    Burma Beef

I moved to Seattle two years ago, but this is still my go-to Chinese place whenever I'm back in California! The honey walnut shrimp was the perfect amount of sweet and creamy. Not many restaurants can get the ratio like Season Kitchen does. Burma beef was very crispy and wasn't overly sweet. This was one of the few restaurants opened on Christmas and the staff were so nice despite the influx of hungry customers. They even added small holiday decorations to add to festivities. I can't wait to dine here again the next time I visit California. Remember to support your local small businesses, folks!

    Singapore Style Rice Noodles

Picked up some takeout the other night. Having never been here before, I saw the orange chicken and Singapore noodles were popular choices on Yelp so I got those. My husband loves Peking pork and ordered that with a side of white rice. I thought my orange chicken was good, but since it doesn't come with any sides (not even plain white rice) I got bored of it a few bites in. The Singapore noodles were pretty good. I've never had these styles of noodles before so I didn't know how flavorful they were on their own. Because of their unique curry flavor, it didn't mix with my orange chicken and was better eaten on its own. My husband who loves Peking pork wasn't a fan. He said it wasn't crispy and the flavor lacked dimension. He didn't eat it. I tried it and thought it wasn't too bad, but it also wasn't anything great. Overall, the food was okay. Not bad, but not anything I would be craving to go back for. My interaction with the staff when placing my order over the phone and then picking up was pleasant. They were very kind and friendly. I thought their prices were pretty decent, especially for the amount of food you get. I would try them again, but I would order different items next time.

    Honey walnut shrimp

A group of friends and I decided to try our luck and visited this small Chinese restaurant for lunch. It seemed quiet at first, which did not give the usual rowdy Chinese restaurant feel. However, the nice peaceful and ambient feel was just as comfortable for a chill afternoon. The staff was very pleasant and patient while we were taking a long time being indecisive about what to order. She always made sure we had enough tea and water and checked in often to make sure we were comfortable. We went with orange chicken, mapo tofu, honey walnut shrimp, and a friend rice. The flavors were very balanced and packed just the right punch. Usually when I go eat Chinese food, the flavors are always too salty or too greasy, and I have to drink a lot of water to wash it down. The food here did NOT do that, and I was pleasantly surprised! We really enjoyed the orange chicken because it was perfectly tangy and crispy, but not too sweet or salty. The fried rice came out hot but not greasy, which is appreciated and indicative of real Chinese cuisine and the use of "wok fire." I will definitely come back and try the rest of the menu. It seems like this restaurant has high hopes!

There were few restaurants and no such thing as fast food. Family... This was well before the Pandas of the world, today's fast food, take out evolution and I can't say that it's better other than the variety of Taiwan, Sichuan, Asian fusion highly creative dishes, every type of Chinese food you can think of. But stepping into Rose Garden brings back those past memories, you know the type you forgot about, until a flavor or dish you know the taste of familiarity that brings back good memories. Well ,I have to say Rose Garden is a great place to find Cantonese food at a great price with food that will remind you of family dinners. Our waiterS were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable in their menu options. One of them was super friendly -- maybe even a bit cheeky! -- and he made us feel at home. Second, the ambiance was dinner date night worthy so long as you don't mind a few TVs. They didn't bother us nor was the volume obnoxiously loud. The bar area is fun and modern-looking. Third, ohmygoodness! The food was sooo delicious! The Cantonese-style Seabass paired quite lovely with Shrimp Fried Rice and Combination Veggies!!! The seabass was topped with sliced ginger and onions. It was super tasty! It reminded me of home cooked meals growing up. The shrimp in the fried rice was tender and lighted dusty with some type of flour that made it perfectly crisp. And the combination veggies was perfectly cooked and served in a light sauce! Thing is, I'm not a huge fan of "Asian Fusion" but this place seemed to hit all the boxes for us. Go give Folsom Palace a try! p.s. Each dish was beautifully presented and smelled amazing as they walked up... that I totally forgot to take pictures (lol).

The noodles were flavorful and well-seasoned, the shrimp were cooked perfectly, and the vegetables were fresh. Everything tasted great together. However, for $20, I expected a little more. There were only 4 shrimp in the box, which feels like too little for the price. If they had included at least 6-8 shrimp, it would have been much better. The food is delicious, but the value for the money could definitely be improved.

SoCal and the Bay Area are where it's at for Asian food... and Vancouver!! Okay, sorry, I'm rambling now. Anyways, I'm glad I ventured a little farther out to Folsom to grab some delicious food. Their orange chicken is super flavorful, and I loved that they used real oranges. The Kung Pao chicken is amazing--they include a variety of veggies and squash, which I loved. The beef chow mein was on point as well. The only reason for the 4 stars is that the chow mein was a little too soft (though the flavor was there), and the price felt a bit steep for the portion size. Three orders for $60--eeep! I miss the good ol' days when a whole plate was filled to the rim and overflowing from the to-go box for $12-$15, but it is what it is. Anyways, if you've got the dough, I'd spend it here. Have a great day!

This conclusion is based on five visits over the past year. First off, lunch or dinner finds the restaurant empty or almost empty. Service is basic and feels reluctant. My fav, Crispy Honey Chicken has gone from lightly breaded generous pieces of white meat to heavily breaded and fried hard tiny pieces of mystery meat. I've always loved the Pork Chow Mein but last night our two orders of it had about 4 small pieces of pork and very little vegetables. So, reluctantly I am removing them from my GoTo list.
