Great Staycation, thanks to my mother in law who has a timeshare. This is our 3rd time staying here and my kids love it. We have only stayed in the two bedroom. It has one bathroom and shower in the main room, a walk in closet, sink in the other bedroom and kitchen. The room has always been clean and well kept when we arrive. Parking is free. Extra Perks: + Game Room - foosball - ping pong table + Billiards - DVD's - pool table - board games + Free Laundry room + Pool and jacuzzi + Beach - short walking distance. - be prepared to walk up and down flights of stairs - We are originally from Hawaii and the water is way too cold for me. My kids are water babies and love the water. + Walking distance to different eateries. Overall: Clean rooms. Area is well kept and safe. Other guests are nice. Tons of local business to help support around the area. The drive to other popular destinations of San Diego is not too far. read more

My cousin booked some vacation time at Sand Pebbles Resort. She invited me and another cousin to join her. As the weather was getting hot in the San Gabriel Valley, I accepted the invite to enjoy some Solana Beach area breezes. It was my first time staying at Sand Pebbles Resort. What a super pleasant surprise!! The facility grounds were very well kept, there was plenty of parking, a really nice pool area with a jacuzzi, restrooms nearby, and plenty of seating around the pool. Based on other reviews, this facility has been around for years, but the outside was definitely kept up well. The unit we stayed in was nice. It had a decent sized kitchen with all the basics. The adjoining dining room and living room area were nice and spacious with sliding glass doors to let the constant breezes flow through. The couch opened up to a bed if needed. The bedrooms were upstairs, with a master suite and smaller bedroom with two twin beds. Both bedrooms had windows to open up for cool breezes to flow through. I see that other visitors complained of old wear and tear issues inside the units but I didn't see anything like that in our unit. The temperature never went beyond 75 degrees during the day, and at night it dropped even lower for cool comfortable sleeping temps. The location was a short walk across the street and up a paved entryway to access the stairs at the top of the bluffs leading down to the sandy beach! Gorgeous! There were plenty of places to go out for meals, coffee, shopping, and sightseeing. And if you cross over Highway 101 to Cedros Avenue, it's a fantastic stretch of artsy eclectic shops and businesses. At any facility you visit and spend the night, it's helpful to understand that you get a wide variety of visitors, and they can get loud. I always bring earplugs because I am a light sleeper. Someone in one of the nearby units had their TV volume on full blast. Well past midnight. It was tough to hear but my earplugs saved the night! I assumed it was either an elderly person who fell asleep with the TV on loud, or a drunk person. I suppose we could've complained to the front office, but it was really late and none of us wanted to step out and go to the front office. We survived. read more

The location is awesome. I would make my coffee and walk across the street to sip it at the beach, walk back, throw on my wetsuit, and go surf the break just south of the stair case. Ran to Cardiff and walked to Del Mar's dog beach. Jacuzzi'd when the sun went down and was close to great restaurants. The property is gorgeous, we especially loved how quiet the area is. The condo is the perfect size with a lovely bathroom, kitchen, living and dining room. The pool and hot tub were very close and made for a nice relaxing end to our days. There are many restaurants and stores nearby, and the beach is a short walk away. This resort puts you right on the coast and is a safe, clean spot to stay. We loved the location and will definitely be returning. read more

We are timeshare owners, came here for the first time thru Interval exchange; When arrived, we were surprised to see, the so called " Resort " appeared to be converted from several two story old apartment buildings; The Check-In Office was very small and outdated, it appeared also converted from a downstair apartment room, located at the Corner building. Whole complex was small and compacted with narrow driveways & walkways. Although, the property owner have done some improvements on landscapes and public areas, whole place looked clean and festive, but still appeared outdated. I gave 2 stars for their effort. But, this is no way near to wannabe " Resort"! Be aware and prepared: 1: Using Paper & click board for Registration, also required guests to write down credit card info, which made me uncomfortable. 2: Still using old fashioned keys instead of key cards. Same key to open our old screen door and front door. Same key also open Gate door to street. NO additional door latches for extra security. Any previous tenants could have copied those keys. 3: They had the Worst WiFi connection. 4: DO NOT provide Basic necessities, such as: Shampoos, Conditioners, nor body Lotions. 5: Outdated Heating Systems. 6: No elevator! Not easy carrying luggage and climbing 15 stairs. 7: Old carpets and old furnishings in a newly installed windows Shutters for a one Bedroom apartment. Partially renovated? 8: Only One Modern telephone in Bedroom which was unplugged until I need to make calls. It was challenging for elderly or low tech people like me. A simple phone will serve the purpose. Especially for emergency? 9: Towel Exchange once a week on Tue or Wed based on room #, if you missed it , Tough Luck! 10: Before Check out, Paid guests need to do housekeeping chores by putting dirty dishes in dishWashing and emptying all trash and take to Dumpsters. This is Worst than Motel 6! Misleading Ads posted by Interval Exchange website. Definitely not qualify as a " Resort" ! Would not recommended. read more

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION The Sand Pebbles Resort was a hidden gem. Its located in a great location right by the beaches. Its located in a quite part of Solana Beach, but also has the advantage of being a short walk away from some of the biggest attractions in San Diego - Beaches, Del Mar Fairgrounds and Racetrack, Fletcher Cove and Dog Park, Cedros Design District, Belly Up, and many different resturants, bars, and shopping. In addition, there is a nearby Amtrak station that goes all the way to the Mexican border and allows for easy day trips to Los Angeles. As for the complex, its very nice. The units are very large with kitchen, living and dining rooms, bathrooms, patio/balconies, and multiple beds. The complex has a brand new heated pool, jacuzzi, gameroom, and free washer/dryer laundromat and parking. This is a great place for families, solo and business travelers. read more

COVID Concerns 37 years here every summer - my family started coming here when I was 15. That means we have stayed in multiple units, watched different management come and go over the years , most were pleasant, MOST. Each year there was always some NICE changes including multiple upgrades, we saw new shutters, furniture, renovations, new front door screens, new landscaping all over the property. Now that I have established some background, I feel like my words hold some weight. These photos say 1000 words. It's nasty now- Disgusting The pool and landscape looks new and very nice that's it. We are here during the last week in September 2020, which means we are still in Covid phase. I would expect the unit to be clean and even sanitary. We are stuck here, or we go home or to a hotel because there is not 1 unit available out of 49. I Understand there will be rust in some places, we are at the beach, but the mold and rust is beyond a couple of years, the black smelly junk didn't start last summer, these things started years ago. Why no one has fixed this is crazy. For the cost and monthly maintenance fees my family has paid for 37 years, I expect clean and I expect the appliances, mirrors, and beds to be maintained. These need to be replaced. And no housekeeping on Sunday and no available units - not 1 out of 49. I won't even start on the rude front desk woman. One last thing, she told me there was no housekeeping today, she lied, I passed her in the housekeeping area on her phone. read more

This resort is in an amazing location right by the beaches and next to all the attractions of Solana Beach and Del Mar Fairgrounds. The resort is within a 3 minute walk to the beaches, fairgrounds, restaurants/shopping, and the train station, which goes to South to the Mexican Border and North to Los Angeles. The resort is very clean with brand new heated pool, free washer and dryer, free parking, and a gameroom. The units are very spacious with kitchen, living and dining rooms, and patio/balconies. Despite not having an AC in the unit, the units have lots of ceiling fans, windows, and the cool ocean breeze - so it never get hot. read more

Clean, comfy and close to everything. Great location. We enjoy the beach which is just a short walk from the condo. The pool and hot tub area are so nice and even have a couple of gas grills and tables to eat poolside. They have nice security screen doors that lock so you can enjoy the fresh ocean breeze. There are ceiling fans but no a/c. The condo is stocked with all the essentials. The management are friendly and courteous. The grounds are exceptionally well maintained. This condo is centrally located and within walking distance to many eating places, the beach and shopping. There is even a train station just across the road. And they have some pretty cool canvas pictures in the condo of the area. We just love this place. read more

They have cleaners out working loudly on patios and grills at 8:00 am, rolling metal work carts up and down the bumpy sidewalk and talking loudly. I've asked two different people why the work is scheduled for this time. They act surprised that it's an issue. It is a holiday weekend, no less. In general, the places are bare minimum. Clean but not exactly comfy or cozy. Managed without basic customer service ethics, apparently. The manager is not available, by the way, because it's too early on a Saturday. Don't count on receiving any courtesy here. read more

My notes from a week at Sand Pebbles on a timeshare exchange: putting a guest in an unfinished remodel is just unprofessional. sawdust blows out of fans, doors hang off their rails, etc. pans are warped. wifi is spotty at best. at&t coverage is slim to none. couch is scratchy and gave me rugburns. saws were running every morning outside my window. shower is very nice, but is in a completely different style from the rest of the unit. spa is nice and large, but strange children kept spying on us and making noise in another language. they say their goal is to "exceed your service expectations." it seemed to me that they were actually shooting for the bare minimum. also, their feedback sheet asks for ratings in several categories, but only has three choices: Excellent, Good, and Fair. a tad optimistic, i think. solana beach is a fantastic place to relax, however. a short walk to del mar or to cute shops in solana beach. read more

Customer service from Allison is laughable. The woman needs to learn some consideration and etiquette - you represent the business you don't own it. I feel sorry for the owners who have her as their representation to customers. Speaking to her over the phone was ridiculous, couldn't get a word in she spoke over me, was extremely short, and rude. I know their cheap and hire cheap businesses to come in and handle their property, stay away I would never come to stay at this hotel given how rude customer service was. At the end of the day everyone is a potential customer and how you treat others is how you ultimately get treated in return. Maybe when they change management will be the day I return to stay at the motel, but until then your better off staying at a Holiday Inn. read more

Timeshare, not a hotel. It is a small complex, only about 50 units surrounding a pool/spa. It is on the 101, close to beach and lots of good restaurants and such in Solana Beach. We have been spending a week here every year for the past 8 years, and they are constantly improving the units - there is always something upgraded every time we visit, always a bit better. The units are spacious, more like apartments. The 2 bedroom are 2 stories, with 2 bedrooms and a jack-and-jill bath; downstairs is a living room area (with a pullout couch for effectively a 3rd bedroom) another full bath, and a full kitchen and dining area.if you are looking for a resort, this is not the place - it is more like an apartment. It is a very friendly small complex in a great location. read more

The beach is your backyard. Front desk and entire staff was amazing and so accommodating!!! Two bedroom unit layout was picture perfect and had a fully loaded kitchen with everything you need. This small time share facility is more like a mid-level motel than a vacation resort. Our studio apartment had adequate space and a decent kitchen (all appliances were fairly new and in working order ) - but a Murphy Bed? Really? Outside grounds were decent. Buildings seemed to have been recently painted. Gardening was minimal but pleasant. Pool area was clean with good poolside furnishings and two modern gas barbecue units. Pool was nicely heated, a plus for the November weather. Now for the negatives - overall a less than satisfying experience! No decent views and no beach access - had to walk or drive several blocks to get there. Poor security and privacy - only a single dead bolt lock on the unit door, no in room safe, and no do not disturb option. This lead to a gross invasion of privacy. Our mid week housekeeping was to be on Wednesday. Tuesday evening we called the office and asked to not be disturbed until noon. At 9am there were three loud bangs on the door and housekeeping staff walked right in without being invited. I was in the bathroom and my wife was sound asleep. Needless to say we were furious and complained to the manager, who didn't seem the least bit concerned. Another big concern - homeless people were seen on the property. One was actually sleeping on the porch of a vacant unit. When our neighbor called the office to report this they were not going to do anything about it. She was told to call the police if she wanted to. Unacceptable office service and management. One positive for racing enthusiasts - Del Mar race track is in walking distance. No doubt the place is full during racing season. read more

Sand Pebbles Resort is a timeshare only property, although somehow listed with wedding venue and hotel sites. Rentals are only available to the owners but you can rent the timeshare much like a hotel room but through the owners directly. Upon questioning we received mediocre customer service communications, not off putting but nothing above and beyond or extremely detailed or helpful. They need better web presence for sure if they are not keen on answering questions. And they do need to improve how and where they are listed. And if there are folks interested in rentals, there needs to be somewhere they can find that information out. The name of this property indicates something entirely different than what the property is - a series of condominium/town-home/apartment/hotel room like timeshares. It is not a resort at all. For this reason they do not meet minimum expectations. read more

Immaculately maintained with beautiful landscaping. About 2 blocks from the beach and 2 blocks from the Cedros Shopping district. A real find that you can walk to restaurants and shops. The units include granite kitchens and marble walk in showers and are fully equipped. Love staying here - it's s real jewel. read more
