Langoustine and crab roll with Caesar salad... delicious!

Beautiful quaint waterfront location, ample parking, and great staff and service. All of us ordered langoustine/crab roll with Caesar salad both recommended by staff. Very fresh seafood... delicious! Soup-of-the-day was mushroom soup; a little salty and not creamy as expected of mushroom soup. Had Creme Brûlée and Basque Cheesecake both were just ok. Would return on next trip to try other dishes.

Lovely place against the docks for lunch! Stopped here on our way down to Victoria from Schwartz Bay terminal. Located in a bit of a residential area, it was a little hard to find, but what a gem. Super friendly service, and absolutely loved the overall atmosphere and aesthetic. We got the fish and chips, lamb burger, and a salad with ahi tuna. All were delicious! The fish was probably our favourite - perfectly cooked with a light crisp batter. Great with their tartar sauce. The lamb burger had a beautiful combo of flavours and texture. The peach chutney balanced amazingly with the goat cheese, crispy onions and seasoned lamb patty. We wanted to come back on our way back up, but we ran out of time! So do us a favour, and come here for us!!

The shellfish stew was exceptional: a spicy and vegetable rich tomato broth complemented local clams, mussels and an oyster.

An excellent, small restaurant at the head of the Van Isle Marina. Many options for both dinner and brunch. We stayed with the seafood offerings. The shellfish stew was superb. The grilled halibut was beautifully presented. For brunch the next day I had the smoked salmon eggs Benedict on top of a potato pancake, billed as a rosti, but more mashed than grated. Still delicious.

I really enjoy this cozy little restaurant by the marina. I have been here a handful of times for brunch and lunch. My server today did an excellent job of a accommodating my family with particular requests. We came in for breakfast which was unexpectedly busy (there was only 1 server in the morning, but I thought the server did really well to make sure people felt they were being looked after). We ordered The Benny, The standard, and Green Eggs and ham. I asked the hash browns to be on the crispy side and they came out really dark (probably a bit too dark but I didn't say anything because they still tasted pretty good...although next time I think I'll just order them without mentioning extra crispy). I ordered the turkey apple sausage which were a generous portion; however the texture and taste were on the over cooked/chewy side. They looked like they had been deep fried (which I don't have a problem with) but I think they could have been better. Coffees and tea were refilled regularly. Will I come back? Absolutely because I generally enjoy the food. I think today may have been a one off day in the kitchen (either they were swamped or someone new because I know they serve better than today). I really appreciated the great service and it's in such a great location. I will probably order off of the lunch menu next time or will order my usual-the salmon cakes Benny.

Rabin was very efficient and attentive a most delightful waiter, we were very pleased with him. I realize Ten Acres is separate from Pier Hotel but we were surprised that the girl serving in the Bar was very naked at the back also wearing jeans. A very bad advert for the Pier Hotel usually staff are dressed like that in lower class restaurants. The waiters were dressed very smart. We are from Toronto. E. Y.

Based on this most recent visit, that confidence was misplaced. My meal was served on a visibly dirty plate. That is not a minor oversight -- it is a fundamental failure. Cleanliness is the bare minimum in food service, particularly at nearly $30 per entrée. There is no justification for serving food on a dirty dish. I later felt unwell, which only heightened my concern about overall hygiene practices. The food itself did not justify the pricing. The lamb burger was dry and lacked the juiciness one would reasonably expect, even with tzatziki. The fries were low-grade and out of place for a restaurant positioning itself at this price level. Premium pricing demands premium execution. That standard was not met. The revised dining layout also detracts from the experience. The high tables and chairs create an uncomfortable and less welcoming atmosphere. Notably, during our visit, no guests chose to sit at them -- everyone gravitated toward standard seating. That alone speaks volumes. Restoring the previous table configuration would significantly improve comfort and ambiance. The service was equally underwhelming. At this price point, guests should receive attentive, polished, and genuinely welcoming service. Instead, both the waitress and food runners appeared disengaged. When customers are spending this much, attitude and professionalism are not optional -- they are expected. After returning home, I reviewed feedback from the past year and was struck by the consistency of similar complaints. The pattern is clear: standards have declined. This establishment was once very good. It is capable of better. However, until cleanliness, food quality, atmosphere, and service standards are brought back to where they were, it cannot justify its pricing. At this level, "acceptable" is not enough. The standard needs to be significantly higher.

Cocktails are good. The steak, chicken, lamb, fish all looked amazing. We had the steak and lamb sirloin, both nicely presented on a bed of veggies and roasted potatoes. My only qualm is the steak was cut too thin for a NY striploin so it was difficult to cook medium (came out well done but very tender and juicy). Overall plenty of choices for everyone, not cheap but priced typically for the area.

Live piano player Thursday through Saturday nights? Check. Good service? Check. Good value? Sadly, no. If you're coming here, you're likely coming for the ambiance. === 2. FOOD I came as part of a large group dinner and so can comment about: The appetizers: they were alright but far too small for their price: - Brussel Sprouts ($20) - Baked Brie ($22) - Limoncello Prawns ($26) - Calamari ($22) Chicken Piccata ($33): Breaded chicken breast on pappardelle pasta; I changed the cream-based sauce to a tomato-based one and it was alright but I am so grateful for the apples and dessert because it was very small - especially for the price. Tiramisu ($14): It was good, but also overpriced / too small for the price. Note: coffee is $4.50; pop/soda is $4 - but refills are not included. === 3. SERVICE Nicole was super-friendly and really cared about our experience; her teammates helped deliver the many dishes. She was prompt in helping when it was later realized we were missing two of the group's dishes. If I were to go back, I would ask to be served by Nicole if possible. === 4. ENVIRONMENT It's like a steakhouse on the water: dark wood, dim lighting; it could be like that to have diners focus on the many windows facing the water. There appears to be outdoor seating available also. You can bring groups of all sizes here; wheelchairs and baby strollers should fit also in some areas. Parking is based on luck - what you can get on the streets nearby (and you may be looking around for a bit)!
