Great rib eye steak! The grits were also excellent! I would recommend this restaurant and 20% off at the bar for happy hour!

She suggested a great wine and even brought a sample to try prior to us making our selection. We started with a few appetizers. The fried calamari was not very impressive as it looked like store-bought calamari rings, and it wasn't real hot. The oysters Rockefeller did not have a lot of flavor and again not very hot kind of lukewarm in temperature. Not sure I would get either of these appetizers again. We chose a wedge salad, which was very good. Had nice chunks of blue cheese and a nice creamy dressing. Everything is served à la carte. The small sides are enough for two people to split. Where is the large is big enough for four people. I chose the bone in pork chop, which was pretty good, but the presentation was not all that great. My side was the stuffed mushrooms from the appetizer menu and they were delicious. My husband had the ocean 17, which he really enjoyed great flavor on the scallops and grouper he ordered a side of brussels sprouts, I thought they had a little too much balsamic in them. For dessert, my husband had the pecan pie with vanilla ice cream. It was served warm and it was delicious. I had the strawberry cake which was amazing. Felt like the prices were a little high, but the service was great.

I was able to make a reservation through Yelp, and although our reservation was pretty late at 8 PM, we walked in and luckily grabbed seats at the bar instead. That ended up being the best part of the night. Both bartenders were absolutely amazing. One was incredibly knowledgeable about wine, while the other knew everything about spirits, so we ended up getting a mini education on all kinds of drinks and even did a little tasting. It made the whole experience so much fun and interactive. We eventually settled on a bottle of red wine and shared a filet mignon. I highly recommend ordering the potatoes because whoever prepares them is seriously talented. They were thinly sliced and stacked into this beautiful cake-like structure that completely melted in your mouth. Between chatting with the bartenders and the people sitting next to us, we ended up staying much longer than planned simply because we were enjoying ourselves so much. I honestly don't have a single bad thing to say about this place. It's more than just dinner -- it's an experience, and I highly recommend checking it out.

We had the porterhouse and au gratin potatoes, a wedge salad, and clam chowder, plus desserts. Steaks were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The potatoes were absolutely amazing- yum yum. Next, the staff. They were exceptionally nice. Friendly, polite, courteous and helpful. Absolutely 5 stars. The food. We ordered the fried pickle appetizer, a shrimp dinner and the special, a 5oz fried grouper sandwich. The pickles came out fresh, hot, nicely cooked in a perfect coating. Came with ranch dressing. Would totally order them again. 5 stars as they were perfect. The shrimp dinner was also very good. Nice portion of again... perfectly coated, perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. The side of coleslaw was fine. No rating as it was neutral. The fries, the side we chose, were ok. The usual frozen crinkle cut fries. They were hot and cooked well. But frozen makes them a 3 star. I personally was not a fan of the hush puppies as I'm typically not anyway. My partner said they were delicious. Going by her enjoyment, 3.5 stars. The grouper sandwich special. Presentation was good. Good bun, fresh leaf lettuce and fresh cut tomato. The fish was again, nicely coated. Unfortunately, it came out dry. A little tough to chew. My partner tried it and said the same thing. Fortunately, the great server offered to have a new one made for me. I really didn't want it so she replaced it with their fried shrimp! No headache. No nasty looks or comments. Just a server that wanted to make sure we had a good dining experience. She did. The bill arrived and the food prices were good. Taxes are a bit high but no fault of the place. We were disappointed to see a service charge of 3% for CC fee. Typical nowadays but still never happy to see it. Overall this is a place that I would absolutely recommend and if ever passing through here again, we will stop and eat here. 4.75 stars.

We will probably remember this one for a while. First, we came a little early just to check out the scene and the managers/hosting staff were so kind and encouraging us to sit and relax at the bar before our table was ready. The bar had live music, the bartenders were fast and funny, and the drinks were Fantastic! We laughed and and had fun before the host came and Brigid to our table. Our waiter was enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the menu, knew and acknowledged that we were celebrating our anniversary, and made sure to keep watch and check in throughout our time. The managers were all walking around and even gave us complimentary champagne and dessert to celebrate with us. So so fun and we were overjoyed! Outside of the service and ambiance, the food was top tier. My husband got the shrimp and grits (loved it) and I got one of their steak specials (kept me quiet as I dug in). We shared the okra, lobster Mac and cheese. So so so good. My pictures do not do anything justice because I definitely was more worried about digging in than taking pictures but we will definitely be back again and perhaps I'll get a better picture!

The service was excellent -- polished, warm, and confidently attentive without ever feeling overdone. They know how to make a night feel special. And let me just say: the wine selection was excellent. Thoughtful pours, great bottles, and spot‑on pairing guidance. It felt curated, not crowded. Our table went in on a mix of dishes, and every single one delivered: * Waldorf salad -- crisp, bright, and beautifully balanced * Cioppino -- rich, aromatic, and full of tender seafood * Elevated swordfish -- perfectly cooked with that refined, coastal flair * Mussels -- tender, fragrant, and deeply seasoned * Filet mignon -- melt‑in‑your‑mouth and plated like a little moment High Cotton blends Southern charm with fine‑dining finesse, and it shows in every detail. My group left happy, impressed, and already planning the next visit. Charleston has plenty of great restaurants -- but High Cotton knows how to make you feel like you chose the right one.

The burger with truffle fries was outstanding... I literally ate every last fry. The bolognese was rich, decadent, and spectacular. Brussels sprouts were by far the best I've ever had (and I've ordered them everywhere). Mac and cheese was a pure savory dream. Honestly, just order every appetizer and side on the menu -- you won't regret it. And the beef Wellington? Hard to find on menus these days, and this one topped the best I've ever tasted. The atmosphere is beautiful. It's in a former bank building with so much charm and those huge windows... a total must-experience. This place needs to be in every "top 10 Charleston" list. Y'all, the food here is number one! Service was spectacular and if you are too full from your meal do get a dessert to go. We did - the carrot cake cheesecake - I'm still in euphoria over that! Parking can be challenging - we settled for East Bay parking garage which is a quick few minutes stroll over some pretty cool cobblestone streets and gorgeous architecture to enjoy on your way!

The first floor was composed mainly of booths; the second level (where we ate) had table seating; and the third floor had tables as well. Like any great steakhouse, there was a lot of wood, but thanks to the rugs and curtains, the restaurant never became loud. The food was absolutely superb! The steak was perfectly cooked, and my tile fish could not have been flakier or tastier. The sides were spectacular. The crab cake had coleslaw as a topping. I had never seen that combination before. It sounds strange, but it really worked! The oysters, just try them, and you will have them again. Great food without great service leaves an experience unfulfilled. The service at Oak was exceptional! It was my wife's birthday, and I noted that on the online reservation. She was greeted at check-in with a happy birthday wish, the menu had "happy birthday" printed on it, and the dessert she ordered was brought to our table, as shown in the photo. Our server was absolutely exceptional. Just a great experience that will be repeated.
