Live seafood!! So fresh
Allie Y.

This is a Korean seafood restaurant that specialize in live seafood. When you walk in, you will be greeted with oceany smell of the aquarium tanks and see a small hallway, which is all of the restaurant. There are only about 6 tables. Now, expect fresh quality seafood at a reasonable price but do not expect lavishing side dishes to come with it. This place specializes in seafood only, so the items are limited to what fresh seafood they have in stock that day and not much else besides small options of sushi. Most things are self serve such as water, unlimited miso soup, and silverwares. I've had various sashimis here including abalone, sea squirt, gwaengo, sea cucumber, etc. and because they are so fresh, it doesn't taste fishy and it's top notch quality! Fresh seafood Korean restaurant is extremely hard to come by in this area and this is the only one in DFW that I know of. The business seems to do well and I hope more places like this open in the DFW area and compete for quality side dishes as well.

This new establishment is great if you want to quickly get a sashimi platter. We did online order for chef's choice platter, medium size and a bunch of sushi rolls. The sashimi platter was amazing, the raw meat is top of quality and well packaged for to-go. There are some seats in the restaurant too if you're lucky. The platter also came with some soup for two which has the rest of the fish in it. You'll find garlic and jalapeños with the platter but no lettuce, though you can buy a pack in the shop for $9. The sushi rolls were a little disappointing; the rice tasted a little rough and old, and the imitation crab meat wasn't the best. However, we haven't tried everything in this little shop, there's lots crab options and even live octopus. It sure smelled great when we entered.

Live gwang-eo

Live Gwang-eo is very fresh and price is reasonable ($70, M) and it's enough for 2 ppl. H mart sells $80-90 for minimum but here you can get same portions with cheaper and free spicy soup too which is small but it's enough after finishing raw sashimi because sashimi will make you very full already. Also soju is pretty cheap too. Highly recommended!!!!

Side dishes

Finally a place that does jjamjjamyun (Half & Half of jjamppon and jjajangmyun) well! Super happy…read morethat I get to get my fix of both noodles in one dish. Bonus points that you get to choose the spice level so you can actually make it spicier than buldak spice level! I love that you can make the black bean noodle kinda spicy too because i normally get tired of just the black bean sauce flavor. We chose the level 1 for the jjamppong because it said it was like Shin ramen level of spice and the employee let us add some spice to the jjajangmyun as well which was nice Flavor of the spicy seafood broth and the black bean sauce were both pretty good. I liked the texture of the noodles as well. I think the spice level was a little off thought since I think shin ramen may be a little spicier. We could probably get level 2 next time. The tangsuyuk was decent. It was similar batter to Mr. Paik's 0410 noodle shop. I wished they had put more vegetables in the sauce though like carrots and cabbage. Overall, id definitely return at least for the jjamjjamyun!

Self service spot, I came here looking for a place to compare to Paik's for their Jajangmyeon. They…read morehave utensils and barely tea for free, and a return tray stack in the corner. I got the half half of jjamppong and Jajangmyeon and wow, the jamppong broth is great. Although I think the spice level is inconsistent since I got regular spice but it was very spicy. My boyfriend's broth seemed less red than mine even though we ordered the exact same thing. The noodles looked very fresh and bouncy than the ones I'm used to. Jjamppong was very flavorful with plenty of seafood in every bite, great presentation too. The Jajangmyeon had nice big chunks of meat (although not many), but the flavor profile of the sauce was on the sweeter side. Maybe it was done intentionally to balance the saltiness of the jjamppong but I felt it would've been easier to eat if it was more savory. For that, I would 100% return for the jjamppong alone but maybe keep my business with Paik as my go-to Jajangmyeon spot. The flavor profile not being more my preference is not their fault and might be up somebody else's alley, so I'll still give them 5 stars for the quality, affordability, and taste. This easily filled me up for under $20.
