perfectly. We had parking attendants and a great parking lot for guests. For elderly or handicapped guests they provided a golf cart for easy transportation. Could not recommend more! 10/10! read more

The venue is absolutely BEAUTIFUL and you don't even need a lot of decor because the beauty is in the place itself. In an area with a sea of very pricey wedding venues this was totally a breath of fresh air! It is not only absolutely gorgeous but very affordable compared to the surrounding venues. The views are breath-taking and it is typically cooler than Temecula (very nice during the summer). Beware that is does get windy so keep that in mind as far as decor goes. Also, the name "Secluded" is very fitting as it is easy for guests to miss! I highly recommend putting signs out on the road or using balloons to draw your guests attention. Emily (the owner) was very responsive (mostly over email) and made the process as stress-free as planning a wedding can be! Also notable is that you can bring in all your own vendors! read more

I AM EXTREMELY furious with the customer service provided by this venue . My fiancée and I were due to get married their last year in June and due to financial issues we had to cancel our wedding . We had already paid the deposit and more . Due to cancellation I understand the venue keeps the deposit but the remaining balance gets refund back to the customer . It's been over 2 weeks in which I spoke to someone and they stated my " refund check " has already been sent out ( FYI they only send a check by mail for refund no cash ) . Two weeks pass , nothing . After calling numerous times and no answer I get a response back thrue email ( not a call ! ) where the person I spoke to tells me " your check got sent out today " . Which I was told it was sent out TWO WEEKS AGO ! Ok ... I keep my calm and wait yet again . 2-3 days pass and nothing . I call them and nothing , I email and no response. At this point my fiancée and I are at the point that we are going to drive up their and DEMAND for our money back . This is RIDICULOUS they can sure as Hell take your money quick but when it comes to returning your money they make you go thrue HELL . We are in need of that money it's a few hundred dollars and they are very inconsiderate of the situation. I do not recommend this place it is beautiful but not worth going thrue issues like this if you choose to cancel I can only imagine what other issues I would've had down the line . read more

Everything about this venue was absolutely perfect! My new husband and I got married 3/11/17 and keep hearing from our guest how beautiful the venue was and of coarse the rest of our vendors. Photos turn out wonderful from the dance floor and by the parking lot. The large rocks with a forrest feel to the green grass surrounded by flowers gives this venue a feeling of different locations all in one. Emily and her husband own it with workers on site Makena & Josh and there all wonderful! Josh stayed on site while the wedding happened and was a ball of fun with getting ppl to dance on group dancing songs to making things go smoothly. While Makena helps on the prep work of responding to emails and giving assistance where needed. Emily works during the week and makes things and expectations very clear which for organized ppl like me that ask a million questions makes it easy. My business partner and I coordinated and designed a wedding at Secluded Garden Estate this June. While this venue is well landscaped, and has potential to be the backdrop for a beautiful wedding, the owners/management are not well organized. In addition, we were obligated to select from a list of preferred vendors, most of which were not familiar with the specifics of the venue. The on-site security guard they provided was unprofessional and approached me with parking issues while I was in the middle of speaking with wedding guests. We had issues with the valet they provided, who showed up in shorts and neon sunglasses. He then proceeded to sit down by the designated parking area, and waited for guests to walk to him with their keys. When we addressed this issue with the owner/venue manager Emily, she claimed that his behavior was professional and polite. We beg to differ. Secondly, we paid an additional fee to have the chairs moved from the ceremony area by the pool to the reception location below. As a coordinator, I can usually feel confident that when I pay an additional fee for something as basic as moving chairs, it will get done in a timely fashion and without any complications. Once again, we were mistaken in our trust. The chairs were moved to the reception area, but some of them were stacked on the ground while other were leaned against the tables. At this point the DJ and wedding guests assisted me in setting up reception seating for over 100 guests. We did address this issue with Emily after the wedding, and her response was that we should have let her know then and there, which she pointed out was our job as coordinators. Yes, our job as coordinators is to manage, oversee, and ensure that the event is a memorable experience for all guests attending. As wedding professionals know, it is of the essence to adhere to a timeline and make sure to stay on track. Due to this, I did not have the time to come find Emily to deal with this issue. We have worked with many different venues in the past, and the responsibility of the venue manager was to ensure that their responsibilities were well taken care of. They did not wait for a coordinator to point out that something was not happening according to plan. When we delegate a task to another professional, we rely on their expertise and do not expect to have to supervise their every move to ensure successful completion of the task. This is a venue that's lends itself to a budget wedding, but does not offer the customer service or preferred vendors to ensure a successful and memorable event without any complications. read more

I really am rather confused by some of the other reviews listed here...I got married here last year and absolutely LOVED it. Secluded Garden Estate came on the recommendation of another friend who'd gotten married there the year before who'd loved it as well, so while on a trip down to Temecula where I was checking out all the wineries as possible wedding locations, we swung by Secluded Garden Estate. Because the price was much better than most other places we saw for a much better deal and a lot more room for creativity and our personal touch, we decided to go with it. Without question, S.G.E. ended up being a MUCH better and unique choice than any of the nearby venues. We loved coming here because the wineries all had a super commercial, pre-packaged factory vibe where you were likely to run into other weddings on the same day and you had to use their mediocre caterers and drink their wine (which, let's be honest, in Temecula, is just 'meh'). In other words, many venues border on cheesy, or at best, dull. Because we were very picky about the level & type of food, wine, and decor that we wanted, S.G.E. was perfect-- they allowed us to bring in our own caterer (we used Heirloom LA for all farm-to-table, locally grown/organic delicious food) and designed everything ourselves-- from the signature drinks to our decor, to our locations. The only vendor SGE required us to use was their equipment rentals place, Premier Party Rentals, which we were happy to use as they were lovely to deal with and very affordable. And Emily and her staff were awesome -- super helpful, always responsive, willing to go out of their way, and warm and welcoming in every visit we made to the property before the wedding and on the day of. Quite honestly, I would not consider the big venues/wineries to have "flawless customer care," as another reviewer said, but I'd say Emily and her staff came pretty damn close. Our wedding was gorgeous, and SGE made sure everything was perfect on the day of... our ceremony in the greenhouse area, our cocktail hour by the pool overlooking the gorgeous cliffs, and best of all, our family-style supper under the twinkling market lights on the cliffside lawn. All of it was charming and chic and tasteful. Emily lent us some furniture for free, took care of all the set up/break down with her staff (for a low fee), drove our elderly guests around in a golf cart, and was there to answer any questions or needs we had. She handled our very needy caterer with grace and patience, she handled the guest parking situation. She even sent us a CD with hi-res photos she had taken--many of them candid and rivaling the professional ones we got. Almost every one of our guests remarked how beautiful and unique of a venue it was, and marveled that we found something so secluded with a breathtaking view. All our wedding photos, taken on the lawn and in the forest surrounding the estate, look magical...so magical we were featured on a very popular wedding blog. Best of all, it was all insanely affordable! So, really, I'm shocked at some of the other reviews here and felt I had to pipe up. Yes, it rains sometimes, and yes, any business has closing hours. Unexpected things always happen on wedding days (my brother broke his nose, there was a heat wave, and my bridesmaid was sick), but I would in no way consider any of those the fault of the venue. If you want a factory-churned wedding, sure -- go to the wineries. But if you want a memorable, one-of-a-kind wedding that you can cater to your every preference and that all your guests will love, then by all means, Secluded Garden Estate is your spot. read more

Synopsis: Overall beautiful place to have a wedding. Totally unique and our guests had a great time. The venue offers a lot of room for you to create your wedding and the freedom to choose your own vendors. Do keep in mind that it is out doors and a private residence, not a big business (eg winery, hotel) so you may not get that flawless customer care you may be hoping for. We had our wedding ceremony and reception here on 06/14/2013. We were looking for a location that was private and somewhere we could have both the ceremony and reception. Overall it was a good fit. The surrounding mountainous area is beautiful and provides a wonderful backdrop. The property is large and has multiple levels that give you different ceremony location options. We liked that Secluded Gardens did not have too many stipulations pertaining to vendors and other bizarre rules. We found that some venues required you to use their vendors. Other than the rental company we were free to choose our own vendors. Secluded Gardens does require you to have a wedding coordinator. You're probably going to need one anyway. We had our wedding on a Friday evening and felt the price was fair (note it was mentioned that the price would be increasing). Keep in mind that it is an outdoor venue. All the elements of being outdoors is something to consider. We underestimated how windy it would get as well as how it can get surprisingly cold after the sun sets. As I mentioned this is a large multiple level property so any elderly, handicapped, or any persons with mobility issues are probably going to have difficulty moving around this place. Secluded Gardens does offer a golf cart to help transport these persons but you may want to let them know what to expect ahead of time. Overall Emily and her staff were helpful, though we were disappointed that the refrigerator was not ready for use even after reminding her the day before to turn it on. It created an issue of having to find another place to store items that needed to stay cool or frozen. Also I was a little disappointed I had to ask for my deposit back rather that it be automatically given back to me on time as the contract stated. Though this is a private residence we were a little turned off finding dog poo in the grassy areas as we set up the day before. Generally I like the venue but if they want to take it to the next level they need to step it up a little bit. On a better note we were impressed one of the staff members (the young man) stayed late and helped us clean up. If you asked me if I would recommend Secluded Gardens I would say yes, just understand it's a private residence. Beautiful venue! Hiring our own vendors truly allowed us to craft our wedding to reflect who we are. The space lend itself to our style which was whimsical, rustic, and laid-back casual at the same time. Our 120 guests fit perfectly. Everything was green and gorgeous this Spring. Emily is accommodating and pretty flexible. She honored all of our agreements (be sure to email). There aren't a lot of rules but she expects them to be followed. I highly recommend hiring a wedding planner to understand your vision for all 3 spaces (ceremony, cocktail and reception) and coordinate everything in order for your event to go smoothly. We did just that and it was well worth it. A day-of coordinator is actually a requirement to rent the venue which is totally understandable. Visit the site! It's not the same in pictures. read more

I've heard awesome comments about this place, mainly that it's the perfect venue especially if you are looking for something beautiful and inexpensive. I've also heard that this venue is great for DIY weddings which is something I am very interested in doing, however; I have been trying since May to schedule a tour and have yet seen the place. I contacted the venue on several occasions via email and phone, leaving several messages and voicemails. The first email I sent through their website and got a timely reply from Emily. Her email was very professional and informative, giving me very detailed information on pricing, guest info, etc. The email also explained that I could call and set an appointment for a tour... I seriously love Emily and her husband! They are so sweet and their property is amazing. I have not had my wedding there yet, I will be getting married in August of 2015 so I will post an updated review once I do. This review is for what I have experienced so far. I booked my wedding date with Emily over a month ago and I'm excited to be getting married there! I have already been there 3 times to tour the property and I've had no problems at all booking the appointments to do so. The property itself is simply amazing. You and your guests have to be prepared to walk in grass and along an uneven dirt path if you are getting married here but it's worth it for the beauty and goes with the outdoor/garden feel. They also said they would provide a golf cart for elderly/disabled guests to get them around which is really nice. You are allowed to choose all of your own vendors (expect for table/chair rentals) which is really helping us keep to our budget. It does seem like a bit a work on the actual wedding day since you have to have everything cleaned out by 11:30 so make sure you enlist extra help and a day of coordinator. Our daughter discovered this location and it turned out to be one of the most beautiful receptions I have ever attended. We have 45 nieces & nephews and have attended more wonderful wedding receptions over the years then most people attend in a lifetime and our family members raved. This spot was as good if not better then most of the Temecula wine country location that cost 3 - 4 times as much. We had 200 guests and there was no problem with space or parking. The staff was extremely accommodating from start to finish. It was 100 degrees the day of the wedding and when our reception started at 4PM the sun was almost completely blocked out by the trees and with a slight breeze I didn't even have to take my suit coat off. read more

My sister had a wedding at this location and for me it was a horrible experience, one of the workers ran into the back of my car and caused damage to my car. The driver was a sixteen year old kid who I am sure was not covered pulled out money and tried to pay me $600.00 for the damages. When they were contacted by my insurance company they totally lied and said we backed into each other. They refused to take any blame for the damages to my car. Because of their poor business etiquette I will not do business with them, nor would I recommend this place to anyone. The customer service is horrible and very unprofessional. Now I have to take these bums to court and recoup my money I had to pay out of pocket. Besides the unfortunate incident I was not impressed. Too many hills and is not a place for high heels too much dirt and the parking sucks real bad. Don't waste your money. read more

Attended a wedding here and was not happy with the safty hazards. My daughter was the flower girl and the steps she had to walk down were very steep with no handrails. The edge of the ceremony litterally drops off to a cliff with no safety rails and I can't tell you how many times I tripped over sprinkler heads on the reception lawn. read more

My husband and I got married here in August. Let's just say it was beyond our wildest dreams. The grounds are gorgeous and we liked that the venue offered a lot of flexibility. Emily was really helpful however if you expect to have your email answered right away you might be disappointed. We are so glad we chose secluded garden for our big day it really was a fairytale. read more

My wife and I were married here in October of 2015. In looking for a venue we had a few, unique requirements. First, my wife had her heart set on a picnic wedding. Second, I've hated the food at every wedding I've attended and just wanted to cater through a sub shop. Finally, as craft beer geeks, we wanted to bring our own selection of favorite brews. Every other venue my wife and I visited insisted on selling us a package deal - chairs, tables, linens, place settings, salads, entrees, cakes, wines...nothing we needed or even wanted at our wedding! Then we found Secluded Garden Estate. The property had a lovely lawn with a gorgeous view that my wife instantly fell in love with. Moreover, Emily and her husband were renting the venue à la carte: they had no reservations with us bringing our own picnic blankets instead of renting chairs, hiring a local sub shop to cater or serving alcohol brought in from offsite. These freedoms came with a few caveats, namely that we were required to identify a wedding coordinator who would be responsible for the day. We were lucky enough to have a good friend who works as an event coordinator for the city volunteer to help us, and even then we spent a great deal of time and effort making sure everything came together. I should also mention that, if you do need chairs, tables etc. Emily has a partnership with a local rental company that can provide all these things. While it required a little more DIY effort on our part, the freedom we gained from having our wedding at Secluded Garden allowed my wife and I to put together a genuinely special day - something unique to us and our friends and families. I don't think we could have accomplished what we did at any of the other, cookie-cutter package venues. If you're looking for a rugged and beautiful natural venue and want the freedom and the opportunity to make your wedding as unique as you and your fiancé are, then I can't recommend Secluded Garden Estate highly enough. read more
