I don't even know where to start with this place. It's so freaking good. A place we were planning to go to was shut down randomly due to an emergency water main break and we typed in food and just popped by. The main dining room was full so they walked us over to the bar area. Oh my goodness we plan to sit there every time now. Sucha cute cozy little room with not alot of tables, lots of cute lights and the bartender takes care of the room. He got like quadruple sat and was putting it DOWN. We got I believe some items that aren't usually on the menu he said. My husband got a combo plate with skewers and a port wine reduction, he was taken back lol, and had never had a wine reduction before and now he wants it on EVERYTHING. ‍ I had probably the BEST and most perfectly cooked steak in idk how long, and that's saying alot because I've tried alot of steaks in my day. Came with a cream/hollandaise and some seared broccolini, I LOVED it. Nowhere seems to have broccolini for a side so I was astatic! We can't wait to come back! read more

Enjoyed their special Christmas Eve menu very much. Went specifically for the halibut cheeks, a real delicacy. Manager Jan and server Christopher made it a special evening for one in our party celebrating his birthday. We had onion soup, salads with house-made dressings, halibut cheeks, coq au vin chicken, and an amazing poached pear dessert. I had high hopes from this place , beacuse the reviews looked good but at best my experience was below average. The ambience is casual, and dimly lit and there was lots of seating .Its located in a strip mall kind of location with other restaurents in a row and hence I saw lots of parking out front.Right of the bat, they seated us at the farthest corner in front of the kitchen door and it was a constant distraction with everyone walking in and out and customers walking by to the restroom. There were plenty of other seats that were free , so I feel this could have been avoided.They had a really long list of wines , which I was excited to try but alas every second thing that I asked for was either 'not available' or they had 'so less that they couldnt give me a glass' of . We had - Cheese Platter - Excellent ! it was a great assortment of meats and cheeses and both me and the hubby loved everything on there. Sea Bass and Couscous - Our server spoke really highly of the specials and we ended up going by his word but alas , it was a horrible experience afterwards for both of us. We ended up falling sick the next day and this was one of the only things we had that day , so I feel very confident in saying that it was the fish that did it . The drinks and wine were both alright but my experience is tainted by the really bad memories of throwing up all day the next day , so there is very limited good that I can speak of . For ABQ this is a 4 star, for those who have eaten out and about closer to a 3.5 star. It is a good option for a nice dinner. That being said, felt like the dining experience was a bit confusing; the menu seemed to try to have a dish for every diner, instead of dishes the chef wants to serve diners. The portions are huge. The service we had was pleasant but a bit hard sell. We had a small charc board - it had some really nice components but portion for 2, too big...our entrees were good but not something we couldn't make at home - aside from the green chile crab sauce which was really delicious but top end of spicy for the avg diner (not for the avg NM'n though ). We were too full to try dessert which actually sounded pretty intriguing. Love that the space flips from a sandwich shop in the day (cheese & coffee "downtown") to nice dinner spot in the eve, they have regular seasonal recipe changes, prime rib beginning of month, beef wellies end of month and periodic tasting menus + pairings. If service was more relaxed, maybe a specials board up instead of reciting, menu simplified, portions slightly smaller - Seared would easily hit a 5 in my books. read more

Really didn't make a difference as we waited over there too. The steak was way over cooked. The pork chop was really good if you like savory flavors. Seemed to lack balance with the sides. We ordered green chile calabacitas and green chile roasted potatoes. Both sides were very hot. They came well after our entree. Not great to eat after the entree unless you're into a lot of heat and no real way to cool it. They were busy that night and we don't really fault the servers, but would not return. read more

When I go to a restaurant like this one I am looking for a different flavor than what I had before. Truth be told that doesn't happen very often but it did tonight. My wife and I both enjoyed our meals and the service was top notch. I want to give a shout out to our server Casper who was knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. Best service we have had in a while. The good: --My Filet du Beouf was amazing. They say the secret is in the sauce...well it was here. It was a flavor that made my meal unique and enjoyable. I was pleasantly surprised about dang good it was. The wine recommended was spot on. Been trying to find it at the stores. I order the muscles and truthfully I'm not a muscles person, really. They were simply amazing with a great tomato based soup. The ambiance was simple with local art. I really appreciated that everyone there was dressed well. Don't sleep on Seared. Although it's located in the gap between the more well known upscale restaurants in the Old Town/Downtown area, you'll get excellent service with a delicious and varied menu. When you first pull in, the curb appeal leaves something to be desired, but the food makes this a diamond in the rough for the perfect low key date night. We ordered the fried asparagus and mussels for appetizers and we were not disappointed! The miso sauce gave the mussels excellent flavor and we were tempted to eat it as a soup! The fried asparagus was perfectly paired with a red Chile sauce. For entrees, the Albuquerque Filet Oscar Medallions was well cooked, and although the flavor of the green chile bernaise sauce was exquisite, the crab meat and asparagus seemed a bit soggy/oily. But that's an extremely small nitpick behind an otherwise excellent evening. My wife had the scallops and, as a self-proclaimed aficionado, she was floored. As if all that wasn't enough of a gastronomic adventure, we were convinced to get the Crème brûlée (the server had perfect recommendations, so we had to ride the hot hand). This was, hands down, one of the best Crème brûlée we've ever had. So worth it! We wouldn't hesitate to return soon! read more

Sopaipillas we're good, goat cheese filling was creamy. Fried asparagus was good but a little under done. Dinner was underwhelming. I got the Cowboy Ribeye with bone marrow. Or the pretense of bone marrow. There was next to nothing in the bone. Steak was good, but kind of tough. Coworker had Beef Wellington which was honestly kind of mushy. We recently dined at Seared, and everything was perfect! The ambiance is welcoming: stylishly furnished, warm lighting, and relaxing music. We were promptly seated, and drinks arrived soon after. Seared offers a nice wine list, some craft cocktails, and a good beer selection which includes a few light beers. We started with the encrusted Brie, and it was delicious. The Brie was served with apple and strawberry slices, baguette slices and crispy crackers. There are many other appetizers to choose from, and next time we'll try the fried asparagus or goat cheese crostini. The Brie was excellent, but we want to explore the entire menu. For entrees, we both chose beef filet with different preparations. I chose the Albuquerque filet Oscar medallions. The filet was perfectly cooked medium rare, as ordered, and it was served with crab meat, bernaise sauce, and flavorful green chile. I wondered about the chile, but I savored each bite. This was the best steak I've ever had, and it came with asparagus and small red potatoes. My husband chose the filet de Boeuf, a filet served with onions, sautéed mushrooms and asparagus with a red wine Demi glaze. We both devoured everything except we were too full to finish the potatoes. Unfortunately, we were too full to try dessert, so we must return! The service was excellent, as was the pacing of the meal. This was the most enjoyable dining experience I've had in a long time. read more

We wanted very much to like Seared, and up until our main courses came out, we did. It was bizarre experience, excellent service, excellent appetizers, and positively ruined entrees. Perhaps we'll return at a later date and give Seared another try, but we're not in a rush to do so... Service 5/5 - Not just unobtrusive, but noticeably good and enhanced the experience. Ambience 4/5 - A little on the shabby side. Encrusted Brie 4/5 - A treat, although I could have gone without the balsamic reduction. Salt Spring Island Mussels 5/5 - Best mussels in Albuquerque, hands down. Filet de Bouf 2/5 - A good piece of meat, ruined. "Medium Rare" delivered a nice char on the outside, but completely raw on the inside. It was hard to imagine this came from the same kitchen as the appetizers. Great food and service from Roman who was our server. We had a much better experience our second time dining here. My wife and I started with the goat cheese crostini which really well made with a nice crispy bread, fruit slice, cheese, pomegranate seeds and a honey drizzle. We then had French onion soup and a margarita and blueberry lavender lemon drop to drink which were nicely made. I had the farm entree (lamb chops, carne asada, and duck confit and she had the beef filet. Both dishes were cooked correctly and seasoned nicely. The whole staff felt like they were on point working as a team. We finished with the German chocolate cake which was the biggest piece of cake I've ever had at a restaurant. I would happily recommend this place to friends and family now. Last time I ate here, we had a poor experience, which the owner reached out to me within 24 hours of my review to see what happened and offered to comp my next meal. This is a very cozy charming restaurant. The service was wonderful! Austin was a truly good server. I chose this restaurant based on the photos and menu posted here. I was not disappointed. I came with steak on my mind and quickly changed to the duck. It was perfect! Great flavor and tender. The root veggies had a slight smoked flavor. That was a pleasant surprise. I finished with creme brulee. Just the right size, texture with a very faint touch of something like lemon in each bite. Yummm. When I'm back in town, I'll definitely return. read more

The best steak I have had in a long time. My eating companion and I started with a salad and French Onion soup. I wasn't crazy about the soup, not that it was distasteful, it just wasn't the best I have ever had. We then split the Filet De Boeuf (8oz) with an extra serving of asparagus. They even split the meal onto two separate plates. The potatoes were fabulous and there was a sauce that was incredible. Plus, it was topped with the most delicious mushrooms. But the meat . . . oh man . . . the perfection of the grilling and the slight crisp on the exterior - tender, juicy, PERFECT. We enjoyed a dessert of Creme Brulee. (I have never had Creme Brulee, and this was a great first introduction)! A great bottle of white, sweet, Riesling - further it was half price! All around the price was reasonable, particularly when you consider the high quality of the food. Fabulous waitstaff. He was knowledgeable, kind, and a great conversationalist with a great sense of space. He was there any second we needed him but at the same time did not hover. The ambiance was romantic with a little candle on each table and vase of flowers. An odd detail - my dining companion is in a wheelchair, when he tried to enter the Restuarant the door was not wide enough to fit him through. So it was sorta an awkward scene . . . until a gentlemen from inside the Restuarant came to figure out how to unlock the interlocking door to widen the entry. And then we were fine! Edit: I previously posted a complaint about a poor experience I had here with a server. The owner, Jan, called me and discussed the issue I had. I'm not sure if we will return again, but I do appreciate the phone call and apology. Jan was one of the reasons we returned because she was so wonderful. Besides the issue I had last time, we did enjoy the first two experiences. We came here when my husbands family was in town to meet our new baby. We suggested Seared for dinner after reading so many glowing reviews. We came here as a party of 10 (including a baby) and I was a little worried about bringing the baby. During that first visit, service was top notch and the front and back of house ran together like a well oiled machine. Our server, Austin, was wonderful. He had a great energy about him. Hostess was on top of water refills. Food was timed well. There was another server with a long blonde braid and her mother also came over to our table to see the baby. They were so warm, kind and made our evening wonderful. We returned again because of this service and because his family rave over the mussels to this day. Highly recommend requesting Austin as your server and ordering the mussels or scallops. read more

My husband and I were in desperate need of a date night. Seared is a few blocks from our home, so it worked out perfectly. They have a wonderful patio with fire pits and outside heaters--a very romantic vibe for sure. All the tables were within social distance guidelines. The staff was very friendly from the minute we walked in. Our server Casper was fantastic. He provided outstanding service ( some of the best I have had in a while). We ordered the Octopus to start. It was nice and tender, and all the flavors were on point. Our main dish was a Duck; it was a special they were offering for the night. The Duck was cooked perfectly as well with a nice sweet gravy and some cheddar mashed potatoes. I would highly recommend this dish. For dessert, we had A poached pear and cinnamon ice cream. Yassss! This was EVERYTHING. Overall it was a great night. Our food didn't take long to come out, the staff was very friendly, and the service was fantastic. A really enjoyable meal from start to finish. Juicy well cooked steak and the potatoes and broccolini complimented the entree as well. The only thing that knocked this from a 5 to a 4 star was the time it took for our food to come out. Maybe it was just this night in particular but something felt off. Our appetizer came after 30 minutes of waiting and the entrees came out after another 40. The waitresses were very nice and I was extremely satisfied at the service. You get that rustic homey feeling when eating here, especially if you sit outdoors. At this time of year, that breeze makes your meal just that much better.
