NEW OWNER ALERT! Cockroaches, raw sewage, broken toilets, syringes. Booked 2 bdrm 2 bath beachfront…read more8/24-8/31 for a family reunion at a neighboring hotel. Have been a customer for 17 years as have many family members and friends. Checked in, paid my balance by check and they cashed within an hour. Arrived in room to 2 dead cockroaches and a toilet which wouldn't flush. A live roach runs into bathroom and under sink. Told mgr Lily she called maintenance man who should arrive in hour or two. In the mean time, chased 2-3 other cockroaches killed one. Wife flushed other toilet to see if it worked and it overflowed on to floor and shower backed up spewing sewage. The smell was unbearable. Put down towels called manager she said she'd call plumber now. Went to get a glass in the cupboard and found a glass full of syringes. Obviously this place has not been cleaned. BROKEN TOILETS, LIVE AND DEAD COCKROACHES, RAW SEWAGE,SYRINGES were the issues within the first two hours of our family vacation. Plumber arrived and fixed plumbing. Still nobody cleaned bathroom floor or shower. And it reeked of sewage. We asked if anyone was going to clean up the roaches and the manager finally did. Manager tried to get us to stay with discounts and other rooms but they had nothing comparable and we were disgusted and really couldn't see ourselves staying anywhere in this place. We chased a roach and moved a chest of drawers and found RODENT AND COCKROACH FECES (see photo)Final straw was my son finding roaches climbing up from the drain in the shower into the pan. That's it. We never unpacked so we put everything in the truck and drove 2 hours home. Vacation week ruined. Family reunion ruined. I called the next morning and spoke to Lily and said I was driving down to pick up my refund. She confirmed that I would be getting 100% refund and that the owner was there and valued us as a customer and wanted a second chance. All I wanted was my money back I said. Drove 2 1/2 hours to be greeted by a check for half my total. So they kept $2400. Unbelievable. I will never give uLIARS on top of it Enjoy the photos. I have more and video to be posted. UPDATE. Owner called 9/12 and said he would be sending the balance of the refund. STILL NOTHING. After a month, I received a full refund. Not pleased with what I had to do, and was prepared to do in order to effectuate the full refund. They could have tried to make it right but failed. Sorry to say we won't be customers again.

The unit is small but honestly the perfect size for a couple. It's an older building but that adds to the charm. You truly feel like you are living like a local. It comes equipped with everything you need. Plenty of linens and toiletries. Even beach chairs and lanterns. The high deck chairs on the patio are perfect for sitting and watching the sunset or looking for dolphins off the coast. I felt super safe the whole time. The property is within walking distance to coffee shops, the pier, dining and more. Highly recommend a stay. Can't wait to go back.

During our stay, we experienced several significant issues:…read more AC Issues and Faulty Workarounds: The living room AC did not work. While we were told we could not run both the central air and the bedroom portable ACs simultaneously, we had no choice due to the main unit's failure. Furthermore, the replacement portable AC provided by maintenance leaked heavily. When we reported this, the property manager told us we could not use towels to catch the water, forcing us to purchase a kiddie pool at our own expense and effort to protect the floors. Additionally, we discovered an air vent was covered by a bed in the master bedroom, causing unbearable temperatures until we relocated the furniture.   - Maintenance Inconveniences: We had to accommodate maintenance visits twice during our short 4-day stay. Additionally, the master bedroom TV did not work during our trip, and maintenance was unable to resolve the issue.   - Cleanliness and Maintenance Deficiencies: Upon arrival, the floors were so dirty that our feet turned black from walking inside. We also found safety pins on the floor in the upstairs master bedroom and a greasy, soiled blanket on one of the beds.   - Poorly Maintained Amenities: The leather couches are poorly patched and ripped, the downstairs refrigerator is missing its handle, the ice maker is cracked, the sliding doors are extremely difficult to open, and there are no screens on the windows.   - Inadequate Supplies: We were provided with only five rolls of toilet paper for 12 people over 4 days, and were told to purchase our own when we ran out.   - Inaccurate Listing Details: The rooms are much smaller than pictured, the deck and interior walls have peeling paint, and the beach directly in front of the house is rocky, treacherous, and unusable. The property manager was quick to respond but offered little actual help, though we did appreciate that the maintenance technician was very polite. That was nice. -Overall for the quality and the services rendered, it would have been cheaper to stay in an actual hotel with consistent amenities and breakfast options. Amenities: +Walking distance to the beach. +It was nice that almost every room had an adjoining bathroom. +The room rental had a killer view of the ocean. +Theres a lot to do in the area +There was a hot tub on the third story that was neat. +There were several balconies within the unit, some facing the ocean and some facing the city. It was nice to have different spaces like this. Host Communications: -This is not an independent home or individual running location, it's a corporate operation that's using Airbnb to host their properties. We had a contact person but everything was through "Beachfront Only Vacation Rentals." -Maintenance had to come three different times during the course of a weekend stay. At this point a hotel would have knocked fees off, upgraded you, moved you rooms, no efforts were made to make this right for us. When you have guests that experience as many issues with a rental as we did; you have a responsibility to make that right on your end. This wasn't a summer beach vacation. This was a Navy Veteran funeral service. Services were at several places nearby and at sea, but all of us stayed in the rental. The last thing any of us had the head space for, was extra issues during an already difficult time. The night before the funeral we were going to make pizza for our group. No oven. By the time the handyman showed up there wasn't time to do this and we had to scramble to feed a large group at the last minute, with no compensation for the evening they ruined. Issues: -Not handicap accessible (the shore is accessible over rocky terrain and not during high tide at all). There are stairs all over the house and an elevator you have to pay additional service fees for. -Older appliances. Despite the listings offering a newly renovated atmosphere, you can tell corners were cut and several of the appliances didn't work; like the fire pit, TVs, oven. (I'm wondering if they disable the oven due to all the reviews I've read about similar issues). -Tell tale signs of rust and wear. Throughout the house in several places, things are rusting. I know the salt content in the air makes this happen, but I shouldn't have to worry about tetanus when I flush a toilet. -Cleanliness was not up to par. The floors turned everyone's feet black. There are hardwood floors throughout the rental, so you constantly feel like there is dirt and things stuck to your feet. Bathrooms didn't seem clean & one of the showers had mystery spots in it??? -Not adequate supplies for larger groups. Our group was well below the maximum occupancy and we ran out of towels the first night. Soaps and toilet paper in some bathrooms ran out as well. -Everything electronic (lights & A/C units) is run on timers and will not stay on longer than 30 minutes. We had one of our family members slip and fall during our stay because lights in the shower turned off. -The rentals are built so close to each other that having windows open or being on balconies doesn't offer as much privacy as I would have liked. -Everything is wet and humid. I'm aware that ocean front humidity is uncontrollable. For some reason every other location I've ever stayed with didn't have this issue. Swim clothes didn't dry, even after being hung out for days at a time. Books and papers warped, everything felt damp. The rental gave us an opportunity to come together and take care of the main reason we were there. The host issues and state of the Airbnb though made all of it a lot harder than it had to be. In a city where you are spoiled for choice when it comes to accommodations, more care and consideration should have been given. Good luck guys.

We rented Beachfront Only property P1643-0 at 1643 S Pacific Street in Oceanside. Unfortunately, we…read moreleft shortly after checking in because of conditions that raised serious health and safety concerns. The property had a strong odor, dark staining or growth-like discoloration in multiple locations, substantial dirt and debris on a large HVAC return grille, and damaged or missing material behind another HVAC register. Three members of our party experienced reactions while inside the property, and the odor affected my wife's allergies. I cannot confirm from photographs that the visible material was mold. However, the suspected dampness, possible air-quality issues, and condition of the HVAC components made us uncomfortable remaining in the home. I have posted photographs so prospective renters can evaluate the visible conditions themselves. We immediately notified Beachfront Only, provided photographs, requested relocation, and agreed to allow housekeeping to respond while management investigated another property. The company acknowledged that our relocation and cancellation request had been forwarded to management. No suitable alternative was provided before we had to leave and secure other accommodations. This was not a change of plans or a complaint made after completing the stay. We reported the conditions immediately, gave the company an opportunity to provide a safe alternative, and left only after one was not provided. I am also concerned about how reviews are presented on Beachfront Only's website. The site displays numerous reviews and gives this property a 4.9 rating, but I could not find a way to submit a review directly on the current property page or through a general public review form. If reviews are accepted only through selectively distributed post-stay surveys, prospective renters may not be seeing a complete range of guest experiences. In my opinion, displaying reviews without giving guests a clear way to submit honest feedback is misleading. We reported the health and safety concerns to the City of Oceanside and requested an inspection. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this property or management company.

We rented chairs and an umbrella for our beach day and we spent so much time on our balcony watching wildlife, surfers, people fishing, the waves. The pool also was heated and so lovely to jump in after a day in the ocean. They had live music around the pool Saturday night! It was walking distance from so many stores and restaurants. We appreciated the complementary breakfast. The towels and bedding were clean, and the hotel staff kept providing fresh, clean towels throughout the day, which was a nice touch. The beach attendants were friendly, the hotel provides sand toys for kids, and we really enjoyed the live music in the evenings. The location is excellent and made it easy to enjoy the beach. Unfortunately, the cleanliness of our room upon arrival was disappointing. The toilet seat had what appeared to be blood or feces on it, there was urine around the base of the toilet, which made it seem like the bathroom floor hadn't even been mopped, and there were crumbs and bits of food, along with a few dead bugs, around the beds. Thankfully, I had hand sanitizer with me and cleaned the bathroom before my children used it. A few other things to note: the balcony door was difficult to open, there was no screen door, and the complimentary beach chairs are quite small and may not be comfortable for larger adults. The sheets also seemed too small for the mattresses and kept coming off the corners during the night, which made sleeping less comfortable, no mattress covers. The beach itself is beautiful but fairly small, so it becomes crowded quickly. One suggestion for future guests: please rinse the sand off before you are getting into the pool, I witnessed people rinsing off im the pool after beach then after 2-3 minutes they came out and went upstairs. The pool is not a shower and the sand on the bottom of the pool hurt. Also, once you're finished using the beach loungers, remove your towels instead of leaving them behind. It was difficult to tell which chairs were actually occupied and which were available because many loungers had towels left on them. Overall, this hotel has a fantastic location and several nice amenities, but better attention to room cleanliness and a few small improvements would make a big difference. * also bring water shoes, the rocks at the beach are very painful*
