This is a beautiful boutique hotel right across the street from La Jolla Bay. The views are amazing! The room was very clean and comfortable and furnished in the Bali style. Highly recommend this great find.

I can't say enough great things about this hidden gem. The staff are great! The unit was amazing. Everything from the unit, to the courtyard restrooms, the front desk office,, bar and breakfast restaurant are immensely spotless clean! It's beautiful, clean, friendly staff and has everything you need! We enjoyed the living room fireplace and next time will make better use of the kitchen! The bar is open to hotel guests only but because it is in a beautiful courtyard they should definitely have a sign on the street to invite people walking along the ocean up for a rest and drink. I can't say enough nice things about this Inn. There is a rooftop lounge on the next building over for guests as well with some seating and a propane fire pit. Great all around! Highly recommend.

We have stayed in some of the best hotels in La Jolla. From the most upscale to the most minimal. I absolutely loved staying here at Pantai. The staff are super nice and friendly. Everyone is so helpful. Rooms give the boutique style. Breakfast every morning was great. Complimentary waters and juices. Very close to all the walking and shops. Highly recommend.

We cannot speak enough positivity about this place! The property is older but beautifully maintained, and treated with love! It's not crazy busy, but overrun with crowds at breakfast, or in general. Its views are breathtaking!! The breakfast is delicious, with so many different things to choose from, and so fresh! Antonio and the other staff are fantastic!! We will always come back!

    The view from room 201

So I know people who will say, " oh I don't care much about where I stay because I'm just sleeping there" but if you're anything like me and DO care about where you lay your head and like to stay in places that offer comfort and are pleasing to the eye then I would definitely recommend Pantai Inn. Not only was it comfortable, the room was really nice ( it felt like home away from home). Staff is also amazing- from the front desk to onsite bartender and housekeeping. My family and I stayed in room 201 and the views were amazing with oceanfront views. We will definitely be back. No complaints here, just a very satisfied customer. Thank you Pantai Inn for a relaxing and very much enjoyable weekend. Hope to see you soon.

MOTEL 6 WITH AN AMAZING VIEW WITH TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I hate writing bad reviews but this one was so bad I have to warn future guests. Let's start by saying I paid $589 for one night at this hotel. I tried calling before check in to ask for early check in if possible. Tried calling them from 8am~9:30am every 10 mins with no answer so left a voicemail mail to call me back. Waited another hour and called finally getting front desk asked for early check in, which she said that was totally possible and they would call between 12:30-1:30pm when ready. NOPE NO CALL... I call at 2pm asked about the room, "oh yes it's ready" #thanksforthecall We get to the room and it's not $589 luxury forsure... old and run down but with an amazing view though. It's wasn't a bad room, but definitely the value should NOT be over $300 on any day. The air conditioning did NOT work... as well as the TV didn't work either. There a picture I've attached of the TV "weak or no signal". Over all the room was not great in any means, but manageable. THE WORST IS YET TO COME!!! Listen to this! We go to our wedding and get back at 10:45pm. We try our key card and it doesn't work. Tried over and over again and both cards do not work. Frustrated we walk down and across to reception. We get there and it's pitch dark and on the door it says: "Needed to leave a little early, the next person will be in at 11:00pm. If you have any questions call Edwin @ ###-###-####." (Picture attached) We waited 11pm NOPE, 11:10pm NOPE, 11:20pm NOPE, 11:30pm NOPE... we were so exhausted and cold we called Edwin. Edwin says sorry our other employee is currently busy with another customer (bullshit!). So he then decides to tell me to break into the reception office using the back slider... WTF? He proceeds to tell me to sit behind the front desk and gives me instructions to create my own room key card. Absolutely mind blown at what I was doing at 12:30am! (Picture of me making a key card in the middle of the night.) Next morning we were so fed up just asked for a receipt for stay and we left. Didn't get a receipt... called again asking for one and front desk tells me since I booked through third party they will send you one??? WTF? I've stayed at MANY hotels never had I heard this before... I said please just send me a receipt for our stay, she took my email down at 12pm it's currently 2:30pm with no receipt! I would give this place negative stars if I could, I feel completely ripped off paying $589 for that hotel. With atrocious customer service and professionalism. DO NOT STAY THERE!

This entire exchange happened within the first 10 minutes of trying to check in. Throughout the rest of the stay I watched the bellmen greet virtually every other guest who entered or left the hotel. Not me. I was consistently treated like I was just a kid or teenage tag along with parents rather than an adult guest who was paying to stay there. Basic acknowledgment and ordinary human respect were completely absent. Nice location and cute decorations do not make up for being ignored and spoken to with open disdain by multiple staff members. I love that the grounds are secure and you can allow your children to go into the courtyard area and play the provided games with peace of mind- knowing that they'll be safe. They provide tons of outdoor seating options and grills for tenants, which makes cooking a breeze. In order to enter from the beach/boardwalk, you must have a room key to enter the premises- another awesome perk. This keeps all the riff-raft out of the area. &At night, they also require a room key to enter through the front of the building- which is a newer feature, and much appreciated. Our room was nice, but not exactly what we expected. We had requested a king ocean-view room--the view was absolutely amazing--but the bed was definitely closer to a queen size. The location is…read moreoutstanding in terms of closeness to the coves, Prospect, and many eateries, coffee shops, bars, etc. We stayed for two nights and I only wish we could've had a longer trip. La Jolla is magical in itself, but Scripps feels special. From the homey décor with the beachside theme, to the quaint terrace where you can read and sip a beverage with the ocean in your sightline. The small stuff that wasn't worth sweating: outlets are rather oddly placed in the room (most often hidden behind furniture in such a way that it was hard or impossible to plug anything in; we used the washroom outlet most) and if you're in a first floor unit (we were in 5), you can definitely hear your upstairs neighbours walking about. All this doesn't negate the positives for me. Brooke is the most wonderful concierge and goes out of her way to accommodate for her guests (personal text to notify that the room was ready early, luggage storage solution since our flight wasn't until the evening). The sweet ladies on the hotel staff were also incredibly kind and friendly. It's always so nice to get a smile back. I hope I get to stay here again, especially for summer! Thanks so much, Scripps!

Having on-site parking was a huge bonus, and at $20 per night it was well worth the convenience of parking just steps from our room. The staff (specifically Maritza) was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating, making us feel welcome throughout our stay. The only real drawbacks were related to the building itself. We stayed on the ground floor (Room 5), and noise from the room above was very noticeable. Even normal walking could be heard clearly, and footsteps and doors closing carried through the ceiling enough to disturb our sleep. We later had different guests above us and experienced the same thing, so it seems to be more of a sound insulation issue than inconsiderate guests. Another inconvenience was the lack of electrical outlets. There were only two outlets in the main room, and half of one didn't work. We ended up using the third outlet in the bathroom to charge our cell phones. There were also no outlets near the bed, which was inconvenient since it's nice to keep your phone plugged in and within reach overnight. The room was charmingly antiquated. The mini refrigerator also leaked water during our stay. It appeared the small freezer compartment had accumulated enough frost that it likely just needed to be defrosted, so it seemed more like a maintenance issue than a broken appliance. We also noticed a few small bugs in the room during our stay. Given the oceanfront location and coastal humidity, this may simply be part of the environment, but it's something future guests should be aware of. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely stay here again. Next time, we'd request a top-floor room to minimize the noise from above.
