I moved to Seattle two years ago, but this is still my go-to Chinese place whenever I'm back in California! The honey walnut shrimp was the perfect amount of sweet and creamy. Not many restaurants can get the ratio like Season Kitchen does. Burma beef was very crispy and wasn't overly sweet. This was one of the few restaurants opened on Christmas and the staff were so nice despite the influx of hungry customers. They even added small holiday decorations to add to festivities. This used to be a decent place, but it has been sold and the new owners haven't a clue as to how to prepare proper Chinese food. I write this as someone who has grown up eating Chinese food all my life, and as someone whose family has owned a Chinese restaurant. Stay away if you value your taste buds! We ordered take-out beef chow fun. Simple enough right? Nope. The noodles were pasty and mushy. Proper chow fun isn't that way. The beef was the texture of shoe leather. It was basically dried out and over-fried. We also had a sparerib dish with a sweet sauce. Again the meat was cooked to the point that there was almost no moisture left. It was like eating jerky. Beef with Chinese broccoli came with western broccoli, not Chinese broccoli as promised. Again the beef was dry and over-fried. The western broccoli was ok, but OMG the MSG level was through the roof! There were some other dishes as well. Every one of them was inedible. I threw it all away rather than subject my kids to this horrible garbage. I then went to In & Out and got them some cheeseburgers since everyone was hungry. And even though I had only tasted a small amount of the broccoli, the MSG was still burning my mouth 45 minutes later. It actually pains me to write this review, since this place USED to be decent. Nice Service, I went there back again to support my local businesses and the atmosphere is still cozy and warm, just how I remembered it. Even though they are not offering dine-in at the moment, I love to come here and sit down to enjoy the food and service. I got the Chicken Chow Mein, Singaporian Style Noodle Stir Fry, General Tso's Chicken (Orange Chicken), and a side of Chinese Broccoli. I love the portion sizes. Food was Great before but now it is even better. As good or better than Chinese food in China Town. Restaurant is under new management but menu changed very little just quality is better. I can't say I have a favorite because every dish I order is a new favorite. Dining room is very small typical of a neighborhood hole in the wall restaurant. They are great for phone orders. Picked up some takeout the other night. Having never been here before, I saw the orange chicken and Singapore noodles were popular choices on Yelp so I got those. My husband loves Peking pork and ordered that with a side of white rice. I thought my orange chicken was good, but since it doesn't come with any sides (not even plain white rice) I got bored of it a few bites in. The Singapore noodles were pretty good. I've never had these styles of noodles before so I didn't know how flavorful they were on their own. Because of their unique curry flavor, it didn't mix with my orange chicken and was better eaten on its own. My husband who loves Peking pork wasn't a fan. He said it wasn't crispy and the flavor lacked dimension. He didn't eat it. I tried it and thought it wasn't too bad, but it also wasn't anything great. Overall, the food was okay. Not bad, but not anything I would be craving to go back for. My interaction with the staff when placing my order over the phone and then picking up was pleasant. They were very kind and friendly. I thought their prices were pretty decent, especially for the amount of food you get. I would try them again, but I would order different items next time. read more

A group of friends and I decided to try our luck and visited this small Chinese restaurant for lunch. It seemed quiet at first, which did not give the usual rowdy Chinese restaurant feel. However, the nice peaceful and ambient feel was just as comfortable for a chill afternoon. The staff was very pleasant and patient while we were taking a long time being indecisive about what to order. She always made sure we had enough tea and water and checked in often to make sure we were comfortable. We went with orange chicken, mapo tofu, honey walnut shrimp, and a friend rice. The flavors were very balanced and packed just the right punch. Usually when I go eat Chinese food, the flavors are always too salty or too greasy, and I have to drink a lot of water to wash it down. The food here did NOT do that, and I was pleasantly surprised! We really enjoyed the orange chicken because it was perfectly tangy and crispy, but not too sweet or salty. The fried rice came out hot but not greasy, which is appreciated and indicative of real Chinese cuisine and the use of "wok fire." I will definitely come back and try the rest of the menu. This was the worst takeout I've ever had. We really enjoyed the food from the previous restaurant that was here so we thought we'd give it a try. We were so sorry we did. The meat in the broccoli beef was grey. The chicken had a fish smell to it. Normally, I lIke ordering a bit extra so I have leftovers. We threw out the food on our plates and all of the leftovers. Even the fortune cookies were disappointing because they were stale and the fortunes had advertisements on them. We hope we don't get food poisoning. I'll update this post if we do. read more

Food was great! The owners of the prior Tsing Tao retired. I was a little nervous being the ONLY person in the place DURING the lunch hour today, but then found out they just opened yesterday. The new owners had a Chinese restaurant in San Francisco, but moved here and bought this location. The menu and sign out front are brand new, but otherwise nothing has changed. (I didn't ask, but maybe they retained the old cooks?) The tables, food, prices, plates, tea, tea pots and everything looks the same. The wait staff is new. They were busy hanging things on the wall when I was there. I was initially sad to see the old owners leave, but seems to be pretty much the same place. I will review again after my next visit, and modify my stars based on being a repeat customer. read more

I have been here at least 5 times hoping that it would be good. The bottom line is that their ingredients are not fresh and each time I order something, I get frustrated with the quality of the food. I loved this place with the previous owners (Tsing Tao). I ordered tofu and it was spoiled. I have ordered broccoli beef and the broccoli is bitter so it's not fresh. Why this place isn't rated five stars is beyond me. It's a small place. But big on authentic Chinese flavor. Best Honey Walnut Shrimp I've ever had and I'm including those high buck San Francisco restaurants on this comparison. Not all goopy with the sauce and the shrimp was firm and not mushy....like I stated, best ever. The service was excellent. My tea cup and water cup never reached empty. The prices were in line and all in all a pleasant surprise considering the location. Oh and the restroom was squeaky clean too. The Gai-lon, was fresh and crisp, the pan fried sole was cooked perfectly.....meat was flaky and tender and the skin flavorful and crispy. I'm telling you this place rocked every dish. We ordered Curry Chicken, Pork Chow Mien and another dish to go. We showed up twenty minutes later and then had to wait another 25 minutes for the food to be ready. There was one couple eating in the restaurant and two ladies waiting for their separate orders up front. I talked with the ladies and they said there had been no one else in the place since they came in to order. One lady was new to the area and the other one had eaten there when it was Tsing Tao. We had all heard the new owner was from San Francisco and had owned a restaurant there. I finally got my order (the ladies were still waiting for theirs). and went home. My wife loves curry of any type and was looking forward to this. Were we disappointed! The curry was almost tasteless, The cook must have forgotten to add any curry mix to the dish when preparing the dish. I must admit I am not a curry fan but will eat it on occasion if it is not too hot. Mt wife said the curry was missing something, Yeah! Like any seasoning at all, I tasted it and I must admit, I have had spicier Cream of Chicken soup from Campbell's. The seasoning must have all gone into the sign out front because there was no seasoning in the curry - absolutely none! The pork chow mien was almost as tasteless and the other dish was equally as forgettable! We threw out the food, it was that bad. I talked to another person in our office complex who had eaten at Tsing Tao for many years and she said she had eaten at Seasons three time after it reopened and the food was bad each time. She thought the first two time, shortly after it opened it was just getting the bugs worked out but after two months and the food had not improved, she said that was enough chances and crossed it off the list until some body else took over that place. So far, I have not found another person who wants to go back here another time. I feel sorry for the owners, they paid a lot for their sign but would have been better off to spend some of the money on spices and cooking lessons! read more

Season Kitchen is the best Chinese place in Granite Bay and Roseville. I consider myself a pro when it comes to chinese food and have tried out all of them around this area. My top two is Seasons and Lotus 8 (on the Folsom side). Of course with all restaurants there are dishes they do really well and others that are just ok. I'll tell you all the great ones I've tried so far and things not on their menu but you can ask them for it. For noodle dishes I would go with the Beef Chow Fun (with gravy), House Special Pan Friend Noodles. For seafood Honey Walnut Pawns -- you can also ask them to switch it to Salted Egg Prawns (not on the menu, but they can do it) which is an acquired taste but once you do it's super yummy. another non menu item is sweet and sour fish fillet, one of my wife's favorite. For Pork, the Salt & Pepper Pork is great. Vegies, Eggplant & Greenbean with Garlic Sauce. Fried rice fans, our favorite is the Yangzhou Friend Rice (wet style) and their house special fried rice. Last, they are one of the few if not only place that serves Chinese porridge which is great on those cold days. The person that works in the front taking orders is Anna. She's super nice. I am happy to have this convenient little Chinese restaurant available for us Granite Bay people. This is in a little strip mall that has a lot of easy parking. We had take out and this was our first time. The owner/employees are very nice and got our order correct with a few requests. We ordered chicken curry, Mongolian beef, mapo tofu and chicken with green beans. I am going to be straight up honest that I have a real problem with the proteins at many Chinese restaurants and this was no exception. The chicken was squeaky and a little hard and the beef was a little soft and rubbery and tasteless. Minus the protein most dishes were done well. The Mongolian beef and peppers and onions were cooked perfectly but was a little bland. The curry chicken (minus the chicken) had a great flavor. The Mapo tofu was delicious and it had ground pork and that was fine. The chicken and green beans (minus the chicken) was cooked perfectly and all the veggies seemed very fresh and flavorful. I definitely want to go back and just realized, although I am not a vegetarian, I should probably order vegetarian dishes to solve this issues. I shall see how that goes down with my husband! The food is really good! They have great hospitality and this restaurant has a wholesome-cozy environment. I went with a group of 5 and we finished 6-7 plates of food, we were very satisfied! If you're not much of a spicy eater but like a little bit of heat then I recommend the general tso chicken dish. If you're vegetarian then they do have vegetarian options. In that case I would recommend the vegetarian moo shu wrap, it was delicious! All the dishes I order was good but my favorite would be the general tso chicken. This place took over what used to be Tsing Tao. It is absolutely awful!!! We had been going to Tsing Tao for years, and it was great food. We called the number for Tsing Tao and got this place, they took over the business but the food is not the same! We ordered bbq pork fried rice and wonton soup. The soup was ok, the meat in the wontons wasn't very good, but the broth was decent. The rice was disgusting! We each had one bite of it and then threw it away. The fried rice had no flavor and the rice itself was gummy and just plain gross! Do not go here! It really is terrible food not worth the money.
