I love Halls. Food and service seriously can't be beat. It's an A+ meal every single time and for every single dish. The employees are all beyond nice. Need to use the restroom? They'll make way and lead you to where the restroom is located. Dropped your napkin? They'll bring you a fresh and folded napkin without you even asking. Ordered the stuffed mushrooms, ceasar salad, halls chopped salad, fried calamari, she-crab soup, pork chops, Special wagyu, filet mignon, rib eye, chocolate cake, and cookie skillet. We also had like 4 baskets of bread....arguably too much food for 4 people so they neatly packed up all of our leftovers for us as well. See you next time Halls Chophouse!

Tuna Tartare

This was our first time here and we have very high expectations when it comes to steak. To start, we got wedge salads and the tuna tartare which was great. It was very fresh and light!! As for our main courses, we got the filet. It was pretty good and had a nice pepper crust!! I will say it is up there on our list. For sides, we got the pepper jack creamed corn skillet, lobster Mac n cheese, and wild mushroom risotto. They were all excellent but the creamed corn was my favorite!! For dessert, we got the chocolate chip cookie skillet with extra ice cream which was soooo good. The service was quick for a steakhouse. I will say it is more upscale so the prices are more expensive but everything was good quality.

Another incredible special occasion meal at Hall's. Sometimes people tell me "oh, that place is overpriced and the steak wasn't great." I often wonder if we are talking about the same restaurant. The downtown location never disappoints in terms of service and quality. Its absolutely for special occasions and the price matches however you wont find a more comfortable experience where you are treated like royalty.

Perfect Anniversary Brunch Experience! We celebrated our wedding anniversary at Halls Chophouse during their Sunday morning Gospel Brunch, and it was absolutely unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional--attentive, welcoming, and truly top-tier. To make our anniversary even more special, we were treated to complimentary champagne, which was such a thoughtful touch. The food was delicious, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor--there were no complaints at all. Listening to the soulful, uplifting gospel music while enjoying brunch created an amazing atmosphere that made the experience even more meaningful. I highly recommend making a reservation--you will not be disappointed. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply enjoying brunch in Charleston, this is a must-visit spot! #HallsChophouse #CharlestonEats #GospelBrunch #SundayBrunch #AnniversaryCelebration #CharlestonSC #FineDining #BrunchVibes #ExceptionalService #HighlyRecommend

Halls Chop House is hands down our favorite steakhouse in Charleston and quite honestly one of the best restaurants we have eaten at anywhere. Every time my wife and I visit the city, Halls is a non negotiable stop for us. From the moment you walk in, the level of hospitality is unmatched. Being welcomed and checked on by multiple layers of management throughout the meal makes the entire experience feel intentional, personal, and exceptionally well run. The food is consistently phenomenal. On our most recent visit, we started with the Halls Chopped Salad, which was a perfect ten out of ten. I ordered the 12 ounce filet mignon and it was cooked flawlessly, easily another ten out of ten. We finished with the crème brûlée, which ranks among the best we have had in the country. Service, atmosphere, and execution are all exactly what you expect from a restaurant of this caliber. What makes it even more impressive is how well priced the experience is compared to other high end steakhouses. Kudos to Halls Chop House for continuing to set the bar. There truly is no place like it, and we will keep coming back every single time we are in Charleston.

Hall's Chophouse is worth every dollar! My wife and I came here for our three year anniversary and we felt so welcomed. Our waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable. He even sent us a thank you letter we received in the mail several weeks after eating here. They treat you extremely well here. The food was out of this world. Everything we had was delicious. Although it's rather pricey, it's worth it for the most special occasions.

My favorite restaurant in Charleston. We went for NYE, and Hall himself greeted us with champagne. I would highly recommend the fried green tomatoes and the ribeye steak. Perfect for an anniversary, Valentine's Day or a celebration! They had gluten free bread and were so nice about my allergies! They were willing to make any accommodations so that I could still order exactly what I wanted! Candle lit dinner and music was good. Would highly recommend!

Perfection as always! The Hall's cheeseburger and Bloody Mary were the perfect lunch treat. Halls truly has the best service and wait staff in all of Charleston. They go out of their way to make you feel like a celebrity! I only wish other restaurants closer to us on Johns Island would follow suit.

We had an excellent experience at Hall's Chophouse. After hearing rave reviews from friends and locals, we were excited to dine here. We made a reservation 2 weeks in advance, and we could only get in at 4:30 or 9pm. So we had an early dinner! I recommend calling way in advance if you know you are going to be in Charleston. The restaurant is a beautiful two story building, with room to accommodate an intimate meal for two or a large family or group. The service here is superior. Our waiter, Kyle, was welcoming, knowledgeable, and personable. We enjoyed the presentation showcasing the selection of steaks they offer. One of the owners also stopped by our table to make sure all was going perfectly. We ordered the Caesar salad and chop salad, and both were very good. Our filets were perfectly cooked and tender. We ordered the loaded mashed potatoes (not our favorite) and the cream corn (good). Our perfect ending to the meal was the cookie skillet. It was served hot with ice cream and caramel and chocolate sauces. Delicious! I highly recommend checking out this steakhouse l!

Is there anything to say that hasn't already been said about this Charleston mainstay? You will be treated like a king or a celebrity from the moment you arrive. The steaks are well cooked and flavorful, and they're even offering upgrades like truffle butter toppings. The dessert we had was divine. Yes, it's crazy expensive. Worth every penny.

We just love halls! This is our fist Sunday brunch && it was wonderful. I do think this is the best filet in town. Always cooked perfectly, a little charred on the outside, and packed with flavor. For brunch I really enjoyed it served with eggs and the breakfast potatoes. We didn't have a reservation but were seated quickly which was wonderful. Brooke was our server and she was wonderful. Friendly, attentive, and very accommodating. I love coming here and the classic steakhouse vibes but with such positive and energetic staff. We'll be back for brunch again!

We had an unbelievable meal this evening. Our kids gifted us a gift card last December, in anticipation of our visit to Charleston. The recommendation was spot on. The food, the service, the atmosphere were all perfect. PERFECT! I had the bone in filet (rare/cool) and my wife had the 8 oz filet ( well done :( lol). Both were perfectly prepared with amazing sides and cocktails. Such a great experience all the way around.

I don't think there was a single morsel left on those plates. For dinner we had the wet aged ribeye with the bone marrow & salmon. Sides: steak fries, lobster Mac and cheese, creamed spinach, and asparagus. The steak fries were such a stand out. Wow. never would have thought but incredible! Dessert had to be the affogato & crème brulee. Everything was Devine. The restaurant is bright and airy and incredibly beautiful. We sat at the bar booths and there was a little blonde girl who was so on top of refilling our water that it became comical. She was such a doll! We were staying at the Meeting House Inn so were able to easily and leisurely walk to lunch and dinner. Service was excellent, true Southern hospitality, and the restaurant is adorable. Food was amazing, each of the four of us loved our dish and tasted each others as well: - shrimp and grits - 5/5, plentiful and plump shrimp with a flavorful sauce over creamy grits. This was not my dish so I only got a taste and next time we go back I'm going to get this for myself! - grilled salmon sald - 5*5, arugula, couscous, dried fruit, pine nuts, feta, lemon shallot vinaigrette (this dressing is so delicoius! I want the recipe!), two of us ordered this one and again, i got a bite and want to order this for myself next time (see the problem here?) The combination of flavors and textures was amazing. Rave reviews from all. - scallops or was it special flounder - 4/5, I can't even remember what I ordered and the fact that I cannot quite remember it but distinctly remember my friends' lunches means I did not order the right dish! It was solid but not something to write home about (or on Yelp about) - corn muffins - 5*5, i'm pretty sure the corn muffins came as the "bread" for the table and they were so yummy! We got there just before 6 PM, and although the restaurant was pretty full, they told us they'd try to seat us outside due to our party size. That worked perfectly since they had heaters going. They quoted us a 45-minute wait, but it ended up being closer to 15 minutes -- a great surprise. The service was seriously outstanding. I have zero complaints. Everyone was so personable and attentive. For appetizers, the beef carpaccio was my favorite. For entrées, we ordered the pork chop, tuna, duck, and lamb -- and we all shared bites. Everything was delicious. My pork chop did come out a little dry, but when I mentioned it, our waitress didn't hesitate at all. She immediately took it back and insisted on bringing a new one, making me feel completely comfortable about saying something. While I waited, she brought me a complimentary soup, which was such a thoughtful touch, and the replacement came out quickly. The manager personally brought out the new dish and waited while I cut into it to make sure it was perfect. She even came back later to check again. That level of attention to detail really stood out. To top it off, they brought out dessert and a round of champagne for the table. I wasn't drinking, and they noticed -- so they brought me a mocktail without me even asking. That kind of attentiveness is rare. The inside looked beautiful, and I'd love to sit inside next time to experience the full vibe, but outside was perfect -- not too cold, not windy, and overall just a great atmosphere. Overall, one of the best service experiences I've had in a long time. Highly recommend.

Galpão Gaucho Brazilian Steakhouse - Food Review 4.6 / 5…read moreStars If you're looking for an authentic Brazilian steakhouse experience in Charleston, Galpão Gaucho delivers a premium, meat-forward dining experience that leans heavily into quality, variety, and attentive service. The Experience From the moment you sit down, the pace is noticeable--in a good way. Service is fast and efficient, with gauchos consistently rotating through the dining room offering a wide selection of fire-roasted meats. The rhythm of service keeps your plate full without feeling rushed, which is exactly what you want in a traditional Brazilian steakhouse setting. Food Quality & Selection The highlight here is undeniably the extensive variety of meats. From classic cuts like picanha to a range of seasoned beef, chicken, and pork options, there's no shortage of choices. Each cut is carved tableside and served fresh off the skewer, giving you that authentic churrascaria feel. The salad and vegetable bar is impressively large, offering everything from fresh greens and roasted vegetables to cheeses and cold cuts. It's not just filler--it's actually well-stocked and thoughtfully prepared, making it easy to balance out the heavier meat options (if you have the discipline). What Stands Out Fast, continuous service - you're never waiting long for the next cut Wide variety of meats - something for every preference Large, well-rounded salad bar - more than just an afterthought Attentive staff - consistent with what you'd expect from a high-end Brazilian steakhouse Where It Falls Short Salt level can be a bit heavy on some meats, which may not suit everyone Price point (~$85 per person) puts it firmly in the premium dining category Parking is limited, though nearby parking decks make it manageable with a short walk Final Verdict Galpão Gaucho is a solid choice for a high-end dining experience in Charleston, especially if you're going in hungry and want to indulge. While the seasoning can occasionally lean too salty and the price isn't light, the overall experience--driven by quality meats, variety, and strong service--makes it worth it for a special occasion or a serious night out. Best for: Date nights, celebrations, business dinners, or anyone wanting a true Brazilian steakhouse experience without compromise.
