Second time staying here. You can't go wrong with this location, absolutely beautiful views and well worth the money. The staff are wonderful, highly recommend for your San Diego stay!

    View from our room.

Loved the location. The room was comfortable with one exception. The pillows could be replaced with something a bit better. Other than that we really enjoyed our stay.

My cottage view, steps front boardwalk.

Best Beachfront property right on the boardwalk!..clean rooms and helpful staff. Parking is so convenient. Definitely coming back on my next weekend trip!

1.) Beach Cottages 2.) On the beach 3.) Oceanfront We stayed in cottage#506. The cottage was complete with a ocean view, one bedroom, full service kitchen, 1 bathroom, dining room and living room. There are many restaurants, bars, a grocery store, shops within walking distance. Garnet is the Main Street, plenty of banks and ATMs. The check-in was easy and staff was helpful. Not all lodging are cottages and oceanfront. Ask for a cottage while checking in for availability.

Local coffee in the room with an incredible view

I loved the location, the convenience and the staff. Just stayed here with a friend, and the property had so much to offer. You can watch the waves from your room or walk out the gate onto the boardwalk. The staff, both the front desk as well as the housekeeping folks, were so helpful and friendly. Having a full kitchen made the trip more affordable because we could shop at the Ralphs across the street instead of eating at restaurants for every meal. Highly recommend the Beach Cottages for anyone wanting a fantastic location and great people working there.

WOW this was the best experience of 66 yrs . The staff were amazing thank you much !!!! This room was immaculate . The Cottage had everything you need in it , full kitchen ( gas stove) dishes , pans glasses etc. 3 queen size beds (1 a sofa bed ) very comfortable and roomy . Full dining area w/ 6 chairs, a couch set w/ tv , beautiful wooden shutters on the window . Quality shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in a modern tub with a safety bar to get in and out of the tub. Maid came everyday. One block from the hud of the beaches , quaint shops and eateries in town. I will be back at lease once a year

Hair in tub, was not cleaned.

This is the dirtiest room I have ever paid money for, and I don't even have expensive taste. This room wasn't cheap. We stayed in the west wing on the second floor in an accessible room with two queen beds. Upon arrival, there was sand all over the bathroom floor/walls, a piece of plastic trash behind the toilet, and a hair in the bathtub like it hadn't been cleaned. I called the front desk and they said they'd take care of it. When we got back, the sand was swept from the floor but still on the walls, the trash was still behind the toilet, and the hair was still in the tub. You can see the stains on the floor. They don't even bother to mop. The lampshades are stained. There's dust behind the headboards. A crusty stain on the bedskirt. The white towels are marked up. No AC, no heat. No luggage rack so you have to use the tables for suitcases so you can't use the tables as tables. Not even basic amenities. The neighborhood is loud with all the bars, bring ear plugs if you want to sleep. It was hard to fall asleep and I kept waking up. Parking is $15/night even though there are plenty of spaces open. Room total is charged upon check-in, not checkout. That was a first. Water pressure is a joke even by motel standards. It's mostly just too expensive for the hygiene to be this bad.

Ask the Community - The Beach Cottages

    Is there an elevator?

    Yes

Is there an iron and ironing board or steamer available as well as a blow dryer?

Yes, board in in a closet and blow dryer in the bathrooms!

Is it better to be in the first or second row of the beach cottages?

If you are in the beach cottages you won't be able to tell if it's the first or second row. Honestly, either row you can't beat this location. Hope this helps.

Do they have soft beds with memory foam bed toppers? (Need for arthritis)

Beds are comfortable, but not memory foam.

Do we have to pay for parking?

No! Big parking lot for people staying at the cottages. It's great.

    What beach is it on?

We are located in Pacific Beach. Pacific Beach is located north of Mission Beach and south of La Jolla.

Do the kitchens have plates, bowls, cups, silverware, etc...?

Yes. They aren't super high quality but adequate for families with kids. They really provide everything you need except the groceries.

    Are they pet-friendly?

No they are not. They have pier dogs but no other pets at allowed.

I am so happy I found this place via AARP! Located in the heart of the Gaslamp District, I had never heard of this hotel prior to searching. Upon checking in, the desk clerk was very friendly, efficient, and answered any questions that I had. As for the room, he put us up on the top (4th) floor. Room is the perfect size for two people. Very clean, warm, inviting, and has some really cute and convenient amenities such as a pineapple themed USB quad port at the desk, along with a Keurig machine (had I known that I'd have brought my own Starbucks K-cups)! The bed was nice and comfy with lots of soft but supportive pillows and two separate comforter blankets so you're not fighting for covers if you are sharing the bed with someone or your significant other. Bathroom is very modern and clean. A hairdryer is hanging in the bathroom as well. The only item missing was an iron and an ironing board; however, you can request that at the front desk. If you are looking for a hotel with a gym, laundry facilities on site, and a full breakfast buffet or continental breakfast, then this place is not for you; however, if those things don't matter to you {I typically look for those types of hotels during a longer stay) then this hotel is all you need. You also get other unexpected creature comforts such as Starbucks coffee in the lounge along with 4 different blends of water as well as these cute pineapple cookies in the afternoon. Based in Seattle, WA, I am so happy I found this chain as I will be on the lookout and consider staying in other cities. Parking is available in a garage connected to the hotel next door for a fee. Also, bikes are available in the lobby for getting around (not sure if gratis or for a fee). I definitely recommend staying here! One small recommendation for the hotel: provide rooms with a small microwave and mini fridge to reheat leftovers. It all worked out as I gave a homeless guy mine.

I've stayed in Gaslamp before, so my hope was that at a minimum this would be a safe and comfortable spot to rest my head. Honestly, they totally met my expectations and then some (not a lot, mind you, but some). The staff were super friendly, even offering my companion and I flowers for Women's History Month and the lobby amenities included a water station and complementary cookies (pineapple shaped, of course). The rooms weren't super spacious but it was enough for a night and they were clean and safe, which is the most important part. Note: there is no parking attached to the hotel! Your best bet is a public lot called Park it on Market about a block away. It's $21 to park overnight and you can book in advance (which I highly recommend because it can sell out).

Helena responded with sarcasm and dismissiveness and actually laughed while I explained that both rooms were dirty. Being laughed at while raising legitimate concerns is completely unacceptable.
