Tried the SeaCow for the first time today. It was a beautiful day, so we took our dog knowing that their porch was dog friendly. Our server was a nice young guy, but he seemed a little wary of our dog who happens to be about a hundred pounds. But our dog is very well behaved, and the server was a little more chill as the visit continued. I had the oyster po boy, which was so loaded that I had to eat some oysters before attempting to bite into my sandwich. Fries were perfectly cooked, and the slaw was a good blend of cabbage, mayo and spices and very little sugar, which was great. I don't like that overly sweet stuff. Hubby had the Philly and had no complaints. Our server never let our drinks get empty, and was kind without being overly attentive. We liked it. Good food. Good service. read more

A diner with an ice cream shop vibe, the SeaCow wasn't our first spot, but we were glad they had space. We initially tried to hit up Dockside Restaurant and Bar, but they had a sign out front saying they were understaffed, and after 5 minutes of trying to flag anyone, they told us it was most likely a 30 minute wait, and we figured we could do better. The SeaCow was open and had space, and while the host said he could seat us, he basically transferred that role to one of the short staffed servers instead, so we likewise stood around until the bench was cleared. Note: I recommend sitting indoors or at least in the covered porch. As this is close the water, we were swarmed by bugs. Our great server did get us some bug spray, but stick to indoors. Like most spots, this is mainly a fried seafood joint, with some southern land options as well. I know my sister got the shrimp and grits, my dad got a fried seafood platter, can't remember what my mom got, and I went with the chicken fried steak. The chicken fried steak is a special that they do, and while I do love fried seafood, I am also a sucker for a chicken fried steak. And the steak was good, enjoyed the fries and collards it came with. Overall, we enjoyed our meal here, it just was on the lower end of the spots we went to. Do recommend checking them out, again, inside. And probably stick with their fried seafood. read more

Excellent Service + Chill Ambiance + Delicious Food = Amazing Time! When we arrived there were a few outdoor tables from which to choose, but we wanted one in the shade, Shana, the server working, cleaned it off right away while we waited, which is awesome service, and set the tone for our casual dinner for four. I must say that I do know that I'm one of those picky customers.... I've been a server before, and we called customers like me: "high maintenance" I drink 3-4 diet sodas with my meal, often ask for extra sauce, napkins, etc, I love it when the server checks on us, and when they make suggestions. Shana, our server was all that, and more. I am not exaggerating when I say she was above par. Every restaurant on Edisto, and elsewhere for that matter, needs a Shana. The food was yummy, please see my attached photos. The service and food were actually was quite quick, especially considering it was getting busier once our appetizer arrived. This pretty restaurant with a nice selection of food, definitely is a must visit if you're on the island, as they have a varied menu and excellent service. Dessert Alert: Delicious Homemade Desserts! Our server suggested dessert, and told us a woman there makes them. Today I visited SeaCow Eatery with my wife for a late lunch. Having heard some of the locals talk about recommendations, we were excited to have heard good things about SE before we even walked in the door. For a small beach town like Edisto, it's great that they have a vacation-like feeling restaurant, that will make you feel like you're a lot further away from home than you actually are. I'm presuming if you're a regular you probably already know about the screen in porch and quaint seating area inside. I ordered the SeaCow, which is a small pile of grilled shrimp piled onto a plain bagel topped with fresh spinach and ranch dressing. While I think this could be improved, perhaps with an everything bagel, I did eat every bite. It's also served with side of fries and coleslaw which were both tasty and paired well with the sandwich. It should also be noted they to make their own desserts and a neighboring patron couple came into indulge just in some great looking slices of pie. I'd definitely recommend it for a quick bite and fun atmosphere with friendly service. Guten Appetit! read more

There aren't a lot of restaurants at Edisto, but this is one that has favorable reviews and is popular (I say that because of the reviews and the crowd when we arrived for dinner). There was a 45-min. wait for a table for the 3 of us. There is plenty of seating outside while you wait, and there are two gift shops right there as well. The hostess who took my name wasn't particularly friendly, but we did get seated on the screened-in porch within our allotted time. Another young lady who actually seated us advised they were out of chicken fingers and fries. Our server was semi-friendly and did her job well until after we received our meals. She did not check back with us, not even to see if we needed another drink. If she had, she could have made more cash. After a wait, she brought the check and took our plates away. I had the blackened salmon with cole slaw and a side salad. My granddaughter had a cheeseburger and applesauce. My aunt had a veggie melt after asking about vegetarian dishes. The server offered the melt from the lunch menu, which was nice of her. The food was good, which is why we returned the next morning for breakfast. The problem was we missed it. They serve until 11 and it was 11:30, so we ordered lunch. There was a different staff working this time. Everyone was nice. My crab cake sandwich was really good, as were the fries and cole slaw. My granddaughter did not like the chicken fingers, but then they were probably frozen. I hate when restaurants offer them on kid menus, becuase they are never good, let alone being unhealthy. My aunt liked her egg salad sandwich. Despite the gripes, if I return to the island I will probably return here for a meal. The food is decent and it's a cute place. read more

Breakfast was okay - my eggs came out cold, we ordered chocolate chip pancakes and received regular, the sausage patties were dried out like they had been sitting under a heat lamp for a while. We asked for napkins twice before receiving them, and the waitress seemed inconvenienced each time. The waitress seemed like she hated being there. Martha's pies made fresh every day were so delish (peanut butter pie and key lime, both creamy and delicious.). The shrimp and fish were perfectly battered. The blackened salmon was on point! We came to this restaurant because the reviews looked promising. I don't know what happened but the service was terrible. We sat and were greeting within 5 minutes. The waitress took our drink order and left. She was gone about 10 minutes, when she came back she had forgotten the drinks. At that point she took our order, again she was gone about 10 minutes when most of the food comes out. We still hadn't gotten our drinks. As for the food, it was just ok, nothing special. I had a side salad and a bowl of clam chowder. The chowder wasn't hot, it was more tepid. My husband had the shrimp po'boy. He said the shrimp had no real flavor. It may not be gourmet, but if you come back often you won't wanna leave without stopping here at least once. Also be sure to try their delicious home made pies! It was a much needed wonderful experience after an awful experience at Coot's bar and grill that ended up in us actually leaving without even eating (horribly rude waitress at Coot's). Unfortunately, we were unable to really experience SeaCow, which was not our intention. The hostess was unwelcoming, cold, and dismissive; so much that we did not even receive her name or a greeting only that she was hosting on March 2, 2025 at 11:30am. When asked about a table inside she mentioned she would put us on the list. We followed up with a typical inquiry of the duration of the wait, she replied "I don't know", and only after exchanging a concerned look she replied, "it could be 14 or 45 minutes, I don't know, because anyone can get up at anytime, but I will just call your name", with tone and body language that demonstrated potential irritation and unwillingness to positively respond to common requests of a potential patron. However, upon going inside the restaurant Ms. Reagan received our comment about the incident regarding the hostess and stated she would check into it and she was sorry it happened. As first time guest, this was really disappointing, given such a high recommendation from Wyndham Ocean Ridge, whom we trust as VIP owners. We truly enjoyed our stay on Edisto for our celebratory birthday weekend and hope that SeaCow will invest in quality improvement opportunities for their staff, specifically for the hosting crew. read more

On our last morning while killing time before King's Market opened, mom, mom's friend from Vermont and I stopped in for breakfast at the Sea Cow. There aren't that many breakfast spots on Edisto Island so it wasn't surprising that the parking lot was packed. The outdoor eating area was covered for winter and the only table available was there which mom objected to on the grounds it was too cold but agreed to when it was going to be a 15-20 minute wait. Turns out waits were the norm here. We got our table right next to the register so it was a pretty chaotic area to dine. We all ordered coffee which was delivered to the table quickly but wasn't very warm. They do get points for offering real half and half and butter. We ordered our food and the cashier gave us the newest edition of the Island newspaper to peruse (apparently fraudsters were attempting to sell beach houses that were not theirs on Zillow!). We then waited and waited for our food. They were very busy but many people who came after us got their orders before we did. The waitress came by several times to assure us that it would "be out soon" and to apologize. Not sure what the holdup was but finally mom's friend got her bacon and egg biscuit. She had requested no cheese but didn't want to send it back not knowing how long it might take to get a replacement. A few minutes later my scrambled eggs with country ham and mom's order of eggs over easy and corn beef hash arrived. All around the food was very good. Subsequent coffee refills were fresher and warmer too. So overall the food and service were good but not a place to pick if you are in a rush. read more

Slowly working my way through all the restaurants on Edisto (not too hard, considering there are less than 10), and finally stopped at the Seacow for lunch. The visit started off on a weird foot when we tried to get in for breakfast, but were informed that even though we'd gotten there before the 11 am cut off, the restaurant was full and by the time we got seated, breakfast would be over. I'm more of a lunch person, so it wasn't a big deal to me, but my mom was super disappointed. Our server, when he was around, was friendly and pleasant, but it took a good 5 minutes after sitting down to receive water. He was really good about refilling, though. The restaurant is small and cramped, but always seems to be packed. My mom opted for the cheeseburger, which was good, but you can tell that they buy their burgers in bulk. It's good for a burger by the beach, but won't be winning any awards anytime soon. Their fries, which are battered, were really crispy and tasty. I opted for the curry chicken salad plate, which is served with coleslaw, fruit, and a cut up bagel. The bagel was nice and soft and went well with the chicken salad. The curry is light and very subtle, and everything in the salad was cut up nice and small (almost chopped up), so it looked as if it would have the same consistency as cottage cheese. Luckily, they put some sliced almonds in there, which gave it a nice crunch. I loved the coleslaw, which was really light on the dressing. All in all, not a bad spot for a quick bite. read more

Popped in after a morning of strawberry picking and a quick toe touch in the very cold ocean (April) with our grandson. We had the nicest lunch, to include mimosas. We ordered take out from Sea Cow because Food Lion quit with it's awesome cheap breakfast since last year. The food was hot; but under seasoned for my taste. Needed salt and pepper. No season at all. Being really southern, I like my grits like I like my men: Hot and salty!! Lol. Just know that you might have to add butter, salt, pepper, or other seasoning to make the food more flavorful. Service is good. Like everything place at Edisto ; you will have to wait for a table or order take out. I ordered take out to be easy. The staff seemed nice from where I was waiting. I heard no complaints. People seems very happy and sat drinking coffee talking long after they were done eating. Atmosphere is laid back. Indoor outdoor seating. Dogs that are nice May sit outside with owner. It is a nice get away to eat breakfast. They are serving dinner by the sign; but I did not try that. Just know that everywhere at Edisto Beach is laid back and not rushed. It is wait wait wait; but it is a vacation destination to an island that is in no hurry. So just go with the flow. read more
